I know that some people might think that this book is pointless, but the simplicity of it is simply beautiful. All in all, some of these ways to beat stress might seem so obvious, but it is actually incredibly helpful to just sit down and read through them all. There are so many that I have bookmarked for when I need them in the future. Just reading through all of them makes you feel less stressed and more positive about the future. It reminds you of how you can take control of your life and live how you really want to. I would highly recommend this to literally everyone, as I can already tell that I will be referencing it many times in the future.
This was a lovely, well thought out, simple guide on ways to beat stress. Divided into clear sections you can do the tasks how you want - one a day, or a section a day, or however works best for you. The meditations and tasks were nice ways to take a step back and release some of your stress. This would be nice to keep close to your journal for daily practice.
I pick this book up every few days to read and catch up on the days I did not read a passage. I find them challenging in a good way to help identify my stressers and find a peace and calm. It is like a gym, for stress, you have to go daily, you have to do the work, but the reward is long term and healthier
I enjoyed this book. It was a list of 365 ways to beat stress - each way was broken down into a category and then had a short paragraph underneath explaining the idea more in depth. It was an easy and quick read and provided good tips.
I'm absolutely not into self help books, I just got this as a recommendation, and because some other counselors think is important to read about the actual tecniques to beat stress, I'll keep reading some other ideas and figuring out what is useful to recommend with others, always triyng to talk truth and go deep with the root causes of their anxiety and stress. Anyway I think is a great effort to document 365 ways to do it!. I have not finish it all but definitely I will.
Thank you to netgalley and Watkins Publishing for sending me this arc in exchange for an honest review.
The book is split into different sections which makes it easier to navigate the book. It can be read as quickly or as slowly as you want. I found some “ways” more realistic than others as some would probably cause me more stress, for example, learn a new language. But this will be subjective to each person. I think it’s great that there is a wide range of different “ways” included so that everyone can find a way that will work for them.
I think that if you are struggling to cope with the stress in your life this is a good book to read as it is quick and easy to read and I am sure that you will find something that you will find helpful.
A colourful book with different ways on how to relax and find perfect calm in certain areas of your life. The ways range from dealing with stress mindfully, in the mornings, creativity and people. I’m not a huge fan of self-help books but I can’t help reading them. I’m always hopeful that one day I’ll come across a book that has a clear step-by-step guide on how to beat depression, stress, anxiety or how to be more confident or more outgoing but it’s just a composition of tips that you can find with a Google search on a lifestyle blog with a pastel and floral theme.
365 Ways to Beat Stress is exactly what it sounds like: Suggestions to try and ‘beat’ the various stressors in your life. There are different sections in this brief book that focus on various parts of life. Some of those sections include:
Mornings
Quick Fixes
Positive Change
Mind and Spirit
Home
Work
This book can be read as quickly or slowly as you want. You can read whole sections at once or focus on one day at a time (There are 365 ways, so you have one a day for a whole year!).
For me personally, some sections worked better than others. While some of the ‘ways’ seemed like they could cause stress in the beginning, but ultimately end up relaxing (learn to knit) some I just did not see feasible as a reducer for stress (Learn ASL/ a foreign language/ join a choir/ walk to work).
There are some good suggestions for ways to beat stress, some you could do on vacation at the beach!
We are all different and have our own unique stressors. The various ways to beat stress might work for me, but may not work for you and vice-versa. This is overall a decent read that could help you with reducing stress in some way. You should find something that will work for you in this book.
Special thanks to Watkins Publishing for sending me an arc copy to read and review via NetGalley.
I probably don't admit to something unbelievable when I say I requested this book because I feel like I have to much stress in my life. Why would anyone read a book like this for any other reason? Throughout university I found myself more and more unable to handle all the stress, and while it became better after I graduated, I'm still afraid it all coming back. I could definitely use some tips on how to relax.
The tips in this book can be divided in three groups: 1. tips that I'm sure I will use 2. tips that might work, but I'm a bit skeptical and 3. tips I'm 100% would never work for me. And I think that's okay. It's really hard to find any tips on how to handle things in one's life, how to control one's feelings, how to stay calm. We all work differently. I think the essential here is that I found some helpful tips that work for me, and those will improve my life. I'm sure everybody else feels this way, they all have these three groups of the tips: what's awesome is that we all put different tips in them. What works for me, might never work for you, and what didn't work for me, might be a perfect fit for you. I do think, though, that every people can find something useful in this little book.
This is a short book of tips to help relieve day to day stress. I will go definitely refer back to this book from time to time to help me remember how to handle some of life’s stresses. I like the way the book is divided into categories, this will be helpful when you are looking for help with a particular need like sleeping or traveling. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for advice on how to handle stress.
I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced.
I enjoyed this book and the coping strategies it provided. I can definitely use these on days when life seems a bit hard to handle or when my world is spinning out of my control. I like having these positive things to help me so that I can let go of my bad habits. It is great.
This book is an excellent resource that you will return to time and time again! I highly recommend this book.
There's something for everyone in this little book. Really helpful advice and information about a broad range of stress-busting techniques. Have just ordered a bunch of essential oils to try out. Will definitely return to this in challenging times.
Reading this book should reduce stress. The title of this book suggests a stress relieving idea for each day of the year, but the reality is: here are 365 ideas, you probably preform 20% of these already. That’s fine! As suggested, sometimes you need a reminder to say a ritual affirmation, or drink camomile tea at night before bed. Rather than tackling one stress reliever per day, one may take on 12 consciously/unconsciously.
There are a LOT of great ideas for stress reduction in here, but there are also some I would consider stress-inducing, such as “speak up for your beliefs,” or “plan a royal surprise for your partner...”. I found that as the ideas progressed, the ideas didn’t so much feel like stress-reducing concepts, but rather joy-enhancing projects, which isn’t such a bad thing.
I literally read this book during a stressful time in my life. I’m recovering from surgery, I’m on deadline (or overdue) for work, all balled up with social obligations for the holidays. Taking time out to read was a idea gleamed from this book (uh... I’m taking the “read a classic novel” concept liberally). Well it did feed me. So yes, I recommend this book, but I doubt it’ll reduce the outcome of anyone’s blood pressure reading.
I requested this eBook from NetGalley for review.
I loved this book on ways to beat stress. I think it's a must have in this busy and fast paced life. I will definitely be going back to this in the future.
This book just keeps repeating itself.. Plant seeds, grow vegetables, plant a tree, start a garden. These are just the same tips but a bit refrased. I didn't like the repetition, at all.
The format was also a bit off but maybe that's because I'm reading on my phone. Sentences weren't finished or written in an other sentence. The fonts were also a bit off.
Some tips were really helpful, others were just not.
Great book!!! I had to read it all within 2 weeks. I have bought a physical copy so I can take it with me everywhere and read over it again.
There are so many good ideas in this book. It includes a lot about mindfulness that can be worked into a busy morning and gives ideas about doing kind things for others in order to make yourself feel better. There are sections dedicated to certain problems that the reader might want to work on such as hard decisions and quick fixes for stress. The ideas in this book are worth trying for anyone struggling with stress and many of them have been studied before. I think most of these can be used in any situation and can be used to a wide variety of problems.
Stress is a popular topic these days. Stress comes at us from many directions at, what sometimes feels like, an ever increasing velocity. There may be family issues, work problems, school struggles, etc. or you may just have a personality that is vulnerable to stress. For any of these, this book may be helpful.
This book is organized into sections and subsections. A few examples:
Morning (section) has subsections including Waking Well, Starting the Day and Breakfast
The Peaceful Home (section) includes Light, Shade and Colour, Managing Your Spaces, Positive Energies, The Feel Good Home, Outside and Your Neighborhood
and one last example
Evenings (section) which includes Winding Down, Looking Back-Looking Forward and Off to Bed
Within each of these areas there are short, simple things to ponder such as Forget Yesterday's Mistakes, Create a Personal Affirmation and Call Yourself from Home (leaving a positive message that you will listen to when you arrive at work).
This book may be read in order or dipped into at random. It provides some good suggestions for living comfortably.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher.
Waking up to short powerful nuggets of peaceful advice is a great lifestyle change for me. Reading each day is like preventative self-care. It is very important to establish being stress-free as a way of life vs struggling to de-stress all the time. With a daily dose of advice to follow, this book helps you stay ready for life instead of constantly getting ready in response to stress. There are 365 days of great advice but there are no pictures or photographs. Overall, could be very useful but a little dull with presentation.
