REVIEW
As I am a full time carer of my mum who is diabetic, has Menieres Disease, arthritis etc for ten years and then more recently my dad who has mixed dementia which consists of Vascular & Alzheimers, I am er. . .busy and naturally get stressed. Added to my own health issues I am always looking for ways to feel peaceful or de-stress so when I came across 365 ways to find peace I thought it may be helpful for me to read it and thinking along those same lines I decided this book might be a good book to read too. I mean I think if they are being honest most people will admit to being stressed out at some points in their life or work. I think we could all do with a little help to de-stress our lives.
The cover of this book has a pale. Pastel peach as its background and has feathers and butterflies which I guess when you think about those item’s they could relax you and so help with stress. Would this book cover stand out on a bookshelf? I can’t honestly say as it would depend on what other books is was nearby.
The genre of this book is self-help, though I think could fit into the “gift book” category. It could also be within the “new year/ new me” type of genre.
So what can I say for the book, well it was an interesting read but it mostly consisted of ways to de-stress that I already knew. I suppose if you sit down with a cuppa and this book that would be relaxing and help you de-stress too.
The books suggestions go into detail on how to achieve the best results by doing things such as “Wake up naturally” and “Engage all five senses.” The one I often do is “Sing in the Shower”. The book continues suggesting “Put on a bright shirt”, “Decide to be happy”. The suggestion/way to that I loved was “Read a classic” Well I don’t read many classic books but I do find that reading does reduce my stress level. Whether its reading a magazine, a newspaper, a textbook, or a fictional story, they all provide escape from whatever is/was stressing you!
This book was fairly interesting to read as an ebook, but personally I think it would be much better to read as a physical book. I feel some books are just better in a physical format to flick back and forth through.
It would make a good gift idea for someone. As the title says 365 Ways to beat stress as a physical book it could be read on a daily basis.
This is a great book on tips to relieve anxiety and stress. This book is packed with how to’s and daily life tips to reduce occurrences. As someone who suffers from anxiety and the occasional panic attack I feel as if these tips will be helpful. I especially like how you do not have to read it in order. You can flip to something that you need in that moment, 2 thumbs up.
Thank you for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
Steps to use daily to make us more aware of our surroundings and the importance of self-awareness. Also the great returns from showing happiness to others.
What a great self help book! I plan to use many of these techniques. I love how it starts with waking to your day. Thanks to Watkins Publishing and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was a great little find and something I will continue to go back when I need a new technique to try. I didn't know there were so many ways to combat stress and whilst all might not work, there are a few that have already helped.
This is a book I've already recommended to friends.
Whilst it is full of lots of nice simple tips for dealing with stress, the book is not enticing to read.
More of a coffee table book to dip in and out of rather than to sit and read
I liked this book much more than the book on beating stress by the same publisher. Adam's insights were thoughtful and easy to digest. I read this book in an hour.
Great guide on how to overcome stress or anxiety. Great, smart and simple ideas for everyone who gets overwhelmed sometimes.
Every day life can be stressful and any opportunity to reduce that is to be welcomed. This book gives 365 simple tips to take forward, making life a little easier on a bad day. I liked the way the book had been carefully divided into sections, so if you wanted to concentrate on ways to change your home or working environment, you can dip in and out.
Just about all the ideas are straight-forward and easy to put in place, with some that I have heard of before (eg. chamomile tea). I think anyone who reaches for this book will be able to find something that they hadn’t thought of and will want to try.
Thank you Netgalley for this copy.
This book is teaching you how to get over everyday stress and see positive.
Recommended for everyone who gets overwhelmed in life and needs to take a break.
This book is a lovely list of ways to beat stress in your every day life. It’s broken up into simple categories such as Work, Travel, Money etc and it’s easy to dip in and out of for what your current worries are.
I did find some of the points to be redundant or just common sense however there were several points that I found helpful and would like to try. Some of these are:
• Listen to the symphony of noise at night – I recently moved to a quiet area from a noisy one and I find that I miss it the sound of crickets, frogs and distant trains. I find these sounds soothing and have been using a white noise app to recreate these familiar sounds.
• Forget yesterday’s mistakes – I am guilty of holding onto things and rehashing them in my head instead of letting go.
• Don’t try to do everything in one day – My to-do lists are often way too long and I beat myself up when I don’t finish it. It’s okay to move some things to tomorrow.
• Write a letter to yourself from your ‘calm’ self – I struggle with anxiety and I’m eager to write myself a letter when I’m feeling calm and content so I can read it when I’m really anxious and see if it will calm me.
Recommended for anyone who gets overwhelmed in life and needs to take a breather.
An amazing guide book on how to deal with everyday stress. There were a lot of useful techniques. I am trying to use them on my everyday life.
I don't think I have ever read a book with so many ways to relieve stress. The best books in the self-help categories are books that have new techniques that we never heard of before and every time you read them, you learn something new. This book had it all including meals to have for each time of the day which I never even thought about. We are always on the lookout for new books on stress relief since everyone in the community including the library staff handles stress in their own different way and we all can benefit from this book.
Thank you Netgalley and Watkins Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. We will definitely consider this title for our self-help/stress management section in our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.
A great guide on how to manage stress. The book is full of useful advice, techniques, and ideas.
I will surely read it again to manage the everyday stress.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC
"With a different technique or tip for each day of the year, no other book offers such a wide range of ways to release stress and anxiety, all set in an attractive illustrated design that will make dipping in for inspiration a joy. All the practices are effective yet also easy to follow, even if you have never tried them before, and range from energy techniques such as simple shiatsu, to quick stress fixes such as visualizing a blue bubble, to methods of life simplification such as avoiding a news overload and rationing your evenings out, to inspiring visualizations such as imagining yourself as the sky or as a lotus floating on water."
My middle name is stress so when I find books to help me manage it better, I make sure I pick it up. This one had a lot to offer with a tip for everyday of the year. I loved the this book particularly because there was no certain order to it. You could work you way through the book by starting in the middle if you wanted. A great book that will help you achieve your full potential with minimal stress!
