This is the first book of this author that I have read and I really enjoyed it. Between The Lies is a well-written psychological thriller that kept me glued to it’s pages. I could definitely emphasize with the main character Chloe Daniels and the frustrations she was going through. It was like being caught in a spiderweb of lies and trying to work yourself free. I definitely recommend this book.
I was so excited to get an advanced copy of this book on NetGalley - I chose it because I love psycholgoical thrillers and I loved a previous book I had read by Michelle Adams. This book was no exception. I loved this book from cover to cover - Michelle Adams is an incredible author and she kept me guessing throught the book.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's press for the opportunity to give my honest review All opinions expressed are completely my own.

Imagine waking up after a month in a coma. Not knowing anybody, not remembering If you are married, single , divorced. If you have kids. Not recognizing yourself, your clothes or the things around you. This is what happens to Chloe.
She is sheltered in her recovery by her dad, mom and sister
I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough, I devoured this book. I trusted and distrusted everyone and everything!
Don’t miss this great read !
I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Heartbreaking novel about a young woman who suffered memory loss after a devastating accident.
I received this book "Between The Lies" from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own. Interesting story and I wanted to know what happened to Chloe but I didn't feel connected to the characters. Although there were twists and turns it just wasn't enough. It was an okay book.
This is an easily devoured book that I lost myself in immediately. Characters are well developed, especially Chloe, but also untrustworthy so it feels an unreliable account of how Chloe deals with the secrets her family are keeping from her. We all think that we are protecting our loved ones for their own good but when does it go too far? That’s the intriguing dilemma faced here by Chloe, and also the reader, who has to decide who is lying to her and why. There are clues along the way that are drip fed to keep up the tension and although I did work it all out quite early on, I still kept my options open in case of a double bluff. Will keep a look out on any upcoming books by this author!
While I felt this book was written very beautifully, I also felt it was a tad slow for my liking when it comes to thrillers. I did enjoy it, and would give it a solid 3.5-4 stars, I just wanted a bit more excitement in the beginning instead of more of it being towards the end. I do always find the coma, loss of memory books to be very riveting. So, this one was definitely worth the read and had some good twists!
I will be recommending to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub and using in a daily challenge.
3.5/5 stars
Between the Lies is a psychological thriller. It is my first book by this author.
The narrator is 32 year old Chloe (1st person POV). She wakes up with amnesia. She is taken to her parents house to try to recuperate. But everybody is lying to her.
The story was interesting. I was curious to find out what really happened to her. And why everybody was lying to her. But I just didn't love how the story was told. Also I found the twists to be very predictable.
The last chapter was the most interesting. But I read a lot of suspense and thrillers. And I have seen this done before. So I wasn't surprised. But overall it was an interesting story.
Between the Lies is a fascinating glimpse into what might happen if you woke up in a hospital with absolutely no memory of your life or the people you'd once known.
The writing style has a strong literary feel, with an almost poetic rhythm. I enjoyed the story as much for the way the words are put together as for the story itself.
The first third and final third held my attention, while the middle lagged a bit and I wasn't as engaged. The pacing is slow and I wanted something more to happen. While I wasn't as on edge as a story of this sort might have had me, I still enjoyed it.
Chloe's character is intriguing and I wanted to more about her and what happened the day of the accident. Because she has no memory of anything, including herself, we get to know her gradually as the story unfolds.
Chloe's family and their relationships frustrated me. I wanted and maybe expected more from her sister. From the beginning, it's clear that Chloe's father is a tyrant and her mother is timid, though we don't know exactly what's behind these dynamics. All of the people in Chloe's life are shrouded in mystery, and, like Chloe, we don't know who to trust.
I did figure out the "bad guy" and aspects of the various relationships, though the final twist at the end caught me by surprise.
This slow-burning suspense gives us a compelling look at the good and bad of human nature.
Another woman in a coma book where she wakes up with amnesia! I feel like there have been a ton of these the last few years. What is going on in society now that this odd genre is so compelling? This was pretty interesting and the twist of the dad being a psychologist who is going help her was a good one and added to the plot.

Can you guess who the liar is?
Just the thought of waking up in a hospital and not knowing who you are or how you got there is such a terrifying scenario. Chloe is told that she was involved in a terrible car accident, but she has no memory of her past.
When Chloe leaves the hospital she goes to live with a family that she doesn't remember, she doesn't know them. Her father is a doctor and is treating her amnesia, but is he telling her everything? Why would he lie to her? I didn't trust him either. Plenty of unreliable characters pop up in this book!
Lots of guessing and some suspenseful moments made this one a twisted puzzle. I liked Chloe and wanted a happy ending for her. The pace of the first half of the book was the best, as I was able to figure a few things out over the second half and wanted a bit more from the reveal.
Overall, it was entertaining and I think many will be more surprised at some of the twists than I was because I read so many thrillers.
Thanks to SMP for my copy to read/review.
I really hate giving bad reviews. And for me, Between the Lies wasn’t a terrible book. All of the basic elements were there. There was definitely a mystery. That is very clear in the beginning of the book. Because when Chloe wakes up with amnesia and doesn’t remember anything, the reader is just as confused as she is.
Things start coming back and she is having memories, but isn’t quite connecting with those memories on an emotional level. Now, I don’t know much about amnesia, but for the most part that made sense to me. But as she remembers more and more I found there to be a disconnect between everything she is remembering and her actions during the story. She is just so rational and logical. I don’t think I would be in the same situation.
I wanted to see more of her life before the accident that caused her amnesia. I feel like without that, I just didn’t form much of a connecting to Chloe. And there were certainly lots of twists and surprises, but even those were a bit confusing to me. I just didn’t understand what many of the characters motivations were for doing things.
So, in the end, this one just wasn’t for me. And I hate giving bad reviews because someone out there reading this review might just love the book.
Special thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an e-galley in exchange for my honest review. This one is available March 5, 2019. This review will appear on my blog, Women In Trouble Book Blog on February 15, 2019.
Holy page turner. From the very start this book grabbed me and did not let go. From page one it feels like Chloe's dad is very sketchy and up to something, especially since he is a doctor treating his own child. You don't have to do much more than watch a single episode of Greys Anatomy to know that is a huge no no in the medical field. As the story continues on and Chloe begins to unravel the lies, I just got more hooked on needing to know what happened. I did figure out who the "bad guy" was pretty early on, but it was strictly a feeling and I wouldn't have bet anything on it, so it just made me more anxious to finish and find out what happened. I wish it had given more insight into her mother and sister and the relationship they had with her super controlling father, or at least showed them standing by Chloe a bit more, but overall I loved and highly recommend this book!

"Life is given to us, a gift".
This is something that is currently very true in my life as I have to struggle with changes and starting to adapt.
This story is more a puzzle that the reader and Chloe has to piece together. Together we go on a journey to find out what happened that fateful night, who is to be trusted and who not. This book is about picking up your life without remembering what led to the accident that changed it, about finding yourself again.
I really enjoyed the story as well as the writing style of Michelle Adams.
This was a suspenseful page turner that kept me questioning everyone just like the main character had to do after not remembering anything after waking up. I couldn't put this one down ! A must read. #NetGalley #BetweenTheLies #MichelleAdams #StMartinsPress #StMartins #BookReview #Thriller #Fiction #Booklovers #library #Read
Thanks to the Publisher for the ARC.
You wake up and remember nothing. Then you find out people are lying to you. What is the truth, who can you trust? It's disturbing to think this could happen. I enjoyed the storyline and the plot twist. I had sort of worked out what was going on a little more than halfway through but enjoyed how everything was tied together.
Indeed, this is not the first book about memory loss that I read. What Chloe experienced was also not alone. There are a number of movie or drama characters with stories like Chloe. But this is not what I want to say.
I am bound by the title, about “Lies” words. Imagine being Chloe actually makes the reader have to ask a lot of questions. I like that too. Spending a few sheets of this book, made more and more questions in my mind. Who is lying? Who is the family who acknowledges and loves Chloe when in the hospital? Is Chloe lying too? Why is there a lie?
Every fact revealed, I nodded. This is what I think. This is what I expected. I enjoy reading this book.
If we become patient readers, then the mystery will be solved from sheet to sheet. What Chloe's past looks like, why could she be in the hospital?, and another story. I can also feel sad and anxious about being Chloe. I started thinking about mental and physical health that were no longer the same. And the dilemma is because of doubtful feelings and reality.
If you ask about this book? I would say that this is very touching and binding. I certainly have favorite characters and unpleasant characters. I want to praise the author, really, this story is very touching and does not disappoint.

You'll need a scorecard to keep up with all the players in this twisty tale of a young woman who wakes up in a hospital after a devastating car crash and has no idea who she is, how she got there, or even the smallest detail of her life. After being discharged, Chloe Daniels goes "home" with her parents and sister-people who are now virtual strangers to Chloe-to recuperate, regain her memory, and rebuild her life. With the help of her father (who just happens to be a psychiatrist specializing in patients with amnesia), Chloe begins the fragile process of reconstructing her life, especially the events leading up to the accident. But her father evades all of Chloe's questions-even mundane ones about her job and friends, and her mother and sister seem complicit in keeping Chloe in the dark. As she regains bits of her memory Chloe begins to fear the worst-is her family hiding things from her because she is responsible for the crash? And who is the child Chloe sees in her dreams? Everyone seems to be keeping secrets, making Between the Lies a giant guessing game. Miss Adams throws in curveballs at every turn, ratcheting up the suspense with each one. Between the Lies is deep and dark, and your head will spin with theories about what really happened. You'll know right from the start something is wrong-the real treat is sorting out the good guys from the bad. The answers are there-you just have to read Between the Lies to find them.
I was intrigued by Between the Lies from the first page. This is about a women named Chloe and how she has lost her memory after a car accident. She is living with the people who say they are her parents and sister but Chloe has no way to know the truth about anything as the book begins.
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this novel and I enjoyed the little pages in between the chapters from a mystery characters POV. I also liked how you couldn't tell how reliable of a narrator Chloe is as she is finding out important information at the same moment you are.
I would have given this more stars but I could guess what had occured earlier on then I would have liked and once or twice I got a little bored with the story but overall this was a super quick, enjoyable read with a ton of twists and turns! I will definitely be reading more of Michelle's work!
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this netgalley arc!

Secrets? Who do you trust? When Chloe wakes up from her coma, who and what should she believe? This was a riveting story and I enjoyed reading it until the end. Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
