Maybe it was because I thought this was going to be a more lighthearted romance, but The House at Greenacres was much heavier and slow moving that I was looking forward to. Plus, so many inconsistencies with the family.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

I’ve read a lot of Darcie Boleyn’s books and enjoyed them. This one was good, a little repetitive and I skim read some of it, but I can see this being a series I’d look out for. I wasn’t sure if I’d missed the first book and this was the second, I’d have to check. I’d look out for the next book. Thank you for accepting my request.

Heartwarming and familiar, The House at Greenacres is like a comforting hug.

This is one of those books where you just want to step inside the pages and escape into the blissful world the characters inhabit. I don't know about you, but a holiday to Penhallow Sands would be very welcome - especially given the current state of the world.

The main character Holly is likeable and relatable. She's a caring mother to her baby son, Luke, and is devoted to her family and the family vineyard. Holly's surrounded by a wider cast of characters, from her beloved dad, Bruce, to best friend Fran, and her quirky granny Glenda. And, of course, there's Rich, Holly's ex.

Although I loved the characters and the setting, I did struggle with the plot. Admittedly, this isn't the longest book, but to be honest, not much actually happens in this book. The ending is obvious from the start and there are no twists or curveballs, so there is very little suspense. I did enjoy the book but I flew through it and was left wishing for something a little more memorable.

Despite that, The House at Greenacres offers a pleasant way to spend a few hours dreaming of happier times.

I am a huge fan of Darcie Boleyn's books, and this one certainly didn't disappoint.

Lovely story set in Cornwall, one of my favourite places- sometimes I wanted to shake Holly, but on the whole it was true to life and felt real.

3.5 stars.

I really struggled to get into this book, mainly as my grandad has recently passed away. I didn't read the blurb, I just knew Darcie's books normally give me a smile. Starting to read the book with "Because there it was. The coffin that held the body of her grandpa." I'll be frank and say that I gave up reading this book for quite a while for no other reason than personal feelings. I was not in the right headspace for this book and my rating probably reflects this.

Holly has returned home following the death of her grandfather. She has returned with a 3 month old son and is surrounded with secrets after departing abruptly the previous year. Unbeknownst to him, the father of her son is also at the funeral and he is cause of all of her heartache.

I assumed at the start of the book that Holly would be trying to keep Luke's father a secret. But it's revealed very quickly and just felt like it was made to be barely a plot point. It felt very predictable and like there wasn't a lot happening at times. The entire story is based on Rich trying to win Holly back and Holly liking him back throughout the book but not acting on it. It was a fairly sweet read with Holly wanting Rich and her family to have a relationship with their son and trying to make amends with those she left behind. Despite this, it was still an enjoyable read with charming characters.

A really lovely tale about relationships, family and parenting. This author is able to transport you to the settings of her books and this is no exception. I enjoyed this book as some light relief from the outside world and particularly enjoyed the insights into the world of vineyards. 4*

When Holly returns back to her childhood home for her grandfather’s funeral after 12 months of being away, she is dreading seeing people. This time she has her baby and she has to tell his father about him. Can she face up to staying here where she is needed by her family?
I’m a huge fan of Darcie’s books and this one was beautiful. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for my honest.

I’ve been lucky enough to review a Darcie Boleyn book before, when I was part of the blog tour for her feel-good wintery novel, Love at the Northern Lights. Opening up another one of her books and falling back into her writing felt so comfortable and cosy – she has a wonderful way with words and her imagination is a place I’d like to live in!
After being let down by her partner Rich, Holly Dryden left her family home (and vineyard!) at Penhallow Sands nearly a year ago. Following her grandfather’s death though she has returned and has a surprise with her – her three-month-old son, Luke. As Rich bonds with the son he had no clue existed, Holly finds herself reminded of the things she’d loved about life on the Cornish coast – including Rich. Can she put their past behind them and open herself up to the future?
This book kind of spells out my actual fantasy life. I mean, living on a vineyard in Cornwall, with beautiful coastal scenery nearby, big plans for the family business, surrounded by wonderful friends and family and the cutest dog around? Yeah, sounds pretty good to me! I really loved the plot of this novel; while I did kind of know where it was going, I also loved the flashbacks dotted throughout that slowly revealed what had gone wrong between Holly and Rich, and why. This is a book that really highlights the importance of communication, and I absolutely loved that the characters didn’t just get emotional based on assumptions they’d made – they fully discussed their feelings and worked through them together. It really showed the maturity they’d both gained.
One of my favourite things about Darcie Boleyn’s writing is the way she creates such multifaceted characters, even when they are secondary players to the action. I’m really not a fan of books which are crammed full of names but we never get to know the person behind them. This is very much not the case in The House at Greenacres! Every single character has their own story, real and believable personalities, and brings something to the book. While I was completely rooting for Holly and Rich throughout, I also fell in love with Holly’s dad and granny. I love the emphasis that was placed on family ties in this book. The most important relationships in life aren’t all romantic ones, and I really loved how Holly supported and was supported by her family.
This is a thoroughly charming read. Everything about it appealed to me – from the setting to the characters to the uplifting nature of the plotline. It’s the perfect spring/summer book and will leave you wistfully wishing you were in Penhallow Sands yourself!

This book caught my attention due to its beautiful cover. When I finished to read it I could notice that the story is as good as the cover.
If you don’t believe in the second chances, maybe you should read “The House at Greenacres”, you will be able to check yourself that second chances can even be better than the first ones.
This uplifting romance will make you feel good while you spend a good time with its reading.

Im delighted to share my review with you today of #TheHouseAtGreenacres by @darcieboleynauthor as part of her blog tour with @canelo_co
#TheHouseAtGreenacres is one of 3 standalone new novels by Darcie Boleyn set at the idyllic fictional location of Penhallow Sands and is a delightful story of new beginnings.

The story follows Holly as she returns to her family home and vineyard, but in returning she has to face what she ran from... Rich and him breaking her heart.
Since leaving Penhallow Sands, life has dramatically changed for Holly forcing her and Rich to communicate and get along, but its not a smooth ride as Rich has his own troubles to deal with.
There's also the fact that the business isn't doing as well as it could.
As Holly tries to save the vineyard and quash her feelings for Rich we are taken on a journey of forgiveness and honesty.

#TheHouseAtGreenacres is a heart warming, lovely read that will have you dreaming of sunny days and happy ever afters

I could not put this down.
Thoroughly enjoyable with an amazing cast of characters that you cannot help but engage with.

Full of family and friends, The House at Greenacres is a heart-warming and enjoyable read. Holly proves to be a caring character who appreciates the life and community she has at Penhallow Sands. Rich turns out to be a harder character to read. You are gradually introduced to the demons in his past and to understand why he felt he could not commit to Holly. However, it takes time to get to know him and to see his hidden depths.

I particularly liked the secondary characters, especially Holly's grandmother. It was good to see how loved she was despite her eccentric behaviour and she certainly contributed some humorous touches to the story. You never get to actually meet Holly's grandfather as he has died before the story started but his strong personality lingers in the farmhouse. I can foresee a sequel to the story, especially centred around Holly's friend, Fran and fingers crossed, there will be one.

In short: A mix of family, friendship and beautiful Cornwall adds up to a great read.

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.

This is another emotive, heartwarming story from this talented author - I really recommend you grab yourself a copy and read that instead of my review!

It is a second-chance romance in which the couple broke up nearly a year ago when Rich Turner was struggling to cope with everything fate had thrown at him and finished their relationship. Holly Dryden's reaction was to run but she's returned home after the death of her grandfather and she's not alone - she hadn't realised she was pregnant when she left but now she's back with their baby, Luke. With family and business difficulties looming large, it isn't an easy return for any of them. As Rich steps up to help, can love find a way to help them become a family together and save the vineyard or will fate tear them apart again?Darcie is absolutely brilliant at bringing her characters, settings and events vividly to life in the imagination of her readers. The descriptions of Penhallow Sands are so evocative, it feels like I've actually been there so I'm very happy this is the start of a new series set in that location.

This is a real roller coaster emotional ride, with surprising ups and downs, twists and turns, taking the reader along through all the dilemmas and turmoil to the heartwarming ending. It is a story I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this story via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
