I was given a copy of Shackledown by Courtney Williamson Milford in exchange for an honest review. The book is about a family who buy a house, then on their daughter's 8th birthday a ghost appears and stays for days after her birthday then disappears again only to return the following year. Along with the ghost their are also flocks of birds that also appear. When the ghost is 100 hundred years old the find out the story of the ghost. I found this book very hard to follow as it moves backwards and forwards through times plus there are far too many characters. unfortunately it just wasn't for me.

This book was a pleasant surprise! It was full of mystery and intrigue. The development of the characters was exciting to see as they progressed into complex people with emotions and attachments. This was a joy to read!

Shackledown is told from multiple perspectives, as you read about a present day family living in a house that is being haunted by a past resident of that house. I really enjoyed the mix of historical fiction with paranormal fiction, but unfortunately I had a little trouble following the plot. It jumped around a little too much for my liking, and made it difficult for me to really connect with the characters.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley.

I really try to be respectful in my reviews, but this was.... not a good read at all.
it was not written well.... it was difficult to follow as it jumped around.

Had a very hard time reading this. It felt like random sections of story were jumping forward in time. I had to re-read lines often to make sure I hadn't skipped over anything. The dialogue felt like it was written by a kid, characters said the weirdest things and just accepted situations.. unnaturally? I'm not sure how to describe it, I just really did not enjoy this.
