The premise of this book was inviting. I recently turned 41 and have become slightly obsessed with my own mortality. I was excited to read about this man, who instead of accepting his own imminent death, agrees to be the guinea pig for a highly experimental and secret brain procedure. If that description doesn't grab you, what would? But this book with the awesome premise has some serious problems with execution. The pacing was off, and the book did not hold my interest.

Michael will be the subject for a partial brain transplant as soon as a donor is available. Suffering with terrible headaches, Michael doesn't know how much pain he can take. Of course all he can be sure of is dying before/unless the "experimental" operation can even be performed.

Meanwhile, the Paxton family is having their own woes. Elliott had taken up with a woman (other than his wife, Catherine) even to the point of wanting to marry the woman (Stephanie). Stephanie must be looking where the money is because Elliott's son, Garrett, figures nicely into the tangled web.

Michael does get a donor but it is what happens after this procedure that has raised more than a few eyebrows. Particularly that of his doctor...

What price does everyone have to pay ? A brilliant read!

Many Thanks to The Wild Rose Press, Inc. and NetGalley for a true thriller!

When Professor Michael Peterson learns he has a terminal brain tumor and is faced with no other viable options, he promises complete confidentially to undergo an experimental and highly secretive operation in brain cell grafting. While recuperating, he begins to have flashes of fragmented images that have no connection to his life. He soon realizes he is an unwilling participant in a murder plan initiated by his donor. Drawn into a maze of deceit and danger, Michael must choose between keeping his word to the person who saved his life or making an attempt to save the life of a complete stranger.

WOW. This book was a seriously good book. More than I bargained for. You must give this book a try.
Thank you, NetGalley for the advance copy for review.
