It is a fun light read. Casper the cat ties everything together quite well, if it was just the girl alone it would have been really bad. Her mind's scattered, and yet she's always looking on the bright side of life. There are some parts of the book that could have been done better, but overall the story stays true to its title and target. This is a good light read, as long as you don't really think that Casper actually tells her who to date.

I liked the premise of this book, just not the execution so much because I was expecting something lighthearted. I feel like almost everyone in this book was manipulative - the hero, the heroine, the friends... The cat. It got a lot deeper than I thought it would and, eventually, I got SO fed up with the heroines friends trying to interfere in her life that I just skim read the rest (more manipulation and misunderstandings). Everyone seemed quite immature and it's almost as if the book was aimed at teens, not adults.
As always, not a fan of the narrative (first person) and feel like this book had so much potential but was let down by poisonous characters.
1 star.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Clara cat Casper never likes any of her dates. In fact she has had to buy new trousers for her last date. As Casper scratched him!

After a heart to heart with her best friend Heather, Clara thought well if anyone is worth having. Casper will like him. So from then on Casper was in charge of her love life.

So when Casper purs and warms to vet Josh, Clara begin to think well maybe he is the one.

Adam was out cycling home when he swerves to miss Clara cat. He ends up injuring himself.
The next day he was at work when suddenly he found a woman on his lips. And papers all over the floor.... he recongises that woman...

With both men wanting Clara affections who will she end up with?

Wow this book is my new favourite romance book! I am not into romance as they tend to be the same but this book was different.

The title was the first thing that intrigued me. My daughter loves animals and this remind me of her. I can imagine her when she is older with many cats.

I found this book so funny and entertaining. Even laughing out loud at times. It has been a while since I have found a romance author who can make me laugh.

I did find the ending predictable but there were a few crazy and funny stories tucked in to make it worth reading.

Definitely add this book to your list!

3.5* But there weren't 10 things that Casper hated about anyone. He was just a normal, spoilt puss!

I liked Casper the cat most out of the various characters in this, then the vet and then Adam and then Carrie. Not sure that's the right order that the author intended, yet that's how they impacted on me. But, Casper wasn't a monster and was pretty much an average cat who owned some human slaves and who was king of his little castle. In Catlandia, visitors are either approved or rejected, and favours are bestowed or scratches are dispensed - quite normal cat behaviour. Casper didn't hate 10 things, or not that I counted, at least.

In terms of the storyline, it's rather far fetched, but it works. Having visited Cambridge extensively on foot this summer, it was like being back there with the author's descriptions. Though, I'm not sure it's that easy to fall into the Cam, or equally, to get out.

I'm not sure that I loved how the tale ended or who Carrie ended up with. The bout of in vino veritas showed a bit of a bitter, not-that-good-a-friend side of her, so for me, she wasn't a heroine I was rooting for. Now if only Adam and the vet had gotten together....hmmm. Yum. Oh, but to give her her dues, the author writes pretty nicely and I'd read more from her - there aren't enough tales set in the UK by British authors; I think the latter add an authenticity others can't quite match.

This book was cute, quirky, and really fun. Sometimes you just need a romantic comedy in book form to make you feel better because life can be so heavy.

Casper the cat might be my favorite fictional cat of all time. Clara was a great heroine and even though the premise seemed ridiculous, I ended this book with a smile on my face and I can’t wait to see what this author will write in the future.

This book was a bit on the crazy side, and there were times that I wanted to throttle Clara. That being said it does have its good points. Thank you to netgalley for the ARC!

You know when you read a romance and you get all warm and fuzzy and have this goofy sort of smile on your face? Lucas' novel is ideal to get your mind off of things and your heart fluttering.

While romcom is not typically the genre I delve into, I am obsessed with cats and really wanted to give this one a try! I expected some comedy, snark, and sneakiness from a cat hell bent on hating the new man in town. What we get is an angsty cat named Casper who, unfortunately, causes a bike accident instigating a meeting between Adam and Clara. Clara is smitten immediately and runs several scenarios through her head on happily ever afters. Unfortunately he couldn’t pick her face out in a crowd if asked until a second meeting ends in a kiss. Clara brings Casper to yet another vet and meets Josh: the warm and compassionate new vet who believes he can handle Caspers spunkiness.
The book reads like a “dear diary” of a teenager not used to attention and not being able to grasp the nuances of of adult relationships. She plays around with one guy while missing the cues of the other one actually wanting a relationship with her. She believes she’s in a relationship that was never a relationship and almost ends up alone completely.
The cat has little to do with the actual storyline except when she uses the cat to describe her own feelings by playing them off as things the cat dislikes.
Overall the book is a good read and easy to get through as long as you can reminisce your own teenager angst to relate

So cute! 4 stars because there were moments that drove me crazy (in a bad way) when I wanted to shake her and Freddie, but otherwise the story was super! I loved Adam and Caspar!

I thought the premise of this book was both unrealistic and promising. Regardless, it was very unique.

We all have a friend like Clara—the one who’s obsessed with romance and pretty much approaches each relationship as if he was The One. With everyone dear to her in a loving relationship, all Clara wants is to find the man of her dreams—and one that won’t run from her obnoxious cat.

Enter Adam Warwick, a professor. A bike riding accident caused by Casper results in Clara meeting him—albeit he never actually sees her face. The next day while trying to escape her boss, she pretends to know — and ends up accidentally kissing him.

But, wait, there’s a second man. Josh Granger is the new vet who offered to take on Casper despite all the terror he’s caused other vets. He’s nice, understands Clara’s love for Casper, and has a great sense of humor.

In most ways this book was pretty predictable. However, I was still often surprised. I genuinely liked the characters and some of them were well developed. I absolutely loved the development of Adam. My only complaint (if I had to give one) was that the beginning was a little predictable and cheesy. I ended up getting super invested in Clara’s story and the ending was excellent.

Ten Things My Cat Hates About You is a fun read about a woman named Clara and her cat who chases away all potential boyfriends, and a grumpy professor of Classical Studies. Yum. This book is full of banter and loveable characters, and the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful. If you love reading books set in England (or Cambridge, specifically), I'm sure you'd love this book. If you enjoy history and museums, you'd love it even more.

An incorrigible cat, a handsome vet and a very grumpy Professor, set against the backdrop of Cambridge and its colleges. Not a setup that I'm familiar with (although I do have the incorrigible cat and I'm told that I can be grumpy) but, non the less, I found this a story that I could lose myself in. Whilst Clara finds her way in life she has to balance her job in a small museum with an unexpected visit from her brother, whilst Casper terrorises the neighbourhood and scares away potential boyfriends. Well worth a read.
