A really in-depth, steamy, perhaps kinky, suspenseful romantic story that takes a lot of turns and leaves you breathless. A good story to make the world fall away and entertain you.

Wow, savage, scary Ilya Dragonovich is fighting his feelings for Emma Jane for over a year and only goes to her when he finds out that a group of assassins went to her house and attempted to kill her.

Emma Jane is such a strong, no-nonsense woman who we later find out has a bit of a kinky side. She is probably is the only woman who isn't trembling in fear when she meets Ilya and even teases him a little!

Kind of disappointed that Ilya was going to other women to try and get him over his frustrated sexual attraction to Emma Jane.

Lots of action, drama, interesting background information about Ilya's past, and lots and lots of romance as Ilya keeps fighting his love for EJ as he knows that his life is dangerous and his enemies are countless and he is scared that she can't handle his life and that her life will be in danger.

I am glad that we get the explanation towards the end of the why and who is behind the two attacks on EJ. One thing I really wish was spelled out for me, as I am not good with bits that are inferred - Matt's mother obviously was helping the enemy but was it just because she blamed EJ for all the problems with Matt and was the father involved? Another thing that confused me, when Alexi arrives to help Ilya save the day, he is also called Rurik or did I misunderstand and there was another person there!? That was a bit confusing for me but maybe because I have not read any other books in this series and that may have explained it??

Those were just little things and over all the book was so action packed and I loved the interaction between Ilya and EJ and her family that wanted to keep her safe - so much emotion and love! I can't wait for more of these characters!

Ilya Dragonovich knew Emma Jane Preston is the one woman created to be his at first sight. Given the shadow criminal world he's a part of and his enemies who will destroy her if they learn who she is to him he keeps her at a safe distance. However when her home is breached in the dead of the night, all bets are off and Ilya arrives in full protection and possessive mode to make Emma his despite all his fears and qualms.
Emma had married her childhood sweetheart who abused her both physically and emotionally and stripped her of her security by mortgaging her house to the hilt. Too proud to accept help from her family who adore her and her friend's who are secret agents and fully able to protect her she signs a deal with Ilya Dragonovich for the use of her home as a safe house. She is definitely wary of romance and all things soft and yet Ilya or the dragon fascinates her.
The author introduces a host of new characters while the key characters from the earlier books in the series have cameo appearances in this one. Emma however stands out in her sweetness and steadfastness. There is always a level of heat in Ms. leigh's books but this one also has a lot of heart. Emma slowly peels the wary armor that Ilya wears determined to conquer and own his heat despite the distance he attempts to keep.
Ilya's Romany past makes for a great back story and his family and body guards as they show up in the small town where he and Emma are current based add an excellent element to the story. I have not always enjoyed Ms. Leigh recently but this story struck a nice chord for me and I would love to see where the author will go next with this series.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆☆
This is the third in the series, each with a new relationship, but carrying on the story, so we see development of the previous ones.

Ilya is a man who has known great suffering, and as the next leader of the Dragon clan, he has lived his whole life in danger. Sadly, as we find out, the most awful things which happened to him where perpetrated by those who should love him the most. Yet for all that darkness, he is someone who comes over as incredibly sensitive and passionate too. He recognises Emma Jane as his mate, but has stayed away for her safety, although ensuring that she is not rendered homeless or without income. She has a despicable ex-husband who would do anything to see her fall, and this ultimately brings the situation to a head.

I loved the drama, the sexual tension, which is exquisite, and the slow revelation of what they are to each other and how much they have to gain by acknowledging their love, lust, and passion for each other. Emma Jane is such a wonderful mix of innocent yet strong, hopeful, loyal, and utterly trusting in Ilya's ability to support her, but not control her.

There is undoubtedly more to come in this fabulously intense and powerful series, I am already looking forward to reading the next one!

M/F Paranormal Romance

This is the third book in the series and while you don’t necessarily have to read them in order, they are very good.

This is Ilya Dragonovich’s story. He is an important man in the underworld and while he knows who he is and what he is, he just is not quite sure if he’s ready to take his spot.

Emma Jane is a strong, independent, and fierce woman. She knows that she has gotten a bad deal with her ex-husband creating issues for her. And while she knows that her family loves her, she just couldn’t quite bring herself to lean on them when she needed them most.

Now that Emma Jane is working with Ilya’s group, she knows that she’ll need to be even more secretive with her family and that doesn’t sit great with her. She wants to be honest with them.

Ilya is powerful in his own right, but when Emma Jane is in danger, his inner dragon comes out to protect without fail. Ilya’s family drama has been brought to Emma Jane’s doorstep and while Ilya wants to be able to sweep it under the rug and not think about it, he’ll have to face it head on.

These two have a simmering chemistry that can only be found after denying their impulses for so long. They feed off each other and that’s because they are destined to be together.

I really enjoyed watching this story unfold. It has action, love, passion, craziness, and loyalty all wrapped in a package that is made of a dragon’s love and devotion.

Potential Triggers: Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Attempted Murder

This is the third book the Brute Force series but the first book in this series for me. Ilya has a dark past but when he meets the woman he wants for his own that past might be the very thing that make him lose her forever. Emma Jane married young and that marriage quickly turned to crap. Now stuck because of her vengeful ex Ilya comes to help her when she is attacked in her home. This book is typical of Lora Leigh's writing. A little bit of a paranormal flavor with some romantic suspense. Lots of sexy erotic sex scenes and hot alpha men. I loved that Ilya called Emma by her first and middle name. It was adorable and she called him Dragon also adorable. The editing left something to be desired but I'm hoping the final version of this book was better. Some things in this book were a bit out there. Characters from previous books mentioned once and then nothing. Over all i enjoyed the book. For me the main characters were just so hot together that i didn't care about some of the things that didn't work for me.

It's been awhile since I've read a book from this author, have really enjoyed them in the past, but I had a difficult time with this book. The story started off a bit confusing for me, the characters jumped around, not giving me a good foundation on the story to build from. Definitely a dark story, probably would have helped if I had read the previous books in the series, but overall it was just okay for me.

He is no stranger to the dark side and as a safe-house owner for the Brute Force security agency, Dragon knows that that battle line between good and evil runs through the heart of every man – even beautiful women. She need help, but the kind of protection that Emma Jane needs comes at a cost – one that only someone like Dragon can provide.

This romantic suspense is the type of romance that speaks to readers and has them drooling over the sexy hero with the dark side. The chemistry between Dragon and Emma Jane sizzles with heat from every page and the couple certainly have no trouble with the passion side of things as this story has pretty steamy interactions but the relationship however has some issues due to Emma Jane’s trust issues and Dragon’s fearing no woman would be able to handle this rough, tough, scary alpha male with a very dark past. So this story while passionate has quite a bit of emotional turmoil flowing from the pages, especially with fear and anger that the situation is causing.

The story is fast paced and full of danger, excitement and lots of thrills as everyone tries to determine just who has targeted Emma Jane for death. The story not only several adrenaline pumping attacks on Emma Jane but the story also has the unfolding story involving the details of Dragon’s past and a family legend that adds lots of fascination and intrigue to the story as well. Readers can’t take their eyes from the pages with the never ending suspense and surprising twists that keeps readers gripping the book in a white knuckled grip.

4.25 Stars

This is the third book in the Brute Force series by Lora Leigh.

I wasn’t sure exactly what level of sexy to expect from this book. I wasn’t certain if Leigh was a more erotic author or just a run of the mill romantic suspense maven. What I found was somewhere in between.

Ilya was super intense in that brooding, no one really understands me type of way. And Emma Jane didn’t seem to want to let the happiness live at her residence. I didn’t quite understand either of them. I feel like their problems and situation could have been figured out much earlier if they both learned to compromise.

Ilya didn’t communicate enough and neither did EJ. They pretty much set themselves up for failure from the start as if each of them didn’t deserve the love of the other.

Like I said above this was an intense, intense book. It gave me a headache at times but I am glad that the author found a way to make it all come together in the end. I felt like it was a bit iffy all the way through the book. Not as many sexy scenes as I anticipated but it was a well rounded romantic suspense that kept me guessing until the end.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Lora Leigh did a great job with this one. I love books where the hero and heroine seemingly have nothing in common and come from different worlds. The added suspense was perfect and kept me glued to the pages.

Ilya Dragonovich and Emma Jane Preston are from two different worlds but the attraction between them is undeniable. Dragon is part of Brute Force and gets to know Emma when he is purchasing her childhood home to turn into a safe house for his boss. Emma is in the midst of a divorce and needs the money to keep her home. Dragon knows she's the one for him but doesn't approach her then. A year later, Emma is in need of protection as assassin's have broken into her home to kill her. Her ex husband was dealing with shady people. I liked that Emma was strong, independent and intelligent. She was a perfect match for Dragon. Dragon is caring, protective and will do what it takes to get a job done. This story kept me on edge til the last page.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

Not my favorite book by Lora Leigh but certainly one that anyone looking for a sexy read should enjoy. I enjoyed that part of the story a lot. Not a fan of how quick the conflict came and went but still an over all good romantic suspense read. I will say that the whole *dragon tattoo* madness was a bit much. There were points in the story where my mind didn't really know if it was reading a paranormal read or not. I'm not keen on paranormal reads so I wasn't happy about my confusion, hence the *not my favorite* statement earlier. Honestly, I could have done with none of that being in the book LOL A definite solid 3.5 star rating from me but I can't round up to 4 *shrug*

This is Ilya and Emma's story and the 3rd book in the Brute Force series. Ilya is a hitman and a Romanian Mafia Prince. He meets Emma one year earlier and knows she is his mate but it is not to be. However, ever since then, neither has been able to forget each other. Ilya gets a call that Emma's life has been targeted and he quickly returns to her. Emma fights her feelings for Ilya knowing that they don't have a future together. Ilya has a past and his present is strife with trouble. I loved all the past characters. I am really intrigued as to Ilya's half brother, Alexei. I hope we get a story about him soon. Filled with suspense, action, hot intense alpha loving and a HEA makes for an awesome read. Loved it!

Lora Leigh is a new to me author and I'm very happy I gave this book a try.
Lethal Nights is book three in her Brutal Force series. Every book in this series is about another couple and can easily be read as standalones. The previous books are Collision Point and Dagger's Edge.
Ilya Nicholas Dragovich isn't a good man. He knows the dark side.
Emma Jane Preston is a divorced woman and needs help, desperatedly. Her ex was involved with shady characters , now she's the one who needs protection.
The question is, can she trust this charismatic man or should she run for her life.
Lethal Nights is a fst paced, nailbiting pageturner that had me on the edge of my seat. I read the book in sitting, I had to know what happens to the characters. I loved the story and the writing, 4,5 stars.

3.75 stars--LETHAL NIGHTS is the third instalment in Lora Leigh’s contemporary, adult BRUTE FORCE erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for the security agency Brute Force. This is Russian/Romanian enforcer, Dragon heir/son Ilya Dragonovich, and PA Emma Jane Preston’s story line. LETHAL NIGHTS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line content, there may be some scenes no suitable for more sensitive readers.

Told from several third person perspectives including Ilya and Emma Jane, LETHAL NIGHTS focuses on Ilya Dragonovich’s desperate need to keep Emma Jane Preston safe. One year earlier, the Brute Force organization and Ilya Dragonovich made EJ Preston an offer she couldn’t refuse, an offer that saved her home in the wake of her impending divorce from husband Matt Lauren. Fast forward to present day wherein Emma Jane Preston has been targeted by an unknown assailant who is determined to destroy Ilya by killing the woman he loves. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Ilya and Emma, and the potential fall-out as Ilya’s past comes to America in an effort to reclaim what was, and what will never be.

Ilya Dragonovich’s childhood was the stuff of nightmares. As the Dragon heir and son to the Dragonovich ‘family’, Ilya found himself between worlds, world that were about to combust and collide. EJ Preston only wanted to live her life in peace but never stopped thinking about the man she met one year earlier. Several attempts on her life would bring Emma Jane’s past into focus, but it was Ilya’s past that would take aim at life and love.

The relationship between Ilya and Emma Jane is one of immediate attraction but their initial introduction found Ilya walking away from the woman with whom he would fall in love. In the middle of a divorce, Emma did not want to further complicate her life, and Ilya was a complication she could no longer avoid. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and passionate.

We are re-introduced to former crime boss, and Ilya’s ‘brother’ Ivan Resnova; Brute Force agent John Sawyer; as well as Ivan’s Dragon team: Max, Elizaveta, Grisha and Tobias; and Emma Jane’s brother Ronan Preston, their father Calvin Preston; and Emma Jane’s former husband Matt Lauren. The requisite evil has many faces.

LETHAL NIGHTS is a gritty story of family and betrayal; power and control; arrogance, force and feisty determination. The premise is raw and dramatic; the romance is provocative; the characters are energetic, colorful and strong but Emma Jane is a little TSTL (too stupid to live)in that she places herself in the direct line of fire.

Lethal Nights
Brute Force series book #3
Release Date: September 24, 2019
Review Copy Provided by the Publisher

Lora Leigh is one of my unicorn authors. I have devoured her novels for years! I was so excited to dive into her newest book.

Ilya is a typical Lora Leigh hero, which I adore. He’s growly, stubborn, alpha, and oozes hot sexy times! Emma is the kind of heroine that I really like. She’s spunky, sassy, independent, and kind. She also has that vulnerability that I like to see in a heroine.

The chemistry between the two was off the charts. It just kept building and building. By the time things came to a head, I thought I was going to scream “thank god!”. Lora Leigh knows how to keep the reader on their toes when it comes to the rising lust between her characters.

As much as I liked this book, I struggled a bit. There’s constant mention of dragons. Dragon tribes, dragon bloodlines, dragon mates, and other mystical type of stuff. I started to wonder if I was reading a paranormal romance rather than romantic suspense. I think the flow of the story would have worked better had those things not been so prominent. I started to skim over those parts.

One thing I can always count on with a Lora Leigh novel is the intricately woven suspense storyline. There was a great balance of romance and action.

This book wasn’t my favourite in the series. It didn’t grab me quite like the first two books did, but I am definitely looking forward to the next instalment!
