AMAZING!!! Simply AMAZING!!! LOVED IT! So as I have said before, I am jumping all around with these books but Ms. Grant does do a great job in recapping some of what is going on. This is Bernadette and Kelton' s story and it was fleshed out and gave me a bit more insight as to what is coming next. Kelton finds his true mate in Bernadette though in his mind, he really did not want to have one. Bernadette has found some really interesting information and Kelton is tasked in finding out how she knows what she knows. When Kelton realizes who she is to him, he is now beholden to her in only a true mate can be. Filled with action , more stories within stories, some secrets revealed and finally a sort of conclusion that will bring on the next heat wave. Lol. See what I did there? I FREAKING LUUUURRRVVVEEEE DRAGONS!!!! Another awesome read, by a super storyteller. Loved it so freaking much!!! 4.5 stars*****

There are a lot of back stories at this point in the series, and it's definitely not where I'd suggest someone start reading Donna Grant! As a returning reader though, I have to say I love the way she continues to drive the series plot while giving a satisfying book plot. Dr. Bernadette Davies is very vocal about the fact that dragons exist. Keltan is sent to Glasgow to attend one of her lectures and investigate what she knows and how she knows it. Of course, there's some magic driving her behavior, but a romance brews in spite of that.
We've been building up to the war with Usaeil. Now with Con missing the Dragon Kings are doing what they can to prepare for that they must do. The Kings are running out of time to give up Rhi. I was so tense for this showdown!
Despite all that is going on with the upcoming war, the Kings still must do what they can to hide their existence from humans. Keltan is the King sent to investigate a human that is holding a lecture trying to prove that dragons are real. Bernadette has spent the last year of her life totally devoted to outing the dragons. It's not until she is confronted with Keltan and the truth is revealed do the duo start working together for their part of the war.
Keltan did not want a mate, so he resists, but he can't deny his feelings for Bernadette. The upcoming war is going to test his feelings. I'm not too sure how I feel about where we leave this couple. It is not the HEA I would anticipate, but it creates questions on what could come next. It makes me question all the couples. The Others have been making plans for centuries. All that has been happening could be plans from the Others coming to fruition.
Fever had great action and I loved seeing how the war played out with the different factions. I am left dying to know of the fates of our favorite characters. This part of the war may be over but there is still so much more for the Dragon Kings to face. The combination of the war action and the love connection between Keltan and Bernadette was a great mix. The balance kept me reading and the surprises drew many moments of shock. I loved Fever and am dying for the answers to all the questions that have been raised!
I really enjoyed this! I honestly had no previous knowledge from Donna Grant's other books, but they are ALL now added to my good reads TBR list. I feel a reading marathon in my future, much like when I discovered Laura Thalassa. I have a list of steamy romances that, after getting a third of the way through, I put them down, but this was not the case with Fever. I was invested in the characters and plot, and was able to follow along without knowing the other back stories from the other books in the series. Nicely done!
Things is seeming to the end in Fever which is kinda exciting but sad to say goodbye. There is so much going that you will need to take your time in reading so you won't miss any details beforehand.
Let's get started with Kelton. He is very well-known in the Dragon community that he is discovering if the expose of the dragon will be leak into the human world. But things become complicated when he meets Bernadette. She is very smart and witty that it throws him off but not too long. They soon become partner since big things are coming toward the end. And it's going to be explosive. I won''t spoil any details.
Fever will bring old characters back but it also will bring some new character too.
Three and Half Stars.
I have received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Fever was a dragon book that I needed but never knew I actually did. It was such a fun book to dive into. It didn't matter that I went rogue throughout this series because Donna is such a great writer! I, of course, will definitely stop slacking and pick up myself off the ground and dive into the whole entire series. One day.
In this book, you will meet a crap ton of amazing characters. I feel like each one that we meet just makes the entire book, no series, that much better!! The romance was everything that my eyes could handle - even if I want to eat up way more of it. Ugh, SO MUCH MORE!!!
I don't think I've ever yelled at an ARC before.. or my phone (unless it was a game.. god dammit those cooking games!) but definitely did this time around. So much happened that I'm surprised I didn't piss off anyone around me.
Overall, definitely need to finish this series out and fall back in love with characters!!
Another great novel about the Dragon Kings and I'm quickly becoming entangled I their world. In this story you get Kelton a dragon king who sees no need for a mate and is perfectly happy single. But bring I a brilliant anthropologist who has put together that dragons and their Kings are real and Bam! You get one hot story.
Of course there is suspense and for those that have been waiting, there is a great battle that leaves a lot in chaos in the Fae wolrd but brings a little bit to the end of an era. It does make you wonder what is next in this world. Great story, great characters. Really enjoyed!
I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
What a great installment in the series. All the moving parts are finally coming together!
While I found this was less about Kelton and Bernadette’s relationship and more about the upcoming showdown with Usaeil, it was awesome. There were so many things happening in this novel, I couldn’t put it down.
New characters are being introduced, the Others are becoming more involved in the lives of the dragons and their mates, there’s heartbreak, heart ache, near death experiences and all out war. In some ways the aftermath of it all is even more curious than the meat and potatoes of the novel.
The next book needs to come out soon. I need to know what happens!
If Donna Grant writes it, then I will read it! Fever is her latest and I thought it was very well done. I would recommend this book to anyone that’s a fan of this genre.
I rate this 4.5.
I love Con. That is all i can say. Over all, the events in the book was something i was not expecting. I would love everything to have a more clarity on the subjects that are in this book that will happen in the other books in the world.
More power to you, Ms. Donna Grant.
When I started reading this, I soon realized that it was part of a series but I didn’t know it was the 16th book. I guess it works as a stand alone but it was difficult to keep up with the all the back stories of the many characters. Their back stories were given but in not enough detail for someone who hasn’t read the other books in the series and probably in too much detail if someone had. It felt like the story dragged on and on and when the final battle occurred, it was anticlimactic. The romance between Bernadette and Kelton was very lackluster and a bit boring. Even though I know Bernadette was being manipulated by magic she seems to go along with whatever happens to her without much protest. There are a lot of things that bothered me about this, too. They are little details but I feel like if an author mentions something there should be some reason or follow up An example of this is the “proof” Bernadette has that dragons exist. It’s mentioned but no one ever asks what it is and it’s never mentioned again. There are a lot of other details like that and I won’t detail them all but they were annoying. Overall, I’d say this is not a book for someone who hasn’t read the previous stories and with the retelling of the back stories it’s probably a bit boring for those that have. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Well that just moved this plot line along! Can 2020 get here sooner?! Not sure I can wait until Jan for the new reaper and then feb for the next DK.
Dr. Bernadette Davies says that dragons exist. In fact, she’s so vocal about it, the dragons send Keltan to Glasgow to attend one of her lectures and investigate how much she really knows and how she came to know it. Needless to say, some U-bitch is behind this again.
While I enjoyed Bernadette and Keltanks romance, I’m really here to see what Rhi is going to do and boy did she deliver. Or did she? What really happened at the end? I guess I’m going to have to wait to find out.
I received this arc from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
I have to say that I love how the author weaves the overarching plots of the series into each book. You do not have to read every single one to understand what is happening. However, that is where my love for this one ends. Perhaps there has been too much of the same formula in my opinion for each of the couples. Mainly, Keltan and Bernadette are just flat and one-dimensional. Neither adds anything to the plot other than Bernadette's acquaintance with Usaeil. The story moves too fast in some places and not fast enough in others. I also really didn't enjoy that most of the first half of the book was yet another tour of Dregan and meeting former couples that I barely remember because there have just been so many.
I can't say for sure that I would continue reading this series. I may pick up the others and skim through to FINALLY get answers on the main plot between the dragons, Usaeil, and the Others.
Fever starts slow and but with a hint that something important is going to happen. Bernadette wants to reveal dragons to the entire world but her inner sent draws her to Dragon and Kelton shows her the real truth. He explains the whole history of dragons and opens her eyes. The unexpected enemy becomes their ally and Bernadette and Kelton more than a friend. But the storm is coming and the heads will fall. In unexpected events happens a few twists, one enemy is defeated but the main remains yet to be defeated.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
Donna Grant's continuation of her Dragon King series brings together a woman who's obsessed with dragons and the Dragon King who doesn't want a mate. Their instant attraction has them both rethinking their ideas and finding out the truth. Danger must be faced but will it keep them apart or bring them together or will a Fever take them over? Ms. Grant also sets up the next book in the series by following the brother and sister MI5 agents who have become apart of the Dragon King family with the mating of the sister to a King. The brother must try to figure out his powers and find a mysterious woman.
Heart racing, action packed, sexy and engaging adventure filled with danger, dark secrets, magic and passion.... was a great read from beginning to end. An edge of your seat emotional roller-coaster that left me breathless and excited for more!
The long-awaited battle has arrived, and we will finally find out just who will fight and what side all of the power players will end up on…and the ultimate question of who will come out of it intact. I have been looking forward to this story for a long time, not only for the sake of another Dragon King finding love with his mate, but because we knew that it was truly time that Rhi come out her shell and take control of her destiny. We have watched her evolve and change into the powerhouse she has become, and we always knew it was her destiny to make a great change in the world and this is her time. That being said this story really did revolve around the love between Kelton and Bernadette, despite both of them resisting the pull between them from the very beginning. Donna Grant has the ability to take readers on an amazing journey through the supernatural world of shifter and Fae while still keeping the most fundamental of truths at the heart of her story, Love conquers all. I was a bit surprised at the ending and am dying to see where she will be taking the series now that so much has changed and, of course, we are all still dying to know the secret she has kept from the very beginning of the introduction of this series—the name of the King that stole Rhi’s heart. If you are looking for drama, danger, magic, and heart you won’t be steered wrong with Fever and you will instantly be enchanted by Bernadette and her King’s love and devotion.
Bernadette is an anthropologist who has devoted her career to understanding the cultures around her and when she discovers the existence of not only the Fae but also Dragons in the world, she is determined to bring that to the public, despite the naysayers and obvious dangers. When she finally finds the courage to make a public announcement, she knows she will be approached, but she is not prepared for the sexy dragon-shifter that enters her life. Kelton has been sent as a representative of the Kings to find out just what evidence Bernadette has, but he never expected to not only like the lass but to feel an instant connection to her. After speaking with him, Bernadette is determined to find the truth and knows the only way is to go directly to the source, despite the danger of traveling to Dreagan, and when she shows up on their doorstep, she knows her life will change forever. Kelton never imagined she would show up at Dreagan, but once she is in their home, he’s not really sure he wants to let her go. Soon they find themselves embroiled in a drama orchestrated by their enemy that puts Bernadette right on the front lines and only Kelton can keep her safe, but together they have to decide if they are willing to risk everything, including their hearts in order to defeat their greatest enemy and bring peace to the Kings.
I really loved getting to know Kelton and Bernadette and seeing them falling in love despite all the obstacles in their way and their own personal resistance to their fate. Kelton was one of the few Kings that was happy about the spell that kept them from falling in love for millennia and he is determined that he does not find a mate now, despite his draw to her from the beginning. His heart is obviously in the right place as he befriends Bernadette and tries to keep her safe from their enemies, but once their relationship becomes deeper his denial and resistance made me angry and want to punch him a few times. I understand the fear he was dealing with, but dang I want him to man—errr, Dragon up – and take his mate and keep her truly safe. Bernadette on the other hand was a woman after my heart. While she was an unwitting pawn of an evil bitch to be sure for a good bit of the story, once she learned of her role, she came out of that pretty quick and found her spine. She was a smart lady to be sure, but she leads with her heart from the very beginning and when she starts to doubt her source of information, she doesn’t hesitate to jump into the deep end to try to find the truth. She is the perfect match for Kelton’s stubbornness too and there is no doubt they were made for one another, and as they get deeper and deeper into their battle for their lives their connection shows Bernadette the fighter she truly is as she fights for both of their lives and a chance at a future together.
Fever is definitely a culmination of a long-time arc that so many of us have been dying for, an ultimate battle, and the ending of an era, but there are still so many battles left to fight and I cannot wait for more in this series. Kelton and Bernadette’s love story takes us on a journey through the challenges of deciphering truth from lies and finding a way to embrace the love and trust that is offered at face value and the deep connections that can develop in a heartbeat. Kelton is a sexy beast of a Dragon King, even when he is being an ass and fighting his instincts and heart. He stands for his friends and the world, working with the other Kings to keep the world safe from danger, but his main goal is to keep Bernadette safe, despite denying she is his mate. Bernadette never imagined she would fall for a Dragon King, but once she meets Kelton there is no denying that he is the man for her. I loved seeing her come to her womanly power and prove to herself that she is a match for Kelton in every way including her stubbornness and the power of her love. Together they set the world on fire from the beginning even though they both pretend that their fling can have no future. I am dying to see what comes next and find out where Donna takes this amazing story of love and magic. The Dragon Kings and the other players in their world just keep getting more and more interesting and I honestly never know what might happen next. I will say that if Ms. Grant doesn’t tell us soon who Rhi’s King is, I just might lose it, but I think most of us long-time fans feel the same way and truly believe that she secretly enjoys torturing us with that secret a little too much. Another masterpiece of magic, mayhem, and love and I am so thrilled to have had to the chance to read and enjoy Fever.
For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows—and existing only in the world of dreams—is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her…or love her until the end of time.
Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows better than to fall into the arms of a Dragon King. But how can she resist Kelton when he’s so willing to share his secrets and bare his soul? He hasn’t met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in…forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. Soon Bernadette must face her dilemma: Should she expose the truth about Kelton in the name of science? Or join him in his battle with the dark forces—in the name of love?
Knowing this is the 2nd to last book in the Dragon Kings series, I couldn’t wait to read this! While I liked Kelton and Bernadette, the book wasn’t really about them. A good portion of it was basically summarizing the series and just when I was getting to ready to chalk it up as a release for those new to the series, we finally got to the good stuff I didn’t think was going to happen until the final book! I can’t wait until the last book!! I highly recommend.

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY-.............If I could give this book 10 stars I would. While this is NOT my normal genre..... I cannot help but be impatient for the next book in this series. This author is definitely an author to read over and over and over again. Each book I have read of hers just draws me into more and more of this genre. Well written, fantasy world that just pulls you in and keeps your eyes moving across each word. Impatient to get to the end and when you are there impatient for the next one in the series. So if you want a great read and this is the genre you follow you must buy this book! I was given this book via NetGalley. All reviews and opinions here are voluntary and expressly my own! Buy the book sit and enjoy and like me become impatient for the next great novel! Regards Anna
Admittedly, I've jumped in and out of this world and its related series a bit, so I might not have as much riding on this big showdown as the rest of the readers. But it was still so satisfying! I don't think you should necessarily start here (is that hypocritical?), but boy is it good to get here!
This story is not entirely centered on Rhi's big showdown, but that's what this is all leading up to. The previous few books have been building to a big battle, but have centered around a mated pair (or unmated, or whatever). This book is about Bernadette and Kelton. Kelton, as all good Dragon Kings, does not want a mate. Sigh. Bernadette has had some unfortunate magical nudges to try "outing" the Dragon Kings. Throw them both into the same room and the sparks fly!
Bernadette was a nice surprise in the form of a tough heroine who ends up not needing rescuing as much as most, even though she's stomping around in a world she doesn't quite understand. Kelton was frustratingly blind to his situation until too late. Their love story might still be early on, but it was still good and sizzling.
Now, on to the larger investment - Rhi! Sure, we get some progress from other stories and characters, but we all want to see the battle that will be between Rhi and her previous queen. The Others have lurked in the shadows for a while but this book gives us more information than before, and should, hopefully, send us into a endgame scenario (right?). We get the battle, don't worry, but I feel a little... unsettled after that. You'll see what I mean. All in all, though, it was satisfying.
