Description

His kiss was fire and passion. She shivered, wondering how he knew just how to touch her, to
send her spiraling into an abyss of pleasure...

For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows—and existing only in the world of dreams—is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her…or love her until the end of time.

Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows better than to fall into the arms of a Dragon King. But how can she resist Kelton when he’s so willing to share his secrets and bare his soul? He hasn’t met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in…forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. Soon Bernadette must face her dilemma: Should she expose the truth about Kelton in the name of science? Or join him in his battle with the dark forces—in the name of love?

5 bright burning stars for this amazing book!

As with all of the Dark Kings books this book follows the main story but focuses mainly on Bernadette and Keltan! As the plot thickens with their battle against Usiel Keltan finds himself feeling more and more for the mortal Dr. who had become more than just a project. What started out as an assignment turns to much more when the Dragon finds out that Bernadette knows more than she lets on!

With time against them the Dragons do their best to defeat the enemy only to discover that the battle is truly just beginning!

I love that this series though interconnected can be read as standalone! You can pick up wherever and sti feel apart of the story as if you’ve been there all along! I have grown to love this amazing group and with each book I get antsy waiting to see just what twists grant had in store for us! I can’t wait for book 17!

Oh my word!! This book had so much going on. Many questions were answered and yet Ms Grant left us with with even more questions. This book moved in at a good pace and I was thrown right into the Dragon world. I love the stolen moments where it feels like I am truly apart of this world and I laugh, cry and worry along with the characters. Kelton was a wonderful main character, I loved getting to know him! Dr. Davies was an interesting character that led to many twists and turns, she was also fun to learn more about. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and seeing more of these two, as well as the rest of the Dark King world.

Fever
by Donna Grant

Another sinful sensation that’ll hook you. The tension has been slowly building over the Dragon King series, and this book, Fever is no different. So many questions are answered but more questions still begs to be answered. Which we all know they will be answered as the series continues. It’s just the suspense and anticipation that makes me impatient.

Bernadette has had a burning desire to find the truth and expose that dragons are real and alive still today. She’s given up everything she had to accomplish this. And she is bound and determined to do so. Until....that man in the restaurant.

Swearing to never mate, Kelton has pretty much stayed a loner. Sent on a mission to attend a lecture given by Dr. Davies a Cryptozoologist, the subject just happens to be about dragons being real. Her opening words left him shocked, concerned and angry. After all the Dragons allowed the humans to live and thrive by giving them what they needed. Somehow she was getting information that was pretty close to accurate. He knew he needed to find out who and how, and fast.

Can Kelton, Bernadette and a few other Dragon Kings figure out what happened and why, before it’s too late? Can they save Dreagan, the mates and why not just save the world while they’re at it!

It’s so exciting every time Grant releases a new book. The chance to read her fabulous tales goes beyond tales, it’s like real life taking place. Can’t wait for what’s next!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A new favorite author. I have never read any books in this series and am delighted to be able to pick up and read without being lost . A wonderful story in itself while also in a series. Her description of characters such as Keltan and Bernadette brings the story to life. The settings feel real, You can picture Dreagan in all it’s beauty. I honestly could not put it down, will be investing in the rest of the books by this author.

Fever is the sixteenth book in the paranormal romance series Dark Kings written by Donna Grant. A sinfully wicked steamy romance that is sure to sweep you off your feet with unexpected surprises, complications at every turn, the tension is so tight you can feel it, and steamy romance that makes Fever too hot to hold without oven mitts! A story that pulls you in with a captivating storyline that weaves in smaller more intense plots. Just when you think you have it all figured out, another underlying plot comes to light with layers of depth and intricacy leaving you gripping the pages wanting more.

While Fever is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. There are characters from previous books woven into each new book in the series. This is sure to make you want to start at the beginning of the Dark Kings series and read all books! I find it thrilling and suspenseful when I start reading each new book in the series.

Grant is a remarkable writer and knows how to pull in the reader into her paranormal love stories full of romance, tension, and mystery.

Where the heck have I been? I mean, I'm a total PNR lover and I'm ashamed to admit that I have absolutely no idea who this author is (don't worry, I've already been shamed by my book friends). To be honest, the only reason I even picked up this book was because of the cover and the fact it was all about Dragons. And then I find out it's like....the 100th book in the series (not really, totally exaggerated)!! I have A LOT of catching up to do. Geez.... Ok, so considering I had no idea that this was a book WAY in to the series, I think I was able to follow along pretty well. The author did a good job of providing a brief enough synopsis that I was still engrossed with the story.

I know I'm going to butcher the back story, but here goes nothing....

The Dragon Kings have lived among humans for ever, but recently their existence has been compromised when a video was leaked showing a battle between the Dragons and Fae. A researcher, Bernadette, has dedicated the last year of her life trying to find more evidence that Dragons really do exist. And now that she's giving a lecture on the matter, the Kings need to step in to make sure she doesn't cause more trouble for them.

It turns out that there's a reason Bernadette has been so obsessed with Dragons. And now that she knows why, she'll do anything to help the Dragons keep their identity a secret. But with Dark and Light Fae fighting each other and a self proclaimed queen out for revenge, it's not as easy as it sounds. In fact, it's down right impossible, right?

Again, I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE FROM THE PREVIOUS BOOKS, and man, this was STILL awesome!!!! If you're a lover of anything paranormal or fantasy, buckle up and enjoy this ride. In fact, I'm off to catch up on all of the others I missed out on.

Dr. Bernadette Davies is an Anthropologist that learns news, is given proof that Dragons exist. It becomes her obsession to discover the truth. About a year after her search for dragons starts, she holds a public talk about her discoveries.

Kelton, a Dragon King, is asked to go and see if the Dr. has proof, real proof. Dragons have existed for millions of years but have hid their existence after being betrayed by humans, the humans they swore to protect.

Evil is at work though and her name is Queen Usaeil. She is Queen of the Light Fae that wants to be the Queen of all Fae and the rid the world of the Dark Kings, except of Con whom she wants to rule the world with. She is using Bernadette to get to the Kings to destroy them but she didn't really count on Kelton and Bernadette's feelings and Bernadette's common sense and the need to right wrongs.

Can Kelton trust in the feelings between he and Bernadette? Are her feelings real or a product of Usaeil's evil magic?

This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone book as it is mainly about the relationship, or HEA, of Bernadette and Kelton. I have read most of the series and each book wants me to feel like I can't wait for the next to come out!

Kelton has never wanted a "mate" so he fights what he feels for Bernadette and they both worry that Bernadette's feelings for Kelton are magic induced and not real. Bernadette is so humble though as she worries about the validity of her feelings and will not fully mate until she is sure.

I loved meeting up with the rest of the Dark Kings and their mates again as well as others like Death and her Reapers, Rhi and Balladin. I was upset at the loss of a few characters during war but have a feeling they will surface again.

This is an awesome story!!

I received this book via NetGalley and have agreed to leave an honest review.

The battle readers have been expecting…

This is the sixteenth book in the Dark Kings series.

Xaneth, the Light Fae with royal blood, is missing. Usaeil, the evil duplicitous queen of the Light Fae, is missing. Constantine, the king of the Dragon Kings is missing, abducted by the rogue Fae queen. Many are seeking the missing for the impending battle between Rhi and Usaeil has been delayed too long, each will have allies that they expect to stand with them.

While the Dragon Kings ready for what is ahead as they seek Constantine and hope that he hasn’t been turned from them, Keltan is given an assignment. A lecture is being held in Glasgow for cryptozoologists by a human woman who proposes to know about dragons. With everything the Kings had done to bury the video released years ago of their kind in action more publicity is not wanted, the distraction it would cause would be highly problematic at a time when their attention needs to be elsewhere. The sense of dread Keltan feels when the beautiful, confident woman opens her presentation with “dragons are real”, followed by that she has supporting evidence has him contacting his brethren and reminding himself that he doesn’t want to find a mate (as if he can stop the workings of destiny).

An anthropologist who walked away from everything she’d known after learning the truth of the reality of dragons, Dr. Bernadette Davies made it her personal mission to expose them to the world. One night a stranger brought their existence to her attention and the research she’s done since then has led her to Dreagan and the fact that a number of associated women have vanished. Her lecture went better than expected and she was approached by an exquisite man afterward, a man from Dreagan. Could he have been a dragon? She wondered about it. Returning home, her source isn’t happy with the progress she’s made, and she’s unsettled, her instincts say that something isn’t right. An increasing uneasiness has her driving hours to Dreagan where she learns more than she expected or could ever have imagined. But will she remember it and the man that inexplicably draws her? The possibility is highly unlikely.

Finally, the explosive battle between light and darkness that readers of the series have been expecting materialized (one of them anyway). Some answers were found, some beings had to die (are they truly gone is the question), the resolution wasn’t as expected which wasn’t surprising as this author loves to confound her readers and this fictional world is complex. Bernadette was manipulated and not just by fate to meet her match in Keltan. Once she’d met a dragon (though she didn’t know if he was one at the time) she doubted her source (who we know should never be trusted) in favor of said paranormal being, the woman had good instincts and handled things well considering what she had meant to accomplish, she was an intriguing character who came with her own mystery to be solved in the future. This book whetted my appetite as to what might happen next. Will the Dragon Kings ever find their dragons?

An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

What a fascinating and powerful story. Donna Grant gives us another book that l couldn't put down with the continuing story of the Dark Kings. This one involved Keltan and Bernadette. Keltan certainly fought the attraction hard. There was mystery, betrayal, romance and some justice. I'm hoping Rhi gets some peace in the next book. I loved it.

Finally! An epic conclusion of one story well worth waiting for. Can't wait for the next phase. These dragons and other characters are near and dear. Wouldn't it be awesome to see the warriors join in these fights too.

This book was received as an ARC from St. Martin's Press in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was excited to read this book for two reasons.. 1) It is a fantasy novel 2) It is a romance novel. A combination of my two favorite genres means I have to experience it for myself. Fever tells the story of Kelton a Dragon King that seeks more from his journey and then he meets Bernadette an anthropologist who is on the discovery of a new breakthrough. When they meet, the universe settles. Kelton is willing to give his all, tell all his secrets to Bernadette and knows what to say to win her heart. Bernadette is scared and confused because no man has ever treated her and won her like Kelton has and could this be the best move for both of them. This book was full of drama and steamy action that no one will ever stop reading. This will do very well on our shelves and I know our community will love it.

We will consider adding this title to our Romance/Sci-Fi collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I am a fan of Mrs. Grant's but I have only read her cowboy series. This is my first paranormal book of hers that I have read. I really enjoyed it.

I loved the couple of Kelton and Bernadette. Here are two individuals who meet under different circumstances and are intrigued with each other but yet there are other factors to think about.

I enjoyed the push/pull that Kelton had about his feeling for Bernadette. I liked that everyone else could see it and he couldn't. I also liked that in between all of the tension and getting ready for battle these two were flirting and falling in love.

I will say the suspense in this book was off the charts. You felt the nervous energy the characters were giving off.

The only issue I did have was, I did feel like like I came into this book feeling a little behind. While I loved the relationship with Kelton and Bernadette. It took awhile to get a handle on all the other characters. I eventually got there but like I said it just felt like I was a step behind for half way through the book. This was more my fault by starting with this book and not at the beginning.

Fever is a sinfully wicked addition to the incredible Dragon Kings series! Just when you think things can’t get more complicated, you find even more tension in the already tightly drawn overarching plot that doesn’t even touch the smaller plot lines that run throughout each book. I love the beautiful complexity of this series that just keeps weaving itself into a much tighter and robust web as each book adds to the beautiful masterpiece that is being laid out before you. Just when you think everything is about to burst, you find yet another layer of depth and intricacy. I am completely in love with this extraordinary series!!

Kelton is one of the Dragon Kings who has sworn to never find a mate. He has seen the joy and wondrous change in each mated king, and yet he wants no part of it. Assuming that it will only lead to weakness and his demise, he gives each woman he finds a wide berth. Bernadette feels like she has been searching for her new obsession for a lot longer than she has. Nothing can change her mind or alter her course until an intriguing man walks into her latest lecture. He is nothing like what she expected. Then again, she wouldn’t know what to do if he was. Instead she finds herself tangled helplessly in a dangerous spider web. One in which she may not return from if things go very wrong. Can Kelton discover the truth behind this woman’s strange obsession, or will more than just her life be put on the line as the truth beings to unravel before their very eyes?

I am always thrilled beyond measure to wander deeper into this fascinating world. Nothing is ever as it seems, and the journey of Fate is equal parts joy as it is pain. Their lives are massively intriguing, and each dragon king proves to be a stunning character who will never fail to make you feel and dream. I love how the journey to their mate is never one they consciously take, but rather one that they find themselves tripping into. Fate can move in many ways and through anyone, but she never be denied, and she should never be ignored. Doing so will bring out more than just misfortune. The one who dares to push it away will only realize when it’s too late the treasure that they carelessly tossed aside.

Donna Grant has upped her game in this latest addition to her devastatingly fascinating Dragon King series! While never letting up on the tension and mystery, she continues to build the suspense like a seasoned genius that she is and lays the groundwork for the next phase of her brilliant master plan. She is a true master, and I love to sit at her feet with each book and soak in the beauty and the darkness and the surprises at each turn. I devoured this book, and I am dying for the next part of this phenomenal masterpiece!

Book 16? I think it is in the Dark King series, Fever felt a little like a transition book. Grant spent the first handful of chapters catching everyone up on what’s been happening with this current story arc, and yes it’s a lot, while introducing Bernadette and Keltan, this story’s main couple. However, everyone from the Reapers, Dark and Light Fae, to the Dragon Kings and their mates had a moment-or more-and that’s when the story REALLY started taking off in directions that left me thinking “I wasn’t expecting that/I didn’t see this coming/I can’t believe that just happened!”

All I can say is if you’ve been wanting to jump into the Dark King world, Fever would be the perfect book to start with! There’s plenty of information to catch you up on where things stand now before delving into an jam-packed story and then giving teasers into the next arc. Who wouldn’t want to spend a few hours with these amazing dragons?!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book from Netgalley and St. Martins. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Donna Grant did it again with Fever. I loved reading about the Dragon Kings again, it's like meeting an old friend again and catching up with them. The only problem that I had with this book was that I now have to wait ages to read what is going to happen next, I would really have loved to start reading on the next book immediately. I just loved all the characters and how everyone rallied around the ones that needed it most. Brilliant writing as always and I am really glad that I get to read Donna Grant. I wonder what is install for us next?
Loved the book!!!!
