Another great novel by Donna Grant. I love the Dark Kings series and Fever is no exception. I can’t wait to see what happens next with these characters!
Love, Love, Love the Dragon Kings!! I will be very sad when this series ends! Keltan and Bernadette were great together, their story was captivating and sucks you in from the beginning. The story line was very well written and continues to build to and epic conclusion for this series.
We are one step closer to the end!! So many things are happening. I just can’t stand it. I can see the end in sight but I’m not ready, at the same time I am.
We get closure on one part of the journey but yet there's still more to come. You can sense the excitement and nervousness in the air. I was on the edge of my seat as I was reading. This series has so many moving parts and they're starting to align.
I wanna know who Rhi’s King is. I wanna see Con find his love. I want peace for the everyone. The end is coming. Gah!!
Fever (Dark Kings #16) by Donna Grant ..I can not state how much I love the DARK KINGS...thanks so much to Donna Grant, the publisher and #NetGalley for letting me preview this book. Donna got me from the first page and still hasn't let me go.. Kelton (DK) and Bernadette Davies (Anthropologist) meet when she gives a lecture stating that dragons are real and he is there to find out what she knows. Usaeil (Ubitch ) is using her to get to the Kings. There is violence, angst, mystery, laughter, tears, steamy stuff, some answers, some more questions, lots of old friends...all getting the their HEA. I can't wait for the next book!!!
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Easy-to-read Unpredictable Tear-jerker Happily Ever After Scary Tragic Witty Great world building Entertaining Action-packed Wonderful characters Steamy Romantic Page-turner
I always know I'm going to love Donna Grant's books. I also know it's an amazing book when I stay up an extra hour or two, in order to finish the book!!!
This installment of the Dark Kings series continues when Kathleen, a cryptozoologist, start speaking to people that the Dragons are real and, do actually exist. What she doesn't know is that Usaeil, a Fae who believes herself the queen of everything, is setting her up to fall in love with Keltan. This book has the Dragon Kings and, the Light and Dark Fae fighting to destroy Usaeil. Rhi has been preparing for this for quite a while. The problem is that the dragons want to keep their mates safe and, the Others involvement causes some serious difficulties!
I absolutely loved the fact that Ms. Grant not only completes this story, she gives us just enough juicy clues about what will happen in the next book in this Freaking Fantastic series!!!
Anthropologist Bernadette Davies is about to reveal the truth about Dragons. She has found a way to link certain evidence together to try and prove her theory. Dragon King Kelton has been sent to find out what she knows. He doesn't expect the beauty before him nor the attraction. Kelton needs to find a way to gain Bernadette's trust but he does not quite realize that someone else is feeding Bernadette with a plan they are intent she follow that could destroy them all.
Another highly entertaining book from Donna Grant. There is so much to the book that it is impossible to delve into everything. Had several twists and turns and am looking forward to the next book takes us. I liked Kelton a lot, he has a ton of swagger and a perfect compliment to Bernadette.
Wohooo, now we are finally getting answers! Fantastic storyline as always amazing characters. Of course if you’ve been following this series and the side stories you are just as excited as I am to read what seems to be the end of this amazing story . Of course this book was exciting, sexy, nail biting....
Fever is another winning book in the Dragon Kings series and should be read as part of the series. Bernadette was a successful anthropologist who gave up her career when the queen of the light fae, Usaeil revealed a golden dragon to her. Now she's single-mindedly trying to prove dragons exist to the world until Dragon King, Kelton walks into her lecture. Now Bernadette is an unwilling participate in a war between the Queen and the Dragon Kings and falling for her Dragon King. Kelton never wanted a mate but he cannot get Bernadette off his mind. As the danger ramps up until the final showdown between the Kings and Usaeil, Bernadette and Kelton work on their HEA among the carnage. (Side note the battle with the Others is not resolved and will continue into the next Dragon Kings story.) The story is fast-paced and just feeds the Dragon Kings addiction to leave you craving the next hit in the story line. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
“This was the Kings fighting for themselves.” Fever by Donna Grant
3.5 stars! The half a star for the major casualty in the book - and I’m not spilling the beans on that one. Finished this while hanging around at the pool.
Fever is the umpteenth novel of @dgauthor on the Dragon Kings. We have Keltan, a dragon that I haven’t encountered before, I think, a dragon king that is not looking for a mate. But finds a young doctor so interesting! Aside from the fact she was threatening to expose Dreagan and its secrets. The main arc continues to move in this story, with expected and unexpected casualties. And Keltan and Bernadette as mates.
And right now the overall arc of this world’s story is what keeps this book from being ho hum. I’d say it’s an important book in the series for that but... Keltan and Bernadette don’t pull me into their story much. I’m more interested in the main arc.
This world is not done yet with our huge cast. And with the related stories of the Warriors and the Reapers, it’s a huge bank of stories, characters crossing over every so often. I’m waiting for Con and Rhi and Henry’s stories. Which I hope we see sooner.
Thank you @stmartinspress for the advance copy of this book. Even if my review isn’t advance. 😂 Thank you @netgalley also.
This has been such an amazing read, so much better then I was anticipating. I was consumed and captivated with Fever. Donna Grant has written a phenomenal story. I will definitely be reading more by this author.
I love this series and author. The words make your imagination burst and you can see so much. I love Bernadette and Keltans story and the little snippets you get from other characters and I can’t wait for the next instalment.
Oh, so good. Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert! Skip to next paragraph if you don’t want to know. Go on, move to the next paragraph, you might not want to know this big tid-bit that happens in this installment...last chance...Ubitch dies. Finally. Yeah! So good and her battle with Rhi was epic.
Ok, now for review, I pick up books by other authors and it takes work to read it. I pick up a DG book and it is the furthest thing from work! It’s an adventure, start to finish. Easy to read and easy to keep up with. So much fun. The battle finally comes with the Dragon King’s, Rhi, and Balladyn vs the Light Fae Queen and it is epic. The couple in this one I actually had a moment or two to think he wouldn't acknowledge that she was his mate. I truly had to stop and think, is he that stupid? Even the other kings kept calling him an idiot because he wouldn't stop fighting it. Bernadette brought attention to herself by publicly saying she had evidence that dragons were real, so of course a king is sent to investigate. What they all didn't get at first was that the queen was behind it, again, until Bernadette went to Dreagan to get the other side of the story, ballsy on her part! Loved it. So good. Want more. Won’t say what else happens, but it’s EPIC! You need to read it.
I picked up this series half way through and am working my way back. I thoroughly enjoyed this latest book. It is enjoyable and fun to read. It is excellent holiday reading. The book is much more of a romance than I usually read but I this did not stop me enjoying it . It is bright, fast paced and has a good story. This book does seem to move the story on and some sort of conclusion seems to be coming.
FEVER is an intriguing continuation of the Dark Kings series, which brings some major overall plot points to a head. I feel like I have been waiting for this book for a long time! Notably, while this is the sixteenth book in the series, if you are interested in picking up one of the later books, this is the one you should choose! Everything is recapped beautifully in this book, allowing a new reader to gather all the knowledge needed to enjoy the larger story arc.
While there is some romance between Kelton and Bernadette, a human who has been manipulated into trying to expose the dragons, the majority of the book, particularly the latter half, is devoted to the major storyline that spans the books in the war with Usaeil. I actually would have liked more Kelton and Bernadette, but I do appreciate finally getting some closure (and then a whole new plot to look forward to in coming books).
As many of the Dragon Kings have been, Kelton was convinced he would not find a mate, and so there is some nice push-and-pull as they question what they have. Their chemistry fell a little flat to me, maybe because so much of the plot is focused elsewhere. I would have liked to spend a little more time just with those two and really feel like I could cheer for them together.
Regardless, the main plot really ramps up with twists that still managed to surprise me, and I loved getting some closure on these. I am also really excited for a new character who appears and carries a whole new plotline and mystery with them. This series still manages to bring some surprises, and I am totally here for it. We do also get to see the reapers a bit, and I love that they intertwine.
Overall, this was a solid installment in the series. Although it was a little light on the romance, the main plot is carried on beautifully. Recommend for fans of the series- and if you are a new fan who doesn't want to start at the beginning, this is definitely a great one to pick up due to the excellent and thorough recapping!
Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
LOVE it!! I'm so enjoying this series and can never wait for the next one 😍 they never come quickly enough. Fantastic story
Another fiery read by Ms. Grant. EAch one keeps getting better and better. Good solid feel to the book and loved the romance.
WOW! Just WOW! OK, first I can't believe we are book #16! Where has the time gone? And the series is still just as enthralling now as with book #1. Big reveals in this installment. I think we have to be getting close to the conclusion. Am holding my breath to find out what happens next.
Great book, Donna Grant is amazing at keeping the multiple series stories fresh while still keeping us guessi
I do love this series, this was a good read and I did enjoy it. I think I'm just getting impatient for the big finale.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance read, I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! This is my first book to read of this series, and it was really nice that I didn't feel lost. I was easily able to understand the world and the characters and follow the story. Bernadette was very likable and relateable. I look forward to learning more about her in future books. The book was paced nicely, I was able to read it fairly quickly without getting bored or disinterested.
