ALL CATS ARE INTROVERTS is a meow a minute, told through poems paired with gorgeous feline photos. So apt any could have been penned by my aloof Gracie.

ON ONE’S OWN
My time
My time alone
My time alone thoughts
Of my ass
On your remote
As you barge into my room
Screaming, “Where the @#$% is it?!”
As I sit on what is now my couch
Learning to value myself
I think my left cheek
just changed the channel.

I loved the author’s previous books, I COULD PEE ON THIS, I COULD PEE ON THIS TOO, and CLAW THE SYSTEM, and this newest made me howl.

MISSED THE DAYS
Will I miss the days
Not spent outside?
Not spent with others?
Not spent with you?
Will I see such days
As missed opportunities?
As vanished chances?
As lost time?
Sometimes
Another time
Not this time
For today I discovered
I can stand on your flat-screen
At least for three minutes
before the wall mount gives way

Some of the humor may seem crass, but I think it’s hysterical and so telling of how cats act and probably think. I’ve had seven of the little mischief makers. I should know.

“a poem on
the Aquarium I
just brought down to
the ground, killing eight
prized fish and covering
the new rug in filtered
water, shattered glass,
colorful gravel
and one small scuba diver.
Oh great.
A conversation starter.”

Amen, my feline friend! Five paws up!
