Description

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of I Could Pee on This, Francesco Marciuliano presents this humorous and all too relatable book written from the perspective of some pensive, sometimes intense, but nonetheless insightful pets.

Have you ever been labeled as "antisocial," "shy," or "lost in your own thoughts" because you don't realize someone's been calling your name 148 times? The cats understand. All Cats Are Introverts is a collection of self-reflective poetry from cats that clearly shows them to be the insightful, often alert, crowd-averse, personally engaging, probably napping-as-we-speak introverts of the animal kingdom. This is a book of poems through the eyes of cats that had me laughing out loud. Cats have been misunderstood all this time! They aren't judgmental rather they are introverts- who knew? The book is full of beautiful pictures of cats. What a delight to read! I will definitely be sharing this book with others once it is published. Thank you to Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is great fun. I enjoyed the fantastic photos and layout work more than the text, but that is quite good as well. A very good little good. I defy anyone to give it less than 4 stars.

I really appreciate the advanced copy for review!!

Review to be posted on my blog and goodreads early October.

I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.

OMG, a brand-new Francesco Marciuliano! I just LOVE his books of poetry about cats (and dogs). Sure, his last book wasn't for me, but this one was back to the books I love and of which I have a nice collection of on my shelves. This one will definitely join its friends when it is out. :)

Once again poems about cats! I just love how with some it could be about anything, but then the last sentences and you know it is about a cat (for instance the one which ends with the cat walking over a sandwich with mustard). But quite often you just instantly know it is about a cat. Talking about their tails, about murdering that bird just outside the window, the christmas ornaments (we all know cats LOVE those), hairballs, annoying owners and their habits that astound the cats, dogs and butting certain parts of humans and how dogs get away with and cats.. .well don't, and more. It was a delight to read and then there were wonderful photographs of cats again. I was looking forward to those, I knew that Francesco Marciuliano wouldn't disappoint.

The poetry is well written, it really flows, it contains humour, and it is all true. I don't have a cat myself (allergic), but I have friends with cats either online or offline and believe me cats are really the way they are written here. :P

Of course there is a theme, namely what the title says: cats are introverts and we see that pop up quite often in the poems. Cats hiding out in the toilet, or hiding in a blanket fortress, or not knowing how to introduce themselves. I could definitely relate to several of the things mentioned in here. And no, I am not a cat (at least not that I know).

I would highly recommend this funny cat book to everyone. I can't wait for the next book by this author.

This book had me laughing the entire time. In addition to the gorgeous photography, the poems are quite clever and often contain a little twist at the end. If you need a smile and love cats, then give yourself a treat and buy this book.

As always, cats are hilarious. I think cat adoration is worse than a disease. The day I brought my cat home I was infected and now find that I love every piece of cat content I come across.

This book was hilarious! The poems are so true and relatable from both a cat's and an introvert's perspective. My favorites were "Wanted", "I'm Not Shy", and "I Hear You"! I also love looking pictures of all the cats. Just a quick, fun read.

I really enjoyed reading Claw The System last year, so I knew I had to read All Cats Are Introverts as soon as I first saw it. I know I don't read a lot of poetry, but give me cat photos, give me humor and give me a relatable topic and I'm sold. As a true introvert and a cat owner, it was extremely easy to relate to the poems included in this bundle. I literally laughed out loud multiple times, my own cat Delilah Bard frowning at me as apparently I was making too much noise to her liking. The dry, sometimes slightly sarcastic humor is right up my alley and some poems definitely have a mean pun. The cat photos in this bundle are of a high quality and it shows that they have been chosen carefully as they suit each poem extremely well. The poems themselves are simple, but with an original twist as they are all written from the point of view of a cat. Cat owners, cat lovers and introverts alike will be able to relate to the contents of All Cats Are Introverts and this poetry bundle will make an excellent gift.

This was a wonderful and fun read! I thoroughly recommend it to kids, adults, and generally people of all ages, but who love cats. Sometimes I even thought the author was able to get inside cats' minds as I myself am a cat parent and have often thought my own has the same thoughts like those in these poems. Wonderful!

I own "I Could Pee On That" by this author, and so was excited to read this collection of introvert poems. I wasn't disappointed! It has the perfect combination of cuteness and humor, and reminded me why myself, an introvert human, connects so deeply with this fuzzy little creatures. If you're looking for a feel-good, relaxing read with some beautiful photos of cats, then this is the book for you!

I absolutely loved this book! The poems and pictures prove once and for all that cats aren't the extroverts many people think they are. They want their quiet time to ponder the little and big things in life, and their actions are quite calculated.

I loved the choice of photos that go along with the poems. They are a perfect fit!

Great cat photos, paired with poetry that resonates with introverts....with feline antics/humor as the hook. Perfect book for a quick chuckle, mood elevator, or gift for a cat-crazy friend.

This is a light and fun read; exactly like it was designed for. The book is full of fun and cute poems (with lots of catty sass) and absolutely adorable cat photos. So it really is perfect for the cat (or book) lover. The humor in this short book is spot on, and will resonate with any introvert looking for a light and humorous escape.

I love this entire collection of poetry books from cats and dogs, so I am not surprised I also really enjoyed ALL CATS ARE INTROVERTS. It’s going to make a great gift for the cat lovers in my life. The poems in this one are a little deeper than in some of the others, but all are still hysterical.

You know when you're feeling a bit sad and not really in the mood to read? Well, that's when you need to pick up this adorable book. It's both funny and relatable. I couldn't stop myself from laughing at pretty every poem. It makes you feel understand and laugh at the same time, I don't know what else you can possibly need. It was just such a good time! I really liked that there were cat pictures, made the entire experience even more enjoyable (who doesn't like cat pics???????? I need to know for science).

Did I make squee noises while looking at all of the gorgeous pictures?
Did I laugh like a crazy person reading the poems?
Did I give my own feline companion the side-eye, question what they’d been doing with their spare time, and have an in depth discussion about their possible financial contribution to the household? (The reply was an a clear mrrwwmrow-ow)
Did I then proceed to follow the author on every social media ?

Mrowwwommmrrrrp (says the cat)

An intriguing collection of poems supposedly composed by cats accompanied by beautiful photographs of cats that compliment the context of the poem. The poems are quirky, funny, gross, snarky and totally express the vibes that come from your favorite cat. The poems are an adorable peek inside the cat and human lifestyle. It is an enjoyable book sure to leave a few smiles and guffaws behind as you read through it.

Francesco Marciuliano just gets it. He gets cats, he gets introverts, and he most certainly gets introverted cats. These poems, highlighted with bright and beautiful photographs of cats doing their cat thing, are hilarious. I was actually laughing out loud through this book, so that by the end I was nearly in tears. This one has earned every one of the five stars I'm giving it!

Francesco Marciuliano’s feline poets are truly gifted. In his introduction Francesco explains that cats, who have been labeled ‘antisocial’, ‘unfriendly’, ‘uncooperative’ or just aloof, are just really introverts.

What follows in All Cats Are Introverts is a collection of poems that generate laughing out loud as readers move through the pages. For instance:

Peace

Press
Press
Press
Press
Press my paw
Against your nose
Only to find
It’s not the mute button
Crap
I’m never going to have
a moment’s peace to think

In this latest collection, Francesco continues to share these amazing gems, written to incite laughter and lighten every reader’s mood. This author’s work is especially appreciated by individuals who live with cats.

A new book of poems about cats. I loved I could Pee on this, so I was looking forward to reading this and I loved it just as much.

If you are a cat lover, like myself, you will laugh out loud and nod and say to your cats, yep that is you. And you might find yourself reading some of them out loud to your cat. At least that is what I did.

Although the poems are about cats, they also resonate into the introvert human. They reached a place inside of me.

And I also loved the beautiful cat pictures.

All Cats Are Introverts by Francesco Marciuliano is a delightful poem collection about the introverted nature of cats. Most of the poems are funny and/or aptly depict cats in all their feline aspects. Don’t expect the most epic of poems, some are rather formulaic, going one way, then ending with a twist, but one doesn’t buy this kind of book for the epic poetry. As a cat lover (I’d love to say “cat owner” but I’d be lying, since my cat totally owns me) some of the poems were very relatable. Being rather introverted myself, some also felt quite relatable to me as a person, which was kind of the point of this collection. The poems are interlaced with beautiful cat photos, those alone make this little book worth your while. Overall, a fun little book that I’d recommend to cat lovers everywhere!

I am a dog person but this?! This is so much my personality as much as I want to ignore it. And reading this hilarious yet lines that do speak a lot of truths makes me actually aware that I am an introvert that can relate so much to that of a cat's behaviour.
This short book of short lines and cat pictures simply amazed me.
I love this one in particular:
'Books
I can lose myself
In a novel
I can be absorbed
In a short story
I can be immersed whole
In adventure
In history
In romance
And mystery
I can see now
That I'm stuck behind your bookcase'

116 pages filled with cat poems and real cat pictures!
Seriously, why cannot I love cats more?
I do realise I don't need to because I am a cat inside.

Thanks #NetGalley for providing me this copy of #AllCatsAreIntroverts

Really cute book of poems centered around and told from the POV of cats! I loved the cat pictures that accompanied the poems, they made me want to bring all of them home! I honestly feel like many of the poems were themed around my cats and how crazy/lazy/lovey they can be. A fun, quick read!

Cute book and yes it is funny. Poetry written by cats, who knew they were introverts. I have no idea about being introverted, but my wife now says she must be a cat.

I have an introvert cat: she hides as soon she hear new voices in the house and as soon the guest leaves, she is back with the “good riddance” face. If you have a cat or you are a cat lover this is book that will make you laugh and love more your pet!
Finally the photo are beautiful!

Cats are delicate creatures. They give lots of love (even when it’s from across the room, or from a different room, or a different block), but it costs them. They need time to recharge. They need peace and quiet. They need to throw up a hairball on your new sheets. A really big hairball. But you know what? It’s called self-care, and they’re worth it.

All Cats Are Introverts is the latest volume of cat poetry from Francesco Marciuliano, author of I Could Pee on This and Claw the System, among several others. Accompanied by adorable photos of lovable cats and kittens, All Cats Are Introverts is a book of cat poems about being on one’s own, inner peace, someone who gets you, trying something new, being social (or choosing not to), and birthdays, and so many other topics.

The poems are moving and insightful, offering a true glimpse into the soul of a cat, so humans can genuinely understand about getting stuck behind the refrigerator or falling into the dip that you put out for the guests. These poems get into the deepest thoughts of cats, and lets them share their experiences with their people.

Cat fans of all ages will love and laugh with these short poems about all the complexities of being a feline, from deciding on whether to go out or come in, pushing glasses off the table (a clear sign you need to buy better alcohol), staring at the humans while they use the bathroom, attacking the ugly Christmas ornament, chatting with the birds outside the window, or eating someone’s birthday cake.

Perfect as a gift but also lots of fun just for curling up and reading yourself, All Cats Are Introverts is a whimsical, moving, hilarious, heartfelt glimpse into the hearts and minds of the cats we love, even when they act just a little bit like jerks. Highly recommended!

Galleys for All Cats Are Introverts were provided by Andrews McMeel Publishing through NetGalley, with many thanks.

Princess Fuzzypants here: Although we cats are not noted for our poetry, it is clear from this book that we are very talented. We all know we kitties are humorous naturally but who knew we could write such funny verse. I, for one, am impressed. My humans were equally intrigued.
Filled with some quiet smiles and some laugh out loud sections, not unlike my blog, this gives the humans in our lives the inside look at how we see the world. Of course, the way we see the world is correct. If it differs from our humans, it is because they are wrong.
The reader who is owned by a cat will recognize many similar stories to the ones they have experienced. While I would not make it required reading, I would suggest it highly for the cat lover. Even those who are not poetry lovers will find the verses entertaining.
Four purrs and two paws up.

When I saw you had a new book out, I eagerly requested a copy because … cats. Cats are often misunderstood and thought to be standoffish or rude. Okay yeah some are but more often than not, they’re shy and introverted. I’m the same way so I can relate. It’s not that we don’t like (most) people but we need “me” time away from the bustle and crowd to recharge, relax, and rest. If a cat has to swipe your iphone and other crap off the table to snooze – well, you shouldn’t have left them there.

The photos of cats engaged in the behavior that inspires the poems are fantastic. The poetry itself is more than just cats expressing themselves. It’s actually very good and amusing as well as illuminating to read.

From now on when I look at my cats – sitting, watching me – I will wonder, are they composing spare but elegant poems about me to express their thoughts, dreams, dismay, pissiness? Or are they merely annoyed at the birds mocking them from the other side of the clear barrier that thwarts their revenge? Or perhaps wondering if it’s worth moving the three inches to the left now that the sunspot has shifted? Maybe one day I’ll find a neatly written poem answering my questions and demanding different canned food.

It's my first book by this author and it was hilarious and so relatable. As an introvert person, I appreciate every single time the author got us so well represented. I love how the poems are constructed in a way that the ending "twist" of remembering that the main subject is a cat, that's what gets you to laugh at loud. The pictures themselves are part of the punchline, and obviously funny. What else is left to say? Every cat lover should read this and every introvert should be delighted to be put up there with such majestic creatures.

From Francesco Marciuliano, author of I Could Pee On This, comes All Cats Are Introverts, another great cat-centric collection of poetry! These poems so perfectly capture the essence of the introvert, and the cat alike. Most start out self-reflective and serious, then you reach the poem's end and out comes the cat! These are all soooo hilarious. A sure cure for a down day, certain to have you laughing out loud. Perfect for all the cat lovers out there. I highly recommend I Could Pee On This as well, for a double dose of sassy cat poems.
