Written by two authors - I believe a husband and wife team - in German. I read a translated copy in English. My first read by these authors, I would read them again however, I did find the book to end too quickly, parts of the book were barely built up and then on to the next. Having said this it was a quick read which was nice, the story was overall enjoyable with a good premise. I just felt that it could have been longer and more suspense added. I was left feeling I needed to know more about the protagonists family and what happened to them.
We follow psychiatrist Olivia Hofmann who gets involved in a 5 year old case about a murdered teenager. Olivia teams up with retired detective Levi Kant and the pair investigate putting their own lives in danger.
Olivia's backstory about her missing husband and daughter and Levi's marital problems stemming from his job and injury meant we got to know them quite well.
The ivestigation into the murder was great and kept you guessing with a number of suspects.
I really enjoyed this, I'm just a little disappointed that I can't seem to find the next book in English as I would have liked to carry on with the series.
A detective and psychiatrist are brought together by the death of a patient.
Olivia's husband and daughter disappeared five years ago - every year, Olivia receives a post card. Five years ago, Lisa was viciously murdered. Determined to solve both cases, Olivia and Detective Levi Kant join their resources.
I loved this book! Thank you for the ARC. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that I wasn’t leaving reviews on netgalley and was solely sharing on Instagram. My apologies. Huge fan of this author! I actually received the tangible copy. Trying to clean up my netgally account.
A good read, which kept my attention throughout. I would recommend this as a good holiday reading book. Very enjoyable.
Translated and felt a little off. Not sure if there will be more to this series or if the is a standalone. Enjoyed but didn't love. Don't Forget Me will probably, unfortunately, end up being forgettable.
ex-cop Levi Kant & psychiatrist Olivia Hoffman work together to figure out what happened to Lisa Manz, who helped her escape 5 yrs ago and who killed Lisa.
this was a good thriller, but cannot find the next books in the series in English!
I love books that are in the genre of thriller or mystery but this one was not as grippingfor me. It was okay but not more than that. I actually forgot to review this..
Thank you for the eARC!
I love the cover of this novel and the inside. "Don't Forget Me" is an suspenseful novel by B C Schiller. A page turner for sure.
The premise of this book had so much potential but I feel that it failed to deliver.
The chapters were short and I flew through the pages. I feel that some of the problems in this book were due to the translation
I would especially like to thank Amazon Publishing UK and Thomas & Mercer and the Netgalley website for allowing me to read the first book in the series: "Levi Kant".
It has been almost five years since the husband and daughter of psychiatrist Olivia Hofmann disappeared and five years since the body of a teenage girl was found in a quarry in Vienna.
The investigation into the circumstances and motive of the death of this teenage girl Lisa is at a standstill, but every year on the anniversary of the disappearance of her husband and daughter, Olivia receives an anonymous postcard. Who is the author of this postcard? Why are they apologizing? Until the day one of Olivia's patients claims to have seen Lisa alive, she will partner with Detective Levi Kant to find out the truth about these disappearances and this famous murder. Except that reopening the case will put Olivia and Levi Kant in danger. The killer is looking for them and he will not give up the case.
A book read in one go, so much so that I hung on to the story, so moving in certain passages, full of suspense and twists, addictive, captivating, gripping with endearing characters. Can't wait to read the book two.
i really enjoyed reading this book, the mystery itself was great and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. I hope there is more in the english translation series.
I didn't like the book as much as I thought I would. The premise is interesting, but I felt the author was unable to carry it through. It wasn't terrible, just not really good.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are of my own and are unbiased.
I found this read to be a bit longer than necessary and there were parts in the book I found to be a bit hard to get into but there were parts I really enjoyed. This one was a 50/50 for me.
The story/premise of Don't Forget Me was good and the short chapters made the book a fast read. The characters, however, were mostly unbelievable and the dialogue was often trite and not well executed. I had a difficult time connecting to any of the characters so more character development (at least for Olivia and Levi) would have been helpful. I would still consider reading the next book in the series as the ending did leave me curious.
I did pick this up again after originally only getting part way through. I liked the character of Olivia and enjoyed the tension mounting. I don't normally read translated books and did find I could tell the difference in the writing, but it was still a fast-paced read when I got back into it again.
Fast paced thriller. Solid character development. I didn't see the ending coming. Overall a good start to a new series.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book for my honest review. Not bad but not great! I can definitely see how some people would love so that being said I would recommend it.
This is a new author for me, and I thought the plot was well written. It is a great start to a new series. There were many twists and turns that kept me guessing and I look forward to the next installment.
Many thanks to Amazon Publishing UK and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Oh my... Such an amazing novel! I was really impressed after reading this one. The writing is amazing and the characters were top notch. Read this one!
