Unfortunately this book is a case of judging a book by it's cover. I requested this book strictly based on it's cover without looking into it, and after a few short pages, I know it's not for me. So this is easily a case of it's not the book, it's me, but I won't be finishing it, at no fault of the books! YA just isn't for me and I just don't vibe with this book. Too many books, too little time!

This book was good. Not great, not terrible, just good. I had hoped to connect to it like I did the author’s previous book, You’d Be Mine. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

This book wasn't for me. I like music but this went a bit too far for me to stay drawn in. I think it's due to the fact that I am getting older and YA is a bit hit or miss for me now but I am always willing to give them a chance!!

The plot felt a bit unrealistic and too "perfectly" laid out and the "insta love" was a too much for me. But. I can see a younger audience, currently in high school with not so perfect family situations connect with this.

I gave this book a four out of five stars. I really liked the characters in this book. I liked the family dynamics, friendships, and relationships. This is the second book I have read by this author and totally recommend this book and I can't to read more from them.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This is an interesting written contemporary novel that I struggled to get into, but that our copy is always checked out. I believe that the teens connect with it in a way that adults just don't.

—.:* Quick Recap
• This book is about the journey of Vada Carsewell and Luke Greenly going through their sharing passion, life ambition, and of course, a not-so-secret love story.
• Read this book if you're a fan of everything musical!
• You might want to consider it because though the book was entertaining, it doesn't offer anything new to the table.

More Than Maybe is a contemporary romance story between Vada, Luke, and all the music around them. The book itself was quite entertaining, yet it left me hoping for more. The plot felt a little bit too generic and convenient. I was hoping there'd be more drama and twists. Alas, I enjoyed it far better than Hahn's previous book, You'd Be Mine.

Thank you St. Martin's Press - Wednesday Books for providing me with a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

More Than Maybe is a fantastic read from Erin Hahn. I really enjoy stories from dual perspectives and this one is done well. I'm not going to lie- I love anything that revolves around pop culture, and this book has music pop culture in spades. This is my second Erin Hahn book and I think she's now an auto-read. Couldn't put it down!

I haven't read any of this author's other works, but my friends had enjoyed a previous book of Hahn's, so I went into this one cautiously optimistic. YA contemporary has always been a hit or miss for me, especially now that I'm getting older and older, but I like to give each book a full try, because I never know what my next favorite will be!

This book was, overall, just ok. I didn't actively dislike it, but I never found myself fully drawn in either. There were a ton of music references, and while they sorta worked for me since I actually knew a lot of the music, it got excessive at points. Not every reference was fully explained, especially in some later text exchanges, so I was often left just reading a list of songs without necessarily drawing the meaning I was supposed to out of it.

The characters also felt rather basic overall, especially Luke. His main driving force was that he liked Vada, which wasn't that compelling overall. Vada was a bit more interesting, but only a bit more, since she had an outside passion she was following. There was overall a lot of family drama that could have been more wholly resolved, especially considering how shitty Luke's dad was at points. I also didn't care for the overall ending either, as it annoyed me more than felt like a strong resolution for both characters. One ended up happy, but the other had to sacrifice something for that happiness, and I don't feel like they should have had to do that.

Overall, this book kept me mildly interested throughout, but not enough to make me rush off and try this author's other books. However, I didn't overall dislike my reading experience, and if the synopsis intrigues me enough, I can see myself picking up another of Hahn's books.

Ah! That was adorable!! Who doesn’t love a solid “they have no idea I’m totally in love with them” story?! Add in some outrageous music talent, a stealthy dance phenom, and a shared love for reading between the lines of lyrics throughout the ages, and you’ve got yourself the cutest little swoon story ever. Vada and Luke give me hope for the weirdo introverts of the world.
The characters were fantastic throughout the story. There was so much connection between them, palpable and real ♥️I loved Phil so so much. For a secondary character, that man grabbed my heart in both hands and ran off with it. I got a little teary eyed with the Vada and Phil hug!! If you want details on what lead there…… READ IT!!

Okay, extremely apologetic and also extremely bitter I waited so long to read this one. It was so incredibly sweet and everything I needed after reading relatively darker books lately.

This is a sweet romcom that also tackles difficult family situations, working teens, and trying to accomplish your dreams, When I finally picked it up, I finished it in less than a day...and am now incredibly excited to read more from Erin Hahn.

I loved how this book was written. Sometimes an author just has a way with words that grabs on to the soul. I liked the musical knowledge that was tucked successfully into the pages. I loved the slow burn of the romance. I was gripping my kindle just waiting for them to finally get it over and kiss already. It was that good. Definitely a must read when you need a light contemporary romance.

I'm not a fan of YA and teen books anymore, but this one was really really good. I liked the fact that Luke is trying to find himself and who he is supposed to be without feeding off of his dad's fame.

I picked up More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn after reading Deanna's review of the companion novel, and what a great decision I made! More Than Maybe reminded me of some of my favorite YA novels from the likes of Rachel Lynn Solomon, Kasie West, Miranda Kenneally, Emma Mills, and Morgan Matson.

A STORY TOLD IN DUAL VOICES

With any good contemporary novel, I look to the author to write good characterization. Erin Hahn succeeds in doing so with both her main cast and her secondary cast. I was pleasantly surprised that she utilized dual POVs here for Vada and Luke. I liked both of these characters equally so I was thrilled to get to spend equal amounts of time in their heads.

A MUSIC NERD

Vada is a young woman who aspires to become a music journalist. She's clearly very passionate about music and has a great deal of musical knowledge. She even runs a successful music blog - the author shares some of her posts in the book and it was a really great addition. I liked how goal-oriented Vada was. She seemed to have a good head on her shoulders and knew exactly what she needed to get into the music journalism program of her dreams. The only obstacle standing in her way is her piece-of-work father who refuses to help her pay for college.

More Than Maybe explores the complicated relationship between Vada and her father beautifully. He was, frankly, worse than a disappointment and really didn't deserve the title of "Dad". He infuriated me with how much he seemed to only reach out to Vada when he needed something. At the same time, he refused to help her out in her time of need. Truly, the man belonged in the trash can. Thankfully, Vada had a really cool mom and a great father figure in Phil, her boss at the bar she worked at.

A SWEET, CINNAMON ROLL LOVE INTEREST

In a lot of ways, Luke is the perfect love interest for Vada. He's a little on the quiet and reserved side, but they balanced each other out well. Having grown up in the limelight of his famous British rockstar father, Luke wants nothing to do with that kind of fame. Despite being gifted both at songwriting and singing, he prefers to lay low in the background. The only time he really enjoys engaging with an audience is when he is hosting his podcast with his twin brother, Callum.

I adored this sweet, cinnamon roll of a kid. He had such a pure and kind soul to him. My introverted self definitely related to Luke's own desires to want to be left alone. I thought it was adorable how hard he crushed on Vada and how he slowly learned to open up to her.

A ROMANCE THAT HAD ME GOING "AWWWWWW!"

As such, I really liked how the romantic relationship between Vada and Luke developed. They are partnered up for a school project, which forces them to interact. They bond over their shared love and knowledge of music and become good friends along the way. Music nerds will devour this book! The romance here melted my ice heart, friends. The way the two bantered via text and then flirted using links to YouTube music videos made me swoon. And then, Luke had to go and write an entire song about Vada, leaving me on the floor because I couldn't take it anymore. Luke and Vada were two precious beans who needed to be protected at all costs!

I WANT MORE BY ERIN HAHN

There's so much more I loved about this book including the main setting of the Lazy Lizard, where Vada worked, and the siblings relationship between Callum and Luke. I figured though, I'd leave some of it for you to discover. :)

More Than Maybe left me craving more by Erin Hahn and thankfully for me, she has her debut as well as another upcoming book.

A super cute YA novel for music aficionados! Hahn's romance-centric stories have a distinctly mature feel to them that I think many adults will enjoy as well. I can't wait to see what she writes next!

I need to read more Erin Hahn. More than maybe sat on my tbr shelf from almost the moment it was announced. It's one of my most highly anticipated books of 2020. Unlike most of my high expectations (okay so maybe I am a little hard to please) Erin Hahn 100% delivered!

I've been in the worst reading slump the last 2 weeks (I usually read a book a day), and I've started and abandoned more books than I care to admit. More than maybe was just what I needed to get my groove back!

Erin Hahn’s More Than Maybe blew me away. When I first read it, it was at the start of the pandemic. And friends, let me tell you: it was the right book that came at the right time. As soon as I finished the book, I had that lingering feeling that I get after a really great story. There is that pause, a collective sigh, and this feeling of amazement and sentimentality.

Vada is this young girl who is on the verge of greatness, but has a huge hole in her heart. And through music and dance, she learns to express and face all of the feelings that go through her each day. I loved her, I felt for her, and at the core, I understood her.

Luke is the boy next door of this year! A son of a famous musician, half of a podcast duo, and also the other half of a twin, he is the guy that you want to tell all of your problems to. He was the perfect match to Vada’s eccentric nature. And everything that he does for her? *chef’s kiss*

There is so many levels and types of love explained in this story. And I think it’s important to know that while love is schmoopy, it can sometimes not be so great. And I appreciated that so, so much. The amount of tears that I have shed over this story? TONS. This love story is told through the feeling of music, where you can both listen to a song and just KNOW, that the moment needs to be cherished and savored with every fiber of your being.

And boy did I feel the love.

After all, that’s what we really care about when it comes down to it, isn’t it? We care about what we felt. We want to be moved and changed and knocked over and pieced back together. We want to swoon and taste and cry and scream to the sky, Yes, this. We want ninety-minute relationships encompassing a lifetime of feels. We want the fantasy, the reality, the immorality, the salvation… we want to be seen.

This book allowed me to look at myself, my strengths and weaknesses. But most importantly, it allowed me to realize that I needed to value myself more. Hahn just knew how to create this realistic world. I devoured this story so quickly, and I never wanted it to end. I loved this book for so many reasons, and I am forever a fan.

Huge thanks to Wednesday Books for allowing me to read this gem of a story early, in exchange for a honest review.

This is a young adult/romance. I just could not get into this book. I read the whole book, and the whole time I was wishing it was going to get better. I think it was just not the book for me. The writing style was just one I come not get into. I have seen some really good reviews about this book, so some people really loved it. I hope the book finds the people that love it. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for my copy of More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn in exchange for my honest review.

Unfortunately, I was not able to get in to the story and it was not keeping my attention. I couldn't really connect with the characters. I tried to put it down and come back to it, but decided it was just not the book for me and did not finish it.

I will not be sharing a review any where besides Net Galley.

“More Than Maybe” is a sweet YA story of finding love and chosen family. Luke and Vada are brought together by their mutual love of music, the spark finally ignited by a group project at school. Vada’s biological father breaks her heart (and mine, as the reader) over and over again through the book, but the father(s) she finds in her community are the best kind of soothing balm. The love story is a delicious slow burn, filled with music (all compiled at the end of the book in a cheeky set list - I’m sure someone will put it all together as a Spotify playlist if it doesn’t exist already!).
Recommend for fans of chaste YA romance, music, and chosen family stories.
