A heartwarming collection of webcomics that illustrate the cute relationship moments of one New York couple and their dog.
Snug by Catana Chetwynd is a graphic novel full of mini comics about the mundane life of a couple. The comics are relatable and funny, offering a slice of life into a typical relationship. All of the comics are black and white. Some of them were extremely short, about two boxes on a page. While the point of these comics is to be a short slice of life, it felt at times that the author used a daily struggle or situation in multiple comics. I did find this book to be extremely endearing, especially because Chetwynd's inspiration stems from her real-life relationship. This book is a good book to buy or give if you're looking for something cute and lighthearted, but realistic. It makes for a nice and short read. Overall, I did enjoy reading this novel and the illustrations were cute and easy to look at.
Catana's one page comics are cute and relatable.
This collection of comics revolve around her relationship and has a little something for everyone.
Definitely a fast and fun read. Great for fans and first time readers.
A very cute series of relatable comics. They’re obviously very sappy, but they’re very real and the length of this book provides just enough sweetness to fill you up!
I wanted a quick read that would give me warm fuzzies inside and this did the trick. I really enjoyed Catana's cartoons and can see the love in their relationship.
This collection of comics is just as sweet as her first, "Little Moments of Love." Fans of the first one (and her work in general) will love this cozy read and will love sharing it with their partners. It will be a good warm fuzzy during the cold month of February and a great Valentine's gift!
I was provided an electronic ARC by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
A second book of humourless one-shots that try and portray an idealised relationship. My review would have just been '"Smug, not "Snug"', but some people do insist on minimum word counts.
This was so cute, sweet, adorable and funny. It was funny because it’s so relatable!! I had a fun time reading this and sharing some of the comics with my husband. I love it so much!
I've followed Catana Comics for a long time on Instagram so I was very excited when I saw that there's a book coming out. I love her art style and the little vignettes into her relationship which funnily enough is a lot like the relationship I'm in. It's a perfect representation of being in a loving relationship with someone who is not only your partner but your best friend who you are (for the most part) on the same level with.
This collection is a fun read that would make almost anyone feel warm fuzzies and put a smile on their face. If you're looking for something that will be uplifting and cute, pick this one up.
Catana never disappoints with her adorable, cute, heart warming comics. Her and John are literally #couplegoals and I don't know what else I can say!
Everything that's drawn in these comics is something everyone goes through in their life. It's not anything extremely unique or anything like that. But I guess that's what also makes it so special? Like, I never tire of reading catana comics' comic strips because they're like the best, most wholesome slice of life pieces ever and I love them!
Thank you so much, Netgalley, for this ARC! This was so great!
Recommended: Yes!
For fans of her comic series, for anyone who's been in a relationship (though maybe more of the younger generation for some), for a heartwarming read that will make you smile and happily sigh
Thoughts:
Ahhh, what's not to like?? 😍 To address that missing fifth star, it's due to the abrupt ending. It's a series of comics, so maybe that's somewhat expected, but it would have been a smoother ending if the last one had been something with them going to sleep, or going home, rather than just another general one. The ordering of these could have been tweaked for a more comprehensive effect of their developing relationship.
That aside, they're all so cute! Her simple art style and simple language reflect the ease of being with your chosen Someone after the initial phase of worry. The world "relatable" is thrown around a lot, but I truly think it's impossible for someone who's been in a healthy long-term relationship not to see themselves in at least one of these comics. If you haven't, use this as a guide. It's really for anyone, attached or not, so long as you like sweet moments and smiling. 🥰 Some comics will be more familiar to younger generations, with mobile ordering, technological references, and recently popular fads like tiny plants and weighted blankets, but it all depends on the kind of person you are!
The amount of times I laughed out loud got to the point where my Chosen Someone stopped asking what I was laughing at and just smiled instead. THAT'S a good sign!
Details about the book:
- YES, there are brand new comics! If you follow her, you'll still have ones you haven't seen before. 50% of them are non-released brand new ones, according to the book details!
- The art style is the same as her standard; no surprises there!
- The formatting in the ebook works out fine, so it's a viable option if needed, though I definitely recommend getting the physical copy for that additional joy of holding a book and seeing the smooth pages ^.^
Thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel for alerting me to this book's existence and giving me a free ARC to read and honestly review so I didn't have to wait until February to delight in her original comics!!
Relatable, cute and whimsical...the perfect Christmas gift for your significant other!
I loved the first installment of Chetwynd's comic collection because it was so heartwarming and made me laugh out loud at points, and Snug was just as adorable and funny as the first one!
I LOVE CATANA! I really like the art and I see myself and my boyfriend in it, so you can imagine how much I was excited when I could read this thanks con Netgalley.
Some of these comics were new to me and others were all time favorite of mine.
But. I find it really difficult to give stars to these collections because I love one and something doesn't work for me on the next page.
this is literally my fav comic for couples! I follow her on facebook and this book was just as good as every comic you see out there if not better. if you are obsessed with your partner then this book will make you laugh out loud and you realy need this book as a print out because screen shot to show your loved one is not the easiest task! Dating is ugly ad funny and this book shows all the relatable images of love and life.
I had seen Catana Comics floating around the internet, which is initially what made me reach for this book. The comics, depicting Catana and her partner, are heartwarming, hilarious, and so relatable (even for a singleton like myself). I can't wait to share it once it's published. I personally find myself gravitating to comics when I'm looking for a palette cleanser between "heavier" reads, and this suited my mood perfectly. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this book!
A cute, feel good graphic novel.
Anyone who has ever been in a relationship will find much of the content so relatable and that will bring a smile to your face.
The illustrations are sharp, clean and adorable.
Would make a perfect gift for a partner on an anniversary or just to show you are thinking of them.
I liked the art style and the story. It was really cute, it made me want to have a relationship like this one day.
Review to be posted on my blog/goodreads in January 2020.
I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review~
A brand-new collection of sweet and relatable comics by Catana Chetwynd! I was so delighted when I spotted these on Netgalley. YES! YES! It's been almost 2 years (wow) since the last book so I was very eager to get more!
In this one we see more hilarious, fun, cute, adorable, and a lot of relatable comics by Catana. We see how she is stopping her boyfriend from shaving as she loves his beard, stares and giggles when he undresses (which I recognise as something I do as well, and yes I also say more, or well I say it in Dutch, close enough), we see how she moves around in the bed while he just stays on the same spot, I had a big laugh at her clinging to him when he has to leave the bed (my hubby has to get my limbs off him at times as well), just like her sometimes you just need to hug your loved ones to feel better, and there is tons and tons more and I was just smiling with each of them. I just love seeing this couple together. See them interact, hug, and love each other. The hearts are just floating out of the comic.
And oh, so that is why when you pass through doors/doorways you lose what you wanted to do, it just gets stuck and bumps against the wall above the door!
I have to say that I am still a bit doubtful about the big eyes, but I do love the art in the general. It is quite a fun and cute style.
All in all, another fun and relatable and sweet and perfect for the end of the day when you need some extra love book and I would recommend it.
100% cuddle-tastic! The comics are all so well done. Many had me laughing and nodding along with the perfection. This bind up is a perfect gift to life anyone’s mood. Thanks for the change to read and review this
An adorable little book chronicling the regular, sweet little moments that make relationships special. I love it's little cutenesses, it makes me feel nice and snug :)
