Thank you Netgalley for letting me read and review this book. Moon Magic is a Nonfiction witchcraft book, that shares information about with more than 100 spells, chants, and rituals. It also talks about celebrating the full moon. I learned a lot about witchcraft in this book, I am pretty new to it. It was a user friendly guide.
The copy I received was practically unreadable, and what a shame that was. I really wanted to read this, but was completely unable to.
I will not be leaving a review on this book.
Unfortunately, due to technical errors with downloading this book, I could not read it and therefore I am not in a position to provide feedback on this book at this time.
I look forward to reading or listening to a copy in the near future in order to provide a proper review.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me a copy in exchange for an honest review as it is a book that I believe I would have enjoyed, I appreciate the opportunity to have received a copy.
As a practicing witch I've been trying to learn more about the moon, its cycles and how it effects us. This book has really come in quite handy. Well written, easy to understand and so much great information! I am planning to get a hard copy as well to carry with me. Thank you so much!
Aurora Kane brings us this delightfully illustrated and utterly tantalizing look at lunar energies.
This book would actually be a great introduction to magic in general, if read in tandem with other, similar works. You might be surprised by that, since the topic is so specific (the Moon).
Yet, the author runs a good gamut through many Craft basics, including working with herbs, crystals, and essential oils. There’s a lack of detail about where the correspondences originate, but focusing on the way she relates it all back to the Moon makes it better.
I do need to note that Kane mostly focuses on the Moon as a feminine entity though. In my own practices, I approach the Moon as the Goddess Diana, but other folks from other traditions may see things differently, or even venerate a masculine lunar divinity.
There’s a large section in this book on Moon Goddesses, but precious little about Gods with similar associations. It would’ve been nice to explore some of that. The section on the Goddesses is quite thorough and descriptive, if not exactly comprehensive.
Unfortunately, Kane tends to push neoWiccan ethics fairly hard. References to “do no harm, “an it harm none,” and the notion of karma show up in the book occasionally. At one point, Kane suggests that witchcraft has “no rules” besides “do no harm,” and even if you remove the latter part of that statement, it’s debatable how true it is.
I personally don’t believe in karma, nor do I subscribe to the Wiccan Rede or a notion of the threefold law. Kane describes these ethical perspectives as if they were universal among witches, and that is a bit troubling.
I don’t think it ruins or takes away from the book too much, though. This might be because, growing up in the 1990s, most of the books I was able to find included similar statements, and I was still able to learn plenty from them.
This sounds odd coming from a digital fiend like me, but if you decide to get this book, get a hard copy. The Kindle edition is fine and all, but the graphics are much more stunning in the print copy.
I have both, and while the Kindle edition (from Netgalley) was well-formatted, the graphics on a screen don’t really compare to how beautiful they look physically printed!
Overall, I give this book four out of five stars. There were some flaws, explained above, but mostly, reading this was an enjoyable and relaxing experience that helped me draw closer to the Moon.
Another witchy book to add to my collection. A fab starter book for any beginners and fans of witchcraft, herbalism, essential oils etc.. I loved the rituals and spells sections.
Moon Magic feels like an old book of shadows and harnesses old wisdom from the moon in ways we can use in everyday life. It's great for those who love the moon and those wishing to draw upon its power. Very helpful reference guide for witches.
Really enjoyed this book. It gave new perspective on working with the moon phases. I can see myself purchasing this book to use for reference in the future! Great lay out and in depth research.
I was really looking forward to reading this book. I had a free copy from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately I wasn't able to download it let alone read it to give a review. Deeply disappointing..
This is a phenomenal book. I thank the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity. This is a book to buy in hard copy to add to your magical library. My review opinion is my own.
Beautifully crafted, this is the "definitive" book on utilizing Moon Magic into your practice. The author has meticulous details in the moon cycles, tracking lunar magic, using spells and when to best preform them and the use of essential oils in your craft. The author has also included affirmations, crystal magic that relates to the moon, energies, herbs, Moon goddesses, and astrology . This is comprehensive in its scope and the perfect book for utilizing the moon cycles in your magic practice. i highly recommend this book . I will recommend that you buy a hard copy to keep for your use. Very well done to the author. I look forward to further books by this author.

The moon is magic on it's own. When blended with spells, chants and rituals, it becomes more. It has been used since the beginning of time to predict the future, to plant and harvest. This book is a teaching tool about how the moon affects our lives and how to use the different phases and signs to make your life better. It explains how to incorporate it into your everyday life. I loved the illustrations and beauty of this book. I received this book from Net Galley and Quarto Publishing for a honest review
"Moon Magic" by Aurora Kane is a wonderful reference book to use when working with the moon phases. In this book you will find many useful ways to include essential oils, crystals, tarot, the zodiac, and herbs into your moon rituals. Each has its own reference chart and some include spells and affirmations to use during each of the moon phase.
A history of goddesses from different cultures and their association with the moon can be found in the book as well and this can be very helpful when deciding which one to ask for guidance from during your rituals.
In the back of the book is a section of several rituals and spells for each of the new moon, waxing moon, full moon and waning moon phases. For those of you wanting to use the power of the moon during your spells, this book is the perfect place to start.
Not only is the knowledge in this book an extremely helpful tool for instructing you on the many ways to include the power of the moon and its many phases into your practice, but the cover is just so beautiful, I am very excited to be adding "Moon Magic" by Aurora Kane to my book collection.
Moon Magic by Aurora Kane
Interesting look at the moon that includes information about various cultures’ beliefs about the moon, moon deities of these cultures, ways to embrace or draw the goddess into oneself, use of the moon in working magic and various ways to use crystals, herbs, rituals and tarot while working magic. This book has basic information to build on and plenty to learn for the novice and would be a good source to refer to as one works their way through the year. I think the one big idea that I would be interested in trying is to find candle holders in a rainbow of colors to use instead of colorful candles…the candleholders could be used with intent just as candles are chosen for their specific color for a specific ritual…and they would be pretty on an altar or anywhere when not being used for magical purposes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wellfleet for the ARC – This is my honest review.

This book was super helpful! I had been looking for a book that would explain the deeper meaning to lunar cycles and this really helped.
People really do not realize how the moon can affect our bodies. Thank you so much to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.
Useful guide, introduction and reference manual to the myth and effects of the moon - an often overlooked influence on our lives.
A little more on the witchy side than I normally go, but I appreciate the information. Definitely a positive addition to my library shelf! Thank you for offering this here on Net Galley!
Moon Magic from Aurora Kane is a super book. Its full of great information about the moon and all her magical ways.
The book is packed with information a lot of which was new to me. Easy to read and a book you will go back to time and again as a resource.
Thanks to Netgalley and Quatro Publishing Wellfleet Press for the ARC. My review is my own opinion.
This is a beautifully designed book all about the power of our moon, and the power we can derive from it. It's laid out in easy-to-read sections, all with lovely colors and accents and whimsical touches.
This is a fantastic magical book that is packed with tons of great information for anyone who is perhaps well-versed in moon magic or the meanings attached to the moon and its power or those who may be completely new to the subject and practice. I loved how easy this book was to read, how beautiful the cover art is, and how it made me want to work more moon magic and lore into my own practice.
