Description
The Moon is one of our most prominent and ancient symbols. It has shaped how we understand and track time, its movement controls the tides, and its rise into the sky signals the coming of night. The distinct phases of the lunar cycle have associations with different states of being. These states mirror a kind of spiritual quest which, like our search for ourselves, never ends. When we observe the Moon, we see reflections of the grand pattern of life that is birth, death, and rebirth.
With this invaluable handbook filled with enchantingly beautiful illustrations, follow the Moon as she traverses each sign of the zodiac and discover how each astrological phase affects magic—and how your personal Moon sign affects your magical work. The discussions include the influence of the seldom-discussed energies of the Blue Moon, the Black Moon, and lunar eclipses.
Each Moon phase is explored individually to cover the phase’s main themes along with Moon rituals, intention setting, and practical ways to celebrate and manifest health, wealth, and confidence. With specific suggestions for each phase, you’ll discover a variety of tools for harnessing moon magic, including:
- Traditional lunar herbs such as lavender, angelica, mugwort, and sage to magnify and support your intentions
- Crystals and gemstones to raise your personal vibration and enhance your intuitive powers
- Essential oils and candles to match your mood or intention and add vibrational power to your spells and rituals
You’ll soon be using spells during each moon phase for things like:
- Conquering change (New Moon)
- Living joyfully (Waxing Moon)
- Romantic love (Full Moon)
- Banishing bad (Waning Moon)
Open your arms to Mother Moon, and allow her to take you into hers, with Moon Magic.

Description
Harness the power of the magical, mystical, glorious Moon with more than 100 spells, chants, and rituals, along with Esbat celebrations for the Full Moon. Moon Magic is the third book in the best-selling Magic series, following Witchraft and Love Magic. The Moon is one of our most prominent and ancient symbols. It has shaped how we understand and track time, its movement controls the tides, and its rise into the sky signals the coming of night. All of these roles have cemented our relationship with the Moon and its important place in our myths and culture. The distinct phases of the lunar cycle have associations with different states of being. These states mirror a kind of spiritual quest which, like our search for ourselves, never ends. When we observe the Moon, we see reflections of the grand pattern of life that is birth, death, and rebirth. With this invaluable handbook, follow the Moon as she traverses each sign of the zodiac and discover how each astrological phase affects magic—and how your personal Moon sign affects your magical work. The discussions include the influence of the seldom-discussed energies of the True-Blue Moon, the Black Moon, the Void of Course Moon, and the lunar eclipse. You will learn how to properly conduct spells using candles and gemstones at exactly the right lunar moment to enhance the flow of power. Each Moon phase is explored individually to cover the phase's main themes along with moon rituals, intention setting, and practical ways to celebrate and manifest health, wealth, and confidence. You'll also find herb and crystal lists as they relate to each moon phase and information on traditional lunar herbs, including lavender, jasmine, willow, moonwort, mug wort, pumpkin, and sandalwood.
MY REVIEW:
I have to start by saying thank you for this ARC as it is definitely a magical book. It is very well written and easy to follow whether you are a novice or an expert. The author takes you on a magical trip through crystals, herbs and spell casting. Learned a lot from this book and am so happy I read it. My only negative comment is that I wish it was readable through Kindle. Definitely going to buy the hard copy once it's available!!
I highly recommend this book!!! Buy it, you will not be disappointed.
I’ve always had an affinity to the moon.
When tears would course down my eyes and trail tracks down my cheeks I would wish not upon the stars but pray to that crescent sliver or that glowing orb.
When my maternal grandmother died years ago that night I sought comfort and in the dark I felt her embrace in the sky. The streetlights flickered and went out but the glow from above lit my way back home.
Yes, the moon harnesses plenty of power.
There’s magick in its grip and within holds thousands , no millions of secrets.
I guess you would call me a fledgling witch. I dabble in beginners witchcraft from time to time and have for a few years. I don’t pretend to be more experienced than I am because I simply am not. I do this for me and my peace of mind.
To me magick is akin to self love and positive affirmations. It’s a push to help you along the way.
With this book we learn about the moon phases and how they can affect the power we harness and what we can do during these certain phases.
For example during the new moon this is a time to set intentions.
As an affirmation you will light a pink candle and and say: I welcome new opportunities and experience.
I’ve also always wondered about the various names for the moons during the different months. Like for example WHAT THE HELL IS A BEAVER MOON??? WELL HERE:
Many cultures idolizle the moon and many Goddesses are associated with her power. Luna, Selene, Artemis, Ixchel, Kuan Yin, Isis…
There’s also my favorite…SPELL WORK INVOLVING HERBS.
You guys, I love herbs. I love learning about the different uses and what they can do for us. This summer I actually did a full moon spell with my best friend.
I adored this book. I love having books like this not so much to guide me but to be a blueprint as a sort.
Magick is everywhere. This is just but a taste of it, it’s literally floating above us. We can draw on our affirmations from inside of ourselves. I think for me magick shows us that we are not alone and we have never been alone.
Anything is possible and the impossible is extraordinary.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this copy of my ARC.
This handbook covers everything you need to know about the Moon. Its phases, energies, correspondences to herbs, crystals, and oils, Moon goddesses, and its synergy with Astrology and the Tarot were all included. The last section of the book had many different rituals to perform during different Moon phases which was pretty cool considering many other books tend to only focus on New or Full Moons. I’d like to give a mention to the section on the Full Moons of every month in the year. This section discussed its historical names and significance but it’s the little blurb about the modern magical significance that I really liked and have not seen before. It’s something I will definitely work with.
I’ve read most of the books published about the Moon in recent years, so while I could compare this handbook to them, it wouldn’t be fair because this is specifically meant to be a concise guide to harnessing lunar energies and isn’t supposed to be a deeper metaphysical textbook about la luna. For that reason, I would highly recommend this book for those who don’t know anything about the Moon because more knowledgeable people would find this book a bit basic and superficial.
I’d also like to add the cover is very mystical looking which caught my eye. I also liked the overall look of the book, specifically the way the pages were made to look like parchment, and I thought the graphics were grimoire inspired and pretty.
Overall a pretty decent book about the Moon.
For those new or old to the craft Moon Magic has something for everyone. It does well giving you information about the moon with its rituals, tales, and more! It gives you everything you need to wield magic during the moon.
For those fascinated with the moon, Moon Magic is a must-read! From earth science to mythology to simple rituals, this book really does have it all.
I'll definitely be buying this book. In addition to being absolutely stunning visually, the content of this book is great for introductory moon magic. I love books that cover a wide range of topics. It's very much worth the money and a book I'm glad to support.
This book was fabulous. I learned so much and confirmed so many thoughts I had before reading it. It’s one of those books that you keep going back to and every time you find something new. This is a book I will peruse for years to come. The only issue is it was very hard to download. It’s a ACSM file and it needs to be a mobi or ePub. I had to read it via my PC. I’d love a copy on my iPad or kindle app.
This is a really interesting book for understanding the power of the moon and how her different cycles affect us. It includes rituals for harnessing the power of the moon and incudes the use of herbs, spells and other mystical methods. It will increase your awareness of this powerful astronomical body. The book is fascinating and easy to read, and it will leave you with an in depth understanding and a new found respect for this familiar body. There are rituals for all the different cycles and you will find yourself identifying the different stages as it passes from one to another. Overall a very interesting book.
This book was perfect for beginners of moon magic or just someone looking for a good reference book. It covers the different phases of the moon and its meanings, different moon goddesses, herbs for the moon phases, moon meditation, crystals to use with moon phases, essential oils and candles, astrology, and tarot. As well as a great listing of rituals and spells for the different phases of the moon. This book was extremely well written and easy to understand. I plan on buying it when it comes out.
Also the artwork and headers was beautiful and really fit perfectly with the topics.
*ARC provided by Netgalley for an honest review.*
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This book is a beautifully put together book of information about the different stages of the moon, different cultures/historical beliefs and rituals of the moon, and spells. This book also covers star signs and the best essential oils to use and when to use them, as well as covering information about crystals to use during certain moon cycles.
I really enjoyed this book and am going to get a paper copy at some point too.
Really nice look at some moon topics, rituals, and spells. The illustrations that are placed in book area really nice. A really nice reference point.
I feel this book relies too much on its aesthetic, which is impressive, truth be told, but neglects the content sometimes. While there are useful tips, incantations (mostly incantations) and rituals included, along with a good introduction on the subject of Moon magic, it is a bit confusing, for example, to read about eight phases of the moon and then see the author explain only for, or divide the magical works she includes in said four phases. Good introduction, but it could have been better.
An excellent reference book, perfect of people who is new to the Craft or for whoever want a well written and interesting reference book.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
This book had a lovely feel like an old grimoire. A great reference on beginner to intermediate witchcraft. A very inspiring read!
Moon Magic had a nice layout, which made it easy to find whatever you're looking for. It's great for beginners of moon magic or someone who would love to have a reference book.
I enjoyed this book much more than I expected I would. Moon Magic is a fine introduction to understanding and working with the Moon. It exposes readers to many different approaches to connecting with moon energy and provides a plethora of spell, rituals, and meditations to practice or use as inspiration for crafting your own.
I appreciate that time was taken to discuss the Moon and moon magick across multiple cultures and time periods and that the necessary warnings were given regarding misuse of essential oils and toxic herbs.
I am choosing to take a star off for some parts where I felt more research or explanation could have been given (especially in the section on moon goddesses) but it wasn't anything crazy.
Another witchy book to add to my collection. A fab starter book for any beginners and fans of witchcraft, herbalism, essential oils etc.. I loved the rituals and spells sections.
Moon Magic feels like an old book of shadows and harnesses old wisdom from the moon in ways we can use in everyday life. It's great for those who love the moon and those wishing to draw upon its power. Very helpful reference guide for witches.
Really enjoyed this book. It gave new perspective on working with the moon phases. I can see myself purchasing this book to use for reference in the future! Great lay out and in depth research.
This is a phenomenal book. I thank the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity. This is a book to buy in hard copy to add to your magical library. My review opinion is my own.
Beautifully crafted, this is the "definitive" book on utilizing Moon Magic into your practice. The author has meticulous details in the moon cycles, tracking lunar magic, using spells and when to best preform them and the use of essential oils in your craft. The author has also included affirmations, crystal magic that relates to the moon, energies, herbs, Moon goddesses, and astrology . This is comprehensive in its scope and the perfect book for utilizing the moon cycles in your magic practice. i highly recommend this book . I will recommend that you buy a hard copy to keep for your use. Very well done to the author. I look forward to further books by this author.

The moon is magic on it's own. When blended with spells, chants and rituals, it becomes more. It has been used since the beginning of time to predict the future, to plant and harvest. This book is a teaching tool about how the moon affects our lives and how to use the different phases and signs to make your life better. It explains how to incorporate it into your everyday life. I loved the illustrations and beauty of this book. I received this book from Net Galley and Quarto Publishing for a honest review
"Moon Magic" by Aurora Kane is a wonderful reference book to use when working with the moon phases. In this book you will find many useful ways to include essential oils, crystals, tarot, the zodiac, and herbs into your moon rituals. Each has its own reference chart and some include spells and affirmations to use during each of the moon phase.
A history of goddesses from different cultures and their association with the moon can be found in the book as well and this can be very helpful when deciding which one to ask for guidance from during your rituals.
In the back of the book is a section of several rituals and spells for each of the new moon, waxing moon, full moon and waning moon phases. For those of you wanting to use the power of the moon during your spells, this book is the perfect place to start.
Not only is the knowledge in this book an extremely helpful tool for instructing you on the many ways to include the power of the moon and its many phases into your practice, but the cover is just so beautiful, I am very excited to be adding "Moon Magic" by Aurora Kane to my book collection.
Moon Magic by Aurora Kane
Interesting look at the moon that includes information about various cultures’ beliefs about the moon, moon deities of these cultures, ways to embrace or draw the goddess into oneself, use of the moon in working magic and various ways to use crystals, herbs, rituals and tarot while working magic. This book has basic information to build on and plenty to learn for the novice and would be a good source to refer to as one works their way through the year. I think the one big idea that I would be interested in trying is to find candle holders in a rainbow of colors to use instead of colorful candles…the candleholders could be used with intent just as candles are chosen for their specific color for a specific ritual…and they would be pretty on an altar or anywhere when not being used for magical purposes.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Wellfleet for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
I received a copy of Moon Magic by Aurora Kane from Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
5 stars! This book has something for everything. It's a fantastic reference book and I highly recommend it!
I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book was super helpful! I had been looking for a book that would explain the deeper meaning to lunar cycles and this really helped.
People really do not realize how the moon can affect our bodies. Thank you so much to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.
Useful guide, introduction and reference manual to the myth and effects of the moon - an often overlooked influence on our lives.
A little more on the witchy side than I normally go, but I appreciate the information. Definitely a positive addition to my library shelf! Thank you for offering this here on Net Galley!
Moon Magic from Aurora Kane is a super book. Its full of great information about the moon and all her magical ways.
The book is packed with information a lot of which was new to me. Easy to read and a book you will go back to time and again as a resource.
Thanks to Netgalley and Quatro Publishing Wellfleet Press for the ARC. My review is my own opinion.
This is a beautifully designed book all about the power of our moon, and the power we can derive from it. It's laid out in easy-to-read sections, all with lovely colors and accents and whimsical touches.
This is a fantastic magical book that is packed with tons of great information for anyone who is perhaps well-versed in moon magic or the meanings attached to the moon and its power or those who may be completely new to the subject and practice. I loved how easy this book was to read, how beautiful the cover art is, and how it made me want to work more moon magic and lore into my own practice.
The overall view of lore was a nice addition to the book. The breakdown of what is needed to really harness the true power of the moon will have me returning to this book over and over again.
As a practicing witch I've been trying to learn more about the moon, its cycles and how it effects us. This book has really come in quite handy. Well written, easy to understand and so much great information! I am planning to get a hard copy as well to carry with me. Thank you so much!
Aurora Kane brings us this delightfully illustrated and utterly tantalizing look at lunar energies.
This book would actually be a great introduction to magic in general, if read in tandem with other, similar works. You might be surprised by that, since the topic is so specific (the Moon).
Yet, the author runs a good gamut through many Craft basics, including working with herbs, crystals, and essential oils. There’s a lack of detail about where the correspondences originate, but focusing on the way she relates it all back to the Moon makes it better.
I do need to note that Kane mostly focuses on the Moon as a feminine entity though. In my own practices, I approach the Moon as the Goddess Diana, but other folks from other traditions may see things differently, or even venerate a masculine lunar divinity.
There’s a large section in this book on Moon Goddesses, but precious little about Gods with similar associations. It would’ve been nice to explore some of that. The section on the Goddesses is quite thorough and descriptive, if not exactly comprehensive.
Unfortunately, Kane tends to push neoWiccan ethics fairly hard. References to “do no harm, “an it harm none,” and the notion of karma show up in the book occasionally. At one point, Kane suggests that witchcraft has “no rules” besides “do no harm,” and even if you remove the latter part of that statement, it’s debatable how true it is.
I personally don’t believe in karma, nor do I subscribe to the Wiccan Rede or a notion of the threefold law. Kane describes these ethical perspectives as if they were universal among witches, and that is a bit troubling.
I don’t think it ruins or takes away from the book too much, though. This might be because, growing up in the 1990s, most of the books I was able to find included similar statements, and I was still able to learn plenty from them.
This sounds odd coming from a digital fiend like me, but if you decide to get this book, get a hard copy. The Kindle edition is fine and all, but the graphics are much more stunning in the print copy.
I have both, and while the Kindle edition (from Netgalley) was well-formatted, the graphics on a screen don’t really compare to how beautiful they look physically printed!
Overall, I give this book four out of five stars. There were some flaws, explained above, but mostly, reading this was an enjoyable and relaxing experience that helped me draw closer to the Moon.
