This was a really good resource, but not as helpful as I was hoping for when I asked for it. I think it could just be made a little more accessible.
This book is perfect for anyone new to Keto. If you are not new to Keto, you will still enjoy this book. Each section begins with a clear, easy to follow meal plan, recipe, and shopping list, The meal prep tips take this up a notch and help separate it from other cook books because it actually saves time.
Some of the recipes weren't new or original, but I found the majority to be unique. They were also tasty recipes, so that is always a plus.
What a great cookbook! The material is well written and presented in an easy to follow manner. I look forward to trying out several of these recipes.

Almost three years ago, I went Adkins/Keto in support of my son having to do it for epilepsy. After 6 months we were done. Now I’m needing to get back on track for myself. Reading through this book helped me remember the ins and outs of living without sugar and how to be successful. I highly recommend.

Aaron Day introduces the reader to two exciting concepts, Keto and Meal Prep. There are week plans that really help the reader understand the keto diet. I found it helpful but I did not prepare any of the breakfasts because I already have a schedule for One Meal A Day that fits with my hectic work schedule. So there is flexiblity in each week.
This is a great, incredibly helpful cookbook and guidebook for anyone trying to follow a Keto meal plan. It provides clear to understand step by step recipes as well as explanations on the diet to accompany them. I love that each recipe also included a chart of nutritional information and appropriate serving sizes to understand why you are cooking and eating Keto in general. It is not an easy diet or lifestyle change to follow but this book makes it feel far more possible.
I also loved that in addition to straight recipes it also included clear instructions on organizing menus, choosing meal prep and reheating containers, and more. I think for someone to truly follow a Keto diet an understanding of these other things is also important. The abundance of photos and descriptions helped a lot in this way.
The recipes in this book definitely live up to their name. They are easy to make and pretty darn tasty. One of my problems with trying to do a keto diet on my own is that I think the diet is limiting and I can't think of anything to eat other than a salad or grilled chicken, maybe some eggs and bacon. This books shows me how I can keep my food interesting while staying keto.
I've been doing keto for a few months now and I'm always looking for new recipes to try out. The meal planning aspect is new to me and would certainly make it easier since I find myself cooking A LOT. There are so many great and easy keto meals that I can do ahead of time (meal prep) or last minute on a weeknight.
This cookbook is an excellent resource for Keto dieters the simplified make ahead food prep is a lifesaver and truly simplified this life change for me. I often struggle with this diet because I am the only one in the house that eats using this meal plan. This prep ahead recipe book allows me to make meals for myself that I can have on hand while preparing other foods for everyone else. It is a so much simpler and I am more easily able to avoid temptation and stay on track using this cookbook.
This cook book offers so many great keto meals. The broccoli cheese soup is fantastic the addition of prosciutto is well hugely satisfying adding just enough salty goodness to richly complement the rest of the soup without it being to much. The chicken burrito bowl yum..... I found so many recipes that are so easy to prep ahead so glad I found this one. and you have not lived until you have eaten a Mexican Style Breakfast Muffin... However, I could say that about pretty much any bacon recipe but I love it :)
I received this book from NetGalley and DK Alpha for an honest review.
I've been trying to get back to eating food that is good for me while still being tasty. The cookbook is easy to navigate and everything is organized. I tried my hand at making the meals for week 1. The ingredient list and prep notes were easy to follow. I was able to find all the ingredients in one store. These meals are easy to prep and cook and are tasty! It took me a couple of hours to prep and make all the food needed for week 1. I look forward to trying out the rest of the recipes in this cookbook!
This books shows 8 weekly meal plans and over 60 low carb recipes in its description of how to prep meals in advance. The author is an accredited nutritional therapist and clinical weight loss practitioner. He fully explains the Keto diet and integrates intermittent fasting as well as sound nutritional practices. His recipes look great, like the Mexican style breakfast muffins. Of course there are also great directions for each recipe and full shopping lists for each week.
Excited to try the recipes in this book as meal prep is half the battle.
Easy, concise and a pleasure to read
While this book contains easy “Keto” meal preparations, this system can work for anyone who is wanting to plan and prep their meals for the coming week. Of course some things point specifically to Keto, but I find it to be adaptive for those dieting, or just eating healthier (which the recipes lean to), and to those looking for delicious meals.
You’ll find information on Keto of course. However, you will also find instructions on choosing meal prep containers, a shopping day planner, and safe reheating guideline. Each chapter takes you through a week of prep, with there being eight weeks in all. And important to me, there are color photos throughout the book.
Recipes? On yeah. EASY KETO MEAL PREP has the recipes. Check these out . . . Italian-Style Frittata, Broccoli Cheese Soup, Pancake with Strawberries and Cream, Beef Burger Wraps, Chili Con Carne, Pulled Pork with Creamy Slaw, Smoked Salmon and Cucumber Salad, Cheeseburger Breakfast Casserole, Eggroll in a Bowl, Chocolate Mason Jar Ice Cream, Cashew Chicken, and a lot more. See? You’re getting hungry aren’t you?
Author Aaron Day has created an easy to follow book, with clear and concise instructions. I’m happy I took a chance on, EASY KETO MEAL PREP.
I’m not officially Keto, but I do try to limit my carbs to low amounts so I often find keto advice helpful. I liked the combination here of keto and meal prep because I like to preprep things to save time and a lot of meal prepping is heavy on carbs so this was a nice shift.
4 stars: I am on the Keto Diet and like anyone else, I am always looking for fast and easy meals.
Things I liked from this book: I didn't know I could have yogurt ...how did I miss that one?? There were some recipes that I am eager to try out and definitely some of the “Bombs” he mentioned!! I liked that you could freeze most of the dishes. Mr. Day took the guessing out and made up menus for 8 weeks. Most of the foods mentioned were user friendly …I don’t think there was anything that I didn’t want to make.
Things I did not like from the book: Keto can be a overwhelming program as it is …how much protein to have …how much carbs …how much fat??? Ketosis??? I have read a number of books on Keto and either the author goes into too much detail or goes on the lean side. This author was lean on information regarding the macros. When I started the diet a Macros App (download one from App Store) was indispensable in calculating the macros. This author put that down as a side bar …almost as an afterthought. As much as I liked that you could freeze most of the dishes mentioned, there is no way I would go out and purchase that many glass storage dishes ...it just doesn't work for me! I would probably make one dish and hubby would take leftovers to work the next day
What I took away from this book: The author has some really tasty looking recipes and I download almost all of them to use at a future date. There was some foods that I didn’t know I could have and some favorites that I will definitely make up soon!
I would like to thank the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in return for an honest and unbiased review
Easy Keto Meal Prep is a great introduction to keto. It covers how the diet works, the important of macros and has 8 weeks of meal prep menus. Not only do the meal plans have alternative meals, they also have additional goodies covering a great variety of food.
Every recipe pictured looks amazing. Unfortunately only half of the recipes had pictures. The more visually stunning a cook book the more likely it will be picked up. Hopefully that will be taken to heart if this is reprinted or the author plans another cookbook.
This cookbook is a little different then others in that addition to providing recipes, it also helps provide meal planning and meal prepping. I found this to be really helpful! I love being able to have multiple meals out of a single recipe - as a working mom there is nothing worse than trying to get organized in the morning for the whole household. Having a meal already made and packaged is wonderful!
The recipes in this are good. They aren't anything super fancy, but they are filling and tasty. I found some of the carb counts in a couple things a little high, but as long as you are planning accordingly, they should all be able to fit into a day's plan. It does require a little planning though.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book's plan. I think i would actually sub in some other recipes as well, but I love the idea of organizing in this way! I would definitely recommend.
Great yummy recipes! I haven’t tried everything in the book but what I have I have loved! It’s a change and one I think I’m going to adjust well too!
Thank you to NetGalley and DK for sending me an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I don’t follow the Keto diet, but was interested in checking out Aaron Day’s cookbook for healthy meal prep ideas and inspiration. Meal prep is becoming all the rage because of its health benefits, convenience and cost-effectiveness. This book is a great resource for anyone who's either a) new to Keto/meal prepping or b) honestly just wants someone else to do the bulk of the work! I know for me, planning what I want to eat, preparing the shopping list, figuring out whether it's healthy or not is the most time-consuming, frustrating part of the meal prep process.
Day starts the book with some basic information (what the Keto diet is, tips for shopping and meal prepping, how to safely reheat your food, a list of healthy snack options etc.) then separates the remainder of the book into eight weeks of pre-planned meals, including breakfasts, lunches, dinners and optional sweet treats. Each recipe tells you how much fiber is included, the percentage of protein, fat and carbs and the number of calories. This information is so helpful to anyone who is trying to eat healthier or lose weight. Each week also includes a shopping list and the kitchen equipment you'll need to complete the recipes. With all this information, I feel like Day has provided a jumping-off point for people to go it on their own after completing the book. (Or I guess they could start back at Week 1!) The layout of the book was well organized and had an attractive, clean design.
The only thing I didn’t like about the book was that there were only a few vegetarian options. If you prefer to eat mainly meatless, then this book isn't for you. That said, Day does a great job of varying the types of cuisines and ingredients to keep you interested and less tempted to ditch your meal prep for something bought or unhealthy. I’m most excited to try the Lamb Koftas, Cashew Chicken, Crustless Quiche and Thai Chicken Laksa.
As the wife of a diabetic, I often find that keto recipes line up with low carb/no carb very well. I stink at meal prepping but this book lays everything out: recommended storage containers and how many, substitutes if you find you don't have something, and a full spread of keto-friendly snacks. Tips on the prep process itself and safely reheating foods are also included! It makes me feel much more confident that (when I do become a meal prepper) this book could help me be successful.
There are 8 weeks of plans included. Everything is laid out step-by-step with lots of color photos and it isn't intimidating at all. It says all the meals you're prepping and a few alternative meals plus recommended snacks. A shopping list makes life SUPER EASY. The recipes all look delicious and easy.
