The Enneagram is an effective personality classification system that describes the characteristics, behaviors, and core values of nine different personality types--enneatypes--each identified by a number. The Enneagram & You helps you identify your personality type so you can discover how to best interact with your family, friends, coworkers, and love interests. You'll also learn about each type pairing--from Type 1 with Type 1 to a Type 9 with Type 9 and every combination in between--as well as the harmonies and challenges each pairing faces and advice on how to effectively communicate and better understand what each personality type needs to feel fully engaged, known, and valued.

I've always had an interest in understanding personality, and have been meaning to explore the Enneagram for a number of years, yet just never got around to it. This past week I decided to listen to this book on a whim, and it definitely wasn't the right place to start.
This book gives a good introduction to what the Enneagram is, as well as, an overview of the nine enneatypes, before going in-depth into the interactions between the various types. As a newbie, I found the first third interesting. However, the majority was beyond my understanding, which wasn't necessarily helpful given that I don't know the type of those people in my life (something the author actually discourages against trying to figure out).
I could see how this would be beneficial to human resource departments if they know all of the types of their employees, but for me I found myself skipping large sections. The Enneagram & You is definitely better suited for those people with a greater knowledge of their own type as well as the types of their partners, family, friends and co-workers.

I really liked this. It was an easy to read, understandable breakdown of Enneagrams. I think it would have been more helpful for me to know what my husband/coworkers/friends Enneagram numbers are, but I was able to read about mine and how I interact with other numbers and it feels very accurate. It was wonderful insight.
I have been hearing about enneagram so I decided to see if it adds up to other personality test I have done. I was surprised to say that it did. I’ve enjoyed learning more about myself and how I react to the other types.
I'm new to Enneagram and am fascinated how it can affect you and your connections to others. It can be such an eye opener and explain a little more how and why you feel differently in certain situations than someone else and put yourself in other people's shoes a little more if you know what number they are too. Great for building empathy for others and yourself in more of a guideline than other systems use as well.
I am so excited about this book. Gina Gomez is amazing. Anyone who is interested in the enneagram, whether you are new to it or have been into it for awhile will love this book and find it extremely helpful. Well written. I highly, highly recommend it!
If you're just getting into the Enneagram and feeling a bit overwhelmed, this is a great starter book. It gives an overview of what the enneagram is and introduces you to the nine types. It's a very quick and easy to read. Although it's a non-fiction book, it's not dry. I love how readable it is! Although I found the test a bit too simplistic, the rest of the book is invaluable in your beginner education of the enneagram.
If you enjoy learning more about enneagrams and your personality, this is a book to read. It explores the relationship between different personality types. This can be helpful in marriage and other relationships to better understand your spouse and other relationships.
I found this book to be really interesting, it explores the the topic of the enneagram but from the perspective of a relationship, exploring how your personality may ot may not affect your relationships. I found the first section in the book really book since it explores and gives you a lot of information of what your personality type may be.
I love the Enneagram but I was not impressed with this read. My understanding of the Enneagram has been that a quiz is not efficient in determining your type - but that is how the book starts off. There is very little discussion on "childhood wounds" and what they mean for the types or motivations. I felt it was much more focused on behaviours. Overall, this book may be good if you've never read anything about the Enneagram before as a very basic introduction, but I did not enjoy it!
*I received an eARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my review. All opinions are mine*
Okay, so I went into this one not knowing what an enneagram was, and frankly I still don't. I tried taking the quiz, but the formatting on the ebook made it difficult to do. There also didn't seem to be a whole lot of information along with the book. It probably could have been an article on a website rather than a book.
The Enneagram is a personnality test made up of nine different personalitiy types with a list of traits and behaviours.
It helps you to know more about your personality, what is motivating you and how to deal with your other relationships at home, at work or whith friends.
In this book you will be able to do the Ennegram test or you can do it online she recommanded:https://www.eclecticenergies.com/enneagram/
I did mine online.
You will learn more about your type, your strenghts, your weaknesses and how to deal with other types at home or at work.
It interesting if you want to know more about yourself and understand your behaviour. Learning about yourself helps you to accept you as you are and navigate into life with more wisdom.
I had a pretty basic understanding of the enneagram prior to reading this book, but I liked how this book emphasized different relationships. Gina walks you through each type pairing and how they interact together at work and home, and also in romantic relationships. It did feel a little slow when I was reading about types other than my own, but overall, it was very informational and I would recommend checking it out, if you are looking to learn more about the enneagram.
This is a good introduction to the enneagram, a personality sorter with nine different types. I haven't read many books on the topic, but found this to be fairly understandable and approachable. Includes individual strengths and challenges for each type in some detail, as well as work styles and relationships between each of the nine different types. Would be a good choice for romantic partners or office teams who want to understand each other better. Plus I love a good personality quiz, and this book starts with nine of them.
I am fairly familiar with ennegram due to extensive reading on the subject, so I was excited to see what Gina Gomez had to bring to the conversation. I found the Enneagram & You to be a good beginner piece. It explored the relational aspect of enneagram which I think is an under discussed topic. I would recommend this for those that are getting into the ennea trend.
I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am new to the Enneagram lifestyle, but this was such a great resource. I found out recently that I am a 4, and this book helped me learn so much about myself. I think anyone who is learning about their enneagram should grab this and get to reading!
Thank you kindly to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.
3.5 stars.
LOVED: the inclusion of various triads in the discussion - stances/Hornevian triads, Harmonic triads, Object Relations triads and the centers of intelligence. This is something I want to read more about, and I loved getting a glimpse of those pieces in this resource.
The rest is a pretty basic introductory look at the Enneagram. There's a quiz, which I know newcomers love to see, although the research says that quizzes are NOT a great way to find your number and can set you on the wrong path for awhile with the Enneagram.
There's a look at each type - about 5 pages of content for each. And then the author pairs the numbers in the areas of relationships at home, romantic relationships, and work relationships. (By "pair" I mean Type One with Type One, Type One with Type Two and so on) These are interesting discussions, but fairly broad instead of deep.
When someone talks to me about the Enneagram, I always suggest they start with The Road Back to You and some podcasts from top teachers. That recommendation is not changing any time soon. But I could see newcomers starting here, too, although the triads piece to me seems a deeper level of instruction when compared to the rest of the book.
Personalty types and relationships!
There's been a plethora of personality type methods over the years. The enneagram is one of the latest such personality organizing types. The end game of course is to use that information in order to facilitate better understanding at the personal, family and beyond for relationships.
A fascinating read that gives those who want to investigate personal and interpersonal relational development, to understand other ways to communicate with those around them.

I have read a couple of other books on this subject and taken a course through my work that utilized a very similar system to guide recognition of personality types. This book does a good job with this and gives good summaries and explanations of the types as well as those features of someone’s personality that either strengthen or detract from their responses to events. One aspect of this type of program that I greatly appreciate is the breakdown of what drives a person’s response to events based on their type but then how that changes depending on the circumstances. For instance, I find it fascinating to try to understand how we all respond (within our types) when at ease versus under stress. I also appreciate the discussion of the ways to interact with others in ways that are mutually beneficial and productive.
Fascinating subject and well done book.
Thank you for the early release copy.

“The Enneagram & You” by Gina Gomez covers the wide range of relationships within the enneagram. From your relationships at home to your relationships at work there are different solutions for the best communication strategies and Gomez covers them all.
I’ve really enjoyed learning about the enneagram in the past few years. It’s interesting to find something that details your potential strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. And most of it is spot on and makes sense.
I loved this book because it covered so much. The extensive nature of this book makes it a major resource for all relationships. It’s interesting to see all the unique relationships.
I wish there would have been a little more on wings and how that might change relationships, but that could get too detailed.
Overall, I loved this book. I gave it 4 stars.
I love books about the Enneagram and this is a great one, especially if you are just getting started. It starts with a well thought out quiz that was pretty accurate in my eyes. It then goes into more detail for each type and I felt it was the perfect amount of information.
Lastly there were combinations of each types for home, romantic relationships, and work which is where I did learn some new information. I found that it was like there were cameras in my house for the combinations of 7's and 9's (my husband and I) and there were definitely some things to consider there.
This isn't really a book that you would normally read all the way through since you will mostly be focusing on your number and the numbers of your close friends and family, but I find it a great introduction to learning about your enneagram number and how to relate with those around you.
