Description
The enneagram is an effective personality classification system that describes the characteristics, behaviors, and core values of nine different personality types—enneatypes—each identified by a number. The Enneagram & You helps you identify your personality type so you can discover how to best interact with your family, friends, coworkers, and love interests. You’ll also learn about each type pairing—from Type 1 with Type 1 to a Type 9 with Type 9 and every combination in between—as well as the harmonies and challenges each pairing faces and advice on how to effectively communicate and better understand what each personality type needs to feel fully engaged, known, and valued.
Armed with this knowledge, you’ll begin to anticipate your reactions and responses to the various people in your life. And you’ll also be able to better comprehend their reactions and responses to you. By understanding your own strengths and recognizing areas for growth, you can improve your relationships in ways that might have previously seemed impossible. Applying the wisdom of the enneagram-based personality types can lead to better connections and a deeper understanding of yourself and those around you!

This book covers everything you need to know about the The Enneagram which is an ancient personality system comprised of 9 different personality types. It shows you why you have the personality traits you do, what’s motivating your behaviours, how to approach conflict, and how best to interact with others. There is a quiz included that will help you determine which of the 9 personality types you fall under. I really liked that this was included because it's difficult to find free reputable Enneagram quizzes online. What's great about this, is that you can have your family and friends do the quiz as well. You can then see by reading the many chapters in this book how your personality type interacts with your family and friend's personality types as well, showing areas of strength and areas of improvement that will ultimately help you make the most out of your relationships.
The Enneagram can help you develop more self-awareness that will nurture more self-love, mindfulness, and compassion. When you’re able to better understand yourself, you can make better choices that will empower you, instead of you questioning and critiquing yourself to death because you think there is something wrong with who you are.
Overall I thought this was a good concise book on The Enneagram that I would recommend to anyone who is curious about this system.
There are many books on this topic. I haven't read them, but this is quite good. It covers a lot of ground including work and relationships. It also covers the value of this system. Particularly if you know nothing about it, this will be a good resource for you.
Thanks very much for the ARC for review!!
This is a great book that contains a multitude of information on the enneagram, from the basics to how they work in relationship to each other. I found it particularly helpful to be able to look at how the different types relate to each other in work and in romantic settings.
Personalty types and relationships!
There's been a plethora of personality type methods over the years. The enneagram is one of the latest such personality organizing types. The end game of course is to use that information in order to facilitate better understanding at the personal, family and beyond for relationships.
A fascinating read that gives those who want to investigate personal and interpersonal relational development, to understand other ways to communicate with those around them.

I have read a couple of other books on this subject and taken a course through my work that utilized a very similar system to guide recognition of personality types. This book does a good job with this and gives good summaries and explanations of the types as well as those features of someone’s personality that either strengthen or detract from their responses to events. One aspect of this type of program that I greatly appreciate is the breakdown of what drives a person’s response to events based on their type but then how that changes depending on the circumstances. For instance, I find it fascinating to try to understand how we all respond (within our types) when at ease versus under stress. I also appreciate the discussion of the ways to interact with others in ways that are mutually beneficial and productive.
Fascinating subject and well done book.
Thank you for the early release copy.

I love books about the Enneagram and this is a great one, especially if you are just getting started. It starts with a well thought out quiz that was pretty accurate in my eyes. It then goes into more detail for each type and I felt it was the perfect amount of information.
Lastly there were combinations of each types for home, romantic relationships, and work which is where I did learn some new information. I found that it was like there were cameras in my house for the combinations of 7's and 9's (my husband and I) and there were definitely some things to consider there.
This isn't really a book that you would normally read all the way through since you will mostly be focusing on your number and the numbers of your close friends and family, but I find it a great introduction to learning about your enneagram number and how to relate with those around you.
I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am new to the Enneagram lifestyle, but this was such a great resource. I found out recently that I am a 4, and this book helped me learn so much about myself. I think anyone who is learning about their enneagram should grab this and get to reading!
Thank you kindly to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this review copy.
"The Enneagram and You" by Gina Gomez is a good user-friendly, easy-to-understand book that introduces the reader to the Enneagram as well as the descriptions of all the types and also the triads and centers. In addition, it includes a section on how understanding your enneagram type can help you in life decisions, self awareness, relationships, and well-being. I also appreciated the way the enneagram descriptions were grouped to include a description of their type, strengths and challenges, and a description of that personality at work and relationships. It also includes strengths and challenges for couples of different types. I really liked the way this book was organized. Many enneagram books include so much information, one can get lost trying to find the relevant information they are looking for. This book is designed for the reader to understand the enneagram without too much fluff, and then provides a "manual" for navigating relationships with the different types. This it the kind of book that I will refer back to because it contains all the "meat" I want without all the "fluff" and is focused on how to use the enneagram to benefit us.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
I am fairly familiar with ennegram due to extensive reading on the subject, so I was excited to see what Gina Gomez had to bring to the conversation. I found the Enneagram & You to be a good beginner piece. It explored the relational aspect of enneagram which I think is an under discussed topic. I would recommend this for those that are getting into the ennea trend.
This is a good introduction to the enneagram, a personality sorter with nine different types. I haven't read many books on the topic, but found this to be fairly understandable and approachable. Includes individual strengths and challenges for each type in some detail, as well as work styles and relationships between each of the nine different types. Would be a good choice for romantic partners or office teams who want to understand each other better. Plus I love a good personality quiz, and this book starts with nine of them.
If you're just getting into the Enneagram and feeling a bit overwhelmed, this is a great starter book. It gives an overview of what the enneagram is and introduces you to the nine types. It's a very quick and easy to read. Although it's a non-fiction book, it's not dry. I love how readable it is! Although I found the test a bit too simplistic, the rest of the book is invaluable in your beginner education of the enneagram.
I'm new to Enneagram and am fascinated how it can affect you and your connections to others. It can be such an eye opener and explain a little more how and why you feel differently in certain situations than someone else and put yourself in other people's shoes a little more if you know what number they are too. Great for building empathy for others and yourself in more of a guideline than other systems use as well.
I am so excited about this book. Gina Gomez is amazing. Anyone who is interested in the enneagram, whether you are new to it or have been into it for awhile will love this book and find it extremely helpful. Well written. I highly, highly recommend it!
I really liked this. It was an easy to read, understandable breakdown of Enneagrams. I think it would have been more helpful for me to know what my husband/coworkers/friends Enneagram numbers are, but I was able to read about mine and how I interact with other numbers and it feels very accurate. It was wonderful insight.
