I loved the fact that Emmy loved Alex from the start and that he kept her in his heart all those years. The real story was intriguing and will keep readers wondering how these lovers will ever get a HEA as they are on opposite sides of the law. The underlying sensual tension and the thrill of the chase will have you enthralled until the end.

Just loved this book. After reading the first and being engrossed in that one I had no doubt I would love this one also, I was not disappointed it was funny, Emmy had a mind of her own and Alex was a great hero. The story was really good and keeps you reading I couldn’t put it down read it in one go. I thoroughly recommend it and I can’t wait for Sebastian’s story to unfold.

After the death of. her father, Emmy Dancers becomes the thief known as the Nightjar.

Alexander Harland, is a part owner of a gaming hall and also works for Bow Street and is determined to catch the Nightjar.

This is a nice well-written book. Has humor, is sexy, action and suspense. Once started, you will keep turning the pages.

I received an advance reader copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Well, this was an exciting addition to the series. A little cheeky but such a great companion to the first book. I highly recommend and thank you to netgalley for the opportunity to read this amazing book.

3.5 stars
My first book by the author and although I found very intriguing the whole plot, there are things that I just couldn’t get over with throughout the book.
I’m always looking forward to a strong heroine , especially if she’s the villain in the story and her freedom of living her life as she wants in that times was a bit confusing for me with all the rules that the ton were setting up.
The chemistry between them wasn’t felt so strong as I expected unfortunately.
I’ll definitely read more books by the author and I know that some people will enjoy this book more than me for sure.

Kate shows that women are just as able to be masterminds as men while staying true to themselves. I can't wait to see what happens to Sebastian.

"If you run, I will chase you to the ends of the earth, never doubt it."

I really enjoyed the second instalment in this series! Granted, with both you have to suspend all belief and just kind of go with it, because in both books the premise is a bit strange, but that's actually the part I love most. What I really enjoy is that her characters are always equal partners in crime, ok not so much "in crime" in this one, as one of them is a thief, and the other one works for Bow Street, but you know what I mean. Let's call these two perfect partners in life (as our hero actually does, too). They really bring out the best in each other.

I loved our heroine, Emmy. She is a lovely heroine, proud and unashamed of being a thief (for a good cause), and I loved how she went after what she wanted. Her chemistry with Alex was full of fun banter and the thrill of the chase, and I really enjoyed their game of cat and mouse.

Alex, our hero, took a while to warm up to for me, but I really liked his snark. He was a tad too proud and full of himself sometimes for my tastes, but I ended up really liking him. He really needed someone like Emmy to tease and challenge him, and I loved the two together.

The only thing I missed a little bit was what I loved most about the first book in the series, and that was them actually working together. I wished they'd had a bit more of a conversation at the end, and I would've enjoyed it more if they had come up with the idea to catch the bad guy together, but oh well. It was still immensely entertaining, and I really enjoyed it!

And now I can't wait for the third member of the gang to meet his match!

A cat and mouse game turned romance made for a fun read. I liked that this book had a different plot from most books in this genre. The subtle and sometimes overt flirtation between Alex and Emmy ramped up at a good pace but the main plot about the jewel heists were never forgotten. The ending was predictable but it was still a good book.

What a totally delightful romp! This is my first book by Kate Bateman, thank you NetGalley for finding me another author to love! The characters are a breath of fresh air, strong, witty, and charming.. This story definitely left me wanting MORE!

I received an copy of this book in exchange for a review.

Emmy is a jewel thief. Not the usual sort of occupation for women in romance novels, which got my attention. To make it more interesting, the man she's going up against is not only vision impaired from the war against Napoleon, but he's out to catch her and bring her to justice.

There were times during this book where it could have become formulaic and done things the way they normally are in historical romances. But it never did.

While the story didn't keep me awake at night (thank goodness), it wasn't boring and I couldn't have predicted the outcomes (well of course I predicted one).

I look forward to reading more works by Kate Bateman.

I've definitely been into romance lately but I've also kind of exhausted my usual authors. I picked this up after an email from @netgalley and I ended up really enjoying it! It's the second in the Bow Street Bachelor series, but I'm glad this is the first one I read. Our main female character is a thief and the love interest, the person that's supposed to catch her. For that reason, I felt like it was different from a lot of other historical regency era romances that I've read. I liked both of the characters and I'm going to be honest, I was wondering how it would all wrap up until almost the last page!

What a great romance story! Great character and story line development. The story really grabs the ready making it difficult to put down to the very end. A must read for those who love historical romances.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a fast paced, amusing read that kept my interest throughout. Both Hero and Heroine were well written, entertaining characters.

I think it is the 2nd in a series but it was extremely enjoyable to read as a stand-alone novel. I will definitely be on the lookout for further books by this author.
Thank you to the publishers for the ARC copy and also to NetGalley.

I kind of struggled getting into this book. I just didn't like Alex or Emmy. I didn't feel the connection with them at all. Emmy has loved Alex for years. She steals a kiss at a masquerade ball and while Alex is off fighting he thinks of that kiss. Okay so I like that part. I don't like that Emmy is a criminal and that Alex is in charge of finding her. I just didn't like the story arc.

It was a short read and it was somewhat enjoyable. I loved the first book in this series so i will absolutely continue with the series.

This book hooked me from the first page. It starts with our pair meeting four years previous to the events of the book and sets the stage between them. We have an opposites attract thing here with our heroine being the Nightjar, an infamous jewel thief and our hero an Earl and Bow Street Runner with a strong sense of right and wrong. They’re both highly intelligent, quick witted, strong willed, and confident. It leads to great repartee between them and fuels the flames of desire. They truly are a great match and they keep each other on their toes. A very good read with good flow and lots of action to keep things interesting.

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was thoroughly entertained by the characters in this novel. Emmy is a fierce, intelligent woman forced to be a thief to shield her family from danger. She is attracted to the handsome Earl but knows they can't be together due to her profession. It was amusing to watch them outwit each other as he tries to catch her in the act. He's fiercely attracted to her but is willed to do the right thing and bring her in.
The only thing I wasn't crazy about was although he could say the most romantic, seductive things there were moments where his crass sexual comments seemed out of place.
But other than that, I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author.

Spoiler Notice

This is the second book of the Bow Street Bachelors, you don't have to read them in order but it makes the stories more interesting as the characters from 'This Earl of Mine' show up again.
I was hooked from the start when a young lady at a masquerade ball ask a gentleman for a dance !
Women just don't do this...This is his last night home before he leaves for Portugal to fight.
They share a dance, and kisses along with some very witty talk before she leave him without even telling her name, just a nickname "Little Thief". If he only knew how true that was.
Emmeline Lourse d'Anvers, Emmy is the daughter of the most notorious jewel thief in Europe.
He has been stealing back the missing jewels of France for over a decade not to keep or sell but to return to France. He has a calling card, a black feather that is left in place of the item taken.
Nothing has been stolen for four years, then they start up again.
Alex Hartland, Earl of Melton is a Rake who loves women but never plans to marry. An ex soldier
who fought for the last four years again Napoleon. He now works for Bow Street investigating sensitive cases.
It has been four years since Emmy had her dance with Alex. She had watched him at dances and with other lady, before she surprised him at the ball. Even four years later she still has never forgot
that night, thinking about their kisses, and teasing talk way to much.
Alex has also never forgot the lady who broke the rules and asked him to dance. He has though about her way too much in the last four years. Her scent has stayed with him and he looks for her
at the balls and parties even now.
Humm what will happen when a Runner and a thief meet again. When he figures out she is the lady of his dreams. The byplay between these two is wonderful and funny.
How they will solve the problems between then. This book has the best characters in it
Her Grandmother is a hoot, her brother is the best and has been thru so much. The most colorful
is the maid/housekeeper/friend Sally Hawkins you can't help but love her..
I don't want to give too much more away as it will spoil it for you...
Trust me get a copy and set back to enjoy a really fun, romantic, suspenseful read..
I can't wait for the next book, sure hope it's Sebastien Wolff story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m giving this book five stars because in my opinion it is an enthralling read. An historical romance that whirls mainly around a caged passion between the hero and the heroine. There are no pages to be skipped because each one has the power to leave the reader with wanting more. The peculiarity of this story is not about the steamy scenes but it is all about this expectation of longing which gave me only hope that the story would never end. Unfortunately good things always come to an end and the grand finale is that happy ending that every girl dreams of.
