I'm a little confused because for some reason I thought the doctor was dark? and that's not what I found here.

Look, I'm all about soft male characters in a world full of alpha assholes but I like to know that beforehand, so obviously I entered this book with a dark romance mentality and I wasn't prepared for the outcome to be a shy doctor unaccustomed to the dating scene. Then we have the female protagonist who was quite irrational. I really tried to understand her train of thought, but sometimes it was too much, she basically had a double personality.

So while the story had a nice plot and the pace was easy to follow, it was difficult to connect with the main couple.

This was a really sweet romance I thought. Two people who had a fling that ended with Daisy took off without a word reconnect and rebuild their relationship.

This was an enjoyable and good romance read. I enjoyed the characters and their dialogue. This was my first book by Kristen Casey and I look forward to reading more from her!

Thanks to NetGalley and Gallant Fox Press for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Not incredibly blown away by this romance novel featuring a very sexy Italian doctor. Daisy is attracted to Luca whom she meets at a study abroad program in Italy. They begin a whirlwind affair that leaves very little room to really get to know each other. They meet again at a company party in NY and Lucas spends the rest of the novel trying to convince Daisy to stay with him. I wasn't feeling their romance. Their interactions seemed slightly cheesy and akward with Luca doing a lot of begging and Daisy running. Just not sexy at all.

Can somebody please explain to me how the doctor was dark??? By the title I was given the impression that I was in for some dark, hot, daresay sexy turns and twists.

We kick off with the insanely hot (because why not?) workaholic Italian doctor Luca, who barely has time to date. I reference the title yet again, I expected a dominant who knows what he is about. What did we get instead you ask?? We got a shy doctor who is definitely unaccustomed to the dating scene and is getting assistance from his gran (Nonna) and family..... Ok sure we can work with that..... Everyone loves a good meddling family

Let's move on to our damsel in distress AKA Daisy who has a horrible dating past (I mean don't we all?). They have this hot and heavy romance with no consideration to their "real" lives or Daisy's upcoming departure back to America. Then lo and behold they apparently broke it off (reason unclear) and then through their meddling friends happen to meet at a party (I am beginning to think there may be a sprinkle of fate in the mix here).

But alas, Daisy seems hella bent on running the opposite direction, so I must admit something juicy is in the midst yes? Then we realize she has been treating her Italy trip as a Euro version of “How Stella got her groove back” so we are now in the conundrum of bipolar Daisy (Italy Daisy) and the real New York Daisy.

I really tried to get into Daisy's rationale, I honestly really did as an ethic person with similar background issues I tried to put myself in her shoes, understand her rationale and mannerisms, etc and I could not. Luca in my opinion gave her wayyyyy more chances than was necessary and honestly paints women out to be whiny and bratty with no consideration for men and their efforts. He basically said the L word first, handled all her family drama, even understood her leaving high and dry but she fought him at every turn. She was so engrossed in Daisy Land that she could not step out of her own hurt to realize Luca was a person with his own needs.

I can't say I was a Daisy fan but Luca made the book worth it! I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review on NetGalley .

Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion.
The main character was a rough spot in this book and I did not like the way the author jumped in the timeline. But I enjoyed the author’s perspective on things.

I hate weak and whiny mc and we got that with Daisy, she needed to buck up and be greatful for what you have and have accomplished and stop comparing herself to Luca. Luca I didn't get what you saw in Daisy, and I hate flashbacks, sometimes i can annoying put up with it if it will assist in story I didn't find that to be the case with this book, will I read more, yeah no.

I received this from NetGalley.
I liked the characters. The book was well written, and the two main characters define you had chemistry. It was fun to read.
However, I did not like the flashback chapters. They did not add much to the story, and I ended up skipping most of them to read the other chapters.
I would recommend this book to people who like romance.

This is the first book I've read by Kristen Casey and I received a copy from NetGalley. I overall enjoyed the book but I did find a few parts a bit not to my preference. I tend to not like the jumping back and forth between timelines, which happened in this book, as the main characters, Luca and Daisy meet again about 18 months after they first met in Florence. I didn't think that the flashbacks really added much to the story and I personally think they could have been summarized quickly to set the stage for the present.

Also, it became a bit exhausting how down Daisy was about herself. She was written to find herself very inferior to Luca and I'm not really sure why- she took smart risks, was a professor in Italy and has a good job as a graphic designer in a big company (Run by Red, of the prior book, which I hadn't read yet.

That said, the banter was fun, (Her conversations with her turtle Jerome were pretty funny) and Luca was wonderfully written. I loved his family as well and it was nice to see Daisy grow into herself. I will likely read the other books in this series because I did like Kristen Casey's writing style.
