Description

Take this oath and…

Shove it. As far as Luca was concerned, his promise to first do no harm could take a flying leap off a tall building. A doctor of his caliber should’ve known better than to make assumptions, though—and the biggest one he’d made was thinking he could ever live without Daisy. Now that he’s finally tracked her down, he’s prepared to move heaven and earth—and maybe even harm a person or two—in order to win back the one who got away. If only it were that simple.

The woman he fell for a year ago was not at all what she seemed. Back in America, his supposedly sweet, uncomplicated graduate student is actually a ferociously-talented professional, and twice as seductive as she was before. Daisy is also his old friend’s newest hire—and she’s not exactly thrilled to see Luca show up unexpectedly at her first work party.

When she discovers that Luca wasn’t exactly forthcoming about his professional pedigree either, it becomes clear that Daisy’s made some hasty assumptions of her own. Luca will have to wield every instrument at his disposal to heal her hurts. Forget his best bedside manner—winning Daisy a second time is going to require all of Luca’s heart, too.

Can he convince Daisy that love is still the best medicine, even on a new continent and in their real-life roles? Or will Luca find himself heading back to Italy alone and sick at heart?

There’s just one way to find out.

The doctor will see you now.

"""The first chapter caught my attention and I was really looking forward to how this story would unfold... the characters were immediately likable and I loved the Italian sprinkled throughout. Of course, I love Kristen Casey‘s dialogues... so witty and realistic... she never disappoints!"" - Helen S, Amazon reviewer

""I've read all of Casey's books but this is one of her best. I really appreciate how she sets the tone and place so well that I'm transported to wherever her books take place. Her witty dialog makes me laugh out loud..."" - Shannon C, Amazon reviewer"

This is the first book I've read by Kristen Casey and I received a copy from NetGalley. I overall enjoyed the book but I did find a few parts a bit not to my preference. I tend to not like the jumping back and forth between timelines, which happened in this book, as the main characters, Luca and Daisy meet again about 18 months after they first met in Florence. I didn't think that the flashbacks really added much to the story and I personally think they could have been summarized quickly to set the stage for the present.

Also, it became a bit exhausting how down Daisy was about herself. She was written to find herself very inferior to Luca and I'm not really sure why- she took smart risks, was a professor in Italy and has a good job as a graphic designer in a big company (Run by Red, of the prior book, which I hadn't read yet.

That said, the banter was fun, (Her conversations with her turtle Jerome were pretty funny) and Luca was wonderfully written. I loved his family as well and it was nice to see Daisy grow into herself. I will likely read the other books in this series because I did like Kristen Casey's writing style.

I received this from NetGalley.
I liked the characters. The book was well written, and the two main characters define you had chemistry. It was fun to read.
However, I did not like the flashback chapters. They did not add much to the story, and I ended up skipping most of them to read the other chapters.
I would recommend this book to people who like romance.

This was a really sweet romance I thought. Two people who had a fling that ended with Daisy took off without a word reconnect and rebuild their relationship.
