Haha, what a cat-astrophe. I love a good pun to end a fun book.
The Cone Cat has a message that isn't immediately obvious: live in the present. Change is the only constant and it will take some time to adjust everytime you are met with change, but it is life.
Two, make the most of what you have. Learn to adapt, to adjust.
I can imagine this book being great to narrate to a kid.
Meet Jeremy. He wakes up after a vet visit with none other than the Cone of Shame! He’s not too thrilled to be in this situation, but he is resilient. He turns this bad situation into a win for himself! Jeremy and the cone become one and work together to get a special surprise. I like the twist at the end, too. Such a cute and funny book!
What a fun and engaging picture book!!! All children who love cats will have fun reading this book. It is funny, and imaginative. I feel that the illustrations could have been better, but other than that, I loved it ! It was a very cute story.

Cone Cat is an amusing book about a cat that has a vet cone placed on him. It is a easy read. Cute night time story or learn to read book. I recommend for grades pre-k through 2nd.
I loved this book! The cat is very upset by his cone after visiting the vet, but he learned quickly that it can actually benefit him to wear a cone. Cute story with nice illustrations
Cat lovers will appreciate the humor that Jeremy-Cone Cat- Finds as he revels in his new found super hero abilities all because of the cone on his head. The illustrations are soft and whimsical. This cat is ready for they world.
A great read for children of cat lovers. A wonderfully funny story of overcoming something new and looking at the positive side.
Adorable story about a cat ho finds himself navigating his day with the cone of shame. He's adventures while wearing the cone are totally adorable. I really liked this book and recommend it to anyone who likes cats and adventure!
Poor Jeremy is renamed Cone Cat for obvious reasons. He hates it at first, but then discovers the positive aspects of wearing a cone. In the end, it turns out he misses it, but not for long.
While some may find this entertaining, most will find it predictable, bland, and even impractical at times. Mok's illustrations also leave much to be desired. In the end, this book will forgotten among much better options.
Libraries and readers should skip this book in favor of Carter Goodrich's Mister Bud Wears the Cone.
This is such a cute book. When Jeremy the cat becomes Cone Cat after a trip to the vet, he thinks his life is over. He quickly learns that the cone has its advantages. The text is funny and the illustrations are adorable. #ConeCat #NetGalley
Cute picture book about a cat who wakes up to discover he has a cone! He tries to figure out how to eat with the cone and identifies with some interesting household items. Give to students who like fun, quick reads or those looking for cat stories.
Childrens picture book. This book takes the familiar sight of a pet in a cone and tells the story of how the pet uses it to his advantage. Jeremy the cat is not happy about his cone from the vet. Until he realizes it can save leftover cereal milk for later. As Jeremy uses the cone to amplify sound and sneak himself some ice cream, he becomes a bit fond of it. A very cute story-- the expressions on Jeremy's face are particularly well done. A fun new addition to the world of children's picture books about pets.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to review a digital advanced copy of this title.
This was a unique book about not just a cat, but making the most of a difficult situation. The inventiveness Jeremy uses to gain access to more food and get into more trouble is amusing. The illustrations highlight soft colors with smooth shapes. Jeremy’s changing expressions draw in the reader on each page. A laugh-aloud book of pet antics and the pursuit of food.
My reviews and opinions are my own.
Cone Cat is a cute story about Jeremy the cat. Jeremy has just woken up at the vet to find that he is now stuck with a cone around his head. At first, Jeremy feels the cone will be his demise. However, it doesn't take long for the smart cat to figure out ways that the cone could actually be a benefit to him.
Jeremy the cat’s life is initially restricted when he has to wear a “cone” (aka an Elizabethan collar) but he soon learns he can use it to his advantage, even as a bowl in which to receive ice cream. He grows so used to the cone that he is at a disadvantage when it is removed, injuring himself and having to wear a cone yet again.
This was an okay little picture book, but it felt predictable and ultimately forgettable. Children might enjoy comparing how Jeremy and their own pets adjust to wearing cones. Really, though, I think it’s fair to say you can take a pass on this picture book.
Having lived with cats for most of my life, I have to say that this encompassed the behavior of a cat very well. The cat is annoyed by the cone and doesn't enjoy the company of small children, though he does like to scavenge behind her. In all, this book is perfect for the young reader who has or wants pets. It's amusing and well presented. I'd gladly add it to the picture books in my library upon its publication.
Setting aside the somewhat implausible plot points (who just drops scoops of ice cream without watching where they're going?), this is an amusing story that will likely appeal to cat lovers.
Jeremy the cat wakes up at the vet with a cone around his head. It interferes with all his daily activities: hunting spiders, stealing food, scratching the furniture, and licking his butthole (parents might want to be aware that there are two pictures that feature the cat licking said butthole). But on the day of Ava's birthday party, he realizes that the cone might be good for some things after all, and he grows to love his new accessory.
The story is obviously about making the best of things. The message is fine. The illustrations are okay, too, even if they're not in a style that I really enjoy.
Overall, this is a decent picture book about a predicament that many pets will face at some point. It will probably appeal mostly to cat lovers, though.
Cone Cat turned out to be a fun read for all of my young readers. We loved this little mischievous cat! The illustrations are colorful and the story is an easy read that keeps little ones engaged. Definitely pick this one up if you have kids who love cats.

This is the first time I have seen a picture book about a CAT wearing the cone. For pet and CAT loving kids, this is a funny story. My students will love it! Definitely on my shopping list.
I am so capital-E-excited to buy this book for our local animal rescue! Jeremy the cat has to learn to overcome the frustration of having to wear the dreaded cone when he comes home from the vet, but he quickly learns that the cone has unique benefits all its own. This story is a fantastic way to open a child's eyes to the hidden potential of dealing with injury and frustration in their own lives!
