I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I was attracted to this book by the cover and was not disappointed. Such a great book for little ones, especially cat lovers and the illustrations are so fun.

Poor Cone Cat has had his life turned upside down after visiting the vet. Life in the cone gets Cone Cat feeling pretty out of the zone. The illustrations do a great job of showcasing the complex feelings of frustration, apathy, and sadness that the cat feels interacting with his home environment. However, the cone does have its perks too! (You will definetly laugh out loud.) This is a nice title for pet fans and not just cat lovers.

The book itself was eh, just okay to me, HOWEVER! I can really see this being a quick read that provides a valuable writing/ discussion prompt in classrooms : when was a time something changed and you thought it would be awful but it turned out to have some positives too? I’d re-word that but you get the idea. Very valuable prompt/ reflection and an easy silly cute story to demonstrate the concept for them with the prompt. I would use this book for that.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a sweet book that I know kids would get a kick out of. This cat is mischievous but quite creative with this new cone. Way to make a bad situation good.

This book had really good illustrations and I think would be a cute little physical book for my library. I think that my ebook got messed up a little bit because the pages seemed to be out of order.

This is a story about a cat named Jeremy who has to wear a cone for a short amount of time after coming home from the vet. At first, Jeremy hates the cone and does not feel like his old self, he finds things he did before challenging and this frustrates him. But then Jeremy starts to find new ways the cone can be extremely helpful to him and he loves it! This story shows how sometimes you have to take a challenging situation and find the positivity in it. It demonstrates the importance of finding a new perspective, to keep moving forward and to maintain openness, for things could turn out a lot better than expected! I love this story for children. It has a lot of important messages that are presented in a fun way, easy to understand. I think children would love this story and it can be easily adapted into a discussion or project. The illustrations were great too!

This book is so adorable, especially for anyone who is an animal lover. If you are a cat owner, you know the kind of mischief they can get into and the unique personalities they have. Jeremy is the epitome of the typical cat. Seeing him deal with the struggles of daily cat life with his new cone, is humorous. But it gets even better, when you see him overcome his struggles and turn them into cat wins. The drawings in this book are so cute and vibrant with color. I think this would be a great read-out-loud book for any elementary school class or elementary library.

A delightfully charming story about a cat who doesn't like the cone the veterinarian gives him; but learns to make the most of it.

I enjoyed the thought behind this book. It was very clever how the cat learned to use the cone to his advantage. However, I cannot give this book a high rating or recommend that it be purchased for the library where I work due to the semi-lewd illustrations. I understand that the illustrator was just illustrating what a cat does, but I personally didn't think there was any need for it. I. know that it would upset a lot of parents to find illustrations like this in a book their child was reading.

Jeremy is an adorable little cat who wakes up one day at the vet's. He discovers he has a HUGE cone around his head and he is not pleased. How can he function normally with that hideous contraption on him? He finds out it's not easy. He finally admits that he has been reduced to a smelly, clumsy Clone Cat... oh my!

Miraculously, Jeremey learns through trial and error that his cone may be a blessing not a hinderance. Cone Cat has superpowers that plain old Jeremey lacks. When he is sneaking some of Ava's leftover cereal, the milk and cereal poured not only into his mouth but into the cone too, allowing him to save some for later. How cool is that? The spider he previously had been stalking and now has gulped down isn't much of a catch... yuk! He can detect Ava's approach before she even leaves her room if he tilts his head at the right angle. Now that's a plus! His greatest victory is at Ava's birthday party when he disguises himself as a bowl. I wonder what that' s all about? You will love Jeremy's ingenuity and creativity on this one but no spoiler from me.

The illustrations are extremely well done. Jeremy's antics and expressions are pure... cat! If you own a cat or have access to one you will totally understand what I mean and they make you laugh. I thoroughly enjoyed "Cone Cat" and I highly recommend it.

Gives you view into what a cat would think about having cone around their neck. I think its really fun to imagine the benefits that a cat would get from having a cone.

Absolutely adorable! Jeremy wakes up at the vet to find a cone on his neck and his life has to change to adapt. Jeremy is sad at first, but then finds ways to use the cone to benefit him! (I don't think my cat has found much benefit to the cone when she has to wear it.) A cute picture book that is funny at any time, but would be especially great for kids when their beloved pet has to don the cone of shame.

Cone Cat wakes up at the vet to discover quite the change and it is NOT a welcome one. This new cone around his head makes life much more difficult. But can Jeremy find benefits to this new addition? Can he find the positive in this change?
I love that this book highlights the pros and cons of change and how being adaptable has it's advantages.

I really liked this book. It's a great book to read when your little one gets hurt and needs to see the bright side. It is also more than that. As an adult with a disability, it really moved me. I think it can be helpful for anyone whose life sudden;y changes with something that can inhibit their life. I loved this.

Poor Jeremy, our grumpy little cat on the cover, has to wet a cone when he comes home from the vet's. He decides to call himself "Cone Cat" because he can't get the cone off his head! This story is all about his adventures with the cone on his head.

This is a sweet, little story book for your little ones. It's cute, fun and an easy read. It has goofy shenanigans of our friend Jeremy trying to learn how to deal with the cone on his head.

There isn't much education in this book, but it was still a sweet story and it had a plot. At least it was fun and cute! It's something that I can see animal lovers flocking to.

I like the illustrations in this book. It's rough yet pretty all at the same time. It's simplistic yet super fitting for the story. For me, it made the story stand out and look absolutely great!

Overall, I think this book is a great addition to any picture book shelf.

Four out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and OwlKids for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

We enjoyed reading this together as a family! We've had a cat in the same situation and found all of Jeremy's reactions very relate able. The illustrations made Jeremy's adventures lots of fun and we especially loved the surprise at the end when he had a cone plus a cast. This book will be a great one to read to classrooms!

Poor Jeremy the cat, suddenly burdened with The Cone of Shame. No longer just Jeremy, now Cone Cat, Jeremy slowly adjusts to his new world view. After a few mishaps, Jeremy makes the most of the cone, only to miss it when it's finally removed. A sweet cat story with a positive message about opportunism and identity.

Cone Cat is a very cute and funny tale of Jeremy the cat, who has found himself stuck in a cone (for some unknown reason). Initially, the cone presents itself with problems and issues, making Jeremy one very upset kitty. Then, he starts to use the cone for his benefit, and fools the "tall human" into giving him a full scoop of ice cream. At the end, Jeremy has to part with his new friend, the cone...but it doesn't take him long to get himself into trouble again. I thought this was very entertaining and you really feel bad for Jeremy while he adjusts to having the cone on his head!

This book is quite timely as it takes an less than ideal circumstance and finds the positives in it. Cone Cat learns how to utilize the situation for his own gain. While it could be used in any circumstance, right now could be a tool to open up discussions about sheltering at home and COVID-19. Some children may be struggling right now and parents not knowing how to best approach it. What are the positives? It is a life skill that some of us even as adults need to remember and use.
The illustrations were cute and funny. The situations could be somewhat believable.
I would recommend this book for parents of young children, school & public libraries
