It's always nice to have a glimpse into upcoming releases. I like the format of these, but wish there were more books included. I'm also curious about how books get selected to be in this.
Always Fun
Kindle samples are fairly generous. But, they only become available once a book has been released. These "Buzz Books" collections are loaded with pre-release samples, which means you get a look at upcoming titles well before they are otherwise available. Some, but not all, of the books are on Netgalley, so if you're active on that site you will also have the option of requesting full ARC's for titles that catch your eye.
The overall appeal of the collection will vary according to your reading interests. For me this was a less rewarding group than has been the case in the past. But that may be because there were more thrillers and murder mysteries, and fewer interesting non-fiction choices, than usual. And Lethem is always fun.
So, since it's a freebie and loaded with books that are at least sample-worthy it's hard to pass up this nice opportunity to browse.
Buzz Books is such a resource! Sure, I follow publishers' announcements, hang out on bookstagram, and read "highly anticipated book" lists, but I still learn something new each time Buzz Books comes out.
Structurally, there's a list at the front, with titles, authors, publishers, and publication dates. (There's Fiction, with subheds for The Notables, Highly Anticipated, Emerging Voices; followed by Debut and Commercial Fiction. Nonfiction is divided into Politics & Current Events; Social Issues; Science & Technology; History & Crime; Essays, Criticism, & More; and Biography & Memoir.)
This giant, awesome list is followed by excerpts from 30 books.
Truly, I'd love to read the entire list of books mentioned in Buzz Books, much less all 30 that are excerpted. But as we all know, there are too many books and too little time. So, I'm especially grateful to Buzz Books for not only putting all these on my radar, but also providing excerpts so I can prioritize those that seem most interesting or compelling to me. I love reviewing books in my "wheelhouse" and getting to hype excellent forthcoming books - thank you to Buzz Books for helping me do both better!
This "Book" was ok, but I have to say that it didn’t really inspire me to read any of the books that was presented.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I love this opportunity to read excerpts of new works from cutting edge authors to help determine my upcoming reading experiences. It is a privilege!
Great review of books coming up, lots of different genres as always. I personally like the look of The Chanel Sisters and not an author I have read before.
This collection has quite an array of fiction and non-fiction titles by various authors from the household names to the debut titles and let's just say I was intrigued most by "Cher Ami and Major Whittlesey by Kathleen Rooney" because well, a story told from the viewpoint of a pigeon? Now that's something.
Thanks netgalley for the earc.
I love flipping through these guides. Some notable novels I’m looking forward to include:
The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett (prequel to The Pillars of the Earth!!!!!)
Fortune and Glory by Janet Evanovich
Trouble in Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand (last book in the trilogy!!!!)
The Book of Two Ways by Jodi Picoult
The Return by Nicholas Sparks
I love Buzz Books! It’s a great way to get a taste of books that are coming out later in the year. With 30 different books shared, everyone is sure to find one that is the right fit for their reading preference. My TBR list definitely got a little longer. Plus, you get to feel ‘in the know’ about upcoming new releases. Win-win!
I adore these little Buzz Books! I think they’re such great ways to try upcoming books. The romance version is always my favorite, but I love reading this edition too. I really liked the excerpt of Can’t Even in this one! Love that theres links to request the book straight from Netgalley. Highly highly recommend!
As an avid reader, I literally look forward to these excerpts and lists of upcoming books more than I can say. These sneak peeks always give me something to look forward to, especially when the world is falling apart. I cannot WAIT to read a few upcoming books!
I always look forward to these books. This one contains excerpts from some of the best books to be published during the fall and winter seasons. I am already compiling a list of books I hope to read and Book Buzz gives a tantalizing selection.
I really look forward to the previews of upcoming books. So many good books coming up! It helps decide which books I'd be best suited to review.
Buzz Books are always an immediate download for me! They are incredibly helpful when it comes to discovering new authors and I love being able to read excerpts of a wide variety of upcoming books.
I am always excited when a new edition of Buzz Books is released. I love seeing what books I will have to look forward to over the coming months. This edition provides a look at many of the titles that will be released this fall including those by Ken Follet, Marilynne Robinson, Phile Klay, Fredrick Backman, Elena Ferrante, Nick Hornby and Sue Miller among others. In addition to listings of titles by well known authors, there is a section on debut authors. Further, there are books that I will love reading for fun listed including new titles by Caz Frear, Robert Galbraith, Anthony Horowitz, Jodi Picoult, Alexander McCall Smith and more. There are also excerpts from some forthcoming titles.
While I read more fiction than non, this Buzz Books also lists many non-fiction titles. They feature everyone from Michael J. Fox to Elijah Cummins to Megan Rapinoe and more. The non-fiction listings are organized by topic as for example politics, Social Issues, Scinence and Technology, Biography and more.
Take a look at this title and start to dream about your next reads.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title in exchange for an honest review.
I added several books to my TBR list after viewing this! Love it! It is very helpful to see what books are coming up and the links are helpful too!
Another great issue of Buzz Books! I always enjoy reading this because it is very informative about new books coming out in the near future. I look forward to reading each issue.
While I appreciate these 'snippets' I do wish that more titles from the list were available. Also the titles are divided in a weird and rather vague way (emerging voices, commercial...) -
Holy cow!! Fall and winter can't get here fast enough! There are so many awesome books coming out then! I requested way too many from here and then wrote the rest down to look for later! What a great way to get a taste of what is coming up in books! Run and grab this wonderful collection of new books you are going to want to request just like me!
I just love these Buzz Books. They are so much fun getting a sneak peek at upcoming books, and books I have been waiting to read since I first heard of them!
I am looking forward to getting ARCs of many of these books!
