Thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Pugtato Finds a Thing is an imaginative and adorable tale about a pugtato that finds a shiny object in the dirt where it was planted. It goes to all the vegetable themed animals in the garden asking them what the magical object is. The artwork is something magical to behold, I think it'd be cute to see more of Pugtato's adventures. I hope the author comes out with more books.
Very cute! I'd recommend this to children and the children at heart.

This is adorable. I love Pugtato and all of his friends. Silly concepts are so great in kids books and the art is done wonderfully to portray the silly but still appealing aspect.

Oh my goodness! Pugtato is absolutely the cutest little veggie-animal ever. The writing was clever and the rhymes flowed easily. Loved all the little animal-veggie combos especially brussel-snouts and crocolli. The illustrations were also great. Kids will really get a kick out of this little book! I know mine did!
I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book is absolutely fantastic! The animal and veggie combination characters are perfect and the rhyming felt very Seuss-ish. I read this book to my 5 year old and he loved it (as did I). We loved the illustrations and the message in the story. We're hoping Pugtato will turn into a series as this story was delightfun!

This picture book was fantastic it really was a clever twist and made me laugh as vegetables and animals are combined for example, Pug and Potato become Pugtato!
We see how a discovery leads Pugtato to chatting to his friends and trying to solve the puzzle and teaches kids the importance of friendship.
Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

The cover alone made me want to check out Pugtato Finds a Thing. Such a fun, cute read with good illustrations. Kids and adults will enjoy this book.
I'd definitely recommend this book to someone.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and Zondervan for allowing me to read the book in exchange for my review.

Pugtato Finds a Thing was absolutely wonderful. First, the illustrations are great. They were vivid and not dull. Secondly, I loved Pugtato’s manners. Reading to my child, I was able to explain how asking and questioning kindly can get you the answers you need.
This was a great book, and my 4 and 2 year old both approve. I loved the uniqueness of the character and give this 5 stars. Thank you NetGalley and Zonderkidz for the eARC in exchange for the honest review.

This is cute, imaginary tale about some punny garden animals. The rhyming storyline was fun and heartwarming. I enjoyed Pugtato’s curiosity but wished he had more belief in himself. The line “He may not feel smart” instantly made me feel so sad for this lovable character! If Pugtato had more of a growth mindset I would have highly recommended this book for use in an elementary classroom.

I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK!!! I read it to my mom and she said she MUST have it for her future grandchildren! Haha. Seriously, EVERYONE needs to read this book. It's funny, full of bright colors, and teaches about animals and vegetables. But most of all, Pugtato teaches us about helping each other out when someone has a question and always being there for your "spuddies."
This book is filled with vegetables that are made into animals, like Pugtato, Collieflower, Croccoli, and so many more! Pugtato finds something as he is digging in the garden and asks each of his friends what it is. Everyone thinks it is something different, but who will be right? The illustrations in this book are wonderful and I will 100% be reading this during some storytimes after it is published!

A cute book full of puns about a little pugtato that finds a mysterious object, and recruits some friends to help him identify it. The illustrations are sweet, and the text springy. The big reveal about the "thing" was a little anti-climatic but I think children would enjoy it all the same.

Very cute picture book featuring a pugtato, who is some sort of potato-pug hybrid. Quirky but it works! Pugtato lives in a garden with other vegetable-animal hybrids like Purrrsnip and tomatoad. One day while digging around Pugtato finds a swirly purple thing in the dirt. Pugtato takes the thing around to their garden friends to see if they know what it is. They have various ideas...nest warmer, scratcher, chew toy... but Pugtato knows that's not what the thing is.
My kids enjoyed this one. The text was rhyming and the illustrations were whimsical and colorful. A great little story about seeking out the truth.

Five stars for this – the work in inventing all the peculiar animals of this world, and in making the narrative a very pleasant rhyme, all looks effortless. It's a really fine young reader with a great sense of fun.

I saw this cover and just had to read it because I have a pug! I’m so glad I did too cus it’s a cute story. Pugtato goes on adventure with his veggie friends when he discovers a strange object in his garden. My kids & I enjoyed this, it’s an easy read and entertaining. Thank you to Zonderkidz, Sophie Corrigan, and NetGalley for this ARC.

Pugtato Finds a Thing. What is it? They don't know, so they go and ask their friends.
This book has all the food-animal puns and made me giggle. I imagine that reading it out loud will be much fun. The story is short and sweet, and the illustration are adorable and work perfectly with the text.
If this should become a series, I would like to read on. While the length of this one was perfect for the plot, I could see reading myself many more of these episodes.

This is such a sweet and funny book. Pugtato finds a shiny thing and goes to all his friends to see if they know what it’s for. This book is full of puns and cute illustrations.

"Pugtato Finds A Thing" by Zondervan is follows along with the main character Pugtato as he tries to figure out what exactly is this mystery item that he's found. Pugtato is exactly what he sounds like, a cross between a potato and a pug dog. As Pugtato goes on his adventures, he meets other similar styled characters that are all hybrids between animals and vegetables and fruits.
The story was pretty enjoyable, but at times was difficult to read. In some situations, the thing is only identified as "Thing" while in others the book says "The Thing." This was a little confusing when reading aloud. Also, the word choice or phrasing in some parts was a little more complicated than was necessary. Words like befuddled, gnawing and more might be lost on younger readers.
As an adult, I could appreciate these characters with my favorites being the Cowbbage and the Brusslesnouts. I smirked when I saw those pages and enjoyed the story more because of these creative creatures. All that being said, it was a difficult book to read aloud and it wasn't necessarily written at a level for younger children which I would have preferred.

I was instantly charmed by the creative character names in this funny, creative and beautifully illustrated book.
Meet Pugato as he asks his friends: Tweetrood, Tomatoad, Purrsnip and Carrat to name a few, to help him figure out what to do with his newly found treasure. The main message of this story is certainly that reaching out for help and keeping well-wishing friends around you are very important - a message I would certainly love to pass on to children.
Although the story is very short, parents will have an opportunity to ask kids to decipher the puzzle of each character name. Kids will also enjoy the illustrations which show positive and smiling vegetable-animals.

I enjoyed the color palette the illustrator chose throughout this book. The story itself is ok. It's cute and quirky, but in general I think "follow your heart" stories may or may not give our children the wrong impression about life. Following your heart and lead you in to some sticky situations. But overall this is a cute and quirky children's book.

I am sad, legit sad, that I couldn't like this picture book and found it to be a little too dull and something which lacks appeal.
The whole book looks a little gloomy, the artstyle is less appealing (this may be due to my lack of knowledge regarding the artists and their artstyle) and the story sequence a bit too dragging to hold the attention of children.
I guess the purpose of this picture book is to educate the kids about different types of vegetables and animals through the story of a potato which goes on visiting different plants and animals in its quest to know about a thing it came across. I appreciate the concept but this picture book would not be my first or the only choice amongst a stack of picture books.
Thanks #NetGalley for the book.
