I enjoyed this story with all the characters within. The main characters were Bethea Glanville and Camden Kennedy.
Bethea Glanville is a young woman that is having her first season. While at a ball her sister get her feet step on and she help her sister to the retiring room. While there she hoping to avoid a guy that want to dance with her. Her sister feet are quite a bit bruised and she doesn't want to walk to far. So she decides to see if there might be another way to get her sister home and not seen by the man that dance on her toes. While looking for a way out someone tries the door that she in the room. So she decides to hide. But when they leave she waits a while and decided to leave. But she not so lucky they find her.
Camden Kennedy is a British spy and he on a mission. He needs to catch a man that is against the British. He and his man are waiting on the road for a stage coach to come by. He hoping it will be the man they are looking for. But when the a coach does appear he surprised to see it was the right coach and is very surprised to see that there is a lady with the guy. He knows this young lady and she would not go with this man. Now he has to save her too.
This was a fun story to read. It had action, adventure, suspense snd drama throughout. It had a few giggles within.

Another Great book by Collette Cameron! I love how she makes you part of the book by getting me emotionally involved with her characters. Reason why she is one of my favorite authors!

There isn't much to say about this book. A short novella it is sweet and the plot moves at a fast clip.
The overthrow of the king wraps up really fast and then we have insta-love between Bethea and Camden.
It is a good book for a quick light read.
This was a lot shorter than I expected it to be so I wasn't expecting the amount of story Collette Cameron was able to pack into the pages. I still felt like I read somewhat of a full length book. I did skip a good chunk (about 20%) of the beginning because I didn't care much for the set up of the story, I wanted to get right to the build up of their relationship. Even though I skipped that chunk of the book, I was still able to get a good understanding of the plot and main conflict. Due to it being short, there were scenes that I felt were rushed. It made me wish there were an extra 50-100 pages for those scenes, and some characters, to be fleshed out more.
I love a good romance, especially when it is in the Highlands. I am not going to give anything except that this is a page-turner for a romance lover.
Treason, espionage, kidnapping, and romance are all a part of Collette Cameron's Heart of a Series. This is the seventh book in this series. Not only do we get a new tale, but also get to revisit with characters from previous books in the series. Bethea Glanville and her sister, Branwen begged their guardian to let them partake in Edinburgh society. After all, they wish to find husbands. Unfortunately for Bethea, she has attracted a very unwanted suitor and tries to avoid him at all costs. Fortunately for her, Camden Kennedy has returned. They felt a mutual attraction the last time they met. But why he is at this ball? Just what is going on in their host's office? Will Bethea and Camden find what their mutual attraction is all about. Will all the traitors be caught? A nice addition to this series. It is so lovely when secondary characters from other books get to have their own stories. Ms. Cameron gives us a peek into the next book in the series. It's Branwen's turn next!
What an exhilarating story that happened over a few days. I absolutely loved Bethea and Camden. They were wonderful characters. Bethea is wise, loyal, very loving, kind and thoughtful. But she was no dummy. She was astute and knew what was what and who was who. Camden is a brave sweetheart. He worked for the Crown as an agent but when dealing with Bethea he was considerate, patient, thoughtful and kind. Camden was working on an assignment when Bethea was accidentally dragged into the mission. It was against her will. But in the end, all the villains were caught and true love prevailed. A very exciting read. A real page turner. I just wished it did not go by so quickly and wished there was more to the story.
This is a good one! It is the story of Camden and Bethea. Bethea is having her first taste of high society when she accidentally overhears some information that reveals a plot to overthrow the King. Unfortunately, discovering secret this leads to her kidnapping and subsequent rescue by Camden. Although Bethea is now safe from danger, her reputation is ruined. As a result of this, Bethea and Camden are forced into a marriage of convenience. Can they make this marriage work and find happy ever after? The journey of these two characters is exciting, suspenseful, and a little bit spicy. As always, this author writes a very memorable read.
A short, straightforward historical romance, with a spy plot and a marriage of convenience.
Bethea Glanville and her sister are determined to enjoy the Edinburgh Season. When trying to escape a lecherous suitor at his own ball, Bethea stumbles across a treasonous plot to overthrow the King, and is kidnapped for her trouble.
Camden Kennedy is cousin to Keane, Bethea’s guardian, and is employed as a spy trying to uncover the traitors and proof of their guilt. He is also attracted to Bethea. When he manages to rescue her from her captors, he has to protect her from the band of mercenaries helping him, and save her reputation, so they are forces to marry each other.
Bethea is determined on an annulment, as she doesn’t want to entrap Cameron, but their natural attraction slowly but surely, leads them to taking a chance on each other, and to a satisfying HEA.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a short historical romance with an intriguing hero and a dating heroine. Bethea is at a ball trying desperately to avoid a suitor when she overhears a plot between two traitors. They catch and kidnap her. Camden rescues her and marries her in order to save her from a lecherous Earl. While the plot is intriguing and adventures, I was not taken with the characters. They seem a bit too bland for Highlander romance.
A cute sweet romance. Short sweet and kind of heroic! Camden is working secretly undercover to apprehend those planning on over turning the king. Bethea is a young lady attending a ball and accidentally stumbles into a room with a secret conversation of two men trying to plot the overthrowing of the king. When the two men happen upon her, one kidnaps her and is going to force her to marry him! But, Camden rescues her and everything changes from that point on! Cute and a great romance! Definitely recommend!!
What a nice story! This was a slightly spicy story about a debutant who is trying to help her sister, but instead gets kidnapped by some very bad men who turn out to be traitors. She ends up married to a family friend to save her reputation. The hero is a spy who is looking for enemies to turn over to his spymaster. The heroine definitely feels she doesn't belong in society, but is enduring a season for her sister's sake. There is a lot of famy love and support in this tale of love. There is a lot of intrigue and not being sure of who you can trust, because those that are being trusted, end up being the dishonorable. This was a quick read with the age gap not being specified. I think the heroine was 21 and the hero older than 28. So, the characters are a little more equal in age. The characters are very believable and show growing maturity. This was a well written, but shorter story. The grammar and spelling did not have any errors. There was a continuous thread interwoven through the book that tied the stories together and there were no loose endings. I highly recommend this book, 5 stars
ONE MAGNIFICENT ADVENTURE!!!
Sensational! Collette just blew me away, ringing my bell and leaving me awed, laying out this wonderfully composed work of art, with this impressive storyline and gripping plot, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. The dynamics and presentation in layer upon layer that you peel back with each page your drawn into this web so deep until everything else ceases to exist. Anarchy, escapades and havoc run amuck, kicking this gem into a churning vortex, blasting it into a frenzy with a life-altering realization. Sparks fly as drama, intrigue, turmoil, misgivings, underlying threats, mounting suspense and electrifying situations along with a boatload of trouble while dodging calamity, you have one block busting adventure. Meting out intense, well rounded scenario's, ramping up the exuberance and adrenaline with such intensity and skill, melding this gem together flawlessly. The attraction and chemistry sizzles through the pages, alluring and mesmerizing, exposing a deep connection and amplifying affection, binding them to one another perfectly. Observing the instant realization and charged atmosphere, along with a bevy of shocking twists and stunning turns, testing our characters in ways they could have never imagined. The characters are authentic, genuine and realistic with depth and qualities that blend into amazing personalities. The scenes are so colorfully detailed and descriptive it paints a thrilling backdrop for one mind-blowing culmination. Remarkable job Collette, thanks for sharing this little fella with us.
Edinburgh, Scotland 1721
"Odin's gnarly teeth." Bethea spotted that odious Montieth making his way toward her and she could only get away as fast as possible. He did his best to corner her and she made her way to her guardian Keane, the Duke of Roxdale and his wife Marjorie.
Camden Kennedy, Keane's cousin saw Montieth trying to grab on to Bethea and his blood boiled. In truth he was only at the ball to keep his eye a target for the crown and watch for him to see who he was meeting.
Unfortunately Bethea overhears a conversation by two traitors, Montieth being one and they catch her listening and kidnap her! Luckily Camden and his men were waiting to capture the traitors and as one thing leads to another, he claims they are to wed. What?
"Camden was dashing, possessed the physique a Roman god might envy, and was handsome in the rugged way many Highlanders were." Oh yes, one braw Scot!
The journey begins with many twist and turns, but so exciting! As always Collette has given us another memorable Highland tale with her wonderful wit and engaging characters I can never get enough of!! Love it
I have to confess that this is the first book in the series ‘Heart of a Scot’ that I had read and yet I found it easy to follow the storyline.
Bethea Glanville was set to join Edinburgh’s High Society but she finds herself, in the middle of a plot to overthrow the king. When she is abductor, Camden Kennedy is there to save her but in doing so, finds that he must marry her to protect her name and provide safety against those who threaten her life. As the couple find themselves, drawn into this mission, it becomes apparent that neither wants to leave the marriage.
I enjoyed the storyline, finding myself quickly immersed in the action. Yet I did wonder if the book could have gone for longer, with greater development of the romance. I did enjoy the two main characters, finding Camden to be an honourable man, demonstrating respect for Bethea. She is also a strong and determined character, who showed maturity in such difficult circumstances. The inclusion of family members added greatly to the depth of the story. Having only read the one book, I did still have a few questions about some of the history behind each of the main characters. Otherwise, an entertaining read and another writer for me to follow.

To Marry a Highland Marauder by Collette Cameron is a historical romance, part of the Heart of a Scot series, wherein we revisit Keane Buchanan, Earl of Roxdale, primarily one of his foster daughters, Bethea. Bethea is in attendance at a ball in Edinburgh, he guardian having loosened the strings with which he protected his wards, Bethea and her sister, Branwen. For both girls, the glitter has already worn thin. Having accompanied her sister to the retiring room after a disconcerting incident, Bethea is seeking a subtle way to get out of the house when she inadvertently comes upon the repulsive Lord Montieth and another guest doing some underhanded business and ends up getting herself kidnapped. Cameron, unbeknownst to many, is acting as a spy for the English king, not out of any great love for the English but to try and prevent another war, is waiting with his men outside the castle in order to follow the carriage they know will carry the traitor. When it comes and they capture it, they discover Bethea. Circumstances are such that in order to save her from ruin, she is after all, the ward of his cousin; he introduces her as his betrothed.
This is a terrific series and this was a good book. The story was well-plotted and interesting. Subterfuge generally is if done decently and this was. Of course, there are multiple bad guys and keeping everyone safe is always a challenge. Cameron is a hearty Scottish warrior with high ideals and a caring heart. Bethea (and many others) had always had a tendre for him, but refuses to ruin his life to save herself from ruin. Cameron puts it together nicely, especially the disillusionment of society, which I am certain happened more often than we hear. The characters Cameron writes are always so likeable that it is a joy to read her books. There is nothing is disturb the flow like dishonorable behavior, which is absent her except from the villains. I recommend this book as a pleasurable read.

To Marry a Highland Marauder by Collette Cameron is book 7 in the Heart of a Scot Series. This is the story of Bethea Glanville and Camden Kennedy. This is the first book I have read in this series, so for me it was a standalone book. Bethea was all set to enjoy the society on going entertainment when she overhears some danger information to take over the King. Which of course then leads her to be in danger that ends up leading her to Camden who is a agent for the Crown. Camden keeps her safe but at the cost of her reputation which then leads them to a marriage of Convenience which of course is never convenient...especially when their feelings become involved. Enjoyed this book and hope to read more from this author.
Bethea Glanville is enduring another social event, hoping to finally meet the man of her dreams. He is in attendance, but why? Camden is on a mission, not to find a bride, but to protect England from a traitor. When Bethea inadvertently interrupts a meeting between the Earl of Montieth and his associate, she becomes a liability to their cause.
Camden is attempting to solve a mystery for the Crown. He never believed it would entangle Bethea and quite possibly cause her death. As he searches for and rescues Miss Glanville, his heart comes to the realization that one of his searches is over. As they solve the mystery, they may find that their love will last a lifetime.
Although this novel has spies, treason, suspense, and kidnapping, there is also the romance between Bethea Glanville and Camden Kennedy, an operative working for the King. Bethea and her sister desperately longed for their opportunity to enjoy the elegance of society and the opportunity to find love matches, but things were not turning out the way they thought. Bethea has attracted the unwelcome attentions of a despicable man, whilst the younger Branwen discovers that dancing with awkward clods can be a disaster. Rescuing Branwen when events go wrong, ultimately results in Bethea being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and she overhears conspirators discussing their treasonous plot. Being part of society definitely did not include being konked on the head or kidnapped. Camden has had his eye on Bethea for some time, but his work as an operative for the Crown precludes him from taking a chance on love. However, when he discovers that Bethea has inadvertently wound up in the middle of his assignment, he has no choice but to rescue her. Faced with the irrefutable fact that she is truly ruined, Camden has to make some quick decisions and discovers that they are not as difficult to make as he would have thought. I loved both Camden and Bethea, Camden for his protectiveness of Bethea whilst at the same time respecting her opinion and treating her as an equal in an age where women had few rights. Bethea, on the other hand, recognises the difference between attraction and love, and one can only respect the fact that she took time weighing up his decision. Bethea's extended family is loving and protective, and one can only hope we get to read Bryston's story as although he barely opened his mouth, his actions intrigue one and made me smile. The plot is interesting and well written and the story is a standalone that comes to a happy close. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
All Bethea Glanville wanted was to enjoy Edinburgh’s High Society but she accidentally uncovers a plot to overthrow the king and gets abducted by the conspirators. She’s rescued by her guardian’s rakehell cousin, Camden Kennedy. Now stuck with the infuriatingly attractive Scot and his band of dangerous mercenaries, the only way to salvage her reputation and guard her virtue is to announce her betrothal…to Camden. As a covert agent for the Crown, Camden has assumed many identities. The one title he never expected to have? Husband. But that was before his mission to catch a spy led him to Bethea. A marriage of convenience is the best protection he can offer her.
The seventh book in this delightful series once again it could be read on its own but both Camden & Bethea have appeared in earlier books. Fast paced, strong characters all made for an engrossing read, which I read in a sitting & I loved every page
