This is a children's book that is good for Pre-K age kids. I really love children's book that shows kids everyone is different and some kids has disabilities. I will be buying this book to take to my kids EC (Special Needs) Classrooms. I think it will also show them that it is ok to be different. I really love this book. Their is bible sayings in this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book is schedule to come out August 4-2020.

The illustrations for this book are perfect! I would love to gift this to a family and I can already think of more than one that would treasure reading this picture book to their children. Though we might see the differences between each other, the turning point came with this line: "I look all around me and what do I see? So many kids not so different to me." Honing in on the ways we have been made that are similar to each other, was a beautiful turning moment and I anticipate it will resonate for other readers too.

I received a digital arc from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

If you are a religious person, I would definitely recommend this book for your children! I wanted to read and review it because it seemed really cute and the cover art was beautiful, but I didn't realize it went at it from a religious angle. I have no issue with it but it isn't for everyone.

This book is all about how wonderful the differences are and how they should be embraced, but we are all still the same in many ways. I love the emphasis on how our differences should be celebrated and embraced, as this is something many kids have a hard time learning. This book cites Bible verses at the beginning and end and includes a discussion guide for parents and teachers.

The art is definitely my favorite part! It's great to see so much diversity in a children's book.

I enjoyed this book because it is a simple story that shows kids that yes, everyone is different, but we also have similarities and are all special! The illustrations are great in this book and I think it would be a perfect bedtime story!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced digital copy of this book!

Cute illustrations, good rhythm, great message! Shows ways kids are different but also the same....all of which leads to special!

In these days when "different" is often reason for discrimination this book shows children that 'different' is actually a reason for celebration.

A lovely book with gorgeous illustrations that features a wide variety of children, including ones with disabilities. Sadly, the religious component limits the scope of the story and ultimately takes away from the message by being untentionally exclusionary. People deserve respect, equality and rights no matter in what god a person believes in or how we came to be. Hinging a person's rights on the fact that a god made us this way is limiting, in my opinion.
Sadly, I think that the religious angle muddles the message and weakens the impact but it might work for other readers.
This book is for pre-school children of (heavily) Christian families.

This is a wonderful little book for young children. The story is sweet and engaging. The illustrations are bright, beautiful and every child will find someone in the pages that they identify with. I highly recommend this book for every family library. It will also be a blessing for every kid's church and classroom!

A copy of this book was made available to me through netgalley. These opinions are my honest review.

As a teacher and mom, I love this book! It shows that although people are different in many ways (skin color, eye color, abilities), we are all the same inside. I love that this book represented diverse groups of children including children with service animals and children in wheelchairs. I will be purchasing this book for my children and for gifts for other families.

"Different Like Me" by Xochitl Dixon is a wonderful story about how every person is different and people should embrace and celebrate that diversity. The story does have religious snippets including a few verses from the bible in the beginning and at the end of the book, but it does not impact the story or how it can be read in non-religious families. The colors and pictures are wonderful and truly complement the beautiful storyline. When we read it to our children, the little ones were engaged and followed along. There are even questions at the end of the book to assist with leading a guided discussion of the content. Overall, this was a wonderful story with a great message for all family members, young and old alike!

A great story!

Thank you to the publisher for giving me a free copy!

It's stories like this that make a difference in the world! If I ever have a kid I will have my kids read stories like these! Not only is it important to teach your kid that racism is bad in any way, shape or form. It's important that every kid with a dissability, a different ethnicity, different hair, etc etc. Is just a kid like you.

Everyone is equal and everyone should be treated equally. I think this book is such an important book nowadays and I love how it's not just about race in this book but it also includes different dissabilities.

I loved this! It was such a quick read since it's a children's book but that doesn't make me love it less. The art style was also super cute hehe.

Definitely a good one !

If you are of the Christian faith, this one is a good picture book for your kiddos. It begins and ends with a Bible verse and also contains special discussion questions to spark deep conversations with your little ones. In between those quotes, this book teaches kids that different may not be so different after all. We all look different. Some of us move, communicate, and partake in life in different ways, but we all feel the same things. Being different makes us all special, and by looking past some of our differences, we can understan each other a little better.

This one is out in August, so keep an eye out for it. It’s great for bedtime, or a good way to start the day, especially if you want to ask some of those questions to give your kids something to think about throughout the day.

I received an electronic ARC from Our Daily Bread Publishing through NetGalley.
The narrating child tells readers how the children they see are different from them and from each other. Then a realization hits and they start to share how everyone is alike and yet different and special.
Told in rhyme with vividly colorful illustrations.
Simple to follow for younger readers and terrific family read to share about everyone being unique and yet similar in so many ways.

I think this book is so well written. The pictures are cute and there is a variety of different children shown. It is a very simple message, but it is conveyed very well. I also appreciate the little questions in the back it makes it a very easy Sunday school lesson. It is a well written story that has good illustrations and a very good message. I can not wait to be able to share it with my students in the future.

I was blessed with the chance to read and advanced readers copy of "Different Like Me" written by Xochitl Dixon. This is a wonderful book. The premise is to verbalize to children that yes, there are differences between everyone, this is what makes us unique and special. Hand in hand with our differences are the ways in which we are all alike. The illustrations were beautiful and subtly shared all the wonders of different children. I plan to add this book to my collection to share with both my children and my students

I LOVE the diversity embraced in this book! From service dogs, to ASL, to people with handicaps and all different cultures. This book is beautifully written and illustrated. A great book to spark a conversation with children about people who are "different."
