Slow, delicious burn….

This was Shot and Presley’s story and it was everything I wanted in their story! A slow, delicious burn, for sure. A tantalizing look at MC life. Great characters, intriguing suspense, a steamy romance. Yeah, this was a great, great story… If you’ve read this series than Presley and Shot aren’t new to you. While their romance can be read as a standalone the challenges they faced, especially with family, would be even clearer if you knew all the background. Believe me, you don’t want to miss one little nuance…

Presley was independent, dangerously so at times, once again on the sidelines as she tried to figure out her place in her new family. Shot proved to be a great bridge to family, as well as a lethal protector and (surprisingly) sweet companion… Yeah, that knocked Presley’s (and mine) socks off as his stoic exterior melted under Presley’s calm, quiet presence. He craved her, just as she craved him, and their descent into love, spurred by a favour or two, was full of spicy dialogue and deadly suspense…

I don’t want this series to end. Ever. The author must continue on, finding stories for everyone in these stories. Top, maybe? But really, author’s choice… Please….

Sandy M’s review of Blacklisted (Loveless, Texas, Book 3) by Jay Crownover
Contemporary Romance published by Forever 27 Oct 20

I’m really bummed there aren’t any more Lawton siblings so this series by Jay Crownover can continue. We got one extra book with the appearance of a sister the main characters never knew about, which is Presley Baskin, the heroine of this story. That she’s paired up with Shot Caldwell, president of the Sons of Sorrow motorcycle club, her exact opposite in every way, makes this book all the more intriguing.

After discovering her half siblings, Presley has moved to Loveless but still tries to keep her distance from them. They’re having none of that, however. They know family means everything, especially after surviving their cruel and corrupt father. So when Kody calls Presley with an emergency to help a friend of hers, Presley has no idea how much more her life is about to change, despite already having to hide away from a former best friend who wants her dead.

Shot is the one she’s called in to help – he’s down after an ambush in Kody’s bar. Though Presley is a medical examiner, she goes all in to make sure the scary, sexy biker pulls through. Months later they are still thinking about each other, and despite Shot’s determination to pay his debt to her and keep his distance, there’s something about the doctor that won’t let him stay away. Keeping her safe becomes his number one priority.

Presley is closed-off innocence compared to Shot’s dangerous outlaw ways. They bring out the best in each other, and watching them grow closer, as they toss out their own rules for relationships, is intense and the best part of the story. Especially when Shot ignores threats from Presley’s older brothers to leave little sister alone. No one will come between them – even when things go south during their attempt to nab the aforementioned evil best friend. Their chemistry and trust in one another slowly builds, and you just know they belong together. Thus, rooting for them is no hardship whatsoever.

I’m sorry to see the end of this series, but that only means a new series, hopefully, will be forthcoming as soon as possible. I will be following Ms. Crownover very closely to see what that will be and when I can get my hands on that next book.

Ever since Justified, I have been curious about a certain lawless biker side character. I was more than intrigued to get my hands on his book especially when he was paired with a woman who couldn't be more opposite. This made for a fabulous culmination to a strong series.

Blacklisted is the fourth entry, counting the novella, and the third book in the Loveless, Texas series. It doesn't make a good place to jump in as the ongoing suspense thread and the build of the circle of characters was introduced earlier in the series.

Dr. Presley Baskin's clinical, ordered world is now in upheaval. Her very life is at stake with her psycho former best friend out to take everything she has in life and then kill her. Her new-found family, the Lawton siblings, want to protect her and keep her close, but she's used to being alone and holds them at arms' length afraid to let them inside her high walls that keep her from getting hurt. But, there is one person who won't stay firmly placed outside her walls. She saved Shot Caldwell's life and now the motorcycle club president plans to stick around until he returns the favor. If only the man didn't rouse her libido along with all her emotions. And, then he has the gall to see right into her soul and call her on the way she's been hiding from life and not just from the crazy woman trying to get at her.

Shot has no idea what to do with the interest he feels in the cool, collected medical examiner who saved his life. She doesn't fit into his world nor he into hers. She works for the law that he tends to break on a fairly frequent basis. But, there is something about Presley that sets her apart and draws her to him. Shot is the first to realize that, in their own ways, they don't fit in with those around them. And, then the danger comes close and Shot realizes he isn't planning on going anywhere and he will teach this fellow loaner that it's okay to accept help and let other people get close- it's okay to live and love...

I'm not sure that I formed any expectations about where Shot and Presley's story would go. First of all, I didn't know either of them well enough since they were minor characters in the earlier books and secondly, the focus was more on the suspense and the shocking reveals about how Presley comes to be related to the Lawtons. I did get that they came from two very different walks of life with MC president and crime lab ME not a match up I've ever seen. For those wondering, this is not a biker romance nor is it a full-blown romantic suspense. It touches the edges of both genres, but is at heart, a small town contemporary romance.

I found their romance different in tone from the earlier ones for Presley's siblings. All those were stormy, dramatic romances with the pairs wrestling against issues between them and particularly Kody's. I was expecting something of the same even if the way they came together is different. But, instead, this pair were meeting as adults in their prime and carrying some maturity on them after what they'd been through in their pasts. They communicated and hashed things out. Oh, there were vulnerabilities and differences of opinion to be worked through including how people like them could work. The drama came from outside them and that offered plenty of conflict to keep this story pacing along. Pres and Shot were slowburn and then combustible. I loved the way they brought out the best in each other and saw the best in each other, too.

Blacklisted wrapped everything up for the series and brought everything to a fabulous close. I look forward to seeing what comes next from the author, but in the meantime, I will turn my eye back to her older series that I've heard mentioned before. Those who enjoy spicy contemporary romance with a large dollop of suspense and family should give this series a go.

This is book three in the Loveless, Texas series and I adored it. It is the story of Dr. Presley Baskin who was introduced as the surprise half-sibling to the Lawton family. When her new found sister calls her and needs her medical help, she risks everything to save the life of local bad boy and MC President Shot Caldwell. Presley’s mind tells her to stay away from Shot, but her heart opens to him. She also finds him pretty sexy. Shot meanwhile cannot understand his growing attraction and his need to keep her safe. With a murderess stalker on her hands, Presley can use all of the help she can get. This is a steamy romance with boatloads of passion and suspense.

I was provided a copy of this book by NetGalley for an honest review.

This was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it! It was a fantastic blend of love, mystery and suspense.
The good girl, Dr. Presley Baskin is being framed by her former best friend for a crime she didn’t commit. She loses her job and as more suspicion mounts about how far her former friend has gone to get her out of the picture, she decides to take matters into her own hands to draw the woman out. In the midst of the craziness, the good doctor is called to the scene of an accident where she meets and ultimately saves the life of resident bad boy and MC club president, Shot.
After being saved, Shot feels a connection to Presley and becomes fiercely protective. The pair have incredible chemistry and I love how the author shows the not only the hard sides of these characters but also the emotional sides.
I can’t wait read more from this author, this was a great read!

Jay Crownover skillfully blends emotion, suspense and sensuality in a high-octane contemporary romance that is impossible to put down: Blacklisted.

Life has been kicking Dr Presley Baskin in the guts lately. Having dedicated herself entirely to caring for her mother who had been suffering from ill health, Presley had been left bereft and broken-hearted when her mom had sadly passed away. But worse was to come for the crestfallen medic. As if coping with the death of a parent wasn’t bad enough, Presley had learnt that her best friend was a manipulative and scheming backstabber who tried to frame her for a crime she didn’t commit who is now out to get her – and she also learns that she has a family she didn’t know anything about. Presley just wants to be left alone, but saying no to the Lawtons from Loveless, Texas proves easier said than done – which is why when her half sister Kody calls her in the middle of the night to come and patch up a biker at her club who has been shot, she doesn’t hesitate. Even if this decision to help her sister out is going to have serious consequences and throw her already chaotic world into further disarray!

Palmer ‘Shot’ Caldwell does not like owing anyone anything. The biker lives life on the wild side and still remembers the lessons his father had taught him which is to never be in debt to anybody – especially to a beautiful loner he simply cannot shake out of his mind. As the founder of the local branch of the Sons of Sorrow Club, Shot always pays back his debts – regardless of how much it pains him – which is why he has been spending the last couple of weeks on his motorbike parked in front of Presley’s apartment building. But Presley seems to never leave her apartment nor does she ever have anyone visit. What is going on with the enigmatic Presley? Why is she keeping the whole world at bay? Just when Shot thinks that Presley is a recluse with an aversion to open spaces, she steps out of her apartment and tells him to leave her alone – only to have a shower of bullets rain down upon her head!

Someone is out to get Presley and Shot vows to move heaven and earth to find out who is stalking her and to keep her safe. Thrust into close proximity by fate and united by a passion that cannot be denied, Presley and Shot’s feelings for one another quickly intensify. But will they take a chance on love? Or will they let old fears and past mistakes condemn them to a lifetime of loneliness?

A dramatic and emotional rollercoaster ride, Jay Crownover’s Blacklisted is a red-hot page-turner contemporary romance readers will love. A brilliant romance about two lost and flawed souls coming together in the most unlikely of ways, Blacklisted is a spellbinding tale richly imbued with humor, pathos, intrigue and sensuality that touches the heart and will make readers laugh out loud. Presley is an intelligent, resilient and spirited heroine readers will fall in love with and Shot is one charming, brave and charismatic hero who is impossible to resist.

A stellar Texan-set contemporary romance, Jay Crownover’s Blacklisted is another winner by this talented storyteller!

5 Stars

The conclusion to the Loveless, Texas series is absolutely phenomenal! Full of suspense, passion and a couple that seems to be about as opposite as can be. Shot and Presley don’t appear to have anything in common, but when life, and Kody, throws them together lines get crossed. I loved every bit of this story. The protectiveness Shot feels towards Presley shows us a side to him we haven’t seen before this book. Presley has been through so much and still feels a bit like an outsider, used to being alone, but spending time with Shot, and her family, is changing her. Both of these characters grow so much throughout this story in the sweetest ways. Don’t be fooled though, this story is full of some serious heat and the suspense gets more intense as the story continues. I am sorry to see the end of the Loveless series, but I know I will revisit it many more times!

4.5
Blacklisted is the third and last book in the Loveless, TX series by Jay Crownover. I've enjoyed this series and have been waiting to learn more about the sexy, biker, Shot. He lived up to all my expectations when he met and fell for Presley, the Lawton's half-sister. They are all about family and they protect what's theirs. And now Presley has Shot to protect her too. There's still danger out there and it's looking for them all. In the midst of the suspense, there's a lot of family love, laughs and sexiness. I loved watching the unlikely pair of Presley and Shot fall for each other. They just couldn't stop it from happening and it was truly meant to be.

Blacklisted was my first book from Jay Crown over and it was a really great read!

I had heard great things about her writing, and I am so glad I finally picked up one of her books. The characters were complex and interesting, the plot well paced, and the action kept me glued to the page.

I can't wait to go back and start the series from the beginning.

I was really looking forward to reading this one. Seeing how Presley and Shot's story was going to play out.

It took me a week to read this one and not because it wasn't good, its really good, but I finally got hit with the covid blues and couldn't concentrate. If you know me i average 3-5 books a week depending so taking a week to read one was a big deal to me.

Once I got my mojo back I delved into this one and was completely captivated. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this story would play out, what Ashby's final plan would be. The chemistry between Shot and Presley was off the charts hot I was surprised there was no steam coming off my kindle.

If you haven't read the other books in this series then I would highly advise you do before reading this as the suspense storyline pretty much runs through them all so it would spoil it if you read this one first.

I am sad to say goodbye to the Loveless Texas series and I am secretly hoping we will get to see some of the characters in Jay Crownovers future books i.e a certain MC series.

I felt like I was waiting forever to read Presley & Shot''s book. They way their introduction was in Unforgiven has left me salivating for Blacklisted to come out. And the wait was worth it. I loved Presley and Shot.

I wasn't sure what to expect originally with this genre from Jay Crownover, as this seemed like a leap from what she normally writes. I also wasn't sure how she was going to have Shot weave into this genre and story with him being in the MC but it was down so well. I was hooked with the series from the start and so happy with how the whole series went from beginning to end.

Shot and Presley are the most unlikely duo but they just work together. Throughout the series there has been a mystery going along with the main romance stories and it finally comes to a head here in Blacklisted. I loved how the mystery and the romance were woven together. I loved all the characters from the series and new ones we met here in Blacklisted.

I loved the balance of Shot and Presley and how they countered each other which helped them evolve as people individually and as a couple. My fingers are crossed that we get a spin off series from the boys of Shot's MC. I'm just putting it out there that would be awesome. ;)

I also loved the meshing of all the Lawton's and how they took Presley in. Every Lawton and their spouses have been awesome throughout the series. I can't wait for more from this author as she once again wrote an amazing book and series.

Jay Crownover has done it again. I have been counting down the days until Blacklisted was released. I have been waiting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happened with Shot and Presley.

Presley is being hunted by her ex-best friend and she wants answers about her mother's death. When she does a favor for Shot that ends up saving his life he doesn't like that he owes her. After standing outside of her home for days on end she finally makes an appearance telling him she doesn't need his help. Only she ends up getting shot at. Shot doesn't know if the bullets were meant for her or for him. Sticking by her side and helping her through her grief is no hardship with the sexy magnetic pull between them.

I loved Shot and Presley. Presley grows so much throughout this story with the understanding she isn't alone and finding a good work-life balance. I loved how Shot pushed her and made her feel beautiful while also balancing his biker lifestyle. I was a bit disappointed we didn't get more MC stuff in the story, but overall everything was really well done and well-paced.

I have been very excited about this story and it definitely lived up to the hype. I love all things Jay Crownover and no matter what she writes I'm reading it. Blacklisted did not disappoint and I feel like it was amazing to have such a great conclusion to this great series.

What a wonderful wrap up to the Lawton family's story that this series has focused on! While this focused on Presley and Shot's romance, it gave us a wonderful conclusion to the series as a whole. I knew I would love it going in and it did not disappoint. This picks up right where the last book ended and I really suggest reading the prior books so you get a sense of the family dynamic going on.

Blacklisted was amazingly good and I couldn't put it down!

Blacklisted picked up shortly after Unforgiven left off. Presley is still dealing with her crazy ex-best friend and Shot is newly recovered from being Shot. They are such an unlikely pair, but that's one of my favorite tropes and Crownover did an amazing job at showing how opposites attract and how strong of a couple they can be. While it's in Shot's nature to be super protective he realizes that if he wants to be with Presley he has to make some concessions, I really appreciated this tone and how it all worked out.

As with the other books you still get the rest of the Lawtons, I loved seeing them as they were woven in to Presley and Shot's story. Especially the developing bond between Presley and Kody.

The two storylines with Shot's trouble and Presley's trouble were woven together seamlessly, with a big bang of an ending that felt perfect to me.

While Shot is part of a MC, the Sons of Sorrow, I appreciated that it didn't take over the main focus of the book. There was just enough of that to help me understand shot, but not so much that I felt like I was watching Sons of Anarchy.

I always enjoy a good opposites attract romance, and Blacklisted was definitely that!

The book picks up just where we left off in Unforgiven. Presley is a doctor who is used to leading a more solitary life. She is struggling to be comfortable around her newfound family. Shot... well, Shot is nothing like Presley. Presley is quiet and a rule follower. Shot is the president of an MC and doesn't think twice about bending or breaking the rules. But no matter how different these two are, there is an undeniable connection between them from the very start.

I loved watching these two as their connection and attraction mystified each other. As they became closer and you could see how wonderfully they balanced the other. They really are two halves that fit seamlessly together to make a whole.

Blacklisted was full of feeling, suspense, danger, and heart. It was a great addition to the Loveless series.

This romance was a real pleasure to read because it contains all the ingredients that make the success of Jay Crownover ‘s novels. More than a romance, it is an ode to respect for others, to family ties and to the bonds that we form. It is a beautiful plea to love and also especially to family and friends.

The end of this story comes too quickly for my liking but leaves us with a smile. It’s a bittersweet ending as we have to say goodbye to heroes we have grown to love as if we were just around them.

Blacklisted marks the end of this family series perfectly. It’s a saga that I loved to read and that confirms the pleasure I have in reading Jay Crownover.

This current story was easy to read was intriguing and was full of drama and had really great characters. We are really loving this series.

We loved Shot that man just oozed dominance and alpha-ness and gave off that scary vibe but, we loved how he kept all that in check trying to woo the women he wanted to be his. I loved he was a bit out of sorts for the first time ever out of his comfort zone when I came to Presley because from the get-go they had this amazing chemistry that both of them danced around quite a bit before they both decided to pursue it. Their dance was super cute, and we loved that they were complete opposites yet, their different personalities were something each other ultimately craved.

Presley was a character who was quite different from every other character we have read about she was a medical examiner who has been career-focused and hasn't had a lot of time to play but, after meeting Shot things were about to change. That smart sexy aloof woman was about to have her world turned upside down once again by a dark and dangerous bad boy she never knew she would need in her life. Our heart went out to Presley as she hasn't had an easy life growing up and then you had the psycho ex, and she was fiercely independent and has had a really hard time and struggling to accept her new family and their help which made her super emotional but, it was cute how she was slowly letting people in and that she now had a new family to count on. We loved seeing her come out of the shell and slowly blossom.

Talk about chemistry Presley and Shot had that in spades! We absolutely loved them together and even when they were exploring and fighting the chemistry they had together was hot!

Overall we loved this story that was emotion infused and filled with crazy ex-friends and others bent on revenge. The story had constant chaos going on all around Presley and Shot to the bitter end that was also filled with a great cast of characters that we absolutely loved. This story picks up where the last story in this ended so it's important to read this series in order.

WOW!! I absolutely love this book.

It isn't very long so I was able to read it fairly quick. I love the characters so much.

I do recommend this.

I give this 5 out of 5.

Blacklisted is the third full length novel in the Loveless, Texas series and centres around Introverted and closed off, Dr Presely Baskin & local patched up bad boy, Shot Caldwell.

The Prologue for Blacklisted picks up right at the end of Unforgiven where Kody has called in Presley to save Shot's life after he was hit by bullets in a shot out at her bar and sets the scene for how the rest of the story develops between Presley and Shot.

Presley has lived a private and somewhat lonely life, her late mother and her ex best friend have been her only companions and confidants. Presley lost her the 2 most important people to her but has gained a sister and 2 brothers that she's not sure what to do with or how to interact with.

Shot grew up in an environment that most don't survive, surrounded by bad guys and bad deeds with a father who didn't care about him. Joining the marines was where Shot found his calling and his true family.

Presley and Shot were both damaged characters who's lives became intertwined by Presley saving Shot's life. Both grew up in very different circumstances yet this one single event that brought them together was a catalyst for a passionate relationship that grew into a forever type of love.

I have absolutely devoured every single word of the Loveless, Texas series. From the first moment I met the characters in this series, I was in love with each and everyone of them. Jay Crownover has created a world that you want to live in, with characters you want to befriend or fall in love with. I love anything that Jay writes, she has this knack of pulling you into a world she creates with incredible characters who develop from damaged or lost people into so much more and stories that do the same. The relationships between each of the characters involved in Blacklisted are complex and full of secrets but when everything comes to light, each of the characters shows there true worth and they come together as the family that they each need and deserve.

The Loveless, Texas series has an element of suspense to it that also keeps you engaged with every word or every page. I highly recommend reading Blacklisted and the entire Loveless, Texas series! I can't wait to see whats coming next from Jay Crownover!
