Another amazing book from Jay Crownover! I was so so happy to be given Shot’s story! I was intrigued by him from book 1 in the Loveless series! Shot’s story nothing short of drama! It starts with him needing Dr. Presley’s help from a dangerous wound. Presley feels a spark of attraction between her & Shot by helping to heal him. Presley came to Loveless to meet her half siblings...she’s also on the run from a crazy ex best friends who after her! Shot is a sexy biker and president of the club. Shot believes he owes Presley bc she helped save his life but she just wants him to stop watching over her. Shot is determined to insert himself into Presley’s life while she is determined to push him away! Presley eventually gives in to Shot and his watching. These to are so imperfectly perfect for one another. Presley is the calm to Shot’s storm. They are fired together no doubt! I really loved watching these two find their way to love. The book was the perfect mix of intense, sexy, sweet, & had me not ever wanting to leave Loveless! I wish there were more in this series! I def recommend reading this and the other 2 in this series! It won’t disappoint!

This is the third (plus book 0.5) book of the series, and continues on from book two, so I would definitely recommend that you read them in order. We had just found out that the Lawton siblings have a half-sister, Presley, and she is somehow involved in the death of their father.
Presley is an ME who just got a promotion and suddenly her life isn't just plagued with strange occurrences, but she is in danger. After a few issues, her half siblings rally round to help. What's more, Kody asks for her help in saving Shot, the biker club leader, and so she ends up with him owing her his life. I really enjoyed how these two characters work out the ramifications of this debt – and for sure, she needs all the help she can get, but the inconvenient feelings she has for the man are something that confound her.
I really enjoyed catching up with the previous three couples, and seeing how Kody had turned her business around now that Hill is in her life. Plans for Della and Crew's wedding were also fun elements, in what was quite a dark and nasty plot against Presley. It is amusing that Shot, who is hardly a paragon of virtue, turns out to be the light in her life.
I have really enjoyed all four of these stories, and can highly recommend reading them all in one go, as they fit perfectly together.

Good girl meets bad boy. Good girl runs far and fast from bad boy. Bad boy can't stay away from good girl. Good girl finds bad boy irresistible.
Isn't this what we all fantasize about? The good girl falling for the bad boy and reforming him to fit in with normal society, keeping just enough of the bad boy to keep us satisfied at home?
Too bad that's not Shot Caldwell. It's not that he's terrible, but he does stand with one foot on the wrong side of the law. Meeting Presley Barnes when she has to patch him after being shot isn't the best way to make a good impression on the upstanding and up and coming high profile coroner. Nor does Shot like to be indebted to anyone outside of his club.
When trouble finds Presley, Shot gets drawn into the mix by saving her life. Repayment made. Then when trouble continues to find Presley, Shot can't help himself but get involved. While he doesn't want Presley, he doesn't want her hurt – or dead, either.
When you take a walk on the wild side in Loveless, there's a good chance you will end up with new family, friends, and a love that you didn't anticipate.

Blacklisted is an opposites-attract romance. Some stories like this have the characters clashing while the sparks fly, but I never felt the clash here. They are aware of their differences and work with it. My favorite thing about Blacklisted is the way Presley and Shot affected each other. She is conservative and stable, and it gave Shot a calmness he doesn’t get elsewhere being the president of an MC. On the other hand, Shot is a confident man who lives life his way and doesn’t follow the law, and his outlook on life inspires Presley to come out of her shell and stop hiding away. I love the way they fit together and try to work together because it showed their maturity.
Another really good thing about Blacklisted is the action. There are a few different action scenes throughout the story, but there is an early one that really got my heart pumping and is a reminder that Shot is dangerous and ruthless when it comes to going after what he wants.
What didn’t work so much for me in Blacklisted was the amount of internal monologues from Presley. It got repetitive and there were times it felt like it wasn’t adding anything to the story repeating things, it was just adding pages to the book.
Overall, I had a good time with reading Blacklisted, and I enjoyed Presley and Shot as a couple – 3.5 stars from me.
This is the third book in the series, and I am wondering if this is one of those series where each book is better than the last! I loved the characters, the action, the mystery...it had a little bit of everything in this story. I have read several books with motorcycle club member heroes, and this is not my first where the hero is the President of said club, so when I say that this man was one to beat, I mean it. Jay Crownover did an amazing job writing a hero who was just outside the edges of the law and still came across as an honorable man. Sure, he definitely breaks the law, but his heart is in the right place. If you're not sure if this book is for you, then ask yourself this - do I like men who treat women right, fight for the safety of their loved ones, and live their life to its fullest? Do I like women who struggle yet persevere, are brave in spite of their fear, and can see the good in others when they don't see it themselves? If the answer is yes, keep on reading.
Dr. Presley Baskin has not had a good year. After finding out she is the illegitimate child of Conrad Lawton, meeting his family and discovering siblings she never knew she had, her mother dying, and her best friend trying to kill her, she's just about had it with the drama. Terrified of putting others in danger, she's stayed hidden away, hoping that being out of sight will convince her former friend to move on and stop trying to ruin her life...more than it already is. When her half-sister, Kody, calls her desperate, Presley reluctantly goes to Kody's bar and sees a dying man on the floor covered in blood. Her medical training prompts her to do everything she can to save his life, and now she is owed a debt by none other than Shot Caldwell, the president of Sons of Sorrow motorcycle club. Shot hates owing anyone anything, and he is determined to relieve himself of this unwanted debt. However, when he meets Presley for the first while conscious, he is struck by her strength and bravery. When an attempt is made on her life, it's no longer about a debt being owed - it's about saving a woman who deserves to feel safe again. As they grow closer, his protective instincts become something more, but with a killer on the loose, their romance might be cut short.
Presley was a really inspiring character! She was so strong, had done a lot with her life for her family and for others, and it was sad to see how a jealous woman could so upset Presley's accomplishments. The way she stood up for herself to Shot and to other people had me cheering her on, and even when her desire for justice became a little bloody, I still felt she was doing the right thing. Shot was a great character to contrast Presley, as she had this quiet strength while Shot's was quite loud. Having been in the military and then spending his time in the club protecting other people, he was clearly a knight in black leather for Presley, even if she didn't want him to save her. As the story progressed, she saw the benefit to having him there, and getting to know him allowed her to see sides of him that he never let anyone else see. My only issue in this whole book was when he decided to make decisions for her, without bringing her into his plans, which as these things always go, did not end well. I was frustrated, even though I acknowledged that he wasn't alone in his stupidity. Men - what can you do?
Overall an entertaining read and one I would recommend to anyone who likes alpha men and strong heroines. Jay Crownover is an author I will definitely continue to read.
Hot motorcycle bad boy falls for gorgeous government medical examiner – and our heroine’s over-protective brother is the sheriff trying to track down her crazy, stalker ex-bestie! Sounds like an “opposites attract” romance that will never work out – but we are all for the wild ride to see if it does!
Presley has been terrorized by her psychotic ex-friend and co-worker for the last several months – both sabotaging her career and probably murdering her mother. Presley moves to Lawless, Texas to get to know her new fiercely loyal family after losing her mother while trying to hide from that crazy chick. She ends up saving the life of our anti-hero one violent night at her sister’s bar.
Shot was shot in the cliffhanger of the series’ last book – Unforgiven. Presley is called in to save the Sons of Sorrow president and the bikers whisk her away to their secret club location. Shot wakes up from his almost certain deathbed and is immediately in her debt and he “hates owing anyone” a debt. Thus begins his surveillance of her every move. Shot will do anything to keep her safe, even as his club grumbles at his distraction.
Even though they are from opposite worlds, their chemistry is super combustible. Instant attraction is a troupe our author Jay Crownover has perfected and once Shot and Presley connect – how sweet it is! Along the way to their HEA, we have our psycho’s suspense and some motorcycle club shenanigans. Oh yeah, some Lawton family love as well – a baby, a wedding and a medical scare all put our “reader feels” thru the wringer. The surprise sprung at the final showdown caught me off guard in typical Crownover fashion.
I have been anxiously waiting to read this installment of the Loveless series – and super sad that it is the conclusion to the Lawton family rom-drama. Ms. Crownover is one of my favorite authors and with Blacklisted she does not disappoint. Now where is she going to take us next?
Thanks to Jay, NetGalley and Forever Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Dr. Presley Baskin has been having a really rough time. Her entire life imploded and she is now left dealing with loss and anger, waiting for her ex-friend and current stalker to come out of hiding, and dealing with new half-siblings she did not know she had. When her half-sister calls her desperate for help, she did not expect to have to help save the life of the President of the local MC Club.
Shot Caldwell would have died if not for the Presley. And even though he knows she is not the kind of woman for him and is also the Sheriff's half-sister, he pays his debts. And that is his justification for why he cannot seem to stay away from her even when she or her half-brother tell him to. But it becomes clear pretty fast that Presley is in danger and Shot just cannot leave her unprotected.
“I’m the one who is going to purposely cross your path. I’m never going to walk the other way when I see you coming. I’m going to head right toward you.”
Presley is reserved, sweet, analytical, anxiety-ridden, hurt, and afraid. She has been hiding out and trying to keep safe. Shot is ex-military, an MC legacy, bossy, and likes to be in control. He has plenty of his own enemies gunning for him and his club too. He knows he is not meant for relationships even though he had a casual one with her half-sister. Yes, another reason Presley should be off-limits.
He is the chaos...she is the calmness. He is alpha, tough, and protective. He pushes her out of her comfort zone and encourages her to take back her life. She is becoming empowered and determined to deal with her situation once and for all so she can find peace. They take turns saving each other and trading favors. And along the way they start connecting and getting more serious. But they are different types of people and live different lives.
(QUOTE) The truth was that there was no place in the life I was preparing to go back to for someone like Shot Caldwell. It was boring, predictable, and staid…well it would be once no one was trying to kill me. And who was I to expect someone who lived their life full tilt, full speed, and out of control to try and understand that? To try and find their space inside the stillness? Not me. I would never.
This is an opposites-attract, forbidden, good-girl-meets-bad-boy romance with danger, suspense, and heat. It is not only a romantic suspense story, but also a journey of self-realization and a catalyst for change for both of them. It's about finding a connection, balance, priorities, and the importance of family and a home. I enjoyed seeing the growth in the characters and changing dynamics with her family and his club. It brings back the intense Lawton siblings and their significant others, and continues and concludes the ongoing mystery and suspense story arc that began in the previous books. And it lets us see what is going on in their relationships and leave them right where they need to be.
I will admit that I had a harder time keeping my attention on this one and I am not sure why. It could have just been me. Something about the point of view or writing style on this one that did not draw me in as much as her books usually do. It took me longer to read than usual and I kept putting it down. But the last half went faster and had more action than the first part. And overall, I liked it and the characters.
Who would have thought that Kody’s friend, Shot the hardass biker guy, actually had a soft spot? All it took was for Presley to remove a bullet from his shoulder and he was smitten. Presley is the recently discovered half sibling of Kody, Case, and Crew Lawton. She’s got a former friend terrorizing her and her new family, throughout most of the series. Since this is the last of the series, I think, a lot of the storylines get wrapped up. Normally a series like this you could jump in at any book and meet the couples but this has a continuing storyline threaded throughout, I recommend reading the books in order. Crownover is always a great read, she provides characters with deep feelings and intriguing personalities, along with a flying bullet now and again. My copy came through Netgalley and I wrote my review voluntarily.
After meeting Presley in the previous book I was really interested in finding out more about her. Her life pretty much blew up in her face after finding out about half siblings, her mother dying, her ex-best friend going psycho and now being dragged into the world of the Sons of Sorrow MC after helping their president, Shot. Shot has his own issues and someone after him but that doesn't stop him from stepping in and helping Presley.
Presley and Shot had undeniable chemistry and I really liked getting to see their differences and how they made them perfect for each other. Presley was used to a boring life with a normal routine but Shot definitely shook that routine up even more than her stalker did. The emotions were high in this book and it had me captivated with every turn of the page as I got to see more and more of this couple finding how they fit together.
Shot may be a bad boy biker but he had that heart of a cowboy and that's what this book focuses on. Bottom line, it was a brilliant story that kept me intrigued and had me falling in love with both characters. It's one I definitely recommend reading and would say that this is a series that needs to be read in order to really enjoy it.
Palmer 'Shot' Caldwell we end books two with him and Presley meeting for the first time after she comes to Kody's rescue to help him. This could be read as a standalone but why?!? books before are wonderful and give you so much of the backstory! MC prez with a ME doctor is one for the books, loved this story. We get some of the MC club idea but we also see Shot willing to step back to be with her. We also get some of the other backstory with Presley crazy ex- BFF. What he is willing to do to protect her- swoon!
This was way more mystery/ romance suspense than I thought the series would be. It also reads as a whole story- the series which I really enjoyed- one long book! They are all steamy goodness but also slow burn! I really enjoyed reading Jay's books and will go back to read her past series as well! Can't wait for more of this author!
Overall, 4 stars and 3.5 steam
This was so freakin' good. I've been waiting for this journey between Presley and the MC Prez, ever since I read Unforgiven, Kody and Hill's story. I do love this whole memorable series.
After Presley literally saves Shot's life, he owes her. That's the thought in his mind anyway, and since she has a deranged evil woman after her, Shot takes on the roll of protector. About the only thing these two have in common is their lack of knowing what being in love is. Two people stepping out of their boxes for the other and not quite sure why, either, until it's brought front and center to both.
Blacklisted is full of the feels, ups and downs, life and death action, blazing heat, what family means, and best of all what being in love feels like.
A well written fast-paced, intriguing, thrilling, suspenseful romance ending with an HEA that had me doing my own extremely relieved happy sigh!
I've been eagerly awaiting the final installment of The Loveless, Texas series. Even though I'm sad to say goodbye to this town and the wonderful Lawton clan, I was glad to see them all happily settled.
Without further ado...Oh yes! Shot was well worth the wait!! I loved the dynamic between him and Presley. They were polar opposites and yet perfect for each other anyway. Presley is the quiet and somewhat introverted medical examiner who also happens to be the half sister of the Lawtons. She's got a crazy stalker who has killed people close to her in the past and is still gunning for her. So, it makes absolutely no sense that she falls for the local motorcycle president, Shot Caldwell. He isn't exactly who he seems, but he is a motorcycle club president who doesn't shy away from violence when necessary. He also finds himself obsessed with keeping Presley safe even when they can't tell where the threat is coming from.
I enjoyed seeing these two "save" each other. Their banter and chemistry were off the charts. I love an unlikely couple. Especially when they are just so perfectly wrong for each other. These two fit the bill with no doubt. Even though Presley's half siblings doubted Shot's intentions and wanted to keep them apart, she has no intention of being separated from Shot unless it's by her own choice. I loved that even though Presley is quiet and somewhat meek, she's not weak. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself and express her opinions. I'm pretty sure it's one of the things that draws Shot to her as well. Overall, this was a feel good romance with some mystery and suspense thrown in. Kudos Ms. Crownover for giving this series such a wonderful sendoff. I look forward to seeing what world you create for us next.
Thank you to NetGalley, Forever Publishing and Ms. Crownover for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
Not all bad boys are bad boys all the time! Shot and Presley don’t know what love is but it smacks them right in the face as Presley fights for her life and her name to be cleared. This book has hot bikers, sexy lawmen and sassy women.
Complementary copy given for honest review and opinion.
Suspense, action, romance, some steam and some angst all rolled into one exciting novel. Loved the Lawtons’ all in commitment to family. Despite being opposite personalities, Presley and Shot were perfect together. While this could be read as a stand alone, you will want to enjoy the previous stories. Love this author’s writings.
Blacklisted by Jay Crownover is full of great characters, a fascinating storyline and well-crafted suspense. The two main characters, Dr. Pressley Baskin and Palmer "Shot" Caldwell make an interesting couple. Presley is in fear of her life from the woman Presley thought was her best friend. Shot is the leader of the Sons of Sorrow motorcycle Club. Presley saved his life when he got shot up and Shot returned the favor when someone shot at Presley. This is a super opposites attract story. I loved seeing Presley and Shot get a Happily Ever After. Ms. Crownover's Loveless, Texas series is fantas
Full of action, suspense, and romance! Blacklisted definitely works as a standalone, but the series is awesome. I've been waiting to find out what happened with Shot since the epilogue of Unforgiven, and this book did not disappoint.
We met Shot Caldwell, leader of the local motorcycle club, in the earlier books. He's great friends with Kody Lawton and enemies with her brother Case, the sheriff, since the club doesn't always do things the fully legal way. Presley is the Lawtons' half sister and a medical examiner who is staying in Loveless because she's being stalked.
Shot's code of favors and his gratitude for Presley's help make him indebted to her, but they soon figure out they have an undeniable attraction to each other and want to keep tabs on the other. It was nice to see other sides of Shot and see inside his head, because he came off in the earlier books as a total tough guy outlaw biker, even though he was good to Kody. Presley's core has been so rocked by the stalker and related events she's gone through that I think she really needed someone like Shot that she could rely on, even if she didn't always appreciate it.
I'm sad to see this series end, but the book and especially the epilogue did a nice job of updating on all the other characters.
I was so excited to finally read Shot's story. The mysterious biker (not sure why the cover went cowboy?) that has been my favorite character in the series.
We met Presley (a coroner) in the last book as a half sibling to the Lawton's in Loveless. She has been the victim of her former friend turned stalker out to ruin Presley's life.
Shot is the resident leader of the Sons of Sorrow motorcycle club. He's always been a not so favorite of the Lawton's, especially Sheriff Case. Now he feels it's his first to watch over Presley... After all, she did save his life.
Presley and Shot can not be any more different! But I loved them together... Very opposites attract! Shot is tough on the outside but is actually a very caring and supportive guy.
While reading Unforgiven, I was thinking since Shot was no longer with Kody wouldn’t it be great if he hooked up with Presley. I was so happy to see that this was their story. Underneath all that biker hardness, Shot is actually a decent guy. Presley ended up with two families. A great ending to the series. The only problem I have is with the cover, he is a tattooed biker not a cowboy. I like the covers to reflect who the characters are.
Another installment to the Loveless, Texas series that was jam packed with just as much intensity and action as the previous two. I enjoyed the premise of this book, the back story and the two main characters who were unexpectedly thrust together and became a great unit.
Some parts through the middle lost me a bit in the details. There was a tendency for the writer to be in their heads a lot which became repetitive and super detailed causing me to get a little bored. The execution through the middle got lost in the details and the story became less engaging.
The characters though had chemistry in spades. And of course all the characters we've met in the previous books kept things interesting. Blacklisted is an enjoyable, suspenseful romance with a coupling you didn't expect but that really works.
I am so sad this series is over. I truly loved each book in this series from Jay Crownover and became attached to this community and family. In Blacklisted, Shot and Presley are the main characters. Shot is the president of a motorcycle club and Presley is a medical examiner, hiding out in Loveless. I have never read a motorcycle club romance before, so that was a new experience. If you also haven't read one, I think this is a great introduction to the genre. As with the other books, I loved the balance of romance and suspense. I wholeheartedly recommend this series to any reader! One to definitely read in order!
The third and (I'm assuming) last book in the Loveless Texas Series has the small town feel, but also has more action than you might expect in a small town. There are things that took place in the previous books that may give you a clearer outlook into the characters, and the situation surrounding them in this book, but you get enough background in this book to be able to follow without much worry (of course there may be some spoilers if you plan to go back and read the others afterwards.) I would highly suggest reading them in the proper order to get the complete story in the proper timeline. Plus, after reading this book, you'll want to go back and get the other characters stories anyways! :) The Heroine and Hero are both 'outcasts' of sorts in the small town. She is a newly discovered 'secret' sister to the Lawton clan. He is the outlaw biker. After finding out about her biological father and this new family she has, she decided to stay in town, but she has an evil villain out to destroy her more than her world has already been destroyed. She's basically living the hermit life afraid of getting too close to anyone in fear the villain will hurt them too. One fateful night she ends up saving him and now him and his MC club owe her one. She's not looking for payment and just wants to be left alone, unfortunately he starts to feel more for her and makes her safety his number one priority. In addition to the romantic aspect, there is some thrill and suspense involved as the people surrounding her work to catch the elusive villain before it's too late. Only thing to decide is will it be according to her brother the Sherriff and by the books, or by her bad boy outlaw beau who isn't afraid to take matters into his own hands and at any means necessary. Both the leading characters are well developed and you a real feel about their personalities and what makes them tick. They are almost complete opposites in every way, yet for some reason they work together. (Once she agrees to allow him into her life, that is.) This authors writing is always good and knows how to bring the emotions into play. Oh you may not weep (too much) but you will feel... through both the good times and the bad. It reads easily and the story moves smoothly. There is some sexual content and general 'mature reader' subject matter. It alternates between POVs.
*I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley.
Presley is being followed by a stalker. She had helped save the life of the president of the local motorcycle club so he takes it upon himself to help protect her. They are total opposites but there is an attraction there. Can they find a middle ground? This is a great addition to the series. Keeps you on your toes.
