Loved this book.!!! Jay really hit it out of the park with this one. I believe that Blacklisted is my favorite book of her Loveless series. Ever since the character of Shot was introduced in an earlier book, I was really hoping he would get his own storyline. I had trouble putting this putting this book down. I wanted to just sit and read from start to finish, which wasn’t exactly an option at the time. It made me cry a bit too. I hope she continues on and gives Top a book. He intrigues me just like Shot did.
Jay Crownover really is a good storyteller. Romance, suspense, she covers it all beautifully.
When Kody calls her half-sister, Presley, to save her friend Shot after a fight in her bar, she never predicted Presley would insist on accompanying the motorcycle club to their club to make sure he was medically stable. Presley finds herself in danger from a former colleague and Shot feels drawn to care for her now. Presley’s normally calm and stable life is a mixture of danger and drama now. Shot is used to both and embraces the tranquility being with Presley brings him. I love this series by Jay Crownover. The characters are wonderfully flawed and the storylines interweave skillfully. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I'm a huge fan of Jay Crownover's work and I must say that I've been looking forward to Shot's book for quite some time. He's played such a role in the other books and I not disappointed!
Blacklisted picks up where Unforgiven left off. You wouldn't necessarily have to have read Unforgiven, but it will certainly give you a better understanding of the family dynamics and how things have unfolded to get us to where we are at the beginning of the book. For that matter, pick up the whole series - it's worth it!
Dr. Presley Baskin has recently found out that she is a half-sibling with the Lawton's. They are all still feeling out their relationships, but when she begins being harassed and terrorized by her former friend,/co-worker her family wants to help, especially her sister Kody and her brother, who happens to be the sheriff, Case.
Shot Caldwell has known nothing else in his life than being part of an MC. His father was the head of one in Colorado and now he has his own chapter just outside of Loveless. While he skirts and sometimes breaks the rules, there is a caring and vulnerable guy underneath all that leather.
Presley and Shot find themselves in one another's orbit quite often and they form a tentative friendship. Presley is strong, independent and she's determined to lure her former friend out in order to get the truths she seeks, but when she finds herself in need of help, she turns to the one person she knows can help her. Shot is more than willing to help Presley and he's taken by her strength and want for answers. For a man that doesn't normally want to spend time with women outside the bedroom, Presley is very different for him. Will these two seemingly different people be able to not only get the answers Presley needs, but also find their way to forever?
This was such a great story. The characters, the suspense, the friendships and the familial bonds all combined to great such a rich platform for everything to unfold. Crownover always has had a way with words and she writes beautifully. I enjoy her books so much and look forward to what comes next!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
Blacklisted is a book about two people who are on the outside of life, the world, their families, society…each really finding their niche and place where they thrive, and then finding the person who completes them without forcing them to change.
Presley suffered a horrible loss and was faced with the ultimate betrayal by a friend of hers. Ashby tried to frame Presley for murder but failed. She threatened to kill her so the Texas Rangers put her in protective custody. But she’s tired of living in fear so she moved in with the Lawton family.
The Lawton family is infamous around this small town in central Texas. The patriarch had left a legacy of corruption and crime, all while wearing a badge and pretending to serve and protect.
Dr. Presley Baskin is a medical examiner working in Loveless, Texas. When Shot gets shot Kody calls Presley for help. Shot Caldwell is the club president of the Sons of Sorrow biker club. Both have targets on their backs.
Trope: outlaw biker, suspense, instant love, damsel in distress, bad boy, and opposites attract
Overall:
The Sons of Sorrow were introduced in the Marked Men series back in 2013. In this book the reader gets to know more about Shot. Since the club was based in Colorado, it’s loosely based off of the Sons of Silence. Jay had a challenging time writing a book with a biker and a club, therefore the bad boys and their hijinks don’t takeover the whole book. You will read very little about the actual lifestyle. Basically, Shot is the President and outlaw biker with a penchant for protecting the new girl in town.
Don’t be fooled by the cover Shot isn’t a cowboy he’s an outlaw biker. If your looking for biker story this is not your book.
If you’ve read the prior books in this series you’ll be happy to note that these supporting cast of characters Case and Aspen, Hill and Kody, & Della and Crew were mentioned. I didn’t read the prior books. While these characters didn’t take anything away from the book they did overcrowded Presley’s time with Shot.
I am not a newcomer to Jay Crownover, I have read her books before. My first read was Rule book 1 in the Marked men series. I have to say that book will go down in history as being my all time favorite. Every book written after Rule gets measured against this one. Rule maintains high markings. I’m unable to give any others the same markings. While I really had high hopes for this book it’s just falling flat when I compare it to the writing style of Rule.
DEVOURED!!! That is an understatement once I started reading this book. I loved that Shot and Presley were thrown together in the most unusual circumstance but they are just explosive together. Their connection is deep and intense and it honestly gave me chills. I kinda wanna keep Shot to myself. What I loved about this story though is how Presley grew and developed. You kinda wanted to hate her when she was first introduced in the previous book of the series, but with Blacklisted, you cannot help but adore her and her fighting spirit. Then Shot... well that man is just sin on a bike! The chemistry between these two was beyond sizzling and left you breathless! Highly recommend this book and the whole series!
I loved this book! Not sure if I can get the words to do this review justice. It took me a couple of tries to get into it, but I must have been in the wrong headspace. Once I was ready for this book, I did not put it down. I had a lot of emotions going through this read, and it felt like more military suspense rather than MC. “Shot” and Pressley should not be together. He is the President of the MC and she is the Medical Examiner; both have enemies. Her independence and his life provide the complications, but chemistry wins. I like the ending, even with all our differences we can be a family. Even though it is book three I never felt lost and I will be going back to the beginning of this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the advanced copy for me to review.
Blacklisted is the newest book in the Lawless series and I was so excited to read it. I devoured this book in one day and I now must sit and wait for more. This book is about Presley, who is a medical examiner and also the Lawton’s half sister. She is a doctor and is trying to learn how to deal with her new family. Shot, the outlaw biker who lives next door to Presley’s half sister. Shot is the bad boy outlaw biker who also happens to have a huge heart and cares a lot about his brothers and his friends. Palmer meets Shot when she’s called into the bar her sister owns to help pull a bullet out of Shot. He know feels he owes her one and will do anything to just get the favor out of the way and move on in his life. I love the characters so much in this series. They are full love and are super funny. You will love this story between two people of from different paths who try everything to not be together. Five star read!!
Blacklisted is the 3rd book in the Loveless, Texas series by Jay Crownover. It was great to be brought right back into the lives of the Lawton family. This time, an outsider, Presley, who at the end of book #2 comes to the rescue of the Sons of Sorrows President, Shot, is our focus. I loved all the characters and how they interacted with each other and how they came together as a family. This book has plenty of suspense, drama, and of course, romance. I've was waiting on Shot's story since he was introduced in Kody's book and it doesn't disappoint! I loved how the author brings back the family into the story. Catching up with the lives of past characters was great.
Jay Crownover once again does an amazing job keeping the characters tight in the story and this family finally getting it together. Bikers, cowboys, romance all rolled in to a great book. I recommend this and definitely the entire series!
Blacklisted by Jay Crownover was another novel in the series taking place in the Loveless, Texas. This is Presley and Shot’s story. These two were an unusual couple as they were from such different backgrounds, but opposites attract. This was a well-developed story and had a changing flow to it. I enjoyed most of it but wish the story was a bit shorter as a lot of parts were too descriptive, or really not necessary to the story. I am sorry to say that I had to browse a bit about two-thirds through as I lost interest. My interest picked up again closer to the last few chapters. I liked the story overall, but I still think it got lost a little before it was back on track.
3.5 Stars!
Blacklisted picked up right where Unforgiven left off in the Loveless, Texas series. I loved where things picked up with Presley and Shot. They were such an interesting couple. Plus, I was really excited to find out where everything was going since the entire series had been building up to this point.
I hate to say it, but this books had some ups and downs for me. I wanted to love it so badly, but ended up just liking it in the end. I'm normally a fan of Crownover's writing style, but it didn't work well for me in Blacklisted. It was too wordy. That might sound weird since books are made up of words and the book itself wasn't too long. There was just too much description and not enough dialog. I was being told too many things instead of experiencing them. It bogged the book down for me. I thought it might have been my mood, so I put the book aside for a few days. Things were a little better when I picked it back up, but I am attributing that more to being at about 50% where the action finally started to pick up and I started enjoying the book a lot more.
What about the ups? Well, the ups were great. I loved Presley and Shot. They had such different personalities and jobs. It was truly a case of opposites attract for them. I loved their chemistry and the way their relationship built. I would have loved to spend more time with them as a couple with a lesser suspense plot. Which is feels funny to say because I actually enjoyed the suspense plot in this book.
Another thing I enjoyed was the Lawton family and how they supported Presley. They showed up for her not only when she needed it, but in general. It was fun to see where they were in life and how Presley fit in. I also liked Shot's right hand man, Top. He was interesting. I can only imagine what a book with him as the main character would be like.
In the end I truly ended up liking this book. Like I said before, I started enjoying it more once it hit that 50% mark. The characters' relationship went placed I loved. The suspense plot came together in a way that fit the series and made for a good ending to it. I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters, but I'm excited to find out what's next from Jay Crownover.
Oh I love Jay Crownover. And I love the whole Loveless gang! I hope we get more of the motorcycle club - I wanna learn more about those boys!
Holy Hot Bad Boy Bikers Batman, Shot is my new Book Boyfriend!

Overall Rating: 5 Bad Boy Biker stars
Kindle Unlimited: No
Standalone: Yes, but there is an underlying arc from previous stories. Ms. Crownover does a great job back-filling the story-line, but I think the book would be more enjoyable if you have read the series and connected with the characters.
Steam: 4 Good Girl/Bad Boy flames
Triggers: No

At the end of Unforgiven there is a LOT going on....Kody has called her half-sister Presley to her bar, where Shot is lying on the floor bleeding out riddled with bullets... what will the good girl Medical Examiner Presley do? She will save Shot, that is what she will do! We pick up as Presley is getting into the van with Shot and his crew to go who knows where to try and save Shot’s life. Holy smokes, it is just the prologue and I am already on edge of my seat.

Presley has had a tough life. Her mother was ill most of her life; she has a psychotic ex-bff Ashby that killed her father, made her look incompetent in her job as Medical Examiner, and now Ashby has threatened to kill everyone that Presley cares about. Yep, Ashby is a Grade A psycho! Presley is keeping everyone at arm’s length because she fears they will get hurt. Not to mention she has refused protective custody because she feels the best chance they have at catching Ashby is if she is the bait. She is pushing everyone away.... at least she thinks she is.

Shot does not like being indebted to anyone and currently feels indebted to Presley because she saved his life and helped his crew. As he looks for ways to even the score, he watches her live her life alone, actually he watches her just exist. Alone in her apartment, no visitors, no life. One day, Presley leaves her apartment to confront Shot and tell him to leave when holy cow, shots are fired...who was the target...Presley or Shot? Both have people gunning for them.

Things are getting good now and that is where my recap ends. Presley and Shot are almost complete opposites, but there is something there and as the story progresses so does their chemistry. What I found to be the most interesting was watching them try and navigate a world where one is driven to uphold the law (Presley) and one breaks the law (Shot). Can any relationship make it when you are opposite sides of the law? Can they find common ground?

Blacklisted was the perfect end to the Loveless series. I got to catch up with my favorite characters and I finally got all the answers, and justice I was hoping for. Shot and Presley's story was written perfectly in my opinion, I could not have asked for a better relationship for either of them. Ms. Crownover has written a series that I will. and have already recommended to anyone who will listen, and I will recommend it to you too! If you love a story with a well written plot, characters you will fall in love with, suspense, hot lawmen and bikers, some steam, and happy endings. This is for you. I totally recommend the entire series and this book!

In “Blacklisted” (Loveless, Texas #3) by Jay Crownover we are brought right back into the lives of the Lawton family. This time it is the outsider, Presley, who at the end of “Unforgiven” comes to the rescue of the Sons of Sorrows President, Shot. But when the tables are turned, and he saves her life and his debt should have been paid off all he can think about is keeping her safe. That proves to be harder then either of them expected and while they both try to figure everything out both of their pasts coming crashing into their presents.
This is the 4th book in the Loveless series and as usual Crownover makes the most unlikely couple not only work but has you rooting for them throughout the story (Rule and Shaw or Rome and Cora are other examples). I received this book through Net Galley, and this is my honest review.
It was a wonderful way to end this series. I loved these two characters. I definitely recommend this book, series, and author.
I’ve been waiting for Shot’s story since book one of this series and must say I was not disappointed. MC president, former military man, all around alpha bad*** Shot starts out in a bad place after being truly shot by the bad guys that were after his friend Kody Lawson forcing Kody to ask her half sister Presley , a doctor (yes medical examiners are still trained as doctors) for help. Shy and somewhat boring Presley doesn’t realize one act of kindness will change her quiet and predictable life so much. Presley has her own problems dealing with a former “friend “ stalker who’s trying to ruin her life from jealousy. While Shot and Presley seem like an unlikely couple they balance each other so well that their story is amazing. Their tough/gentle back and forth creates a heat that cannot be denied even though they are such opposites. This book has a good amount of heat, alphaness and action as they try to finally end Presley’s stalker regime. Those who have read the other books in the series will enjoy seeing the familiar faces in of the Lawson crew and while you’ll definitely have a better understanding (the stalker has tie ins with the dealings of other characters) you don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this one. Also there is not much detail about Shot’s MC itself other than a few incidents, but I really would enjoy more stories from the other MC brothers(hint, hint). This is a great story 5 stars. I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review.
I was so excited to finally read Shot and Presley's book. Wished there was a more of a draw out of the whole mystery where is the killer through out the whole book, but the ending scene was really good. Hoping some of the Son's of Sorrow get there own book (looking at you Top).
“Blacklisted” by Jay Crownover was a quick, easy read. I wanted to read about Presley and Shot since reading the previous book in the series, “Unforgiven.” We get a little background from events that happened in the previous books, and you can read this as a standalone, but I definitely recommend reading the first two books.
I wasn’t a big fan of the POV style in this book; it made it really hard for me to connect with the characters. There was too much internal dialogue and recapping of events instead of showing what’s happening in the story. I’ve loved Jay Crownover’s books for years so I’m not sure why I had such a tough time with this one. Overall, I enjoyed the story but I found myself skimming more than anything.
Ohhhhhh my!!! Jay Crownover’s Loveless, Texas series is an automatic 1-click for me and the third installment Blacklisted could quite possibly be my favorite one yet! This fast paced novel centers around Presley and Shot who we know from previous installments so I was excited to get my hands on their story and it absolutely did not disappoint! I adore romance novels that involve Motorcycles Clubs so being that Shot is the president I was in for a treat! I love when romance books have bada$$, smart, determined, and capable leading ladies and Dr. Presley 100% fits that bill! Fantastic main characters plus action packed, sassy, and steamy storyline equals a solid 5 star MUST READ! I highly recommend Blacklisted and if you haven’t started the Loveless, Texas series yet start at the beginning (you will thank me later lol)!
I always know I'll enjoy Jay Crownovers work and Blacklisted was no exception. I eagerly awaited Presley and Shots story after the conclusion of Unforgiven. While the story started a bit slow for me, I really enjoyed Shot and Presleys relationship and watching them each open up to each other. Both are a bit relationship shy for their own reason, but watching them grow and realize they were totally in love was fun. Jay always throws in some crazy thriller aspect and this was no exception. I enjoyed the suspense but wish there had been more of a confrontation between Ashby and Presley rather than what actually happened. I enjoyed this read and look forward to more from Jay!
This was such a great story, but I shouldn’t be surprised because it was written by one of my favorite authors, Jay Crownover, she never disappoints. This is the third book in the Lovless series. I loved all the characters and how they interacted with each other and how they came together as a family. This book had plenty of suspense, drama, and romance. Thank you Netgalley and Forever(Grand Central Publishing) for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
