You either love a poet's work, or you feel indifferent about it. Beau Taplin had some beautiful words in this collection, and I hate that I waited so long to give it a read. I'll keep this poet on my radar for future works.

Another book by Beau Taplin that got me into poetry. Here at Dawn is a reflection of honesty and rawness presented by Taplin's character. Every pieces of this book is utterly amazing and the originality of course is present in every pages. Taplin's way of writing and sending signals are what I love the most. It is directed to teach lessons and become aware of what is happening. Here at Dawn is a great book!

"There is nothing ordinary about you or this remarkable world we inhabit. There is wild beauty, there is poetry, alive all around you. The secret is simply knowing where to look."

I just finished this poetry book and I loved it!
Not all poems resonated with me, but the ones that did really hit home.
A lot of the poems are about love and partners, and they seem to be true, but I sadly can't relate.
I really liked that a lot of poems encourage you to be your best self. And that you can learn and grow from things that cause you pain.

One thing really stuck with me:
"You may not always feel strong, but you can always be brave."
My other favorite poems were definitely 'the deep night', 'the symphony of the earth' and 'a true friend'

I will definitely go check out other books from thos author!
I'm going to rate this 4/5 stars 🙂

This was an interesting collection to read directly after Cyrus Parker's Coffee Days and Whiskey Nights.

While Cyrus left his reader with the question of,

what is the meaning of all this living when there will come a time
where not a single soul will remember who I am?
are we all meant to be such impermanent things?

One of the very first poems in Beau's collection seems to take on and answer that question directly:

Should you ever begin to feel
like your life holds no meaning,
remember this: your simple presence
is an instrument in the symphony of the earth,
and every last soul note is needed here.
Every kindness you show others
passes on to another

This stayed with me. Throughout the whole reading. This is a poet who knows how to take the positives out of life, and to write about those.

It's the first collection I've read by this poet--another Australian poet!--and I have already grabbed for previous work that I hadn't heard of up till now. Always very excited to get to see poetry from both men and Australians.

The premise of this collection was to find the beauty and the magic in all the little every day moments, and I can definitely say that that was an aim well managed.

I received an advance reading copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Beau Taplin is someone I know personally living in Melbourne. He is the reason I fell in love with poetry and reading in general.

I love that his poetry collection is growing and this is another beautiful edition. I can’t wait to get my hands on a hard copy as it looks gorgeous.

As always, Beau Taplin's poetry is beautiful and inspiring. He succinctly captures emotions and conveys it in a way that readers are able to relate to and understand. Overall, a good collection of poems that are, at times, hard-hitting.

I absolutely adored this collection. I printed the poem, "You're Never Too Old" and gifted it to my mother-in-law, and can't wait to gift her the physical copy when it is released. There is something extraordinary about Beau's poetry, and I found myself connecting with every poem in some way. There is magic in every day life. Moving, authentic and beautiful.

I don't read poetry often, but when I do I'm quite selective about what I read! The blurb of this one really intrigued me, thus making me go forward and actually read it! And the book didn't disappoint me at all!
The book talks about a lot of things happening around us during the mundane and the magic we can find in it! The book also talks about self love and self acceptance. I loved the simple way in which Beautifully intricate things were explained! Totally loved it!
A great start for poetry beginners!

Here at Dawn: Poetry and Prose by Beau Taplin

2 stars

This collection focuses on poetry and prose with a blending of illustrations and art. The art is very beautiful and adds a great layer to the collection. However, the collection was a HUGE letdown. This collection has a lot of promise, but I personally did not care for the use of diction and the particular poetry that Taplin writes. It was just not for me. I think why I was so letdown was because the introduction talks about his deep love for magic and I thought this poetry collection would feel magical. It didn’t and the poetry was your typical modern poetry. It was nothing spectacular and I think many will enjoy the collection, but it wasn’t for me.

Here at Dawn by Beau Taplin is a beautiful collection of poetry that speak of noting the magic in everything around you, in the day to day things. Poetry can be hit or miss a lot, because it’s so personal and you as the reader have to find something that connects you to the poetry to give you a tether to the words being shared. I found that connection in Taplin’s work and look forward to buying a hard copy for myself in the future to mark the lines I felt the most and savor the words better.

"Meet with me
not only in body
but mind, heart, and soul.
Show me in your touch
what you can't find in words.
These desires of mine
demands transcendent delights;
when we escape together
to that tender, trembling place,
I am here to see who
you truly are.
- An excerpt from the poem, 'Transcendents Delights'.

'Here At Dawn' is a poetry collection by Beau Taplin exploring the belief that there is nothing ordinary about one or this remarkable world we inhabit: there is wild beauty and there is poetry alive all around us. The secret is knowing where to look...and you can start right here.

Written with soft authenticity, 'Here At Dawn' by Beau Taplin is an extraordinaire collection of pronounced and dreamy poetry & prose-poetry. From themes of self-love and self-worth to experiencing divine love and portraying its beauty like never before, Beau Taplin crafts optimistic poetry with such finesse making them immersive and transportive.

There is deep reverence emitting from each line with aesthetic and vivid imagery only someone with a gift could compose and Beau has that gift. Normally, I wish that the poems are smaller in length because not everyone can nail writing lengthy poems since most of them repeat themselves throughout its length but I just kept wishing that there were more number of longer poems by Beau in this collection. I am not a huge fan of prose-poetry but I cannot deny I fell in love with the ones in this collection!

The collection comes with an aesthetically pleasing artwork with poetic quotes. They instantly stole my heart and I adore them all too much. One of those quotes that I will cherish forever:
All the universe laboured to bring us together. The rest is up to us.
To conclude, this is a collection that is worth checking out!

Beau Taplin is one of the writers I follow on Instagram, and it's been an absolute pleasure to have been able to read his latest published work ahead of its release.

And it does not disappoint. I admit to not reading enough poetry books, and Here at Dawn is something that I truly enjoyed. It has a lot of emotion to it that readers might find relatable. Grief, regret, depression, heartbreak, survival, etc. He's got them covered.

I especially liked True Fulfillment, A Resounding Success, The Gift of Goodbye, and Cruel Intentions. I had experienced most of what he wrote about on those poems and I felt comforted by his words. Reading it made me think about what my life has been like so far and it seemed like it was teaching me some life lessons. Which I certainly could use a lot more of.

One of the reasons why I usually get drawn by poetry is from the emotions that the poet conveys. And Mr. Taplin did not scrimp on this one.

5 out of 5 for this one, and if anyone else is looking for words to comfort you during trying times, I recommend Here at Dawn.

I found this poetry collection to be beautifully written and the sporadic images are breathtaking. This collection focuses on the ability of people to always change and progress. We all face our own unique challenges on our journeys in life; rather than suppress or hide our failures, we must embrace them. There is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel, regardless of how cliché it sounds. We must stay curious and continue to look for the good while simultaneously acknowledging and processing the bad.

This is one of the more comforting poetry books that I’ve had the pleasure of reading in awhile.

As a lover of lavish words, I truly felt the care and consideration that Taplin put into creating each poem. Their use of language creating scenery with the cosmic of emotions within us, all while being accessible and understandable even to the most casual reader.

The themes also range in topics that touch upon the variety of magic in living through the ups and downs of life. None of it feeling too repetitive or over killed as you continue through the book. I could go through the reading lost in the world Taplin created and want to savor it.

Additionally, the page breaks between the different sections in the book introduced full pages of colors and textures that came as a refreshing surprise. Each feeling like an abstract art piece. So that all together, I found this book wonderfully packaged and perfect for cozy reading.

Today I am #reading: Here at Dawn by Beau Taplin (@beautaplin). A good book when you are in your feelings and I am in them tonight. I want to love and break and mend. I also adore these in between pieces of art.

Never had I read a poetry book as touching as this one.

The authors starts by addressing the reader telling them that when he was a young boy he would find wonder in all things around him, and that by the collection of these poems he hopes to encourage the reader to do the same - and you know what, he did just that.

I absolutely loved this book and will be picking it up as soon as it’s released. I will also be picking up his other two books.

This was a nice, quick, empowering work of poetry that I found fun while also encouraging me to find peace in myself and in finding magic in the world around me.

so i got into this expecting a regular "instagram poetry" book with flowery language and little else, but it was a pleasant surprise. the flowery language is present but with purpose. there's actual substance to these poems and passages and my personal favorites were: 'a needle and thread', 'true fulfillment', 'the gift in goodbye', 'self expectations', 'the pioneer', 'in this silvery moment', 'the magic trick', 'a shipwreck in a storm', 'a villain and a friend', 'a soft landing', and 'verses of birdsong'. these are the main ones that resonated with me. but there was the repetitive direct life advice which was unnecessary and added nothing new. it wasn't even hidden in the lines for the reader to figure out what the author is saying. i personally don't like that maybe others do. but overall, it was a decent read.
