Life has become too hectic what with all the advancements. It's all about multitasking and making the most of every second we have. Taking time to sit down, enjoy a cup of coffee and read a book seems like just a dream, or worse a waste of precious time. This book is about Mindfulness, specifically how it can be utilized at home and the its impact on your body and soul. It's beautifully designed, it brings to mind calmness and creativity. This book would make a great gift to busy friends and family.
Sadly, I was unable to download this book in time before it was archived and this I was not able to either read or review it. My apologies.
I liked reading this book along with all the bright colors overall whimsy and happy felling this book had. It would make a great gift for someone who is interested in mindfulness and how to incorporate that ideal into everyday living and your home.
I have been trying to do more positive things for myself since the Covid-19 outbreak and the subsequent lockdown in the UK, I saw this book and it immediately peaked my interest.
I really enjoyed reading the book, it was well laid out and the ideas were simple, easy and most were ones I could easily look to do or consider doing with a little effort and small spend.
I am very keen on mindfulness, positive thoughts and self-improvement now more than ever so this book was right up my street – it is 5 stars from me, loved the layout too and the short punchy chapters and ideas – very highly recommended!
A good book about mindfulness. I appreciated how it is organised and the style of writing.
It's easy to understand and a good introduction to mindfulness.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.
A wonderful read for the time we live in.How to have a mindful calming home.It also is lovely book to gift or just dip in and out of for some relaxing moments,A very enjoyable way to spend time.# netgalley#quartrobooks
If you are new to mindfulness this might be a good place to start. Lots of advice for being more present while at home whether doing chores, housework, DIY or just having some downtime. The book itself is pleasant and aesthetically pleasing, and could be read slowly and experimented with. I found it a little bit tiresome in places but I am not new to mindfulness or to enjoying my time at home. It would make a nice gift book for someone who needs to slow down a bit.
Sometimes you just need a reminder to relax and stay in the present. Lots of good ideas and tips for the home and for personal self care.
This book has come out at the right time, and is the perfect accompaniment to lockdown!
I absolutely adored this book! So many great points to think about and put into practice.
Ive really been getting into decorating/gardening/tiding and just generally sorting out my home due to being indoors a lot more - thanks to lockdown. This is the perfect accompaniment to lockdown!
I really love the way the book is broken down into sections, which would make it easy to dip in and out of when you need more inspiration. The opening pages of the book talks about how a house becomes a home, and what feelings and emotions can and should be triggered when being at home.
It gives some fantastic points of view, and ideas. I also love how it links it all back to the idea of mindfulness - being a keen buddhist too I loved all the links to buddhism too.
I also have to mention the beautiful artwork throughout. I don't know how, but the imagery manages to make you feel calm and helps you to picture the most perfect situations around the home.
The only downside for me, is that I was really enjoying reading, so would have liked the book to have been longer!
I will definitely be buying the hardcopy to keep on my bookshelf to refer back to as and when.
In the current version, I do see the vision of the book. It has a lot of potential. The way I imagine it to be is in terms of a book that can give you the time and mental guidance to meditate as you are reading the book. It is a really brilliant idea.
Two things I hope happen are all custom art to illustrate the specific thought and maybe some guidance/activity to think about at the end or beginning of each thought.
Marie Kondo meets John Kabat Zinn, in this book of few pretensions, or at least should, where some ideas may be interesting, but only if you have no previous information on the subject.
Marie Kondo incontra John Kabat Zinn, in questo libro di poche pretese, o almeno dovrebbe, dove alcuni spunti possono essere interessanti, ma solo se non avete precedenti informazioni sull'argomento.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
As much as I wish I could rate this book higher, I was fairly disappointed in it. It was a bit like drinking a glass of water -- somewhat nourishing but without any real substance, taste, or benefit a few minutes later. I loved the idea of it and I already do work at being mindful at home. Perhaps it's best suited for someone who has never had any thoughts at all on the topic or read any other books, but it just seemed absolutely bland and the advice was mostly common sense. There are a few ideas that might be new to some, like to be present when you cook and take some deep breaths, same as when you wash dishes or fold laundry (think of the people you're folding laundry for, stuff like that). Try to have a restful area to sleep, and all the normal advice about that. Mend things. Pets can be nice. Shrug. I don't know, it just felt like someone was chattering away at stuff that nobody should really need to be told. There are no photos and the artwork is sparse and just basic drawings. The section on choosing color was short and didn't give real information about the effect of colors on mood or mindfulness, and contained no color. 🤨
For me, this was two stars for "it was okay" but it's a book I immediately deleted from my reader after finishing it, and didn't highlight anything. Those who are brand new to mindfulness may find it far more helpful.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for review.
I was really looking forward to read this book by KATE PEERS, but unfortunately I am unable to do so. There is no option to "send to kindle device/app". If it is possible to rectify that issue I will be glad to have my hands on this book.
Albeit, the book cover is beautiful. Mindfulness is just what we need at this time of our lives as we are home bound and are going through a tumultuous time. This book is here at the right place and right time.
Hopefully I can read it soon and then rate it accordingly.
It is inappropriate to rate a book without reading it but I will give 2 stars for the cover and title.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
This isn’t a book that I would normally pick up, but it was a pleasant read. I probably won’t read this again, and I am not interested in buying a physical copy when it is released, but I think it may make a nice gift to someone moving into a new home.
I would describe the book as a short, coffee table read - something that can be picked up as and when. Nothing in the book was groundbreaking, and mostly common sense.
A quick read and without the woo-woo jargon that most mindfulness books fall into, I would recommend this book to someone just getting started in mindfulness or even someone just curious about the topic. Chapters are short (averaging 3 pages) and talk about the various areas of your household where there is the opportunity to bring mindfulness, or more awareness into what we're doing at any given moment. There are some suggestions about decluttering and sprucing up a bit, but mostly this book focuses on accepting what we have - the imperfections and all.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to preview this book.
A timely offering coming September 1, 2020.
An introduction to finding mindfulness at home. During these covid times all of us have been pushed to slow down and accept that things are changing. To help things change for the better—whether that be in our own lives or on a larger scale no one knows.
However, by taking action and setting the scene at home to be mindful good things can happen.
I enjoyed this introduction to mindfulness and feel it will be an excellent addition to the mindfulness series by Quarto Publishing Group and Leaping Hare Publishers.
Thanks to NetGalley for my digital copy.
The musings were a bit broad for me, but I did enjoy the calming tone of the book. The calls to mindfulness in home life routines were very sound.
A great book focusing on creating a calming and peaceful home. This book is filled with reflections, meditations, and queries for you to use in order to create a mindful home. I found it to be very useful and the various meditations to be great for bringing peace into my home. Focusing on various aspects of not only the home but the mind, this was a great book for anyone who wants to create a calming space for themselves within their home. A great read and definitely something I would recommend for everyone to read!
A great coffee table book on mindful thoughts to relax at home. Ideal, especially now during a pandemic or most homeowners are isolated or in quarantine.
I love Quarto’s Leaping Hare Press’ series on mindfulness, and found the latest so apropos for our times. Home is where we’re spending more time due to COVID. Author Kate Peers helps us better inhabit this space through with 25 strategies to feel more peaceful and content there.
Being more present, reducing stress, embracing the simple, making small changes in décor, layout or aura, repairing and cleaning, eating healthfully, sleeping better, and just plain doing nothing can help us relax deeply into ourselves and our lives. 5 of 5 Stars!
