Description
Mindful Thoughts at Home is a lovingly gathered collection of reflections appreciating the often un-noticed details of what makes a house a home.
Mindfulness is about being truly present and fully engaged with whatever we’re doing at that moment, anchoring ourselves in the present. We aim to be aware of our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, letting go of distraction and judgement. We usually focus on the past or the future, but with mindfulness, we pay attention to what is around us, things that we would normally take for granted. So why not put some focus on your home environment? The layout, ambiance, and décor in your home can offer a perfect complement to the sense of wellness that mindfulness creates. It is our home, after all. This book contains 25 thoughts that let you use mindfulness to improve your living space, from decorating and cleaning to how to harness the light during the day and sleep more comfortably at night.
By reading this book and embracing the mindfulness within it, you will be able to create a delightful and comfortable environment that will enrich your life and soul.

I love Quarto’s Leaping Hare Press’ series on mindfulness, and found the latest so apropos for our times. Home is where we’re spending more time due to COVID. Author Kate Peers helps us better inhabit this space through with 25 strategies to feel more peaceful and content there.
Being more present, reducing stress, embracing the simple, making small changes in décor, layout or aura, repairing and cleaning, eating healthfully, sleeping better, and just plain doing nothing can help us relax deeply into ourselves and our lives. 5 of 5 Stars!

The musings were a bit broad for me, but I did enjoy the calming tone of the book. The calls to mindfulness in home life routines were very sound.
A great book focusing on creating a calming and peaceful home. This book is filled with reflections, meditations, and queries for you to use in order to create a mindful home. I found it to be very useful and the various meditations to be great for bringing peace into my home. Focusing on various aspects of not only the home but the mind, this was a great book for anyone who wants to create a calming space for themselves within their home. A great read and definitely something I would recommend for everyone to read!
A great coffee table book on mindful thoughts to relax at home. Ideal, especially now during a pandemic or most homeowners are isolated or in quarantine.
A quick read and without the woo-woo jargon that most mindfulness books fall into, I would recommend this book to someone just getting started in mindfulness or even someone just curious about the topic. Chapters are short (averaging 3 pages) and talk about the various areas of your household where there is the opportunity to bring mindfulness, or more awareness into what we're doing at any given moment. There are some suggestions about decluttering and sprucing up a bit, but mostly this book focuses on accepting what we have - the imperfections and all.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to preview this book.
A timely offering coming September 1, 2020.
An introduction to finding mindfulness at home. During these covid times all of us have been pushed to slow down and accept that things are changing. To help things change for the better—whether that be in our own lives or on a larger scale no one knows.
However, by taking action and setting the scene at home to be mindful good things can happen.
I enjoyed this introduction to mindfulness and feel it will be an excellent addition to the mindfulness series by Quarto Publishing Group and Leaping Hare Publishers.
Thanks to NetGalley for my digital copy.
This book has come out at the right time, and is the perfect accompaniment to lockdown!
I absolutely adored this book! So many great points to think about and put into practice.
Ive really been getting into decorating/gardening/tiding and just generally sorting out my home due to being indoors a lot more - thanks to lockdown. This is the perfect accompaniment to lockdown!
I really love the way the book is broken down into sections, which would make it easy to dip in and out of when you need more inspiration. The opening pages of the book talks about how a house becomes a home, and what feelings and emotions can and should be triggered when being at home.
It gives some fantastic points of view, and ideas. I also love how it links it all back to the idea of mindfulness - being a keen buddhist too I loved all the links to buddhism too.
I also have to mention the beautiful artwork throughout. I don't know how, but the imagery manages to make you feel calm and helps you to picture the most perfect situations around the home.
The only downside for me, is that I was really enjoying reading, so would have liked the book to have been longer!
I will definitely be buying the hardcopy to keep on my bookshelf to refer back to as and when.
Sometimes you just need a reminder to relax and stay in the present. Lots of good ideas and tips for the home and for personal self care.
A good book about mindfulness. I appreciated how it is organised and the style of writing.
It's easy to understand and a good introduction to mindfulness.
Recommended.
