I’d say, to a degree, I’d recommend this book to others. It was written from the heart and I feel a lot of us out there can really relate to the authors past experiences in one way or another. It was written quite simply, but that’s the beauty of it. I will say I was hopeful for more - more of in practice things than anything else. But that’s not to necessarily say this book is lacking. Simple, beautiful and effective.
I received this e-book free for a genuine review.
Book: “Walking Through This: Harness the Healing Power of Nature and Travel the Road to Forgiveness” Sara Shulting Kranz, Harper Horizon, 2020.
Book Review by Mary Mikawoz
I found this book by Sara Shulting Kranz to be interesting. I found that her in-depth knowledge of trauma and PTSD is based on the fact that she has had to deal with it and go through it herself.
She understands more than just an empathetic listener. I won't repeat her life story other than to say that she has gone through a lot. We all do but that is what is so wonderful about this book is that she gives you steps to deal with the trauma.
Sara gives you written meditations that you can read and then practice. After you are done the guided meditation, she gives you some questions to consider as you take your information gleaned from this process and reflect upon any and all insights. She asks that you write about it.
I find it interesting she mentions a little fact that since 2012, the number of people meditating in this world has tripled. That is significant and shows that there is value in following through with inner work including listening to your intuition.
After learning the six steps, she asks you to forgive yourself, the perpetrator and also the world.
In the meantime, Sara has also implemented a number of practical techniques of walking in nature including retreats through the Grand Canyon or standup paddle boarding on water. From Sara doing her work, she is able to give practical advice and not that just of a psychologist or counsellor who doesn't have any personal terms of reference and can only reflect back to you what they have heard without any concrete suggestions or relevant life event experiences or tasks to pursue.
I give this book a 4.25 out of 5 for being a useful book that was interesting to read. She is on social media like Instagram and Facebook. She has her own website as well.

As far as really reading and absorbing this book, I'm kind of saving it. I've spent my entire life adult life in extremely stressful work. 27 years in law enforcement and then 17 in Public Health Emergency Response (through the Ebola, H1N1 and now COVID 19 pandemics). When I finally retire in 2 months I plan to use this book as my guide to healing all of those years of stress. I'm waiting so that I can read, then act on what I've read because I'll have the time and energy to actually do that....instead of now when I'm just plain exhausted by my job.
Looking through the pages I can see that this will be just want I want it to be. Motivating, inspiring, thought provoking and healing. Let go of all of the toxins in my cells from so many years of shiftwork, stress, conflict, death,.......
Thank you #netgalley for letting me read #WalkThroughThis.
I just downloaded this book and was very excited to start it. I'm a few chapters in and just cannot get into it. I am going to refrain from reviewing this book on other mediums.
I loved this book. There is so much to gain from reading this. There is really something that everyone can take and learn from in this book. I loved how there was mixed media with the journal entries. It was beautiful.
A wise warm guide to forgiveness.A raw real open look at the trauma the author faced hear she shows how to heal how to let go of the pain,#netgalley Walkthrough this
This book has some really good elements. While I skipped over the eastern and new age-y stuff I did learn a lot and felt more inspired to get out into nature more.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review.
As a nature lover, this book intrigued me right away. Having been through a major trauma as a child and then having a former husband cheat on me with other men, I could relate to some of the emotions and thoughts this author had. What the author says about forgiveness is such an important lesson for trauma survivors. Overall, I enjoyed this book although it was a bit too "spiritually" for my taste.
This is the type of book that you can choose what you would like to get out of it. I read the books and realky enjoyed it. There are spots to journal and work on the things that the author brings up. She brings up stories that involve ptsd while showing you ways to bring your past out of you to help yourself. She does bring up Chakra's and finding your inner self. Even if you are a devout Christian, you will get so much out of it, even if you bypass the meditations and some of the thinking she brings up. Anyone that wants to be a better self and to lay down the past, this book would be very helpful to you.
