This is part of series but can certainly be read as a stand alone book.
It is fairly short and moves along at good pace keeping you engaged all the way.
The characters are well developed and the ineraction brings a smile to your face.
Well worth a read if you want something quick.

The charming renegade detective, Lieutenant Beaudry, does it again. Using his fearless tactics and personal connections with other tough cops and a few friendly gangsters, he finds the trail from a murder to a child pornography ring. With a few amusing detours into sentimental romance to lighten the darkness.

A runner's death leads Montreal cop down the rabbit hole🚨🚔

For a shorter length police procedural, I thought the plot was pretty compelling. Montreal police detective Lieutenant Beaudry takes full advantage of the contacts he has made on both sides of the law to nab the murderer of a woman runner in the Mount Royal area of Montreal. If he can help solve other crimes and rescue vulnerable kids along the way it's all to the better. His live-in girlfriend seems to be his secret weapon and happy to help with an information hack here and there.

His investigation's extension into child exploitation was an interesting addition but the author only really skims the issue. The poor original murder victim sort of gets left behind if not totally forgotten once endangered children come into the picture.

I thought it was a good plot and I liked Beaudry, maverick though he is. Not a classic or must-read, but an enjoyable chase. I would happily read other works by the author.

Thanks to Books Go Social and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Thanks to NetGallery and the publishers for the ARC.

At the beginning of this book I thought it would be a typical murder mystery with a serial killer. I like that there was a change and it also became a search to not only find a murderer but to also bring down someone in the child pornography industry.

I love Robert and Pat's relationship. Both are involved in the same industry and very understanding of each other. I want to tell her im sorry what shes going through but i know she is just a character HaHa.

This was a 3.5 for me. I enjoyed the read but I personally cannot say that I loved it. There was something missing for me.... Also i was really annoyed that every time i touched the screen it would skip a couple of pages. I think there has to be some better scrolling on the ebook.

I think I would have enjoyed this more if I had read the earlier novels in the series. It stands alone as a story but the character development was a bit light, probably on the assumption that people had read the others. It’s a good story and I think demonstrates well how hard it must be for police and detectives to set and retain boundaries with the victims of crime. A good book.

Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eARC.
Lieutenant Beaudry gets involved in the case of a murdered woman whose body was found by a motorcyclist. This seems to be connected to a pedophile gang, when a young girl goes missing. He works together with a police friend who is on the hunt for the leaders of the gang.
I hadn't read the previous books in the series, but it was easily read as a standalone. Beaudry is a very likeable character in a steady, loving relationship. He is a bit of a renegade when it comes to following rules, but he gets results. I love the fact the story takes place in Montreal, as I lived there for a couple of years. On the whole I enjoyed the story, with the odd joke thrown in making it a good read.
