This was an enjoyable, easy to read romance in which you can lose yourself in.
The characters are wonderful and brought to life beautifully with the authors fantastic way with words. Adrian and Alyson are complete opposites, but that seems to help this relationship blossom.
Steamy and sweet all at once, this book is the perfect form of escapism that we all need. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
Very easy fun read. The love story is a page turner and has you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Highly recommend. Great job Brisa Starr. I will look for your books.
🤔Not right fit for me: immature heroine & too heavy on steam💦
For me, this story could have been a more enjoyable read but for two major issues.
The heroine:
I did not like the heroine, her brash, dare me attitude and her constant assertion that she is not open to a relationship. Lady, you protest too much and you need to grow up and not blame your parents! For me, she brought the story down as I was not sure she deserved a devoted partner.
Heavy emphasis on steam:
I liked the handsome, well off and creative male lead, ready to take romance seriously and trying his best to remain true to himself. His need a wife and baby stat! trope line could have been fine but, by the middle of the book the plot had devolved into l-o-n-g bouts of steamy encounters and annoying posturing by the heroine: that's where even skimming could not keep me interested in the couple's courtship. I found it very slow going. I guess I am the wrong audience for this type of "romance."
Thanks to Books Go Social and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This book was romantic and intense. It loved it from start to finish! This is a must read.
This is my second time reading a Brisa Starr book and I'm even less impressed than the last one--Sweet As Pie. That one had lots of typos and juvenile "pie" jokes. This one has even more juvenile characters, from the heroine living in her car (which she just abandons in Colorado at the end, apparently? With all her stuff in it?) because she's mad at her parents for waiting until she was in college to divorce, to the "moody" hero who won't stand up to his parents over a bizarre inheritance clause that the parents probably could have had overturned in court. There's just too many WTF moments (he adores spending the summer with his aunt, so auntie leaves for the summer the minute he arrives) and corny porn-movie dialogue in the sex scenes to make this one worth reading.
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.
Well written romance. Interesting from the first page. You really get into the story and feel connected to the characters.
Beautiful cover, that's what caught my eye first.

Wow! This is my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. Adron has a secret - in order to get his inheritance, he needs to marry and have a child by his 30th birthday - the pressure is on from his parents to find a bride, but he wants to marry for love. Alyson is a nomadic housesitter with a love for hot sauce - determined not to put down roots due to some family trauma in her past. When she comes to housesit for his aunt, there is immediate attraction. Not only is it super steamy - it's also funny and entertaining. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
Books are so subjective, like art often is. It's not often that I give a review of a book based on its "technical merit" alone. But thus book is the exception because I found the writing to be very bad. You can just see the author's lack of writing experience on every page. I finally gave up reading at around 20%.
This was my first experience reading this author’s work and I’ll be reading more judging from this read. A fascinating, interesting plot that drew me in immediately. The story flows well and Adron and Alyson were well-developed characters that were thoroughly engaging and quite enjoyable to read. There’s a message buried in this book that was thought-provoking – sometimes we need someone else’s perspective to open our eyes and see things differently than what our hearts feel, especially if it’s concerning people who are role models that we look to for answers. I’ve always liked to believe that everything happens for a reason and this book very aptly paints that picture. I look forward to more from this author. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.
This book has some of my favorite ingredients in it
Broody and grumpy musician
Arranged marriage related to inheritance
Free spirit And a little immature I would add and gipsy troubled heroine
The h and H come with a past and their insecurities
The romance slow burns nicely
Nice read indeed
If I have to find a flaw the first the charpter are difficult bordering with boring and TMI on backstory.
Well edited
4 stars
If you are looking for a hot and steamy romance book this is the one for you. It introduces you to a young woman who does not believe in commitments and who flits from job to job as a housesitter. The love interest in the story is a gorgeous (of course), hunky, very rich man whose parents are demanding he marry and have a child before he is 30 and time is running out. That being said the story moved in a fast paced way. You meet a lot of fun characters and smart, snappy dialogue. There is a lot of humor in the book and lots of other saucy scenes. Lots of conflicts and secrets are included. It covers it all. I was warned in the book description about the love scenes so be prepared. If this kind of book is for you, you will love it. I give it 4 stars. It is a book that holds your interest from beginning to end.
This was my first book by Brisa Starr and I feel like I need to read another of her books before making broad judgements, but this book was a little too dark for me. The main male character, Adron, was very dark, negative and broody while Alyson, the main female character, is the opposite - she is bubbly, bright, positive. I felt like Adron's negative traits overshadowed the book and kept the whole vibe darkened.
Alyson was hired to housesit for Adron's aunt during the summer and Adron was staying in the guesthouse for the summer (like he does every summer). The attraction between these two was instant. One problem though - Alyson believes in always telling the truth and Adron is omitting one fact about him. Although Adron didn't lie to her, I believe Alyson went overboard in her reaction - that was my one issue with this book - would someone really freak out the way she did?
I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions stated above are mine without biases.
This was a very steamy romance. It was well paced and the characters were enjoyable to read about. I haven’t read any other books by this author but Adron & Alyson’s romance had me hooked from the start.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a copy of this book.
I wanted to like this book, but I really didn't.
I couldn't relate to the characters. After learning Alyson's "trauma", I just wanted someone to tell her to grow up. Nothing happened to her. Nothing was done to her. Somehow, she managed to turn something that happened to her parents into a big traumatic experience for her, which allowed her to dismiss them from her life. The only person she thinks about is herself. Not because of something terrible that happenes in her life, just because she's conceited. She's not into adventure, she's just irresponsible.
Adron.... I foud him more human, but still, he needs to grow a pair and tell his parents to f... off.
The only character I really liked is Aunty Jemma.
As for the story, maybe it's because English is not my first language, but I just can't believe people talklike that, other than in porn. The sex scenes were not hot for me, on the contrary, they mostly put me off, to the point I started skipping them altogether.
Thanks NetGalley and the author for my ARC.
If you like a hot "saucy" romantic comedy then you'll love His Secret. What more could you ask for than a hot, brooding alpha, a sexy firecracker and small town named Carefree, Arizona where everyone knows your business! I love small town romances and this one is no exception.
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for a free copy to review.
I wish to thank NetGalley and Books Go Social Publishers for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Alyson, is a house sitter who travels all over and enjoys being alone and doing her own thing. Then she arrives in Carefree, AZ where her employer Jenna's nephew is also staying in a casita on the property for the summer while she is away. At first meeting she is blown away by his crazy blue eyes, hot body and the sizzle that seems to be between them. Alyson, does not believe in true love, but a summer fling may be a good way to pass her time... Except Adron has to fall in love and marry to get his inheritance.
I loved this. It distracted me from the stresses of every day life. Fabulous. It was a really lovely read.
This is the first time I’m reading this Author. Whilst it is instant attraction and steam, this novel is definitely a very slow burn romance. This book is very well written and improves as it goes along in the storyline. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but was so glad I stuck with it and enjoyed it in the end. It has some of the steamiest words, yet most romantic sentiments, that I’ve read in a while.
Adron is a deep brooding musician, that enjoys his summers every year at his Aunt Jenna’s home. He also has an inheritance waiting for him that has unusual requirements that needs to be fulfilled, before he is able to inherit. His parents, who have been absent, both physically and emotionally, most of his life, are putting intense pressure on him.
Alyson is a professional house and pet sitter, who travels the country and teaches remotely on-line, to pay back debts, and fund her nomadic lifestyle. She is a gregarious free spirit, who has no interest putting down roots. She is often reckless in nature, but enjoys living in the moment.
Whilst this book is a stand-alone romance, there has been room left for a next book with characters from this story and town to continue.
Thank you to Brisa Starr, Green Butterfly Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this Book. I am giving a honest opinion of this voluntary review of an Advance Reader Copy.
I liked the story of a rather unusual inheritance a lot. I esp liked both characters. He was very intriguing and I liked the conundrum he was in. But I didn’t like the whole Auntie bit, there was endless text all about how much he loved spending time with her, yet as soon as he arrived she left?! Odd.
Generally, the style didn’t work for me. Some of it read like lists of things that had happened and so was staccato. I prefer a more descriptive style. But others may like this approach.
