A young male student and his attractive female Professor. One of them reports a rape but who is really telling the truth!
DI Adam Fawley and his team have to try and keep the reputations of both of them. However, someone is out to stop DI Fawley and stop him for good.
This book twists and turns and then surprises you at the end. Couldn't put it down!

I really enjoyed this book. There was more than one story going on and once again the way it was written kept you turning the page!! Cara Hunter writes fabulously the way the story keeps you hooked.

Adam and Alex Fawley have had tragedy in their lives. He is a DCI and his wife is a heavily pregnant lawyer.

DI Fawley has a good team that he works with. They managed to put away the Roadside Rapist, however he is now out on license. The threats made in court many years ago are coming back to haunt him and his wife. Their secret is safe between themselves.

DI Fawley’s new case is the sexual assault against a 6’ 2’ male rugby player but all doesn’t seem right. The accused is a female Oxford Professor. Someone is lying and it is upto him and his team to dig deeper and find who is telling the whole truth.

There are twists and turns right through this book and I have to say a jaw dropping finish.

Looking forward to seeing this on tv as the rights have been purchased and very well deserved success to for Cars Hunter.

But it if you like fast paced page turners.

Where do I even start?! This was so epically good!

I just love it when a story is told through different formats, maps, personal chats, news-headlines, twitter-feeds, medical reports, police reports, interview recordings, podcasts, and what not! I think this takes the reading experience to a whole new level, makes things look more plausible, and it's so rare to come across such, especially in thrillers, and did I mention I love it?! And what's really, really great is the attention to details, all those different formats and yet everything is just perfect, like, seriously!

Two different investigations are going on in this one (score!), in just under 250 pages, and both of them equally well-done! How often does that happen?! Also, this book broke the shock capacity for me, I was reading with eyes as big as dishes, lol! All the characters were consistent with their distinct personalities, and I just love this team!

I've been shouting from the rooftops since long how super-good this series is! It is one of the only two thriller series that I've been following religiously since book one and I'm yet to be disappointed. Truly, honestly thankful to the author for this series. If you like thrillers and well-done police procedurals, and you haven’t picked up this series yet, you are doing yourself a disfavour. Recommended one hundred percent!

Thanks to #netgalley, @carahunterauthor and publishers for the eARC of #TheWholeTruth. All opinions are my own. Pub date Feb, 25th.

A student accuses a tutor of sexual harassment but in this case the accused is a female tutor. Plus Fawley’s wife fears repercussions from a recently released prisoner. A fast paced tale with interesting characters

What a fabulous read! 2 separate incidents, one a sexual assault and the other a murder. Both unrelated and both gripping right to the last page. Written beautifully and in such a tantalising way, dropping clues like breadcrumbs in Hansel and Gretel but following them.doesnt necessarily take you in the right direction. Kept me guessing to the end. The perfect crime mystery!

Sexual assault, revenge, lies, deceit, and half truths. 'The best way to get away with a lie is to wrap it up in a whole lot of truth'..
An entertaining, page turner of a tale. Lots if characters bringing different sparks and emotions to the story.
A perfect story for a cold winters evening.

The 5th in the Adam Farley book, however would work as a stand-alone as Cara gives a detailed breakdown of the characters at the start.
I have loved all of the books in this series but felt this one was not the best. At times it felt disjointed and almost as if it had been written in a slightly different style. However having said that it needs to be remembered that this book was completed during the 1st UK lockdown and everyone was feeling unsettled and out of sorts so the fact Cara has completed this book is amazing and perhaps a little understandable that it’s not quite the same as her previous books.
Adam and his team are investigating a sexual assault claim against a male student at a prestigious Oxford college when a young woman is found a two the bottom of a railway bridge. The team begin to investigate both incidents.
The story flits from the investigations into both from various characters view points and also Adams wife Alex’s point of view as the investigation takes a dramatic turn.
The ending definitely leaves way for the next in the series and I cannot wait for it to be released.
I read this book on a kindle and unfortunately some of the picture images of mobile phone conversations, podcasts etc were unreadable luckily this didn’t distract too much from the story
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book

This maybe the best book in the DI Adam Fawley series so far! And that is a big call as they are all fantastic books. I could not turn the pages quick enough, I had to know what was going to happen and how it would all play out....no spoilers but you don't want to miss this one.

There is so much going on in The Whole Truth. We have a claim from an Oxford student of sexual assault by a professor - a case like none you have seen before. At the same time Adam and his wife are dealing with their past coming back to haunt them. It is twisty and unpredictable and Adam certainly has his work cut out for him this time.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy of this book to read.

The latest installment of the DI Adam Fawley series, 'The Whole Truth' is just as thrilling as all the others. While I don't think you need to have read the other books you would get more from the relationships of the characters if you had read the previous four books. Cara Hunter is brilliant at creating fast paced thrillers with twists and turns that you never see coming. There are two cases going on at the same time, the first a seemingly straightforward sexual assault case and the other is a suicide. The sexual assault is a really interesting play on the he said/she said situation you normally read, this time the assault victim is the male student of a very beautiful academic who is the darling of Oxford Uni. As with all of Hunters books the situation is never quite what it seems at first. I could not put this book down it was fast paced and incredibly well written. I loved the mix of text, WhatsApp messages between characters as well as evidence within the novel. It was really good to read the progression of the other characters involved in the case that fans of Hunter will be familiar with. I was really pleased to hear that the characters will be bought to life on screen in the future as I think they'll be must see television. I look forward to reading the next installment.

Full of twists and turns, The Whole Truth tells the stories of two crimes, intertwined into one investigation. A lecturer accused of sexual assault of a student - but is everything what it seems? And when all the evidence points to DI Adam Fawley at a crime scene, is he really as innocent as he says he is? There's a lot going on in these pages and it kept me questioning everything until the epilogue!

This is book 5 in the Adam Fawley series, and just to be upfront, I am a huge fan of this series and have read all of the others!

You can read this book as a stand-alone, but it does add a bit of depth to the book if you have read the previous books and know a bit of the backstory of each of the characters.

The main story is concerned with an accusation of sexual assault. Marina Fisher is a high-profile professor at Oxford, a high-flier known for her influence and Ted talks. Caleb Morgan is one of her students, who also occasionally babysits Marina’s son. After a boozy celebratory night at the university, the police receives an allegation of sexual assault... but it’s been made by Caleb against Marina. The police begin to investigate, hindered by social media, the press, and influential families, and a rising storm on social media - but who is telling the truth?

A good twist on the usual he said / she said take, this is definitely worth a read. The subplots in the story are also good and move the overriding story arcs along, mainly involving old cases coming back to haunt the team through the medium of a true crime podcast.

A great read, and a great entry in the series! This can be read alone but I would recommend the series as I’m enjoying it very much so far!

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Amazing! Cara always delivers and this story was brilliant. It had me wanting to keep going to see what would come next. Very easy to get into and loved it all. Very surprised by the ending

4.5 Stars

This felt like a cross between The Bill and Broadchurch with a little Criminal Minds vibe, and I loved every bit of it!

There are two storylines in this story. At first, I was a little doubtful about whether Cara would be able to pull it off well, but my goodness did she do it justice. The two cases in question are an alleged sexual assault of a male graduate student by his female professor and the murder of a young woman found on the tracks.

It took me a little while to fully get into the story but only because I was unfamiliar with the characters since this is the first book of the series I am reading. There is a quick summary of the police characters at the start of the book which I thought was excellent. If like me, you are new to the series or have forgotten them from previous books, you will appreciate it.

Cara's writing style is thoroughly engaging and captivates you in a way that you are unable to tear yourself away from the pages. The story features one of my favourite elements which is a podcast. The true-crime podcast, coupled with the mixed media elements adds a layer of realisticity to the story. The story starts a little slow, but it lays the foundation well for the second half where it really picks up.

I would have loved to have more page time with the Fawley's at the end, but the ending was satisfying nonetheless. If you enjoy fast-paced police procedural/mystery novels with twists turns throughout, you will likely love this one.

Book number 5 in the DI Fawley series and my fav crime series I've read, I absolutely love it!

This book has two storylines, one is a sexual assault on a boy. He claims his uni teacher,a woman, sexually assaulted him!

The other is a murder 🙈

Another book by the wonderful @carahunterauthor that I devoured 🥰 the style of writing, the characters, the flow of the book, everything, it's all just brilliant. DI Fawley's team are so good!. They are such a great team that work together to get honest results, each character bringing something different to the book.

I am so happy I got to read this book before it's released. I am already excited for book 6 now too. This book 'The Whole Truth' is available now for pre order and it's out March 18th. Annnnnnnd this series is been made into a TV PROGRAMME!!!!!! Cannot wait!

Absolutely superb from start to finish, a real page turner that I struggled to put down. I will definitely be reading more from this author

The tables are very much turned in this book when a male student accuses their female professor of sexual assault. Usually when you come across this sort of storyline, it’s usually a female student and a male professor so my interest was well and truly piqued when I saw that it was the other way around.

I like how the story is set out where we see interviews with the accused and the person doing the accusing. There is also two storylines running throughout, one more closer to home to Fawley and his partner, Alex. With the other storyline, a case from the past is outlined through a podcast. It all made for a more engaging read that makes it stand out from others. I also love how the author does a brief summary at the beginning of who is who, not only does it help readers that may be joining this series further into it, but it is also a refresher for readers like me, who have read many books between the last one in the series and the latest one.

The Whole Truth is a perfect title for this story. It will have you questioning who is really telling the truth and my mind kept changing through out. Its great seeing the police doing what they do best with the cross examining as well as good old detective work. The pacing and tension was great and had me tearing through the pages for the conclusion which was well worth the read alone.

This is the fifth and latest book in the Oxford based DI Adam Fawley series.
I've loved all of Cara Hunter's books and so was happy to see that she continues in the same style. The writing is interspersed with texts, Twitter posts, emails, police reports etc and I'm a huge fan of her style of writing and presentation.

There are two concurrent storylines in 'The Whole Truth' and we soon realise that neither of these stories can be taken at face value. This is a book full of could-possibly-be-cliched events that are absolutely turned on their head by Hunter, leading to a fast-paced and gripping read all the way to the end.

The first storyline is the investigation into a complaint of sexual abuse of a student by their college professor. But in this case, the victim is a six foot, rugby-playing male and the attacker, a middle-aged, attractive and highly academically regarded professor.

The second storyline centres around Adam Fawley and his pregnant wife Alex. It involves the case that introduced Adam and Alex some 18 years previously.
Gavin Parrie known as the 'Roadside Rapist' has been released from prison. It seems that he may be involved in the case of a missing woman, who is later found murdered. How are the murdered woman, Adam Fawley, Alex Fawley and Gavin Parrie linked? I don't want to give away any spoilers, but needless to say, the connection is gruesome and chilling and makes for a fantastic read.

This series has been commissioned for TV and I cannot wait to see how it plays out on screen.

This is my first Cara Hunter book but it certainly won't be my last.
I wasn't aware that this was part of a series of books when I first read the blurb but it can easily be read as a stand alone book. This is in part thanks to the very handy recap section at the start of the book.
I really wish that more authors would do this.
This had me hooked from the very beginning, something that can't be said for all books in this genre that I have read recently.
I couldn't wait to read more to see how it would all turn out.
This was really effectively done.
I can't wait to go back and catch up with the four earlier books in this series now, as a result of reading this.
Cara Hunter is definitely an author that I will be keeping an eye out for.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
