My family loved the recipes in this book and it takes us back to Disney when we cannot physically go to Disney. The recipes are easy to follow and easy to make. We have loved bringing a little Disney home with us. We also enjoyed the stories about the parks and the layout of the cookbook by each park. A wonderful way to bring Dole Whip and Mickey Beinegts into your home!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishing house and the author for allowing me an advance copy of this book.
Ashley Craft’s The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook is a wonderful cookbook filled with fun and exciting dishes from the American Disney Parks. I really loved the book but I would have liked to see more pictures and more fun book layout.
The book is divided into two parts. In Part One, we learn some brief but fascinating history about the parks and their food. There’s also a helpful and comprehensive section featuring the various tools like steamer baskets, thermometers, and electric pressure cookers that you will need to whip up Disney Magic in your own kitchen. Part Two is the Magical Recipes which is divided by park with chapters on Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s California Adventure.
I am a huge Disney fan but there is so much I didn’t know about the wonderful world of Disney. I learned so much! I love all the great history and facts about the various American Disney Parks. Craft’s writing is approachable and friendly.
The book features a variety of recipes including cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, drinks, and sandwiches. There’s a great balance between sweet foods and savoury foods. The dishes include simple treats like Dole Whip, Haystacks, and Strawberry Kakigōri. There is more complicated fare like Bavarian Cheesecake, Gaston’s Giant Cinnamon Rolls, and Raspberry Rose Mickey Macarons. There are timeless classics like Mickey Pretzels, The Grey Stuff (a super simple pudding and cookie concoction), and Turkey Legs. There are also fun new items from new attractions like Blue Milk and Green Milk from Star Wars as well as Cheeseburger Steamed Pods and Night Blossoms from Pandora.
The recipes are clear and easy-to-follow. Many of the recipes also come with helpful tips for ingredient swaps or to enhance the cooking experience. I also like that many of the ingredients are pantry staples and fairly inexpensive. Craft begins each recipe with a little fun fact about the food or location or even a ride located nearby! For instance, did you know that Disneyland’s Bengal Barbecue used to be a juice bar called “Sunkist, I Presume”? Did you also know that Disney uses smells to enhance guests’ experiences while at the Parks?
There are several lovely full-colour photos of the foods. I like the appropriate props and related colour schemes that nicely enhance the pictures. However, there needed to be more photos of the dishes because there’s a lot of text and not enough visuals. Moreover, while I like the book’s colour scheme and cute park maps, I wish the layout had a more fun design to really enhance the magic of Disney. The recipes would have been nicely elevated by a more vibrant design.
The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook is a fun cookbook that will be a great treat for any levels of cooks and Disney lovers.
🥄 🥄 🥄 🥄 spoons out of 5!
So many amazing recipes I want to try. Honestly it’s amazing. I have never been to Disney anywhere yet... but having these recipes for parties and family enjoyment is wonderful in the meantime.
This cookbook is cute. I don't know exactly what I was expecting. I've been to Disneyland many times and specifically remember certain food items. I was hoping this book would include some of those popular dishes. However, this book did not include many of that familiar dishes-it did however include many other popular favorites. I don't like that many of the recipes are somewhat detailed and take a while to complete.
This cookbook has been a godsend this year, My family does a yearly trip to Disney Land, and of course, that wasn’t really in the cards this year. We were going to take my nephew for the first time this year. We’ve been viewing videos of the rides, but it’s really not the same. But this book has been great. The recipes are clear and concise, and easy to follow. Every recipe I have tried has turned out almost exactly as I remember from the park. It’s been a delight to share some of these memories with my nephew. I would have liked more pictures, but I’ve really appreciated this recipe book. I look forward to owning a physical copy of this.

I love going to Disney World. The best part of the parks is eating the different types of food. Our best memory is staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The food was amazing at Boma. This book shares the favorite recipes from not only Disney World but also Disney Land. Anyone familiar with the parks will recognize the Dole Whip, Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Beignets, Churros, Mickey Pretzels, and Funnel Cakes. The back of the book has measurements and conversion tables. If you are like me and love eating at Disney, you will definitely love this cookbook.
I think this cookbook was a real winner. Perfect for the cookbook collector, the Devoted Disney Fan or the home cook that just wants to add a bit of Disney magic to their kitchen, this book is beautiful to look at, fun to read and an inspiration that will have your mouthwatering and your mind eager to get cooking. A array of recipes is provided and there are many lovely photos to accompany them. Add in a bit of Disney history, a bunch of fun facts and some helpful tips and tricks and you have yourself a solid cookbook that educates and entertains. Personally I have made (and Loved!!) the Churros and Gaston’s Giant Cinnamon Rolls (which were AMAZING!!). Definitely looking forward to trying more as soon as I can. I will give you a heads up that a lot of these recipes require a deep fryer and some others will lose their "Disney" appearance without having special items like Disney themed cookie cutters or a Mickey shaped waffle iron and a few ingredients might be harder for others to find locally. Still, I really liked it and I think many others will too.
As a huge Disney fan and former employee, I was really looking forward to the title. While I found some of the recipes inspired and inventive, many are unremarkable and similar recipes can be found elsewhere. My biggest objection to the cookbook as an avid cook and budding bakery owner, was the fact that an ice cream machine was required for several of the recipes. I can't imagine the home cook having one of those lying around the pantry. The recipe I was looking forward to the most is the famous Dole Whip which mentions an ice cream machine. The cookbook does list equipment that should be in your kitchen before the recipes but the ice cream machine requirement comes out of left field. Disappointing for the avid Disney fan but casual ones will most likely be satisfied.
We are definitely a Disney loving family so we couldn't wait to read through this cookbook!
My husband and I enjoyed the selection of recipes in this cookbook. We picked a few to try. Ok he did so he could prepare them. I am more of a baker so I made the cookies.
We would have liked a few more pictures of the finished product but it wasn't too big of a deal since you can google the name of any Disney food item and there's tons of online pictures. Disney is pretty strict on their standards so all pictures are similar.
💜Bengal Beef Skewers (the sauce is good on chicken as seen on drumsticks)
💛Tiger Tail Breadsticks
💙Carrot Cake Cookies
The sauce for the Bengal Beef Skewers were amazing for that meal and for some chicken that my husband prepared later in the month. My picky-ish eaters loved it!
They weren't fans of the Breadsticks but more for us they were so yummy!
The carrot cake cookies were so decadent and so rich!
There was a few other recipes we may try in the future like Gaston's Cinnamon Roll, Mickeys Pretzel and the Clam Chowder to name a few I jotted down.
I definitely recommend this cookbook for those that love the parks and want to recreate their favorite dish at home!
I was excited to receive a free copy of this e-book from Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.
I like the way this book is set up. The recipes are easy to folllw. I have already tried one of the recipes and if was delicious! I look forward to trying others!
For years, I've seen photos of friends at various Disney Parks showcasing favorite eats. Things like Dole Whip.
Even when I was able to visit one of the parks (many moons ago), I was strapped for cash and didn't have the chance to really try the food at Disney. It sure smelled good, though!
While it may be a while before I make it to one of the parks, this cookbook will let me sample different options.
Definitely a great addition to any Disney fan's cookbook shelf.
For anyone who is a hugh fan of the Disney Theme Parks, this is a must have. Food scents create the strongest memories. Being able to recreate at home the foods that evoke wonderful memories is precious. The photos of those Disney treats are also well done.
This is not a book for those watching carbs and calories. However, I already have in mind a few people who would cherish this book as a gift.
I enjoyed using some of the recipes from this book alongside my children. They were charmed to be taken back to Disney via the creations tantalizing their taste buds. The recipes were well written and easy to follow. We are frequent Disney visitors and were familiar with many of the dishes. Would recommend to Disney fans. More pictures would have been welcomed,

What a great gift for the Disney fan in your life. I really enjoyed this book but the introduction was too long.
I enjoyed the maps of where the food was found also. I think this book needed more pictures.
Thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for the ARC. Great book!
4 stars
This book is a lot of fun and I love the thought Ashley Craft has put into both the recipes and the organization. There are maps showing where in which park you'll find each treat and it has me longing to go back to the Happiest Place on Earth. There are a few recipes here I hope to try, though I will say that as someone without much of a much of a sweet tooth this book has more sweet treats than I was expecting.
Many thanks to Adams Media and NetGalley for the advance copy.
This is a pretty detailed cookbook that has recipes from every US Disney park. My biggest issue was how long the introduction is. It felt like the same paragraph about how important food is at Disney was repeated five times before the actual cookbook started. I also thought that the design would have been better if it put the specific materials you needed on the recipe itself rather than every material in the whole book at the beginning. Overall though this was detailed and fun and great for someone that hasn’t cooked before. You can really tell that the author is obsessed with Disney.
This book is so fun. It has all the recipes from the Disney parks so you can bring a little magic into your own home. I wish there were more photos, that’s usually what convinces me to try out a recipe,
I haven't been to a Disney park in a long time but I recognize some of recipes and can't wait to try others. I also like how the author gives a list of equipment you'll need and what park the recipe is from.
This is an exemplary body of work that is magical and came at the prefect time during the pandemic . I was fortunate to grow up near Disneyland and we spent every holiday and Birthday at the park enjoying these foods. I was thrilled to receive this for review . Disney is a big part of our lives and the Disney food is a important fun part of visiting the park. We believe in the magic of Disney and how it uplifts a family in joy. This book will bring the joy of Disney magic to your family .
This is a outstanding collection of 100 wonderful Disney park receipes . Many are from our childhood and beloved to so many of us Disney fans. I loved how the book was formatted. The listing of appliances, utensils and baking needs is very detailed and well done. The receipes are timeless memories of the many foods we all love from all the different lands, from snacks to the famous dole whip. From Adventure land BBQ to New Orleans Square . All the different lands are represented as well as California Adventure and even Epcot.
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own. This is a must buy for your home collection of cookbooks and Disney books. I will be buying copies for Christmas Presents. This will be a treasured book for all Disney lovers.
There are 100 recipes from the different Disney parks. It begins with a brief history of the different parks. It then gives you a list of tools that will need to create these fan favorites. I love that in recipes are not only broken up by the park, each chapter also begins with a map showing where you can purchase the treats. So many recipes, but several of them require equipment I don't have. So if you are a cooking novice like me or have limited kitchen tools this book may not be very accessable.
