I really enjoyed reading through this book. Some "bible study" books like this are really wordy and hard to read through without spending hours of time trying to digest the lesson. I like Nicki Koziarz's way of writing and going through the Genesis story of Noah. Reading this has definitely changed the way I look at this story. I think, because the story of the flood is such a well-known story, especially for those of us who grew up in church, that its easy to gloss over what we can learn from the account in the Bible. NK goes through how Noah responded to God and to the situation he was in (both before and after the flood), and how his responses can teach us a lot about how to respond in times of doubt (listening to God, rising above doubt, paying attention to God's faithfulness were some of the decisions she outlines that stuck with me the most. With all of the crazy and hard things going on in the world right now, I think this book is a great resource for this year, especially if you're really struggling with where God is in all of the pandemic / political craziness.

Nicki Koziarz gets real from the first line of this tender book. As a woman who struggles with hopelessness and unbelief, Koziarz shares her story and welcomes the reader's own story. Encouraging without being preachy, this book invites the reader to be honest about their feelings and fears with themself and with God in order to meet the unending love and grace of the Father in those places.

In flooded, Nicki Koziarz explores the life of Noah and what we can learn from his story. She encourages readers to make these five decisions:

Walk with God
Listen to God
Rise above the doubt
Remember who is in charge
Find the familiar faithfulness of God

Each section focuses on a specific decision (above). While it was an easy read, and Nicki included interesting stories, I didn't underline/star/highlight anything within the book.

Nicki is one of only a few authors that I will read immediately no matter what the topic is. She has a way of making her readers feel like they’re having a one on one conversation. Flooded is my favorite of her books so far. She’s so honest and vulnerable about her own struggles and guide the reader in such a gentle way to God’s Word for the answers. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Flooded by Nicki Koziarz dives into the hard parts of life and the doubt that creeps in. She then uses the story of Noah to tackle 5 decisions to make when that doubt starts to settle in. There is an accompanying study guide and videos on YouTube that will help you dig even deeper. I recommend using those along side the book. Flooded will take you deeper into Noah's story than just the storybook version from your youth. It is full of practical application and life stories that will resonate within your heart. If you have ever been in a place of questioning or feeling as though something has to give, Flooded is a book that should not be missed.

This gentle, but powerful book helps give us tools to draw us closer to Jesus, especially when we feel stuck or in a time of grief or doubt. Nicki Koriarz takes us through the story of Noah while sharing relatable stories from her own life. She doesn’t just leave us with stories of Noah or herself, however, she provides us with a practical structure to look at promises from the Bible we can depend on.

Loved this book and the author’s writing style. It was encouraging; sometimes convicting; and also inspiring, I’m glad to have this book on my shelf to read again in the future and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Like other books I have read by Nicki Koziarz, Flooded is down to earth, challenging, and enlightening all wrapped up in one. In this book, the author offers transparency to her readers about her own struggles and challenges in life. She includes stories that range from humorous to heartbreaking to emphasize the points she is trying to make. I really enjoyed her use of the account of Noah in the Bible to offer real life advice on wrestling with doubt in our own lives. It was also apparent that she thoroughly researched the content for her book.

I was given a copy of this book by the author and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

Doubt, we all experience more days than some. In this Bible study book, Nicky korziarz choose Noah and from the moment God tells him to build the ark until the very flood. With an honest and personal insight, my personal opinion is to take your time while reading the book, even when the chapter seems so easy to read. They are much-hidden truths we need to grave and it will make a difference. Although she took several chapters for each of the five decisions, it is on the bible study manual we get to study with more detail.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free digital copy for review, all opinions are my own.

The timing for this one was perfect for me as I'd just signed up for the online bible study based on this book, so obviously I was thrilled to see this available for request. Nicki is the sort of bible study teacher you want to follow and listen to as she makes every story applicable to the now, tying them into our current lives and situations. On the surface, it may not seem like we could have much in common with someone like Noah, but guess what? Turns out we do!
While I enjoyed learning more about Nicki's personal life and seeing how this helped her build a stronger connection to Noah, I would have enjoyed a better balance between that and the theology. However, this was still a very enjoyable book and I definitely learned from reading it (which proves that even when you think you know a story you heard many times as a child, there's always something further to discover).
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a complimentary copy. This did not impact my review.

Wonderful. Eye-opening. Thought provoking.

Flooded, by Nicki Koziarz, was a wonderful book to read during the life changing event happening in my life.

I was shocked to think a book on Noah could be so deep and bring out points I never saw. We all grew up singing the Ark song and reading about the flood, but Nicki Koziarz brought it to a new stage. I’m going through some hard things, but I can see now how Noah felt more overwhelmed than I do. He was asked to build something never seen because something never heard of was coming and he was told by someone not everyone knew.

If you are walking through hard things or have walked through hard things (and if you haven’t hold on because you will) this is the book to help you learn 5 steps from Noah and his hard thing to help you through it.

It’s is a must read for 2021 and all we have encountered in the last year.

Flooded is an amazing book about how to lean in toward God - even through difficult times - by coming to a closer understanding of Noah's story. Simple techniques are described for erasing doubt from your mind and trusting that after this dark night is over there will be a brighter tomorrow in store.

I have been praying desperately for the changes that I want to see in my life and at this point in time it feels like God isn't answering the way that I would have expected and I am getting discouraged. This book helped to renew my faith in the face of adversity and trust that God's plan for my life will unfold better than anything I could have imagined myself.

Thank you NetGalley and Bethany House Publishers for the gifted book!

Synopsis: “Just because we are flooded with doubt doesn’t mean we have to be destroyed by doubt. Where there is doubt, there is still hope, which is the way to rise.” Have you ever doubted God? Have you ever felt like you’re drowning in life’s circumstances? I think most people could say they’ve been there at some point. In her book Flooded, Nicki Koziarz takes us through 5 practical steps for overcoming doubt in hard times. You’ll get to travel through Noah’s lifetime with building the ark, surviving a worldwide flood, and trying to rebuild his life afterward all while seeing how that applies to personal doubt and hope today.

Analysis: Whatever season of life you may be in, I firmly believe this book is for you. Nicki Koziarz takes a look at the life of Noah and how it applies to us today in a unique way. With short chapters and a conversational style, I loved the biblical truth and the practical applications all throughout the book. You get real life experiences from someone who knows hardship well. It even helps you apply this truth to the past couple of years! I think that’s something we could all use in a world that has changed drastically. Maybe you’re not experiencing doubt and hardship right now; maybe you are. Whatever you’re facing at this moment, this book gives truth and hope that you’ll want to store up for a lifetime.

In a time of doubt, uncertainty, and seeking Gods will in my own life, this book helped me to hold onto God and continue to seek him through uncertainty. The author is a good balance of knowledgeable and relate-able. Very interested in more of her books.

Nicki writes as though we are sitting at her farm talking about everyday issues over coffee. I really enjoy the stories she shares from the farm and also she shares her experiences from the heart. There are many takeaways from this book that I can see implementing when the doubt in my life gets too overwhelming.

Thank you Bethany House and NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bethany House for giving me the opportunity to review Flooded by Nicki Koziarz.

Nicki writes in a very personal manner that makes Flooded a very easy read. She draws on personal experiences to connect with the story of Noah found in Genesis. She includes practical advice for Christian living through each of the examples.

Nicki did her research for the book including a trip to the Ark Encounter which features a full-size Noah’s Ark, built according to the dimensions given in the Bible, spanning 510 feet long, 85 feet wide, and 51 feet high, a modern engineering marvel.

As a part of the review I did not use the workbook, which may have been beneficial as I felt like something was missing as I read the book. I kept wishing the author would go deeper - the surface was just being scratched and then she would move on to the next chapter. The personal stories could be shorter so that the topics can be discussed further.

Also as I read the book I had no desire to pick up my Bible - this is a pet peeve of mine. I feel that Christian authors and teachers should inspire us to open our Bibles, to seek truth. (I am a big fan of the Bereans) At the beginning of the book the author could have asked the reader to read the account of Noah in scripture. Many only know the abbreviated version that they learned in Sunday School.

I know, I could have chosen to do that on my own initiative but I am frustrated with the pop culture version of Christian living, I want to go deeper and raw about life.

So I would suggest that you read this book along with the study guide because I think you would benefit from it. There is also a video study that includes 6 sessions, the first one is below. All these videos can be found on YouTube.

No more hard things,” author Nicki Koziarz writes in Flooded: The 5 Best Decisions to Make When Life is Hard and Doubt is Rising.

If you’ve been grappling with hard things this book is one you will appreciate. Unpacking the familiar account of Noah, Ms. Koziarz explores doubt, unbelief, and disbelief with refreshing candor, humor, and faith.

Delving beyond pat answers to life’s difficult questions, Flooded is a book that will help you rediscover hope and remember God is with you in every circumstance. This is one book I’ll read again!

I am currently going through Flooded with Proverbs 31 Ministries, and I am really enjoying it! If you liked Nicki's other books 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn't Quit and Why Her?, you will not be disappointed with Flooded! In this book, Nicki unpacks 5 decisions to make when life is hard, and you are doubting. These decisions are: to walk with God, to listen to God, to rise above the doubt, to remember Who is in charge, and to find the familiar faithfulness of God. Each decision includes three chapters. I read one decision per week, but you could easily read the book at a faster or slower pace.

The most meaningful part of this book for me was where she talked about how we can beg God for "no more hard things", but life still does not go the way that we were hoping. It made me think about how often that has happened in my life, and how I responded in those situations. Nicki encourages us to be brave, give it some time, and to remember who you don't want to be. She reminds us that "who you are becoming today will determine who you will be tomorrow. Make the decision again and again to keep rising above the doubt".

Flooded is filled with personal stories and life application. Each of the five decisions is also tied into the story of Noah. We often think about Noah's story as a child's story told in Sunday School, so it was nice to dig a little deeper into the story. I found myself relating to the doubt that Noah probably felt, as well as seeing him as a role model on how to listen to and walk closely with God.

I would highly recommend this book for personal study, or for a small group. It is an engaging study that I have gotten a lot out of!

I received a copy of this book through Net Galley, in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
