Description
Nicki Koziarz knows what it's like to whisper those words to God. She understands what it feels like to be flooded by hopelessness and hard situations, wondering if it will ever stop.
Hard circumstances often stir something so destructive in a soul: doubt.
Through the painful loss of her mom to a brain tumor and her brother to suicide, she has learned that if doubt is left undealt with, it can cause the presence of unbelief to flood our lives--to the point that faith becomes unrecognizable. In the midst of her pain, Nicki looked through the lens of the biblical account of Noah and discovered five decisions a person can make to help deflect the destruction of doubt.
When you are wrestling with doubt and fighting back hopelessness, Flooded will help you:
• Quiet the fear that God won't come through by discovering the difference between wishful thinking and biblical hope.
• Resist the urge to control the uncontrollable by finding peace in between the problem and the promise.
• Find the familiar faithfulness of God in His Word when it feels like nothing is normal and everything is falling apart.
The reality of hard times holds a decision for each of us to find hope. And the decision to find it is yours. But you don't have to do it alone. It's time to rise above doubt, together.

Nicki has done an amazing job of using basic principles to help us fight our doubt. She shares her personal stories and situations like she I would to a close friend over for dinner. She has let us in her life and shared the story of Noah in an all new perspective. This is a keeper book not just one I pass on to a friend.
Nicki has done it again! I’ve read this book twice and each time I’ve read it, I’ve connected to different parts of the gook. Nicki writes in such a relatable way, that it’s easy to read, but thought provoking. It helps to read in this time when there’s so many unknowns and uncertainties all through the story of Noah.
I have learned so much through Nicki Koziarz and the studies God has laid on her heart. She is such a sweet, humble, talented woman of God. That being said… get ready for digging deep into scripture and learning. If you are just reading the book you will still be challenged. In the Study Guide expect to be memorizing scripture, learning more about yourself and a lot about what God has for you to learn. I’ve written this review before I finished the study but wanted to let others know how good it is!
I received a complimentary ARC of these books from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
Not all writers can make you feel like you have personally known them for years, but Nicki Koziarz can. She is not afraid to be transparent and share her struggles in an effort to help us know that we are not alone. To have doubts is human, but through the message in this book, Nicki uses the story of Noah to walk us through five decisions to grow our faith. This book comes at such a perfect time as we all are dealing with the current state of the world, which can let doubt creep in before we know it. You need this book in your spiritual toolbox. “Hold tight. Your rainbow is coming.”
Everyone experiences hardships and difficulties. During these times, it’s easy to lose sight of God. We wonder, “Are you still there?”. In Floooded, Nicki Koziarz, takes us through the story of Noah. She gives anecdotal stories that are so relatable. It’s like having a conversation with a friend. She is real.
We are given 5 decisions that each one of us must make when doubt rises when life gets hard.
You will learn the differences between Biblical principles and God’s promises. We are reminded that through all our difficulties if we hold tight to God’s promises, we will find a rainbow in the end. I can’t recommend this book more highly.
The timing of this book & this message is truly miraculous! I think it's safe to say that many of us have questioned God through the last calendar year. When circumstances are unknown & unpredictable, we feel flooded.
Noah is all too relatable & Nicki seamlessly weaves this centuries old narrative into our everyday lives. Her use of personal stories & biblical knowledge bring Noah to life in today's tensions, questions, & doubts, and the cord that runs through it all is the true character & faithfulness of our great God.
This book met me in the depths of my soul, in the tender places of grief & brokenness & doubt. Through the pages of this book, Nicki showed me God's Kindness in His faithfulness to Noah & challenged me to find His familiar faithfulness in the threads of my own life. Following God & rising above doubt are choices we must make every single day. Flooded gives you practical, realistic practices to help you choose God -- even when life is hard and doubt is rising.
Read this book. Ask the questions in the deepest parts of your soul. I pray you find our personal, intimate God as He waits for you to choose, even now, to follow Him.
Thanks to Bethany House for the free book.
I'm not sure that I've ever read a Christian living book that focuses on the life of Noah and the decisions he had to make while following God. I enjoyed the insights and research Koziarz put into this book. She related her own stories with her fixer-upper farm with the decisions Noah had to make when choosing to do the ginormous task God gave him. I appreciated her vulnerability and how she chose to relate the things in her life with what God asked Noah to do. I was challenged by Noah's steadfastness. There was so much that went into the Ark building and living that is glossed over sometimes, especially in the Sunday school type of settings. I enjoyed how Koziarz dug into specific verses and even words to give context to what was going on around and with the ark building. It helped me understand Noah more but, most importantly, it helped me understand God better in this context.
This was such a timely book for me. I have been struggling with things being "impossible" and this helped me to reconnect with my walk and reading and knowing anything is possible with God. I love the way Nicki teaches and explains things. I have read several of her books and highly recommend.
Every book that Nicki Koziarz writes is great. Her way of reaching the reader by sharing personal, heartfelt experiences and emotions is truly a blessing. In this excellent book, the reader is given opportunity to draw closer to God in every moment. Great book to give as a gift. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.
Headline: Whether doubt or fear “every season holds God’ familiar faithfulness”
God always offers a rainbow 🌈 after the rain.
I was very excited to read this book I’ve never read a study on Noah but have heard many Sermon on his life, well mostly the flood and the Ark.
The author mentions Noah story starts in Chapter 6. She also breaks down as my Pastor taught us read a little before then dig into our starting point.
So far we know the people sinned, God found Noah the only righteous one, gave him a God size assignment and Koziari says Noah walked with God.
Oh how I wish at every invitation from the Lord I can be as obedient. This book is about how when “we decide to keep walking, God will keep working”.
He did it for Noah He’ll do the same for us as long as we look for it, seek it and long for it.
I received this book from the publisher through Netgalley for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book and accompanying study guide is currently a Proverbs 31 study. It is the topical study of Noah and recommended for those feeling overwhelmed in their daily life as a believer. It is a basic, simple study for anyone to follow. I would recommend it for young believers or those without extensive biblical knowledge. Book is useful without the study guide. Study guide should only be used if you have the book.
I am really glad I got the opportunity to read this book. Nicki is a talented writer. This book is separated into five parts on what to do if the reader is experiencing doubt. I like how she also uses personal stories,
I received this book from Netgalley and all my thoughts are my own.
This is the first book I’ve read by Nicki Koziarz, and it won’t be the last! She’s my new favorite faith-based speaker and author! When I heard her speak at She Speaks Online in 2020, I instantly knew I wanted to see hear more from her. She is warm, funny, and relatable, and this book reflects her personality.
I enjoyed this book so much that after I listened to the audiobook from my library while reading an e-book advanced reader copy, I ordered a printed copy!
Who is this book for? Anyone struggling with doubt or unanswered prayers. Maybe you’re struggling with answered prayers that don’t seem to follow a logical path or you are starting to doubt you heard God lead you this way. This book’s for you.
Who isn’t this book for? The person who’s faith is so rock-solid that you have never once second-guessed anything.
Thank you, Bethany House and NetGalley, for an advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
I really like bible studies by Nicki Koziarz. Her approach, style and message usually really resonate with me. She has a way of reaching deep to touch on the situation in your life even if she doesn't mention anything close to it in her book.
This is a study of Noah with real life applications to any life in various seasons. The author brings scripture alive in your life. Her approach is real and beyond genuine. Her style is casual and coffee with girl friends but it packs a punch. Her message may just be what you need to hear at this time. We all go through hard seasons whether it's hard-hard or just a little uncomfortable hard, this just may be the book for you.
I have read this book as part of the bible study Proverbs 31 Ministries was doing, The book was written by Nicki Koziarz. The book has an excellent theme about dealing with your doubt with the Lord. Nicki does a great job in using Noah as her focal point and uses him as someone who we can learn from when it comes to dealing with doubt. I recommend this book for either reading it by yourself or using it for a Bible study.
In Flooded: The 5 Best Decisions to Make When Life Is Hard and Doubt Is Rising, Nicki Koziarz uses the lens of the account of Noah to discuss five things a person can do when doubt is creeping in. This book came out at a very timely time as we have all lived through the many storms of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. I appreciated the honesty that she writes with. Doubt is something that can be hard to talk about. We often feel like we are alone when we have those moments. It is good to know you are not alone.
I received an electronic copy via Netgalle. All opinions are my own
This was not what I thought it was going to be about, but it was much better than I expected. One can really feel for the author and it helped me feel connected to her memoir.
No more hard things,” author Nicki Koziarz writes in Flooded: The 5 Best Decisions to Make When Life is Hard and Doubt is Rising.
If you’ve been grappling with hard things this book is one you will appreciate. Unpacking the familiar account of Noah, Ms. Koziarz explores doubt, unbelief, and disbelief with refreshing candor, humor, and faith.
Delving beyond pat answers to life’s difficult questions, Flooded is a book that will help you rediscover hope and remember God is with you in every circumstance. This is one book I’ll read again!
Favorite quote: I had to figure out how to get that belief-filled girl back. And I did.
My goodness. What a read Nicki Koziarz tells Noah's story like I've ever read. This was an amazing way to dive deep into Noah's story and glean lessons on Faith and Trust from his life weaved with amazing yet relatable stories sure to make you chuckle or laugh out loud depending on your sense of humor
This book like i was having a heart to heart discussion with a good friend
I would totally totally recommend this book to everybody and it's definitely going on my faith books.
I am currently going through Flooded with Proverbs 31 Ministries, and I am really enjoying it! If you liked Nicki's other books 5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn't Quit and Why Her?, you will not be disappointed with Flooded! In this book, Nicki unpacks 5 decisions to make when life is hard, and you are doubting. These decisions are: to walk with God, to listen to God, to rise above the doubt, to remember Who is in charge, and to find the familiar faithfulness of God. Each decision includes three chapters. I read one decision per week, but you could easily read the book at a faster or slower pace.
The most meaningful part of this book for me was where she talked about how we can beg God for "no more hard things", but life still does not go the way that we were hoping. It made me think about how often that has happened in my life, and how I responded in those situations. Nicki encourages us to be brave, give it some time, and to remember who you don't want to be. She reminds us that "who you are becoming today will determine who you will be tomorrow. Make the decision again and again to keep rising above the doubt".
Flooded is filled with personal stories and life application. Each of the five decisions is also tied into the story of Noah. We often think about Noah's story as a child's story told in Sunday School, so it was nice to dig a little deeper into the story. I found myself relating to the doubt that Noah probably felt, as well as seeing him as a role model on how to listen to and walk closely with God.
I would highly recommend this book for personal study, or for a small group. It is an engaging study that I have gotten a lot out of!
I received a copy of this book through Net Galley, in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Nicki writes as though we are sitting at her farm talking about everyday issues over coffee. I really enjoy the stories she shares from the farm and also she shares her experiences from the heart. There are many takeaways from this book that I can see implementing when the doubt in my life gets too overwhelming.
Thank you Bethany House and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
In a time of doubt, uncertainty, and seeking Gods will in my own life, this book helped me to hold onto God and continue to seek him through uncertainty. The author is a good balance of knowledgeable and relate-able. Very interested in more of her books.
Wonderful. Eye-opening. Thought provoking.
Flooded, by Nicki Koziarz, was a wonderful book to read during the life changing event happening in my life.
I was shocked to think a book on Noah could be so deep and bring out points I never saw. We all grew up singing the Ark song and reading about the flood, but Nicki Koziarz brought it to a new stage. I’m going through some hard things, but I can see now how Noah felt more overwhelmed than I do. He was asked to build something never seen because something never heard of was coming and he was told by someone not everyone knew.
If you are walking through hard things or have walked through hard things (and if you haven’t hold on because you will) this is the book to help you learn 5 steps from Noah and his hard thing to help you through it.
It’s is a must read for 2021 and all we have encountered in the last year.
Flooded is an amazing book about how to lean in toward God - even through difficult times - by coming to a closer understanding of Noah's story. Simple techniques are described for erasing doubt from your mind and trusting that after this dark night is over there will be a brighter tomorrow in store.
I have been praying desperately for the changes that I want to see in my life and at this point in time it feels like God isn't answering the way that I would have expected and I am getting discouraged. This book helped to renew my faith in the face of adversity and trust that God's plan for my life will unfold better than anything I could have imagined myself.
Thank you NetGalley and Bethany House Publishers for the gifted book!
Synopsis: “Just because we are flooded with doubt doesn’t mean we have to be destroyed by doubt. Where there is doubt, there is still hope, which is the way to rise.” Have you ever doubted God? Have you ever felt like you’re drowning in life’s circumstances? I think most people could say they’ve been there at some point. In her book Flooded, Nicki Koziarz takes us through 5 practical steps for overcoming doubt in hard times. You’ll get to travel through Noah’s lifetime with building the ark, surviving a worldwide flood, and trying to rebuild his life afterward all while seeing how that applies to personal doubt and hope today.
Analysis: Whatever season of life you may be in, I firmly believe this book is for you. Nicki Koziarz takes a look at the life of Noah and how it applies to us today in a unique way. With short chapters and a conversational style, I loved the biblical truth and the practical applications all throughout the book. You get real life experiences from someone who knows hardship well. It even helps you apply this truth to the past couple of years! I think that’s something we could all use in a world that has changed drastically. Maybe you’re not experiencing doubt and hardship right now; maybe you are. Whatever you’re facing at this moment, this book gives truth and hope that you’ll want to store up for a lifetime.
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Content Warning: suicide, loss of loved ones
The timing for this one was perfect for me as I'd just signed up for the online bible study based on this book, so obviously I was thrilled to see this available for request. Nicki is the sort of bible study teacher you want to follow and listen to as she makes every story applicable to the now, tying them into our current lives and situations. On the surface, it may not seem like we could have much in common with someone like Noah, but guess what? Turns out we do!
While I enjoyed learning more about Nicki's personal life and seeing how this helped her build a stronger connection to Noah, I would have enjoyed a better balance between that and the theology. However, this was still a very enjoyable book and I definitely learned from reading it (which proves that even when you think you know a story you heard many times as a child, there's always something further to discover).
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a complimentary copy. This did not impact my review.
Doubt, we all experience more days than some. In this Bible study book, Nicky korziarz choose Noah and from the moment God tells him to build the ark until the very flood. With an honest and personal insight, my personal opinion is to take your time while reading the book, even when the chapter seems so easy to read. They are much-hidden truths we need to grave and it will make a difference. Although she took several chapters for each of the five decisions, it is on the bible study manual we get to study with more detail.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free digital copy for review, all opinions are my own.
