A little raindrop is afraid to fall from the sky and leave his dad. The dad explains everything will be fine and he needs to let go of his fear and everything will be fine. Eventually the raindrop does get over his fear and heads to the earth and everything end up just fine. This is a good book I think you could use it in a lot of different settings not just fear but maybe even losing a loved one. Great read!

This is the sweetest book!! I would recommend this book as a read aloud in the classroom or to have as a book to read to your children!! Father raindrop is helping his son be ready to drop down from the clouds. It goes through all the ways he is nervous, if it will hurt, or what will he land on!! The illustrations are wonderful. It makes it look like the drops are real and you the colors used are beautiful.

Very good rhyming scheme and adorable illustrations. I liked the idea, and I think it would resonate with children who are around Kindergarten, about to enter a new phase.

The idea that the raindrop could return right away didn't work for me, and I think many older children might not get that either.

There was a missing dialogue tag on page 19.

Good story and execution.

Don’t Be Afraid To Drop is an encouraging rhyming book of a little raindrop who is scared to drop. His dad tells him of all the wonderful things he has to share when he drops to the earth. I loved the overall message of this book, that even though we are afraid of change, change can be good. I also liked how it emphasized all raindrops have unique gifts to share. While, this book was cute and the storyline of the raindrop was original I feel overall this story has been done before. I would use this for SEL work as just to have in my classroom. Definitely better suited for younger readers.

I read this book with my three-year-old daughter and she really enjoyed it.

She is a little ahead for her age so the fact it is looked at as a book for years 4 and above was no issue. She loved the story and the illustrations were great too and really brought the book to life.

The book was well written and it was easy to understand - it is 4 stars from me for this one.

The metaphor of rain dropping is prevalent in this story to describe growing up. Kids might not understand this story because they have not had the life experiences, but adults might get a chuckle out of it.

Don’t be afraid to drop is a book about growth mindset. This book is about growth and change. It has beautiful pictures and a transformative message for all. This book promotes improved self-esteem and bravery. The illustrations are beautiful and sure to capture the interest and attention of all children. Not only does it present a wonderful message, it also, provides information to caregivers on how to continue to assist children with these skills. I highly recommend this book.

I read this book in exchange for my review on NetGalley.
This is a lovely story of courage and risk-taking. Who doesn’t worry about taking risks? I loved that it came full circle, and the drop found himself home again.

I really loved this one!

My son is too young for this book, he’s only 8 months, but he enjoyed the pictures and listening to me read it. I will absolutely read it again when he is bigger.

I was a little concerned about where this book was going (I know that sounds silly for a kid’s book!) because I wasn’t sure how they were going to handle the raindrop hitting the ground but it was a cute way of doing it and I think the raindrop being welcomed back by his dad was adorable and probably very reassuring for a child.

Don't Be Afraid to Drop by Julia Cook is a sweet story about rain drop who must leave his comfy cloud home to give of himself to the world below. Of course our little rain drop is nervous to make such a big change in his life, but his father convinces him to be brave and how he can make a difference to the world. This is an excellent book to use with elementary age children to show how children can accept changes and take risks in their lives. This is a critical social skill for students because so many are are apprehensive to take risks and with changes in their routine. I am an elementary special education teacher (self contained autism) and I can see using this as a resource to help teach this skill in my classroom. This book can also be used to help demonstrate the water cycle. I love when books can help explain many different types of things!

This was such a sweet little story about having courage and bravery. Perfect for kids who don’t like dealing with change or may be afraid to start something new

New life experience can be hard to handle, especially at the end of the year, if the child moves or another large life event happens. However in this clever book, children can find away to handle those life changes, by taking a leap and just letting their one of a kind light shine in their new setting.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

I love Julia Cook and how she uses fun stories to help kids uncover some cool truths about themselves - like how to take risks and growth mindset. At first I was hesitant about this book since the father raindrop was pushing his kid to take risks, but when the child drop came back I was okay with it. I will add this to my classroom library since it does teach a valuable lesson about using your personal gifts, taking risks, and the importance of know you have a safety net to help you.

This book is relevant and helpful to all age groups. Its inspiring message promotes bravery and builds both self-confidence and self-esteem.

A tiny raindrop loses heart when his father suggests that he let go of his comfy cloud and free fall to the ground below. He becomes frightened and insecure and a huge knot of fear fills his tummy. He has never been asked to plummet to the earth before and the whole idea scares him to death. He is very content living inside his cloud where he relaxes, plays with his raindrop friends, and feels very safe.

Wisely his father gently persists until finally with fear and trepidation the little guy builds up enough courage and parachutes into the unknown. What valuable life lesson will this tiny raindrop learn by letting go and having such a great bold adventure?

The book is sure to spark meaningful conversations on change, moving out of one's comfort zone, taking risks even though you are frightened and giving back. The illustrations are spot on, bright, vibrant and full of emotion. The author has included some very helpful parent/caregiver/ teacher tips at the end of the book. This book would be a lovely gift to give if a child is going through a life change such as a graduation or even a divorce. I highly recommend it.

This was a precious children's book about a raindrop afraid to fall from his cloud. The lessons about being brave and exploring new things will resonate with small children and adults alike. The illustrations are bubbly and beautiful. I particularly like the line "when I landed, I splattered, but it didn't matter, I'd helped a dry carrot get wet." I'd love to get this book in print for my son when possible!

I received an eARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A delightful and beautifully illustrated little book highlighting the importance of change.

It's illustrations help to tell the story of acceptance and change that will assist young readers in understanding that change is a factor in life but it isn't always a bad thing.
