Description

What happens when one little raindrop finds the courage to let go?

Way up in the sky, Hopp the raindrop is scared of change. Hopp loves playing with his friends, riding on clouds, and being happy with his safe, predictable life. But he soon learns that staying where he is limits the impact he can have on those around him.

“You have so many gifts to share with the world,
so many dreams to live.
Take a chance little man, let go of this cloud.
Discover the ways you can give.”

Don't Be Afraid To Drop is a wonderful book about change and transition. It acknowledges the feeling about change and gives great strategies. I really enjoyed the parent tips and the adorable illustrations. I already have a lesson plan idea brewing. This will be a much needed addition to my classroom library. Another winner, Julia Cook! Thanks National Center of Youth Issues and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.

This book is relevant and helpful to all age groups. Its inspiring message promotes bravery and builds both self-confidence and self-esteem.

A tiny raindrop loses heart when his father suggests that he let go of his comfy cloud and free fall to the ground below. He becomes frightened and insecure and a huge knot of fear fills his tummy. He has never been asked to plummet to the earth before and the whole idea scares him to death. He is very content living inside his cloud where he relaxes, plays with his raindrop friends, and feels very safe.

Wisely his father gently persists until finally with fear and trepidation the little guy builds up enough courage and parachutes into the unknown. What valuable life lesson will this tiny raindrop learn by letting go and having such a great bold adventure?

The book is sure to spark meaningful conversations on change, moving out of one's comfort zone, taking risks even though you are frightened and giving back. The illustrations are spot on, bright, vibrant and full of emotion. The author has included some very helpful parent/caregiver/ teacher tips at the end of the book. This book would be a lovely gift to give if a child is going through a life change such as a graduation or even a divorce. I highly recommend it.
