B.A. Paris has done it again! She kept me guessing (and second guessing) at who the killer was until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

This is my fourth try with this author and that is at least two too many. We are definitely not compatible. Some people think of the books as psychological suspense. I think of them as stupid women running around in circles. After reading about a third of the book I skimmed to the end and suspicions about this book were confirmed. I will not be lured in by any more blurbs of this author’s books. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.

Alice and her boyfriend, Leo, have moved into an exclusive area in London called The Circle. But, it is not as it would seem…Alice discovers a secret about their house…and Leo knew it!

Secrets…this story is full of secrets and lies! Everyone is lying to everyone else. But, as usual, there is a twist at the end that I did not see coming. Now, I am not a huge fan of Alice. I just did not find her as smart as she should have been and she is a tad bit dramatic.

I loved the dual narrators, Olivia Dowd and Thomas Judd. They both did excellent jobs with all the voices and the drama!

B.A. Paris has done it again! Need a good twisted thriller…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today!

I received this audiobook from the publisher for a honest review.

The Therapist was a mystery that kept me guessing. I'll admit I suspected the culprit before it was confirmed, but found myself frequently second guessing my choice. I thought Alice's character was brilliant in her questioning, although at times I personally questioned her sanity. The Therapist was another great book by B.A. Paris that kept me up at night as I could not put it down.

B.A. Paris is one of my favorite suspense/psychological thriller writers to read. So, when I got the invite to read/review The Therapist, I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I am glad I did because The Therapist was a fantastic book!!

The plotline for The Therapist is simple. Alice and Leo move into a gated community. Alice soon finds out that the previous owner, Nina, was murdered by her husband there a little over a year before. Alice finds herself drawn to Nina’s case and starts investigating it. She discovers that Nina’s murder might not have been so cut and dry. Alice also realizes that there are secrets in this community. What had Alice stumbled upon, and can she prove that Nina’s husband wasn’t the killer?

The Therapist starts slowly. The first few chapters build up Alice’s backstory and the relationships with her neighbors/Leo/other friends. The author also chose to introduce The Therapist right from the beginning, which caught my interest. Once those introductory chapters were over, then the book picked up speed. There was some lag right around when Alice was trying to decide if she would leave or not, but it wasn’t enough to slow the book down. It was more of a speed bump if that makes sense.

I was not too fond of Alice during the first half of the book. While I agreed with her reaction to finding out about Nina’s murder (which was in her house), I didn’t agree with how she dealt with it. She also came across as stalkerish during certain parts of the book (going in Tamzin’s house and eavesdropping was a huge one for me). But, my opinion of her changed after some critical events in the book. I felt terrible for her (considering everything she went and was going through). I also came to like her, which surprised me.

The Therapist was an interesting person. At first, I did think it was Nina meeting with people in her house. But when the locations started changing, I changed my mind on that. I will say that I was surprised at who The Therapist ended up being.

The mystery angle of the book was perfectly written. I couldn’t figure out who The Therapist was and how this person was connected to Alice. The author kept throwing out red herrings, which in turn kept me guessing. I didn’t figure out who this person was and was completely surprised when it was revealed at the end of the book. That was a huge plot twist in itself!!

The end of The Therapist was action-packed and filled with surprises. Not because of who killed Nina and why but because of a huge plot twist involving Alice. Again, I was taken by surprise. I was also a little irritated by it. She kept railing about Leo, but she wasn’t perfect…not by a long shot.

I enjoyed reading The Therapist. I would reread it!! It was a fantastic thriller/mystery that kept me guessing throughout the entire book.

I would recommend The Therapist for anyone over the age of 21. There is violence. There is language.

I can't believe I've never read anything B.A. Paris before! I know her previous book, Behind Closed Doors, is highly rated so I want to read that soon.

In the vein of Harlan Coben's The Stranger, Lisa Jewell's Watching You or Sarah Langan's Good Neighbors, The Therapist revolves around a close-knit suburban neighborhood. I would even go as far as calling this a locked-room mystery as the story stays almost solely within the community.

Alice and Leo have been dating exclusively for over a year and have decided to take their relationship to the next level - by moving in together in a newly renovated home in an exclusive gated community called The Circle in London. At first, everything seems grand but as Alice gets to know her neighbors, she learns a horrific secret about one of the previous owners, a therapist called Nina.

Alice begins investigating what happened with Nina at the house two years prior and it quickly becomes an obsession. Why? Because Nina is the name of her younger sister who died in a car accident along with her parents twenty years ago. She has never been able to move on from their deaths and makes it a personal interest to seek justice for Nina.

On the outside, The Circles and its residents seem perfect but Alice quickly learns that people aren't what they seem. They all have secrets and she learns that even Leo is keeping secrets from her. Alice doesn't know who to trust and the paranoia consumes her. Will Alice find out the truth about Nina? Is she losing herself?

I love that the book was told in two POVs, one is from the viewpoint of a therapist (but you don't find out who until the end) and the other is Alice's POV. The book wasn't really that climatic but I think the plot was great - it had me guessing until the very end and the ending was not what I expected at all! I liked that the two storylines tied up nicely at the end. I did not feel that there were any unanswered questions left at the end.

If you're looking for a slow-burn domestic "thriller" (that's more of a locked room mystery) then you might enjoy this book. Personally, I prefer thrillers to be darker, more complex and fast-paced but I did enjoy this book and would recommend it. I'm looking forward to checking out B.A. Paris' other books!

A huge thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and B.A. Paris for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

How well do you know your neighbors?!?

The Therapist was my first B.A. Paris novel, and I enjoyed this fast-reading domestic suspense. The premise: After dating a few months, Alice and Leo move together into a home on a gated circle Leo bought before Alice saw it. Soon she discovers a shocking fact about the home that jeopardizes her relationship with Leo. Much fear and suspicion ensue.

I liked that Alice’s thought process was spelled out so I could compare my theories to hers. For once, I figured out the perpetrator before the end … but didn’t anticipate the additional twists so I was still surprised. It was challenging to track the numerous characters - the neighbors on The Circle as well as Alice’s friends. And a couple of things about the mystery didn’t make sense to me.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the review copies; all thoughts are my own.

3.5* I usually like B. A. Paris books, but unfortunately this one wasn't it for me. I wasn’t invested, Alice wasn’t unlikable, she was irritating as F, and I just didn’t connect.

I really enjoyed this book!!

While I am familiar with B.A. Paris as an author I'm not sure I've actually read any her books though there are a few on my list. This is a neighborhood drama and it takes place in a small, exclusive gated community where everyone knows each other and their business. Alice and Leo move in together to take their relationship to the next step. While Leo is off at work, Alice tries to make friends with the other ladies (and gentlemen) in The Circle but she feels like they are not so accepting of her and she can't figure out why. That is until she learns the last occupant of her home was murdered by her husband.

Alice tries to become the neighborhood sleuth and starts asking questions that seem unwelcome. Things begin to unravel and Alice is convinced there is someone else lurking in her home.

This was a fast read. I thought I had the book figured out by the end but was way off, in the best way. I will definitely be putting more BA Paris books towards the top of my list after reading this! Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

Talk about suspense and intrigue! Be prepared to not do anything but read once you pick this book up! Full of surreptitious drama and intrigue. You will never be able to guess the ending of this book until you reach the end!

I received an ebook ARC from Netgalley and this is my voluntary, honest review.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5. This book was SO FUN! I love domestic thrillers with suspicious neighbours, so The Therapist was right up my alley. I’m pretty sure I thought I’d figured this one out about 1000 times. I did eventually, but only about five pages before the reveal… I was still proud of myself. This is a creepy, fun, summer read that will have you reading long past your bedtime.

I was so happy I got granted my first wish book from Netgalley!! I have wanting to read this book for a while! We are introduced to Leo and Alice, a new couple, and testing the waters with their relationship by buying a house in a gated community. I was very intrigued by this community as it seems very mysterious, and the way the houses were described seemed to be where everyone can see everyone and what they are doing in their house. Kind of like nosy neighbors all the time. As we progress in the story, you feel that someone is playing games in Alice and Leo's house. Maybe someone is just watching them when they sleep, but as the story unfolds, secrets that were once held dear come to light, and it is kind of creepy. It was not what I was expecting at all! Alice seems to be obsessed with what happened in her house and will stop at nothing to find the truth; even that means making her new friends upset. In a way, I loved how Alice became a crime junkie to solving this murder! This is one of those mysteries that you are glad you don't find everything out right away, so you can savor the story because not only is there one mystery to solve, there is another one that goes hand in hand with it as well.

This was a pretty quick read, it had short chapters and was fast paced enough to keep me wanting more to find out what happened. I also liked the added snippets from the therapist. Adding snippets from the villain always adds an additional element of suspense, which I love!

The atmosphere of The Circle reminded me of Desperate Housewives. Women gossiping, meeting for coffee, and doing yoga, I’m here for it!

I did think the person that was the actual therapist was a bit predictable, and while I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, there really wasn’t anything mind-blowing throughout the book. But the ending definitely took me by surprise! I’ve read all of Paris’ novels so far, and this is one of my favorites!

Just out this week is the latest from B.A. Pairs – a suspenseful thriller that kept me up all night reading so that I can finish it in one sitting!
I have to say that I think I’ve read all her novels and have liked some more than others (loved Behind Closed Doors!). I liked this one a lot!

Let me know what you think…and thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for my review copy!

I loved behind the closed doors…. But The Therapist didn’t meet my expectations like I thought it would. Still a great read and the ending was unpredictable.

Alice and Leo have newly moved in together, and are working to become a part of their small community. They soon learn about some unexpected events that happened at their new home, and that nothing is as it seems.

The Therapist is a suspenseful, psychological thriller where nothing is quite as it seems. Alice learns one thing about her neighbors, but then something else happens to make her rethink things. Her relationship with Leo also begins to unravel, while her fledgling relationship with her new neighbors struggles to take hold.

The book comes to a wild, unexpected ending that I didn't guess was coming. I recommend The Therapist particularly if you are a fan of B.A. Paris.

Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Alice and Leo can’t believe their luck when Leo finds this beautiful recently renovated home in an gated community. This fairly new couple is looking forward to starting their lives together, instead of long distance. Alice sets out to meet neighbors, while Leo would love to keep things to just the two of them. What is he hiding? As the dark history of the house emerges, Alice questions who Leo is and tries to piece this puzzle together but it’s made more confusing by stories given from different neighbors, not to mention a handsome stranger who Alice feels herself becoming attracted to.

I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. In typical B.A. Paris style, you are led down one road, up another and end up coming in the back door. Subtle hints, questionable happenings. Neighbors stories and motives just don’t add up, but then no ones story is as it seems. Quick read that Weill keep you guessing up until all is revealed!

Thanks to B.A. Paris, St Martin’s Press and NetGalley for this ARC. Opinion is mine alone.

I love B.A. Paris’ books and this one did not disappoint, it is a page turning thriller that will have you both doubting and suspecting everyone at different points throughout the book. Alice and Leo have just moved into a newly renovated house in The Circle, a gated community of exclusive houses. Everything they have always wanted, but as they say, the grass is not always greener….

As Alice is meeting the neighbors she learns an awful secret about the house they just bought, and she begins to feel a strong connection with Nina, the therapist that lived there before them. Alice becomes just a tad obsessed with figuring out what happened two years ago, the problem is, no one is talking about it. So many secrets, weird things are happening, and she can’t trust anyone. What will she do?

This might be my favorite by Paris yet, it was a read in one sitting because you have to know what happens kind of thriller, I loved it so much! There were a few twists in here, some I saw coming, some I didn’t, and I switched a few times who I thought was behind it all and overall this was so much fun to read. A great thriller that I highly recommend it.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the advanced digital galley and finished copy to review. This one is available now!

HOLY COW! The Therapist by B.A. Paris was unputdownable. I literally couldn't put this book down. I ordered pizza last night because I didn't want to take time to cook. The pizza was great but, the book was better. Have you ever been so engrossed in a book and looked up to find you were sitting at home on your couch? That happened to me with this book. Wow!

There were so many suspects in this book and so many reasons they were each a suspect. Then so many reasons why they weren't a suspect. I was lead to believe there were spirits in the house. Were there? Maybe!

This book had me hanging onto every word trying to figure all of what was happening. If you know anything about me, you know I can't figure them out. That is why I love mysteries, suspense and thrillers. I'm just glued until the end of the book when the author lays it all out for me. I tell ya... it is worth every minute!

I read Behind Closed Doors by this author before I started reviewing and I think this book was better! B.A. Paris has outdone herself with The Therapist. If you like her books or you just love Domestic Thrillers or Psychological Suspense, you're going to love this book.

I received a copy of this book from #StMartinsPress/#Netgalley for a fair and honest review. Thank you!

It seems exclusive neighborhoods are the theme of the summer. Alice and Leo move to The Circle, a gated community, into a fabulous house. Only after moving in does Alice find out there was a murder that took place in her house and Leo didn’t mention it.

Alice starts digging into the murder and learns it was a therapist named Nina. While the story is told mostly from Alice’s voice, there are chapters with the therapist and an unknown patient. Leo travels for work leaving Alice alone in the house and she starts to investigate what happened. It seems none of the neighbors want to answer any questions about the murder and the more they evade her questions, the more desperate Alice becomes in trying to figure out what happened.

I’m not a huge fan of naive or too trusting characters, and that is what Alice is. I couldn’t quite figure out why she continued to investigate and stay alone in the house when the stakes became so high.

I spent a good part of the book going down the rabbit holes the author set up and falling for many a red herring, I did finally figure out the murderer before the reveal.

While it isn’t a terrible book, I just couldn’t get over how naive the main character was.
