Loved, loved, loved this book! It’s Desperate Housewives meets a Dateline mystery. So many spins and twists and I did NOT see the conclusion coming…at all!!! Definitely my favorite BA Paris so far!!

Alice and Leo have just relocated to a small gated community in London called The Circle. They have purchased a house where a murder has taken place, unbeknownst to Alice. As Alice begins to befriend the neighbors, it seems that no one wants to talk about what has happened to Nina, the therapist who lived at No. 6. The more Alice learns, the more people she (and I) begins to suspect had something to do with the murder. Who can she trust? Who is hiding something? Is she safe in this gated community?

I have enjoyed everything I've read by Paris, this psychological thriller included. It had me guessing along with Alice, even though she exasperated me! I would have been out of that house long before she decided to leave!

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of The Therapist by B.A. Paris in exchange for my honest review.

The Therapist by B.A.Paris
This one kept me me guessing!
Alice and Leo move in to a gorgeous house in a gated community. In an effort to get to know her neighbors Alice plans and drinks evening to introduce them to the neighborhood. But Leo is acting strange about becoming friendly with the neighbors. She finds out that he’s hiding a huge secret about the house but that’s not all he’s hiding. Suddenly once the secret out she feels he’s still hiding more. Like why he’s estranged from his parents. As Alice goes down a rabbit hole trying to figure out more about the house she discovers more she didn’t know about Leo. However instead of solving the mystery she about gets herself killed.

It was a good read with just enough suspense to keep you wanting more. There were definitely clues that I didn’t pick up upon until the end when more things were revealed.
Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

While I am a fan of B. A. Paris’s other books, this one was underwhelming. The story wasn’t compelling enough to make up for the lack of personality and smarts of the main character. This wasn’t terrible, but it would be low on my list of recommendations for thriller-lovers.

I was hopeful for this thriller as I was reading. I wish it had been a little longer so that it did not feel so rushed with the big twist at the end.

The town of Stepford has nothing on this community. Scary scary people, in a place so full of secrets you could swim in them. I *loved* every word!

I'm a big fan of books that start off with the main character moving to a new place, especially when it's a gated community. It's always interesting to see how people figure out where they belong in a place they aren't used to. This book definitely had that going for it.
I thought the character building was done wonderfully. I felt like I was making new friends along with Alice. Alice was great as a main character within this story.
I found the mystery lacking a bit, but I still enjoyed it while I reading. I had a hard time putting it down, since I wanted to know how the whole thing would be resolved. Overall I would highly recommend this one if you are a fan of this author's past books.

I liked the premise, but this book seemed to drag on. The obsession with Nina was quite repetitive and I found myself losing interest.

The book was a good read! I enjoyed the story. However, I did suspect the outcome. It was interesting how this author wove the story to come to the outcome.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I love books that have endings I wouldn't have ever guessed, and this did! Definitely a page turner.

Once I started reading this book, I had a very hard time putting it down. I read it at any moment that I had, even waiting for a bus one day. The main character is easy to relate to and you find yourself rooting for her at every turn. It was hard to see how all of the stories would relate but the author did a great job of weaving the story together. Great character and a great story.

I love B.A Paris. Her first book “Behind Closed Doors” is by far my favorite. I enjoyed this one but nothing compares to her first book.

B.A. Paris is one of my favorite authors ever since I read Behind Closed Doors. I love the mystery behind the books and wanting me to keep going til the end to find out the truth.

Not only did I love the drama that came along with The Therapist, but author B.A Paris once again brought a fun page turning story to life.

There were a few twists that I didn’t see coming, and I love a good domestic suspense like this!

*many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the gifted copy for review

Holy mother of ... I might need a therapist now. This book was phenomenal. I listen to loads of audiobooks, so for me to sit down and read a physical book it must fully captivate my attention. This book pulled me in and I couldn't turn those pages fast enough. It had short chapters, which always makes me read faster. It had devious characters, an enthralling storyline, and even when I thought I had figured it out (3 different times) I had NOT. This is definitely one of her BEST.
The Gist...
Nina is a therapist. Nina is dead. Oliver, Nina's husband killed her. Oliver is dead.
Alice and Leo move into a super lovely house in a gated community in London, called The Circle. Alice is keen to start meeting her new neighbors and joining in The Circle activity. Leo however is hesitant. He works out of the city several days a week leaving Alice in the new house on her own.
The neighbor ladies aren't as friendly and welcoming as Alice had hoped. It's hard to break into an already formed friend group, but the problem is with the horrible secret that hides behind the doors of #6.
So Alice decides to have all the neighbors over for drinks to get to know them. But something strange happens that night, something that will change everything... Alice is about to find out her happy little life is a LIE...
Okay, I don't know what else to tell you, if this doesn't entice you, I don't know what will.
Stabby rank: - Super Stabby
Scary rank: there is something not right going on...
Stars: ALL OF THEM, Heck it's a dang BARNBURNER 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Gripping and intriguing, this kept me on the edge of my seat and I flew through it because I had to know what happened. While I was a bit disappointed in how things came together in the end, I still throughly enjoyed and would recommend to just about anyone. BA Paris still remains one of my faves!

***I received an ARC from Netgalley and the Publisher in exchange for my honest review.***

Slow to start but, in the end, Paris doe it again! I love a good whodunit that I can’t solve from the start and Paris delivered. The shocking twists and turns at the end reeled me right back to attention.
If you can handle a slower, tightly woven start, this book is worth the mental wait.

Things I liked about this book:
-Alice, the sleuthy homeowner
-Leo (at the beginning of the book - read to see why)
-The neighborhood drama (which I know first hand is definitely out there)
-The ending! Mystery solved ✔️

Things I could have gone without:
-Alice and Leo’s whole romantic relationship - I didn’t find it super believable that they were in love.
-When Leo agrees to let Alice stay in the house they had originally shared while she finds herself - this would never happen so I struggled to find this relatable.
-The first 3rd of the book; I was disappointed in how this book didn’t hook me in into later but am glad that I stayed on board.

Overall, if this is your genre, this book is worth the read!

It was a pretty quick read for me. I read it right after reading "Behind Closed Doors" and I enjoyed it enough to recommend it to someone looking for a good book to read at the beach. It didn't keep me on my toes the same way that "Behind Closed Doors" did, but it entertained me the whole time.

In B.A.Paris's The Therapist, Alice and Leo move into a small private neighborhood called The Circle. Leo isn't keen about Alice becoming acquainted with the neighbors, but Alice is insistent. Soon, it becomes apparent that Alice should have been more cautious of who she trusted.

There are a lot of names to keep track of in the book- who is married to whom? Who lives where in The Circle, in relation to Alice and Leo? - but it is worth the effort for a very enjoyable thriller. Alice is a little tedious and not as thick-skinned as I'd like, but she's been through a lot, so who am I to blame her? Some (all?) of the neighbors treat each other and Alice horribly at times, but that's all part of the story of this small little neighborhood.

I enjoyed this book and the reveal at the end. Thank you too NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book and exchange for my honest review.

This one had lots of potential but unfortunately missed the mark for me. It’s one that won’t stay with me and definitely a book I wouldn't save to read again. I'm hoping for another good option from B.A. Paris that stands out for me!
