I loved the quick pace of this book! It made it really hard to put the book down. Just when I thought I knew who the culprit might be, I was thrown for another loop. I loved the surprised ending!

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. Alice and Leo finally decide to move in together. Leo finds an amazing house in a gated community called The Circle. After they move in, she finds out that someone had been murdered in the house and Leo kept the news from her. She feels like since the name of the victim was the same name as her sister who was killed in a car crash, she owes it to her sister memory to find the killer. She suspects EVERYONE but the one person who did it. Good read! #thetherapist #BAparis #july2021

This is my 5th B.A. Paris novel. “Behind Closed Doors” is on the top of my “like” list. However, ‘The Breakdown”, and “Bring Me Home” were also good and earned 4 stars from stingy star me!!!
I was looking forward to the next Ms. Paris novel. Hmm the reviews are all over the place.
After reading it I totally understand.
Story starts in the exclusive neighborhood called “The Circle.”
Alice and Lee are excited about moving into such elite area and the renovated house seems like a steal.
Alice finds out that a woman named Nina, a therapist was murdered by her husband; Hmm Nina is the same name as her dead sister.
Strange things start to happen in this house. Alice becomes convinced that the husband didn’t do it and is suspicious that something is going on with the neighbors.

Story ended up not one of my top B. A. Paris reads but interesting and YES I look forward to her next story!

Want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press ~ Wednesday Books for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for my honest professional opinion.

Like with the other B.A. Paris books I have read, this one was fast paced and sucked me in. Alice and her long distance boyfriend Leo have finally moved in together after almost two years of seeing each other only on the weekends. Although she had high hopes for their move to a gated community in London, Alice soon discovers a horrible secret has been kept from her and that is only one of many.

I definitely enjoyed this book and I like how quickly the story moved and was very invested in solving the mysteries, but I feel that the ending fell a bit flat for me on this one. It is still a great read for someone who wants a quick thriller.

Another disappointing novel from B.A. Paris. Boring. On and on about mundane things; repetitious. I will no longer look for B.A. Paris books in the future as they're nowhere near as good as her first few.

I love anything written by B. A. Paris, and this was no exception.

Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night thinking someone was watching you? If so, then THIS is the book for you!

Paris has this way of confusing the flip out of me - mostly because her main characters are also confused. Their minds race, they invent theories, and they accuse, accuse, accuse. And as they do it, so do I.

I will admit that I suspected every single character in this book, but I had my mind set on one particular one for most of it. I thought I had it alllll figured out. I even told my husband what I just KNEW was going on in this small, creepy neighborhood.

I was wrong.

I was so wrong.

And the instant when I realized I was wrong was a spine tingling, heart racing, stomach dropping moment!

Paris does it again!!

I am such a fan of B.A Paris. I love suspense stories focused on secrets & relationships and The Therapist brings this in spades.

Leo and Alice move into their dream house in The Circle, a swanky, close-knit gated community. But as Alice gets to know her neighbours, she finds out that what she thought was a dream turns out to be more of a nightmare and the people closest to her are hiding some serious secrets.

I won't lie, Alice can be a frustrating character- the kind you want to shake some sense into as you watch her make one bad decision after another as her paranoia builds. Nina is a very interesting character and I was drawn to her story.

B. A. Paris always delivers with sharp writing and deftly written domestic scenarios. Go into this one knowing it's much more domestic suspense and you won't be disappointed.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an eARC of this title!

Alice and Leo have been dating for months and are finally moving in together in London. Leo finds a house he loves in the gated community called the Circle and buys it before Alice sees it. But the neighborhood isn't what it seems. When Alice finds out more about her house she wonders who she can trust and what other secrets people are keeping. She is determined to figure out the truth but what will be the cost?

I've been B.A.Paris' fan for many years and always looking forwards to her new novels. When I received an advanced copy of "The Therapist" - I read it right away. B.A.Paris always intrigues me with her unique twists, and this novel was not an exception.

"Do you know what Henry David Thoreau believed? Happiness is like a butterfly, the more you chase it, the more it will elude you. But if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder." said The Therapist. A famous quote to live by, and in the case of The Therapist - to lure new clients into their web.

The novel was nothing that I expected of it. The main character Alice who has struggled with her past and an obsession over the death of her family, and mostly her sister finds an interesting fact about the new house she and the boyfriend recently moved into. The obsession with the woman who lived and died in the house grew over Alice's desire to make new friends from the gated neighborhood. It blinded her to the point when she overlooked a very important detail that almost cost her the relationship and most importantly - her own life.

The novel is full of million and one plot twists and secrets. I loved the story and mystery that surrounded the gated community. It was hard to put the book down. Thank you St. Martin's Publishing Group for a free and advanced copy of this novel and B.A.Paris for yet another great novel.

I found this book very readable! I was hooked early on and enjoyed the slow buildup to the final conclusion. I really enjoyed the neighborhood feel of "The Circle" and learning about all the residents. This thriller definitely kept me guessing. I can see how this will be a really great summer read, as its pacing moves you right along. If you have enjoyed B.A. Paris's other books, you will definitely enjoy this one!

Wow. What this author does best a page turning psychological, is it ? Isn’t it ? Quick, Nail biting book

When Alice and Leo move into an exclusive neighborhood they have no idea what happened in their house previously. Leo has something to hide and prefers to be left alone... Alice is more of a people person and tries to befriend their neighbors.

As a fan of this author, I recommend this book !

Thank you for the chance to read and review this book by one of my favorite authors. This one did not disappoint!
A couple moves in together in a subdivision in London. The homes are all the same and built on a circle. This is a gated community but a murder has taken place here.
The male part of this couple negected to tell his female partner that a murder had taken place in their beautiful new home. As she gets to know her neighbors, she suspects they are lying to her and about her.
There are so many twist to this story that I read it in two sittings and could not put it down. I do highly recommend this as her best book yet.

This is the second book by the author B.A. Paris that I read. The first was, "Behind closed doors" which I have thoroughly enjoyed (finished reading in less than 2 days ). This book has a slow start and takes a while to get into it (unlike Behind closed doors which kept me flipping through the pages :)) but once I did, I didn't want to stop. B. A. Paris is a very good story teller!
Leo and Alice move into a gated community of 12 houses called "The Circle". Alice is keen to form new friendships with her new neighbors when she learns about the murder of Nina Maxwell (the previous owner of her house) by her husband. She decides to know more about her previous owners and starts talking to her neighbors about Nina's death.
The pace of this novel is slow to start with, but after 60% of the book it picks up and surprises the reader with its twists and turns!
Thank you Netgalley for an e-ARC.

This book is something else, and not in a good way.

Alice and Leo, a long distance couple decide to move in together in The Circle, an exclusive gated community in London where they hope to live a happy life, finally together. Beginning with a dinner party Alice decides to throw to get to know their new neighbours, the couple begin to find out that something horrible happened at the home. It begins to worry Alice, who essentially wants to find out the truth, but instead ends up falling into danger herself.

I can't say I completely disliked this story, because it did keep me reading and wanting to know the end. But, I feel like I was dragged along literally until something happened which is in the last 10%. Alice, oh Alice, she's so naive, she seems so young and it's hard to experience the story through her point of view. She is so muddled, her thoughts are here, there and everywhere. She constantly contradicts herself. First she wants the house and everything that comes with it, then she doesn't, the neighbours are her friends, then she suspects them of certain things, she can trust them, then she can't, Leo isn't doing shady stuff, then he is. It's nuts. The story could've been told in 100 pages, yet it drags on, Alice having the SAME conversations over and over again, never really finding anything out. There are so many unnecessary details and parts, Alice herself is so odd. The whole thing with her obsession with the name Nina, her sister, the hair, the twist at the end about herself is just ridiculous and doesn't stand up. Even the ending is so lacklustre. There were so many unneeded characters and tidbits, even though I feel like I didn't know any of them by the end? Also, the connection between Alice and Leo is non-existent. She loves him, but then does a 180 very quickly and the reasoning at the end is insane. I would've waste my time with this one, I couldn't get over how unintelligent Alice comes across and the going in circles for the whole story. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

B.A. Paris has once again blown me away! Who can you trust? Do you ever really know someone? These are the questions I imagine Alice asked herself in The Therapist. As a new resident in the gated community called The Circle, Alice is trying to fit in and make friends. But, she stumbles into a twisted murder mystery that she cannot let go. With twists and turns I didn't see coming, this one kept me guessing almost to the very end. Though it began a little slow, after a few chapters, I was hooked. If you want a suspenseful, domestic thriller that you won't be able to put down and will keep you reading late into the night, this is the one for you!!

When Alice moves into a her new home with her boyfriend Leo, she is thrilled and excited to start a new adventure with the man she loves in the exclusive, gated community, The Circle. As Alice attempts to get to know her new neighbours, she senses that there is something they are holding back from her. And Leo's evasiveness in terms of why he doesn't want to spend time with the neighbours piques her suspicion also. As it turns out, one of the previous owners was murdered in her home, and her husband was suspected of her murder. Alice begins to feel a strong connection with the deceased Nina, and delves into the story through research and discussing with her neighbours, in order to find out the truth about Nina's death. But who can she trust?

As with B.A. Paris' other books, I was hooked right from the beginning. I didn't know who to suspect, or if there even was someone to suspect. There were several red herrings sprinkled in throughout so that it wasn't too simple to unravel the truth. I had guessed the truth by the end, but it was still enjoyable to read along and see how Alice dealt with things. Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.

I'm a huge B.A. Paris fan and this latest read did not disappoint! This thriller was a complete page-turner with secrets & lies. You won't want to put this down!

B.A. Paris has written another psychological thriller that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the final words of the book are read. Alice and Leo move into an exclusive neighborhood and soon things start to get weird. Secrets are revealed. Before I got to the halfway point of this book, I was already sure that three of the characters had "done it." By the end of book, I think I had convinced myself that half of the characters in the book had "done it." That's what I loved about this book. With all the twists, you never really know what will happen next, or who is guilty. I was confused about Alice and Leo's relationship, though. It seems like they'd moved into this house together way too soon, and without really knowing each other. I found some of those dynamics to be strange. All in all, this book was a win for me!

B.A. Paris does it again!

This was a wish for it book and I couldn't have been more excited. I'm an immense fan of Paris' books.

The Dilemma was less than I had hoped for being it was more drama less thriller so I had my fingers crossed that The Therapist would make up for it and it did.

The Therapist went far and beyond my expectations. I couldn't solve it before the reveal but not for lack of trying. I was all over the place in my theories of what was what and who was doing what and once I got there I was floored.

A brutal murder in a gated cul-de-sac community. You know full well the murder was committed by someone in The Circle but who and why?

Paris' characters are strong and easy to attach to as always. You're immediately sucked into the story right from the get go. The Circle is described so vividly described that I could see everyone's house while I read. The story twisted and turned and I couldn't stop reading. Paris has a flair for intensity. She leaves you gasping for breath on nearly every turn and makes you excited for the next one.

I'm not giving anything away on this one. You are just going to have to read it, enjoy the ride and try not fall off. When the reveal comes you'll bolt upright and scream, "Oh...my...gawd."

I am so honored that I had my wish granted on this one. I've been lapse in my reading and this was the perfect book to bring me back. I finished it 24hrs. I rarely give 5 stars to a book but I am on this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for granting me a chance to read this before so many others get a chance. Also a big thank you to B.A. Paris for her amazing talent.
