At the beginning of the book, Alice starts talking about just moving to The Circle and how she has only meet 1 neighbor. She meets Maria, as this lady is putting her 3 boys and 2 dogs into a People Carrier. A WHAT? I so had to look that up, while Americans say Minivan, British people say People Carrier. OK! I only say something cause i think its weird but cute at the same time. This book grabbed me from the prologue, and of course i'm nosey for secrets. This book will be hard for anyone to put down. This is my first book by B.A. Paris and i see why everyone raves about her books. This book lives up to the hype. Grab your a copy when it comes out, you won't be disappointed.

This is about a woman who moves into a new home with her significant other to start a new life together. The relationship begins to unravel when Alice learns that her lover, Leo, didn't tell her that the former occupant of the house had been murdered. While her attachment to Leo begins to end, Alice becomes obsessed with the murder, A stranger shows up at her housewarming and at first she believes him to be one of the neighbors. He subsequently tells her that he is a detective trying to solve the murder and she becomes swept up with helping to solve the case. The suspense is well done as long as one can ignore the most obvious of suspects.

Another fantastic psychological thriller from B.A. Paris, The Therapist will have you wondering the whole way through. Alice and Leo move in together into a house in a neighborhood known as The Circle. But there is a secret that the people living in The Circle hold. When Alice finds out what it is she panics. She feels someone is watching her. Is it someone who lives in The Circle? Who can she trust? And more importantly, who can't she trust?

As a big fan of B.A. Paris, I was so excited to receive a copy of this book to review. I simply could not put it down. All of the neighbours are suspicious which just adds to the juiciness of the book. I guessed the plot twist about 2/3 of the way through but had no idea how it would manifest itself. A superb thriller that will have you biting your nails until the end.

Thank you to Netgalley, B.A. Paris, and St. Martin's Press for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was fast-paced and easy to read. But man, why did Alice so lacking in intelligence?

**BEWARE OF SPOLERS**

She suspected everyone of murder at some point, except for the murderer, who was some guy who just showed up at her party. And she read into everything anyone said, expect for the glaring contradiction between the elderly woman’s account of how Thomas got in (I buzzed him in) and Thomas’s own account (I followed someone in). And why did she trust Thomas, who she didn’t really know, after how Leo lied to her. It was stated more than once how Alice and Leo jumped into a relationship without knowing each other well enough, yet she was ready to go all in with someone else she barely knew? I did like this book better than the last one by Paris (the hugely unlikable couple whose daughter died in an airliner crash); perhaps it’s because even though Alice was made questionable decisions, she was still relatively likeable in her naivete and I rooted for her to get out of her situation and move on. The middle got a little repetitive with Alice suspecting everyone and with similar thoughts going through her head as she shifted to a new suspect, but I still moved through pretty quickly and it was a decent escape.

OMG, The Therapist was an excellent read. I love BA Paris and have read all of her previous books, but this story was addictive. I’ve been in a reading slump and this pulled me right out! This psychological thriller is multi layered, which kept me interested! There’s a love story meets deception between main characters Alice and Leo. An unsolved murder that took place close to home. Breakdown of close friendships and new neighbors. Neighbors turning on one another and secrets being kept. Questions about who is truthful and who is covering up for who. A suspenseful story, with an unexpected ending!

I absolutely love BA Paris and having read all of her previous work, was thrilled to get an ARC of The Therapist! The Therapist had me suspicious of every single character and had twists and turns until the very last page. This book went at a good pace and kept me intrigued and turning the page - I found myself picking it up at every spare moment.

Fans of BA Paris and thrillers won't be disappointed!

As always, B.A. Paris creates a twisty story with memorable characters. I actually found parts of this book very creepy. The ending was satisfying and surprising.

Loved this psychological thriller! BA Paris is the queen of psychological thrillers and she is back!! I just wish we had more details on the past (it felt slightly glossed over).

Thanks to publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying, I have been a HUGE fan of B A Paris since I read Behind Closed Doors. When I was given The Therapist ARC, is was THRILLED! With that being said, This book did not disappoint!

When Alice and Leo move into the gated community of The Circle, they thought they were taking the relationship to a new level and life there would be "Happily Ever After". However, what they found was deceit, lies, the feeling of being watched and an unsolved murder. As always, B A Paris offers up great a great story for several twist and turns at the end.

I always enjoy mystery thrillers that shock and surprise me. The Therapist did not disappoint because quite a few scenes shocked and surprised me. For instance, I never really knew if Alice imagined the noises or if it is happening. There were moments where I felt like Nina’s ghost was trying to communicate with her. Moreover, some of the Circle residents are also very shady, and you don’t know what they are hiding. For instance, I found Edward very deceptive. Leo was also strange, and some of the secrets he hid from Alice shocked me.

The author also paced the story nicely, where you don’t know how the plot will progress. Alice is a fun character, and I liked how she put herself in danger as they started to investigate Nina’s life. Some of the story’s highlights are when Alice learns about Leo’s past and initially meets Thomas. Also, the climax shocked me as I did not see it coming at all. Tamsin and Eve added nicely to the story too, and I liked how Alice bonded with them.

However, parts of the story felt repetitious to me. The story dwindles in the middle, where nothing much happens. We get the same repetitions of noises and Alice talking to the community to get news on Nina. The plot, however, picks up again towards the end and leads to an entertaining climax.

Overall, “The Therapist” is a fun, quick thriller, and I would recommend it if you are in the mood for a compelling whodunit, mystery thriller!

I will say that the ending had quite a few twists and surprises. However the main character was pretty dumb and didn’t see some obvious signs, and it got really annoying. I’d like to think people are smarter than that. That said, I was on edge at the end so it still got me.

Rated 5 stars on Goodreads. Read it within an evening,
The book was exactly the kind of fun read I needed during Covid times. It was a fast evening read that kept me guessing till the last twist. The main character was a relief to me since I'm used to reading female character with addiction or a psychological disorder keeping them blind to obvious clues happening around them, With the main character in "The Therapist" never stopped suspecting those around her. Although this got tiring it was also nice since it took the guesswork away from the reader, so the reader could read leisurely. In this way the author lulls the reader into not doing the guesswork which made the twist more shocking.
Another great book from a favourite author

Another great book from BA Paris. It did follow a similar process as earlier novels but still enjoyable. I was expecting a certain twist and the antagonist was identified by me before it was revealed. I always enjoy her books and look forward to her next.

I’m having a hard time rating this book. There were moments I thought surely that I’d give up reading it. The main character was incredibly stupid, lacking so much common sense. The book felt confusing, and not really in a good thriller-ish way, and disorganized. Yet there were other moments that I couldn’t put it down because I was compelled to find out what really happened. I actually really ended up liking the truth of how the murder wrapped up but I don’t think the author went about arriving there in the best way. The premise was great, and the therapist concept. 3 stars for the positives and that it was an easy read. Not 5 stars for the negative points mentioned. This wasn’t as strong as Behind Closed Doors in my opinion.

I couldn't get into this book. I tried, but there wasn't enough action or mystery in the first few chapters to keep my attention. Sadly, this is a DNF.

Alice and Leo decide to move in together. They move into an exclusive gated community called the Circle. Leo fails to tell Alice; a woman, Nina, was murdered in their new home. Alice becomes obsessed with Nina’s murder, and if one of the neighbors murdered her. As Alice becomes more entrenched in the neighborhood she she becomes suspicious of her neighbors convinced one of them is a murder or at least knows more than they are asking to. If only Alice could talk to the elusive therapist Nina was seeing, she might have answers.

Told from Alice’s point of view, the reader understands what motivates her to discover the truth about Nina’s murder. This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I was turning pages so quickly so I could find out what happened next. Overall a satisfying read with twists and turns. Thank you, #netgalley and the publisher, for allowing me to review The Therapist

A solid 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
While I wasn’t too shocked by the twists, I still really enjoyed them! I found some parts in the middle of the book to drag a little, but the ending was great!

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Leo and Alice move into one if the most desired neighborhoods called the circle. Alice learns that something happened to the women who lived in the house before them. This book kept me interested from the very beginning.
