I LOVE B. A. PARIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This chick can do no wrong and she knocks it out of the park EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! She just keeps getting better!@!! Truly thankful to NetGalley for allowing me to read a copy of this title.
I was thrilled to receive an advanced copy of BA Paris' new book! I have read everything she has written. Some books have been better than others, but none have still been able to compare to Behind Closed Doors. I feel for BA. I am sure she hears this in many reviews, and it must get annoying. The Therapist was fun, and I certainly enjoyed the mystery. It had some twists that kept me on my toes. The book was slow in may parts, so I was happy when the story ramped up towards the end. This is a great book to read in one sitting!
So this is one of those books where you narrate to yourself....I bet he did it...nope she did it that makes sense...nope they're in on it. And actually that was what the main character was like and it annoyed me, but in reality I was doing the exact same thing. I went back and forth so many times on who may have done it. I did eventually figure it out before it was revealed but I loved how it kept you guessing. I do not think anyone that is fan of who done it books will be disappointed. Well done! Definitely would recommend to my book club
Usually I love BA Paris books, but this for me one missed the mark. I didn’t like the main character because I thought her immature and annoying, and it became a little confusing keeping track of the neighbors. I thought the ending was good, many twists and turns none of which I saw coming, but again the main character is too, “ oh what will they think of me” immature.
Today I told my co-workers I was tired because I had insomnia last night. Luckily none of them are avid readers or they'd know that insomnia is a code for having a good book and a complete lack of respect for tomorrow. The Therapist is one of the best books I've read in a long time. I couldn't put it down until I had finished it because it was so suspenseful.
Alice and her partner move into a home in an exclusive gated community where she learns the previous tenant of her home was murdered. But who really did it? Alice begins to investigate as mysterious things begin occurring at home.
A truly great read! Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I am such a huge BA Paris fan! But..... with that being said, this was not my favorite book by her. She has set the bar sky high with her other books, but this one fell short for me. I found most of the characters to be one dimensional and bleh.
If you have ever read a B.A. Paris, book, you know it never disappoints! The latest, The Therapist might be my very favorite so far. Twist and turns and a plot that keeps you turning page after page until the end. LOVED this one!
Thank you to netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review!
I am always excited for the next book by B. A. Paris. I have read and enjoyed every book she has written and this one is no exception. Alice and her boyfriend Leo move into a luxury gated community. Alice soon learns that a muder took place in their home and that Leo knew but did not tell her. It seems that secrets lurk everywhere and her neighbours are not who they seem to be. The mystery and tension grow towards the shocking ending. Loved it!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was so excited to read the new thriller from the BA Paris. I have devoured all of her previous works, and this one is no different.
Alice and Leo have been involved in a long distance relationship, so moving in together seems to be the next logical step. Leo has found an amazing house, at a steep discount, in order for Alice to keep her beloved cottage in her village. Moving to London is a big step for her, leaving the comfort of her childhood home, but she is excited to get to know her new neighbors. It's only after she has moved that she learns the truth of why the discount- the previous owner murdered his wife and then committed suicide. Alice is horrified, and even more so when she learns many of her neighbors think he is innocent. As strange things begin to happen, and Leo is traveling for work, Alice is determined to find the truth.
A novel you can't put down!
This was an ok, but not exceptional thriller in my opinion. It actually reminded me a lot of Paris’ earlier book, the Dilemma, which was also just so-so for me. I didn’t feel any connection to the characters and I felt that some of their actions were implausible. I also figured out the ending early on so I wasn’t at all surprised. It wasn’t terrible, but it did not have me on the edge of my seat like some of Paris’ other books did.
I really love a mystery that relies on just great storytelling and not a bunch of graphic violence. You really don’t know the truth till the end and before you reach it you find that so many people could be the killer. Really easy to fly through - keeps you going and makes you ignore what you should be doing instead of reading all day! Well done.
With each new book by this author that I read the more and more of a fan I become. I look forward to her latest and greatest and as soon as I saw this one I just had to have it! And yet again I wasn't disappointed as it far exceeded even my high expectations. The Therapist was unique, suspenseful and a but scary. It kept me on the edge of my seat right from the beginning, and with each new twist several new questions arose. And that ending left me with my jaw on the floor.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for my digital ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be published July 13, 2021.
I’m a big fan of this author and this is my fifth book by her. Unfortunately this one wasn’t on par with her other thrillers.
Too many neighbors to keep track of, a strange obsession with the name of your dead sister, too many things Alice should have questioned but didn’t. Instead she chose to try to solve the mystery of the murder that happened in her new home with the help of a detective. Her paranoia makes everyone a suspect.
The last 10% was exciting with some twists I didn’t see coming but overall I thought this particular book was a mess.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Alice moves to a new neighborhood with her partner only to discover a disturbing secret about her home. She also finds out that her partner has secrets of his own and that many of the neighbors are not who they appear to be.
I didn't expect the ending. There are great plot twists in this novel.
I read this book in a day and could not put it down. I'm new to B.A. Paris and recently read two of her other books, The Dilemma and Behind Closed Doors, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed. There's something about the way that Paris delves into the thought processes of her main characters that really appeals to me. Her main characters are introspective thinkers who want to be honest with themselves and others. For the most part, they are honest, but there are things that they hide and it's interesting to follow them through their lives and try to understand why they do what they do. Alice, the main character in this book, is much the same. She just wants to lead a happy life like we all do, but she's having trouble with that, even though she just moved into a fabulous house in London with her boyfriend. This title is also a mystery and I found myself mistrusting and then trusting many different characters, thoroughly convinced that I knew where the story was going only to find that I was wrong many times. A fun read that I can definitely recommend.
The Therapist by BA Paris is hands down the best psychological thriller I've read in the past year. This one kept me up late into the night saying "just one more chapter....just one more chapter". I can usually guess 'who dunnit' but this novel kept me guessing until the end. Amazing book that I cannot wait to recommend! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
If you ever thought of moving into a home where a crime was committed, reading this mystery novel make you think twice about doing so. An English couple (Alice and Leo) has moved into such a home, and she finds out Leo hasn't been truthful about the history of their home. Then she finds out more about his past, along with trying to track down what actually happened literally in her bedroom with the previous residents. Along the way I kept thinking, why is the title of this book about "the therapist?" The key to this person's identity is what solves the murder/suicide of the previous owners, and along the way you get to meet the neighbors of what once was a quiet gated cul-de-sac in the middle of London, and the roles that each neighbor played in the crime. It is another delightful book from BA Paris, who plumbs the depths of a couple's relationship in interesting and unusual ways. If you aren't a fan of her novels, you will become as obsessed as her main characters into reading more of them.
The Therapist was phenomenal! I have loved everything B A Paris has written in the past so I knew this story would be enthralling, I just did not realize how much of this story would throw me into a spiral of guessing! I absolutely loved how I could not predict anything that was going to happen! I felt this story was a slower build but wow did the ending not disappoint! The ending had me questioning I just read and lead be back to all these clues I did not put together! B A Paris does it again with her incredible writing!
Amazing book!! So many twists you will be dizzy!
I received this book from St Martin’s Publishing Group via NetGalley. I would like to thank them for allowing me to read the ARC of The Therapist.
I was intrigued by the characters and the story from the first chapter. This author knows how to catch your interest and never let it go. The characters personalities are established quickly and I found myself liking them all (even if they aren’t nice people ). Alice and Leo have moved in together for the first time into a big beautiful house in a gated community in London. She wants to get to know all the neighbours while he wants to lay low. From their get to you cocktail party, things start to unravel in Alice and Leo’s lives. Alice doesn’t know who to believe or trust and this makes for all twists in the story. I would have liked to see more of Leo in the book and I found that his character seems to get lost. He was missing work and staying holed up in his room to help find out the truth but the author didn’t follow through with this.
Overall it is a quick moving storyline that will keep you thinking. I found the book helped me escape from my world for a few hours and concentrate on who the bad guy was.
Alice is excited to start a new life in London, moving away from the place of tragedy that has consumed her life for 20 years. Leo purchased a house is a small gated neighborhood and as Alice starts her life with him everything seems perfect. Alice learns that there was a terrible murder that took place in her house and it seems the neighbors are hiding something. As Alice keeps asking questions, things do not add up and she soon suspects everyone except for the one who did the deed.
